Fortune Cookie II is my neighborhood Chinese restaurant. They are always there for me when I need some quick delicious take out. They are consistent, fast and they even remember my normal order. I've been coming here for years and have tried several things on the menu. My staples are Chicken in Garlic Sauce with Broccoli combo with fried rice and egg roll, Crispy Scallion Chicken combo with fried rice and egg roll, Chicken Fried Rice, Chicken Wings, Singapore Curry Noodles and their Chili Garlic Oil. Their portions are amazing. We always have enough food for our family of 6 and some for leftovers. The food is good as leftovers also. First time buying food from Fortune Cookie (7.31.20). Ordered the following items: House fried rice, cheese wontons, spring rolls and then a fried chicken wing and fried rice plate. Good - Food flavor is good and this is the first Chinese restaurant in Charlotte that actually puts bean sprouts in their fried rice. Unlike other Asian restaurants in the area the prices are reasonable for most items. Bad - They cheat you with the chicken wings. They say that 6 wings come with the order but they really only give you 3 wings and cut them in half. That is what turned a 3 star review into a 2 star review. Not cool! People are paying for 6 wings they should receive 6 whole wings not 3 wings cut in half. DONT CHEAT YOUR CUSTOMERS. Will return and buy other things but not the wings. read more

This place has really gone down over the last few years. We ordered shrimp & broccoli, general Tso's chicken and chicken and shrimp in garlic sauce, spring rolls and crab rangoons. Let's start with the positives first: the person who took our order was friendly and the food was ready in about 8 minutes and the temperature of the food was hot. The egg rolls were fine. The crab rangoons were tasty as usual. The shrimp were not cooked with the broccoli in the sauce. They were white and limp like they just opened up some shrimp Cocktail and decided pour those shrimp on top of some broccoli. The General Tso's chicken tasted like fish and outer coating was gummy. The fried rice had no vegetables or egg in it -- NONE!!! It was just greasy white rice. This food was probably the absolute worst Chinese food I've ever had, including mall Chinese food. Nobody in my party finished their food. We put it in the trash. I won't go back and they better not blame the nasty food on COVID 19. read more

Almost always 10/10 They gave me a rather overcooked hard egg roll that I had to eat around... that's just something they had to see and could have left out but may have been too busy to try to remake. I love Chinese food and this is one of my favorites spots in Charlotte. They have the best fried rangoon and the fried rice is delicious! I always get the shrimp and beef fried rice and an order of crab rangoons. I normally order my food to go and they are pretty efficient, never had to wait more than 10 minutes for my order. They also have great chicken wings, so crispy and the seasoning is very unique. Their price is pretty fair and the staff friendly. I've never had problems with my orders and Ive been going to this place regularly for almost 3 years. One last thing, if you do not like onions ask them to not add to your fried rice, because they add a lot of onions. read more

Let me start with the good by saying this place had the best steamed rice i've had outside of home. I was blown away by the rice for sure, they definitely are doing that right!!! Sadly, the rest of the meal followed with disappointment. I ordered sesame chicken with some fried dumplings. The dumplings were great, exactly what you'd expect, comes with the cup of sauce and all. The chicken however was either microwaved leftovers, or cooked wayyyyy too long. I was spitting out pieces of the breading that were rock solid. I hope it's just a fluke because the pictures looked great and was their top recommended dish. I used to come here weekly when i worked down the road. I love the place. Very quick. Food is very hot when it comes out. (But really..... why wouldn't it be??) My husband and I love ordering it on Sundays and being lazy. Our go to is egg drop soup (one of the best I've ever had), Hunan chicken meal (chicken, baby corn, water chestnuts, peppers, broccoli and mushrooms in a spicy sauce) and the chicken and broccoli meal. The meals are $5.95-7.95 depending on what you get and they come with fried rice and an egg roll. The meals are huge!! You will easily have leftovers. Nice place on the inside and run very well. I ordered takeout for lunch and it was ready right when I arrived. Always a plus! Thing to remember: they only take cash for orders $5 and under. I ordered the chicken & broccoli lunch special that comes with an egg roll (or crab rangoon - your choice) and choice of plain white or plain fried rice. I chose the fried rice and my gripe is that the fried rice just seemed like lightly colored white rice. In my experience, fried rice usually has egg, onions, peas, and carrots. This has none of that. Very bland and verrrrry plain. On the other hand, the chicken was really good. I'll probably try them again because they're near my workplace and can satisfy my chinese food craving. My wife and I have lived down in the Ayrsley area for two years now, and Fortune Cookie II has definitely been our go-to fix for almost the entire time. We tried two other places, and they just didn't match up. The value you get here is unreal. Most of the combo meals are around $5.75 and come with fried or white rice & an egg roll or crab Rangoon. The best part, aside from the quality, is that you can usually make two meals out of it! Their egg-drop soup is delicious, so we always order that so split and start with. Their crab rangoon are also a good starter, as are their coconut shrimp! For main courses, our favorites are the Broccoli Chicken, Hunan Chicken, Chicken lo mein, or the scallion chicken (add broccoli). You seriously can't go wrong. We tend to get things with the steamed chicken, but the fried chicken with the scallion is delicious. You can't go wrong here. The service is extremely fast. Good customer service but food was horrible. I couldn't chew the meat (sesame chicken) enough to swallow it, it was like it turned into gum with each bite. They actually up charge for vegetable fried rice so I chose white rice which was actually brown & flavorless. I didn't get the spring roll I asked for, instead I got some roll with pork in it.
