Although Seattle is known for being diverse, with a fair number of ethnic retailers including a variety of East Asian and Southeast Asian supermarkets, this shopping center is especially popular with Asian and Asian-American locals since it combines many retailers and restaurants under one roof. It's a one-stop shop for groceries, baked goods, bubble tea and other Asian drinks, multiple Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese and Korean restaurants, a Chinese apothecary, and home goods (from furniture and decor to a kitchen stove store), a couple hair salons, a nail salon, karaoke restaurant and last but not least a bank branch. 99 Ranch is a big draw as the largest Chinese supermarket in the nearby area, both it and Mei Wa bakery next door carry Chinese steamed buns and pastries. I'll be honest in terms of selection, prices (and flavors/techniques for Mei Wa), these are kinda average though are enough to satisfy if you have a craving. Mama Dough and Seoul Tofu are solid restaurants from eating at each 2-3 times. Mia Sugarcane produces some delicious sugarcane drinks though nowadays on the pricier side. Boba Tea Lab is pretty standard bubble tea. I've yet to try Big Bowl Spicy Cuisine and several others, including LiuYiShou Hotpot which is one of the newer restaurants, that also has 22 other locations in North America including NYC, SF, Chicago, Boston, and Vancouver and Toronto areas in Canada. All in all very convenient and generally clean and easy to get around. Very popular so during peak weekend times expect a very full parking lot; the spaces are also tight so you have to be careful when parking and opening car doors. read more

Shopping and dining in Kent, Washington... My high school classmate told me that there was 99 Ranch nearby. Since we don't have any in Hawaii, I went to check it out! Yes! 99 Ranch was there and open for business... inside of the Great Wall Shopping Mall! Not many other shops (real estate office, bank, salon, etc.) were open at this early hour, but I didn't find a takeout place with steamed dimsum and baked custard tarts. Yay for breakfast! It was nice to sit at a bench and relax a bit in the air-conditioning. I appreciated the free parking, too! read more

All I can say is that the parking situation has remained the same, where the right side of the Great Wall shopping center is a big mess, with very tight spaces with cars parked really close to another, almost hitting each other. The rest of the spaces are somewhat bigger, but anytime we go, whether early in the morning, afternoon or evening time, the place is hella crowded!!! Hard to find a frickin' parking space. The different restaurants, Bubble Tea places and 99 Ranch Asian grocery store inside the shopping mall are fine to go to from time to time. There are a number of Boba joints, Chinese bakeries, a Dumpling place, Chinese food places, a hair salon, an herbal medicine store, and a few other vendors. Has a good variety of Asian retail businesses. Been to Mama Dough, Bambu, 99 Ranch and a couple of others and have received great customer service for the most part. The Korean restaurant was my favorite when it was open, but their service was so-so even though the food was great. I love the Great Wall! I hadn't been there in a long time since I'm a little far south, but it's such a cool place. I typically go in for 99 Ranch Market, which is the large Asian in grocery store inside. However, they have all kinds of fun stuff in there. Rating based on that we just don't go here often except to get roast duck at Ranch 99 which means that there are other spots that we prefer to go for Asian dining and Asian ingredients or other types of goods. There are often some tables set up in the middle of the main walkway, with shiny statues for sale and whatnot. The interior itself is rather drab - it's the vendors themselves that provide the excitement. There are a few dining spots and other types of vendors. On the outside is a larger restaurant, which is very good. We used to eat here frequently, particularly for Chinese and/or Korean. The location is somewhat convenient, close to two main roads, close to IKEA and close to Valley Medical. The parking lot is vast and at the same time usually crowded. The main draw is undoubtedly the Ranch 99 supermarket which is bustling. We've never had a significant concern regarding service. Perfectly adequate. read more

