Great Wall is our go to Chinese place in Middletown. They are so nice and their food is great! Our usual go to items are some combination of the following: sesame chicken (ask for it extra spicy!), pork lo mein, pan fried dumplings, fried wontons, bbq spare ribs, sweet and sour chicken, and garlic chicken. And of course, egg rolls! The spare ribs can be hit or miss if you get good pieces or fatty pieces. The sesame chicken is my absolute favorite, it's always crispy and the sauce is always good...hit or miss how spicy they get it, but I do love it when it's very spicy!! My husband loves to get the bbq rib and chicken fingers combo (chicken fingers are basically the same as sweet and sour chicken). Pro tip: If you order this, they don't automatically give you the red sweet and sour sauce for the chicken, so be sure to ask for the sauce when placing your order! I can't speak to the other items on the menu, as we usually get 2-3 of our favorites whenever we go. But the food is always fresh and hot, and they're very accommodating of special requests. This has always been my go to Chinese spot in Middletown. The food is always good and rarely is there a problem. However tonight I noticed something, perhaps a way to cut back and save money, but not cool in my book. Pork fried rice is a standard whenever I order, but I noticed the pork was almost missing from the dish. Upon looking closer, I found it, but the prices are cut so small now, they blend in with the other parts of the dish. When I say small, since when is the pork smaller than a grain of rice ? Literally the size of the head of a ballpoint pen. Pls don't start getting cheap on us customers, I would hate to look elsewhere next time . read more

Ordered General Tso combo and Boneless Spare rib combo. I'm fairly confident the chicken was freezer burned, there was a wierd chemical aftertaste after every bite. The sauce for the ribs were pretty tasty but the ribs themselves were chewy like jerky, it was pretty much like beef jerky in sauce. I cannot recommend this place, won't ever go back. read more

We decided to give this place another chance. We used to order pick up all of the time, before we moved to the other side of town. They do not offer delivery, so we haven't ordered from them in about 5 years. Besides the sticker shock, when my hubby showed me the credit card slip, we were pleasantly surprised by the food. We realized that my pork and broccoli came as a quart and not a pint, as ordered. My husband raved about the quality of the meat in the egg drop wonton soup. His only complaint was there was not enough soup liquid in the container. The Crab Rangoon were large and the filling was wonderful, and not too sweet. It does appear, that they use real crab. They came with sauce for dipping, but we didn't bother with it. The egg rolls were lightly fried, slightly crispy and tasty. My pork & broccoli was great. There were equal amounts of meat and veggies (broccoli & carrots). The meat was lean and the sauce was not heavy. I ordered the pork fried rice for my son, and of course I had to sample it! The fried rice was the best I've had, in a long time. We will definitely be making the drive across town, the next time we get a craving for Chinese food. read more

A great option for takeout Chinese, The food is hot, fresh, and surely will please. Plenty of parking in a strip on South Main, Don't eat here if you want food that's just plain. This is my go-to takeout joint. The General Tso Chicken is crispy with plenty of juice on the bottom of the container to sprinkle on your rice. The Crab Rangoons are as big as empanadas. The wontons are big and the soup itself is decent. The prices are more than fair for the amount of food you get. I am usually told to pick up my food in 10-15 minutes. Today they were on time but last time I had to wait an additional 15 minutes while they finished up cooking my food. Normally I wouldn't care but it was during the NFL playoffs. Pretty good Chinese take out, and that's coming from someone that lives in Chinatown in Philly. Their service is fast and the food comes out hot and fresh. The steamed dumplings were some of the most flavorful I've had in awhile with a perfect ratio of dumpling dough to filling. My brothers also really liked the General Tso's. All the chic dishes had all white chicken that lacked the cat-like quality of so many small Chinese take out places. Bottom Line: Will order from here again when I am in the area. read more

This is our new go-to Chinese restaurant. They are very nice and the food is solid. It's our new go-to because this is a restaurant that is not afraid of spice. If you ask for something spicy hot, it comes spicy hot. This has never been the case elsewhere. It's never hot enough for some in my family. This is always spicy hot when we request it to be. The wonton soup is great and the wontons are tightly wrapped (it's a pet peeve of mine when they are wrapped loosely and floppy). The wontons in the soup are generous in amount as well. Fried rice is good. We get some standards all the time like chicken and broccoli, kung pao chicken and lo mein. All are good. It's mostly standard Chinese restaurant fare, so that's why no 5 stars because it's just solid and reliable. I reserve 5 stars for being blown out of the water. This will not do that but it is good, plentiful and spiced nicely if you want it to be. read more

Great Wall is my go to Chinese place. Fast friendly service. The restaurant looks very clean. Prices are good and the portions are large. The general tso dinner combo is enough to feed two people and the chicken is very crispy. The pork fried rice is solid. However the beef sticks and crab rangoon are not the best. Every since I began working in Middletown, I've only come into contact with Pizzas or Sandwiches. I've been on the lookout for a decent Chinese Restaurant and I found it. No matter where I go the first thing I always order is Boneless Spare Ribs and they were the best I've had in the past couple months. They were not to dry and the sauce was perfect. Disgusting. We ordered a bunch of appies from here - our first attempt at Asian food since moving here. Great Wall was a bad choice. I couldn't even finish eating ANYTHING. The steamed dumplings were so doughy, the crab rangoons were 90% wonton wrapper, the egg rolls were bland, the chicken fingers were extremely greasy. I think what bothered me the most was watching the "cooks" use only frozen, pre-made food. My coat smelled like crappy Chinese food for 3 days and I only waited for 10 minutes for the food to finish cooking! I like quick, Chinese take-out, but this was the worst I have ever had. So far Great Wall has THE BEST chicken in garlic sauce in Middletown. I tried so many places in the area and I'm really happy with how Great Wall's sauce tastes. It's got this kick to it and it's not super sweet - just right. Crab Rangoon can get a little soggy for take out - it's not my favorite. General Tso's is pretty good too though. This is great Chinese food. I've gotten take out many times and it is always delicious. The only draw back is what the other reviewers have mentioned - the crab rangoon could use some work. They are so large that the dough to filling ratio is off. While the filling is great, it is just too big and doughy for my taste. Otherwise, everything else I've ever had from this restaurant is excellent. The food is always ready in 15 minutes, is fresh and hot, and the portions are very generous for the price.
