I've been here multiple times now and it's always so good. I usually get the steak plate with 2 sides - this time I got mac & cheese and sweet potato fries. The mac & cheese is some of the best I've ever had! I also feel like it's a little healthier than some other spots. We went for lunch around 12:30p so it was pretty busy but they did a really good job at seating us. Usually you take a table number after you order and sit down but since it was so busy, they made sure there was seating available before ordering since the food comes out so quickly. Always really friendly staff. I have to give a shoutout to Chester, and his manager if you're out there, I hope you see this! We had the most amazing experience last night. My husband and I came in for a light dinner after a movie last night. We got our food and were just sitting, enjoying our meal when Chester walked by with a couple plates of sweet potato fries and I made a comment only to my husband about how good they looked. To my surprise less than 5 minutes later Chester came over and dropped off a plate of fries at the table for me. That was literally the NICEST thing someone has done for me in forever - I was SO impressed. WOW!!!! So if you're Chester's manager - please tell him thank you again for going above and beyond. If you're looking for a healthy-ish spot that still feels fun and social, Flower Child is a great addition to the rotation. The atmosphere is upbeat, bright, and welcoming with a really good energy whether you're stopping in for lunch, dinner, or meeting up with a larger group. The setup works especially well for groups since there's plenty of seating and the ordering process keeps things moving even when it's busy. One thing they do very well is efficiency without losing hospitality. They have both a dine-in ordering counter and a dedicated to-go counter, which seems necessary because this place stays packed. Even during busy times, the staff stays friendly, attentive, and organized. You can tell there's real attention paid to each order and that management understands how to run a smooth restaurant operation. The menu has a lot of solid choices whether you want something lighter, comforting, vegetarian, or protein-packed. Portions were satisfying, and the broccoli deserves its own mention -- somehow simple but absolutely addictive. My only real note is that pricing feels a little high for an order-at-the-counter style restaurant. Wow! This is one of my favorite entrees I've had here! The "Forbidden rice" bowl at $11.95 delivered in flavor and in quantity! I'm not vegetarian or vegan but I would gladly order this bowl again! A colorful mix of seasoned snap pea, bok choy, broccoli, carrot, onion, toasted sesame, red chili hoisin on a mix of black pearl and red japonica rice. I'm drawn to the combination of vegetables especially on the red Japonica rice. This nutty flavored, pale pink, medium grain rice (also know as Bhutanese Red Rice) has a slight chewy texture which I love. This dish tasted fresh was perfectly cooked and served hot at our table. Service was good and we timed it right by arriving at 11:40 before the lunch crowd came and filled all the seats. To end the meal we each purchased their chocolate chip cashew cookie. This was not the first time I have been to Flower Child. It's one of those places that I'll go if somebody else wants to, but I'll never choose it myself. I know my opinion is probably unpopular because it seems like everybody loves Flower Child, but it's not really my cup of tea. I fully understand, though, that that's just me. I do have some weird food issues. I will say this place is so bright and airy and just lovely. I love the paned windows that look out onto the patio, the very high ceilings, and the brown rattan lighting fixtures. Even though the space is quite large, it's extremely inviting. That said, it's a great place for something healthy. I feel like you can't go wrong with any of the choices if you're trying to eat well. My friends lunch looked much better than what I had. I had the Flying Avocado Wrap, and I didn't love it. In fact I didn't finish even half of it - - I took it home and my son ate it. I think it's the bread I don't like, and anyone who knows me knows I can be really picky. Will I come back? Probably. When I have lunch with somebody else who wants to come here, I won't have a problem with it. I would really like to try the forbidden Rice that my friend had. As a still-new resident of Arizona, I discovered Flower Child. It has become my favorite place to go to when I want "fast food" that's not fast food. If you know, you know. My go-to dishes are always the Mediterranean Chicken Kabob (without summer squash) or the Chicken Yakisoba Noodles. The food tastes delicious, clean and fulfilling, and I love their many healthy options to choose from. I have yet to try other dishes but I can't break away from my default dishes just yet. Oh but I can't forget to mention the Double Chocolate Almond Brownie--delicious! The staff is nice and the restaurant stays busy every day. If you want to enjoy dining in, visit during the weekday but if you must dine on the weekend, be prepared to wait a little bit. The restaurant is very pretty and aesthetic looking, perfect for a girls lunch (my favorite!). Not only was it pretty, but the food was delicious! I was craving something fresh and lemony so I decided to try their black bean falafel wrap- not something I would typically get but it has now become one of my favorite wraps! I usually crave a meat source of protein but the black bean falafel was perfect! The service was great, the line was a bit long but the cashiers kept it moving quickly! I had a few questions and the young girl who took my order was very nice and helpful. On September 30, I waited at the restaurant for my food (not a big deal, I waited outside since it was busy) and when I got home after about an hour or more, I was finally able to sit and eat as I'm currently still moving by myself. I found that I had mashed potatoes instead of mac & cheese so I called to let them know and they said they would refund me. They said it would be in my bank account by 3 to 5 business days and it's still not there. As I just checked. What a scam. I literally waited 20+ minutes for my food, it was "checked by Jared," but was obviously incorrect, and was told that I would receive a refund and did not. As of now, I have zero incentive to go back. The amount of times they've messed up is ridiculous. The food is good but it's not worth it if they're going to consistently mess up on your order, say they will make a positive resolution happen, and then not follow through - that's bad business ethics, especially when it's expensive. read more

Definitely my worst experience at a FRC establishment. We ordered takeout and my wife's wrap was fine but my steak was anything but. I ordered the steak, sweet potato fries, and Mac and cheese. The steak was partly lean and partly fatty, the portion size was very very small too compared to my past experiences at flower child. The sweet potato fries were cold/lukewarm and mushy. Barely cooked I think. The mac & cheese was the only thing that was fine. I called and spoke to a manager, and she refunded the sweet potato fries, but did nothing about the steak, even after agreeing that the picture I sent her showed that it was fatty and did not live up to their expectations. I have never been to this place but it's a mile from my house so I decided to go with my daughters because the salad looked delicious. Apparently, they have a system where, during the lunch rush, they have ONE cashier and you order your food up front. They gave you a number, and they bring you your food. I ordered a wrap and some noodles for my daughters and then the item I specifically came here for- the Bulgogi salad. The young girl upfront said that it's not being offered until tomorrow because tomorrow would be the "launch day" for that item. I asked if she was sure and if she could check with a manager. A manger came up and l showed her the salad ad that I screenshot. The manager, if she even was one, looked at it and said, "Actually, that doesn't even exist." I wasn't even sure what she meant by that so I explained the only reason we were here was because I wanted to try the salad that was being advertised. She said that she wasn't sure why I was showing her an old ad. I showed her I screenshot the pic of the salad and hour ago and showed her the timestamp. Then she said in a dismissive manner, "I have no idea why you're getting that. Is it AI?" What a ridiculous question. The whole interaction was upsetting because this manager made it so. We dined on the outdoor patio for lunch. We enjoyed the Italian Turkey Salami salad and the Green Chili Queso. Both were packed full of flavor w/generous portion sizes! Honestly, for lunch, my husband and I could have shared a salad they're that large. The queso platter could have had more chips as the majority of the queso went to waste as the queso to chip ration was not equally paired. We were visiting from out of state for our wedding anniversary so I'm glad to have found and experienced a gluten-free friendly option. The experience was incredibly enjoyable!
