Got some takeout for the fam while we are enjoying the week at the coast. The Hot and Sour soup was very tasty - lived up to it's name - spicy hot and sour - which is what I really wanted. The "crab pots" are more commonly known as crab puffs, they were well received (not being a crab person, I didn't have a first hand experience). The vegetable fried rice was good - making my vegetarian daughter happy. We also had the mar far chicken - something I'm just learning to appreciate - think chicken nuggets going to China and coming back with a sesame breading. The potstickers were very tasty. I was able to call in my order, show up 10 minutes later and it ware ready as soon as I paid for it. highly recommended, esp when compared to the other choice in seaside. read more

We made the mistake of eating in the bar portion of the restaurant. We should have known better. The loudest, foul-mouthed drunk locals seem to inhabit this place. The service is sub-par because the waitress caters mostly to the most obnoxious drunks instead of waiting on people who just want to dine without listening to the loud drunks yelling at each other. We went in on Wednesday to celebrate my sister's birthday, the service was crappy, they couldn't get our orders right. The first waitress was wearing torn up jeans that brought our waters to us, she put them at one end instead of giving them to each person, which in turn we had to get ourselves. It took awhile for our main waitress to come to take our orders,when she finally came to take our order, she said that it was her first time doing it alone.. after going back into the kitchen, I could hear her laughing about something, when you have a restaurant full of people, you don't want to be heard goofing around. We had to ask for tea which we shouldn't have too. We were talking to ourselves that the service was slow and that it sucked, the girl who gave us our water, was rude saying that she was sorry for slow service with a smile on her face while giving us a thing of tea for 5 people. When we finally got our order, it was wrong two times, finally the front waitress had to verify what we ordered and got the food correctly on the third try. The food was good but the service was crap. We will never go back due to the service. Might want to look at who you have working for you and how they treat people. read more

I love chinese food. Like I never get sick of it. I guess i should specify American Chinese food cause I'm not super adventurous when it comes to chinese. And it seems hard to find good chinese with fresh ingredients. That being said this place it's pretty tasty. You gotta order the right thing. I love general tso's chicken but it wasn't very good here. But their bbq pork is tender and tastes fresh, I love their vegetable lo mein, the egg Foo young is super tasty. Sometimes some places make is like...slimy? I don't know how to describe it but this places is yummy and the texture is good. Awesome fried shrimp and...pretty much everything is good just wasn't a fan of the Tso's. Closed on Mondays so plan accordingly. If you order takeout give them a little extra time. It's never ready when I get there and I live about 20 minutes away. That doesn't bother me cause I don't mind when places take a little extra time as long as everything tastes good. Remember those Chinese Finger Cuffs from back in the day? Trying to find good Chinese food on the coast is much like being stuck in one of these. So many middle of the road, tired, uninspired options that exist only because of the rate of booze served and lottery machines relative to the amount of alcoholic burnouts here on the coast. Great Wall stands right there in that infamous club. Went there for a lunch meeting and was not impressed at all. Greeted by a manic (I am assuming) manager who was just abrasive and odd. If this was her style of personality it was better suited for a truck stop or Al Anon Meeting. You know the old joke what is the Clatsop County mating call (shake a prescription pill bottle)? Yeah...fun times on the coast. Food was extremely over-priced, especially for the lack of flavour and quality. When the lunch specials come out faster than McDonald's cardboard cuisine...you do the math. Broccoli chicken was bland, the chicken seemed parboiled and rubbery, and the broccoli was not too fresh, nor crisp. Soups were oily and just bland. Food temperatures were on the low side. I am assuming their pre-made items are sitting in a not so hot (in more than one way) environment. If the manic manager is too hyped up for you, switch gears with the babe in the dreads whose monosyllabic responses, coupled with her blazed pupils, and slow motion speed. Surreal background music that ranged from elevator hits to church hymns...WTF?? I think my first image of this place really sums it all up. When the urinal in the lavatory is clogged with vomit when you arrive thirty minutes after opening....diner be warned. Go to New Garden Asian in Seaside and thank us later. read more

Pretty much the worst Chinese restaurant in the area. I recently moved ed here and have tried other places far better and much more reasonably priced. The service was really poor...the waitress should not be in the food service profession. First time ever, I had a waitress argue with me when we asked for a side of white rice. Rude!!! Food was no where near authentic. Everything was bland and tasted like it was from a grocery store deli. This is possibly the worst food I've ever eaten. My take out food included chow main, fried rice, egg roll and fried shrimp. Worried when driving the five minutes back to my place, kept smelling the most awful bad seafood smell. I'm not a picky eater, I could not take a second bite of anything. How can you screw up rice? Well this place can. Pork in chow mein was like rubber. I spit out to see if it was rubber. Fried shrimp was almost spoiled, by the bad smell and raw batter surrounding shrimp. We were looking for Chinese while visiting in Seaside and found the Great Wall. When we walked in there was a sign, take out only. We were disappointed, but were told we could eat in the bar. We did ! It was definitely a local gathering place. We were happy to find we could order combination family style. The food was great and very generous !! The bartender/waitress took care of a room full of customers with ease and friendliness. The place was very clean and comfortable. We will eat there again when in the area. read more

