Pineapple Teriyaki Wings w/ Chicken Fried Rice Combo
    Anthony S.

I decided to order here out of the options in Alley 51. The man taking orders was smiling and friendly and informative. I decided on the Pineapple Teriyaki combo with chicken fried rice. When I opened the box of PIPING hot and fresh food I was pleasantly surprised just how big the wings were! And a nice portion of the rice too! The flavors of both were delicious and I had enough for two meals. I love how you can see a lot of their meat in the window and how clean it appeared. I'll definitely be back!

    Scallion chicken combo with rice

Quick service and amazing food! Great Wall is inside of a food hall so there was plenty of seating. I got two combos--one with char siu and crispy pork belly, and another with scallion chicken and rice. The scallion chicken came with mustard greens, bok choy, and a marinated egg. Both combos were packed with flavor. The barbecue meats are juicy and perfectly cooked. The char siu had the right balance of sweet and savory, the pork belly was super crispy, and the scallion chicken was tender and flavorful. I came in an hour before closing and was impressed that everything was still fresh and fully available. I also tried their red bean shaved ice, which came with red bean, taro balls, jelly, popping boba, and sago--it was refreshing and delicious, a perfect way to end the meal. This spot is definitely worth returning to--I'll be coming back often!

I am literally writing this review as I eat the food so you know it had to be good! First, this is a small Chinese restaurant located in the food court of the super G market. So if you're looking for it from the street, you need to come in the super G in order to find it. Once you get in here though don't be distracted because there are a lot of other options. I definitely would vouch for the great wall though. They have the classic glass window with the smoked and roasted meats hanging, including pork belly, ribs, and roast duck. We decided to go with the pork belly and roast duck combo over rice with vegetables and we also got the sesame, chili garlic wings, which are stupid good. I would definitely recommend as the price was really affordable for the portion sizes and food was ready in about 10 minutes which was enough time for us to go order some Boba.

    Duck Dinner

Idk why but I was craving the Peking Duck I had over 10 years ago while visiting Beijing. This was better! The skin was so crunchy and crisp to perfection. The meet was so good. Duck comes with a lot of bones, so that's expected. I love the green stuff that was served on the side. I requested no eggs, which was honored. I think something was up with the ordering kiosk because I had an order of rice, though it already had rice in the bowl. I didn't talk to anyone but the food was good.

    Seafood Hot Pot (Spicy)

Tried this place for this first time because a friend had order and loved it. I was so happy with what I ordered! I ordered the Seafood Hot Pot (Spicy) and it was amazing! I didn't know what to actually expect but it was too good! There was an ingredient I had never seen before included, and the people behind the counter told me exactly what it was and how to order it from Super G Mart and all. They were very nice! It was karaoke night so the vibes were fun and festive around the entire food hall! Definitely adding them to my favorites!

    Bbq pork

I was excited to see that it has barbecue pork and it looks like they cook it there. My daughter really likes it when we were in China, and I bought a pound and took it home for new year celebration. I wanted to get half a pound but they wouldn't let me. It was the worst bbq pork I have ever had. It's dry and had a nasty after taste. Not sure if it's been sitting for too long, and what kind of msg it was added. Highly disappointed.

The food is always consistent, and that's what keeps me coming back here. I visited during lunch, and they only had two servers working, so service was a little slower than usual. To start, I ordered the spring roll, then had the Wan Fu Scallops and the Singapore Rice Noodles. The spring roll was crispy and hit the spot. The Singapore noodles were packed with flavor and had a nice spicy kick. If you're not big on spice, I'm sure they can tone it down if you ask. The Wan Fu Scallops were tender and just as delicious. I've been here several times, and the quality never disappoints. Consistency is hard to find, but Wan Fu gets it right every time. The soup was bland and lacked flavor. But the worst part was the portions. The portions are small. The beef came in one of those round black containers and it was less than half full. Paid $27 for Chinese takeout and had to find a snack within 30 mins. Most likely will not return.

As far as atmosphere, it's super casual, no cocktails, not much in the way of ambiance. Think of it as primarily for takeout, with table service. No matter! You come here for the huge portions of Chinese comfort food. Service is excellent and friendly. I could've spent a half hour with that menu, as I wanted to make sure I ordered the right things. This is the perfect place to share, as with many Chinese food that's done right and well, you order protein dishes apart from vegetable dishes. So we had Beijing veg duck, dry pot, eggplant with basil (they were out of the string beans that I really wanted to try) and shumai to start. All of it was delicious. I knew the eggplant was a bit of a risk, as so many places will serve you rubbery, bitter horrors. Not the case here! It's sweet with melt-in-your-mouth texture and I appreciated that it had other veggies mixed in with the generous portion of eggplant. The protein dishes are full of taste and texture-- no need to add seasoning to the dry pot (perhaps a little more spice but they have red pepper flakes on the table). I'd expected more of a bean curd skin/yuba for the duck, but instead it's seitan (I believe) and chewy in a good way. The shumai was tasty but too starchy and full of rice when I expected protein. Not sure I'd order that again with so many other tempting apps, including other dumplings, on the menu. If this were in my neighborhood, I'd be over the moon, because I'd finally have a viable option for good Chinese takeout. As a vegan, normally I'm regulated to the same old Buddhist's Delight. Ma Ma is such a treasure.

It is busy enough that plenty of other people had also called in for takeout. The price was higher than I thought it would be by a significant margin; I thought something was off but then rechecking their menu I saw it was indeed $20 for a vegetable entree. On the upside, they did offer brown rice at no extra charge. Still, I'll get three meals out of it and as someone who eats a lot of takeout, this was not a great value. In terms of quality, I was thrilled to find that they offered a stir-fried okra dish. This is a ubiquitous Indian dish, and of course okra is common throughout the tropics globally, but I'd never seen this offered at a Chinese restaurant before. And the rapid cooking technique typical of the cuisine produced a delightfully crisp vegetable, which went great with a black bean sauce and some very hot dried chilis. On the other hand, their interpretation of ma po tofu had some fermented broad beans but minimal vegetables (sometimes you get mushrooms or peas or at least some leeks or something) and no numbing sensation. They had a bean curd roll dish that I enjoyed, and some quality dumplings. Overall, not huge portions and a mix of okay to great quality.

Thick and super stuffed. Forget that. It doesn't exist here. The mini egg roll was dry and you couldn't even tell what was in it. The wonton soup broth had a great flavor but the wontons were not fresh. They were gummy in a creepy kinda way. Frozen with freezer burn was my best guess. The sesame chicken was super super super OVERFRIED. Dry as a bone inside. This had clearly been pre fried and then fried again and dipped in a sticky sauce with weird texture. Kind of tasted like sesame chicken but the texture of the sauce and the dry chicken were disgusting. I spit it out. This place is a nicer version of Panda Express.
