Solid Chinese food takeout, we always get the chicken and broccoli combo and wonton soup. Fairly priced as well.

Great Wall is our go to Chinese place in Middletown. They are so nice and their food is great!…read more Our usual go to items are some combination of the following: sesame chicken (ask for it extra spicy!), pork lo mein, pan fried dumplings, fried wontons, bbq spare ribs, sweet and sour chicken, and garlic chicken. And of course, egg rolls! The spare ribs can be hit or miss if you get good pieces or fatty pieces. The sesame chicken is my absolute favorite, it's always crispy and the sauce is always good...hit or miss how spicy they get it, but I do love it when it's very spicy!! My husband loves to get the bbq rib and chicken fingers combo (chicken fingers are basically the same as sweet and sour chicken). Pro tip: If you order this, they don't automatically give you the red sweet and sour sauce for the chicken, so be sure to ask for the sauce when placing your order! I can't speak to the other items on the menu, as we usually get 2-3 of our favorites whenever we go. But the food is always fresh and hot, and they're very accommodating of special requests. I see now that they have online ordering, but we haven't tried it yet. This is definitely the best Chinese food in Middletown!

However tonight I noticed something, perhaps a way to cut back and save money, but not cool in my book. Pork fried rice is a standard whenever I order, but I noticed the pork was almost missing from the dish. Upon looking closer, I found it, but the prices are cut so small now, they blend in with the other parts of the dish. When I say small, since when is the pork smaller than a grain of rice ? Literally the size of the head of a ballpoint pen. Pls don't start getting cheap on us customers, I would hate to look elsewhere next time .

Pint of chicken chow mein. Flavorless and veggies were cut too large. Would never order this again.

S4. Orange chicken. This is in the chef special section so it only comes in large size. Crispy chicken, broccoli under it. A little spicy.

Pint of shrimp with snow peas. Shrimp seemed to have some sort of coating. Was in brown sauce which was odd. Good mix of veggies though.

i had the best hot and sour soup i have ever tried excellent…read more the owner is a great chef. ALSO Great Thai fried rice. now i want to go back and try everything on her MENU fantastic food and atmosphere

"Down to the banana republics, things aren't as warm as…read morethey seem None of the natives are buying any second-hand American dreams" (Jimmy Buffett) Lunch at the Banana Leaf was a real triad of contrasts, as we had very positive reactions to their atmosphere and food but a very different experience with service. First of all, the décor is very pretty, with a thatched roof/tiki bar-like design at their small bar, painted designs and artwork on the walls, pretty light fixtures, sculptures, and Tiffany style glass. There is plenty of room between the tables, so you really have a sense of privacy and are not crowded at all. I love Thai food, and I loved my lunch. I ordered a small Coconut Tom Yum soup ($6), and it was a10/10. It had the coconutty mildly spiced hot and sour flavor I love and was loaded with chicken, A big bowl of just that soup would have been enough for my munch any day of the week. I also ordered their Spicy Eggplant with Squid ($18) stir-fried with bamboo shoot, snow peas, string beans, carrots, bell peppers and basil leaves in spicy basil sauce. It was served with a side of white rice. It was a great example of why I love Thai food because the flavor was fantastic. The portion was big enough that we brought home half for another day. Now, as far as we experienced, the real clunker here was the service. Perfunctory, unsmiling, non-engaging, robotic are words that come to mind. What a shame, because just a little effort really would have made a big difference.