One of my favorite spots in this area. The food is really nice, especially the lemon chicken and the string beans. This is truly a local hangout, so don't expect to be pampered if you're a tourist, but go anyway and you will not be disappointed. The staff is incredible. read more

The food was VERY expensive, and not worth the money at all! I wouldn't even give them one star. The food was SUPER bland, and the fried rice tasted like white rice with nothing on top not even salt. In the broccoli beef the beef didn't taste good at all! I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, unless you like bland expensive food, then it's for you! We ordered barely any food for all four of us and they charged us $50, and we counted it all up and it was only $41. Most disgusting and nasty food and experience ever my sweet boyfriend took me out to dinner after a very long hard day at work we waited what seemed like forever after the waitress/ bartender ignored us finally ordered our food. We got our food to go and went straight home live in Astoria by the time we got home we realized they messed up our order didn't give us half the food we ordered then what we did order was overcooked disgusting and rock hard or general tso's chicken look like overcooked nuggets from McDonald's that were so rock hard we couldn't even cut through them then our noodles and vegetables were completely mushy like disgusting was she and in a bunch of liquid sauce but it was more like disgusting soup I'm so highly disappointed when we call them immediately to explain the misunderstanding with our order we can hear the lady calling us a dumbass over the phone to the Cooks I work in Seaside with a public and I will tell everyone I know this is the worst place to eat I'm so disappointed is absolutely disgusting and I will make sure we are never going back and I am going to spread the words make sure no one I know eats here either read more

We ate there a couple nights ago... my son is a hot and sour soup junkie... he got a large bowl and it was horrible...he wouldnt eat but a little of it ..it basically had nothing in it and tasted like a bowl of soy sauce he said... food is so so .. and overpriced and what youd normally get with your meal elsewhere costs 2 or 3 dollars extra.... my meal was 13 dollars on the menu ... they charged me 14.50 and 3 bucks extra for pork fried rice instead of white... I paid 17 bucks for less of a meal that I get for 9 bucks at Honk Kong in astoria... AND theirs comes with a cup of hot and sour soup that they wanted another 1.50 for here...we wont be back... read more

We went on Easter Sunday at noon. They had one server and two teenage hosts working. It wasn't very busy. I am a server myself so totally doable with the help provided but we had the worst service I think I have ever had. Our server was rude. Would walk right past us as we were calling out to her to please take our order, silverware since there wasn't enough, the drinks she forgot, and again for our check. Even other diners commented on her behavior. The food was ok but due to our treatment we won't be back!!! We have lived in Seaside for 17 years and this was the worst treatment we have ever had. The Great Wall is one of only a few Chinese restaurants I have found on the coast. This one I think is the best one I've eaten at so far on the coast. I tried their beef noodle with veggies lunch special. They offer lunch specials everyday for around $7.00 and they come with soup and some with an egg roll and fried rice. They give you a lot of food too. Anyway, the service was very good and so was the food. The wait staff brought the soup out right away and the food was out in less than 10 minutes. This would be a three star but what tips the scale is the Wonton Soup. It's a ten spot but well worth it. Huge bowl, really a meal in itself. Loaded with chinese pork, vegetables and delicious wontons. The rest of the meal was fairly typical for Chinese dining but I'd go back just for the soup. Another great find on the Oregon coast! This restaurant is clean, service is fast and friendly, and the food was excellent. Some of the best house fried rice I've had anywhere. One of our favorite stops when we go to the coast. Their chinese food is TO DIE FOR. The Mar Far Chicken is so crunchy and flavorful, the hot and sour soup amazing, pork foo young is very well cooked with an awesome gravy, and the pork chow mein has an amazing flavor I have never tasted with chow mein before. The service is always quick, efficient, and friendly. And I always feel a warm welcome when we come here after spending the afternoon at the beach for alittle pick me up. As a local, I have sadly watched this place lose its original good taste. The meat/ seafood dishes are still ok, but don't order anything with noodles or pancakes! You never know what they will sub. Did not complain last year when they used Mexican tortillas for my Mu Shu pancakes. Just never ordered that dish again. But it was too much last night when our Singapore Rice Noodles were actually angel hair pasta from the nearby Costco. Won't be back. read more