There are many businesses inside of Great Wall Shopping Mall, including a large Asian supermarket, several Chinese and Vietnamese restaurants, plenty of bubble tea and dessert shops, a bakery, a hair and nail salon, home decor shops, a Korean clothing store, and more. The mall isn't fancy or bright, but it gets the job done by bringing together a variety of Asian storefronts in one space. Also, there's free parking and the parking lot is spacious! The few eateries I visited were pretty good and I enjoyed the supermarket's wide selection of East Asian foods. If I lived in the area, I would visit whenever I'd want to get Asian groceries and pick up some snacks from the eateries for good measure. read more

Aside from free and easy parking, this is my first place to go to whenever I'm in Seattle area. This place is not too crowded and have lots of options. From boba teas, dessert, noodle soup restaurant this place will keep you busy. Not to mention they have 99 ranch market which is always great. I am giving this small shopping center a 4 star because I appreciate it for what it is: a small, exclusively Asian shopping center anchored by a 99 Ranch grocery, several eateries that include Chinese, Vietnamese, bakery and boba drinks among others. There is a traditional herb shop and some other non-food businesses. The mall has probably seen better days according to other reviews going back several years (looks like the Daiso used to be here but is now in Southcenter Mall). I am not sure what impact the pandemic has had on it, there are some empty stores, but I enjoyed shopping in the grocery and trying one of the restaurants. I will definitely have it on my itinerary to continue checking out the food and grocery when I plan to be down at Southcenter for shopping. read more

My 4 Stars rating is very much a scaled and generous rating. Straightly from a "mall" perspective, it's never been particularly lively and there are always some unoccupied store fronts. This is very unfortunate given what this mall is - a very conveniently concentrated Asian everything - grocery store, multiple restaurants, multiple eateries, hair salons, and other non-food related businesses. Though I wish it was newer, updated, sparkling everything, I still fully appreciate this mall as is. With so many immediate competitions, any business that survives here have to be of some substance. You're not going to find any "2 stars" food places, and if "3 stars", it would be due to service than for food. The structure itself is becoming dated now, including the parking lot. Some maintenance would be nice, but hey, it's COVID time, no one has the money. I've been coming here since it was first built. I'll keep coming as long as the businesses continue. The stores and restaurants in the Great Wall Shopping Mall are not bad. 99 Ranch Market is in this mall together with some juice bar, bakery, and restaurants. But the shopping itself looks outdated. Not enough lights. The parking lot is a leak of maintenance! Many damages without repair! This is the 3rd time I am there. It gave me the same feeling as the first two times. I have loved this shopping center since I was... 13 I think? It's a cute little mall with a variety of shops, a great big seafood/dimsum restaurant attached and the main attraction, the asian supermarket. The shops routinely swap out over the years, a few have never really changed, but half the fun is seeing what's in there from time to time. The other half of the fun is shopping in the supermarket. The prices are way better than HMart, their bakery is divine, their seafood is a little like an aquarium you can eat, the roasted ducks are scrumptious, and the variety they manage to pack in a small space while keeping it organized and clean impresses me every time. They take EBT without flinching, their produce section is really stellar, and let's face it, I'm usually there for snacks and ingredients I can't procure anywhere else, and I'm always finding new things to try. I don't know if they still have the fresh roasted chestnuts in the Winter, but I hope so because they were always my favorite. All the restaurants are good, it really is a gastric paradise, and I'm largely food driven so that's what I'm paying attention to. Ahh the Great Wall Shopping Mall. Le'ts be honest, I'm here for one store and only one store: 99 Ranch...AKA awesome snack land. The grocery store most certainly isn't the only thing here though, it's just the anchor store. This place may not be the most modern or cleanest but it has a lot under one roof. There is an Asian supermarket which is the largest draw to this mall as well as a lot of restaurants. There are some shops including a bakery and a few places to get bubble tea. There is a Vietnamese video place, a hair salon, and even a mobile phone store. There is a store that sells Chinese imports as well as a travel agency and an insurance agency. If you have ever been to the Fubon Mall in Portland Oregon, this place is a lot like that. The 99 Ranch Market is fairly big but it's age is showing. It seems to cater more to the Chinese Community but you can find a lot of different Asian items here. It is not the cleanest or newest store but they probably have most of what you need. If you are looking for mock meats or tofu this place has a large selection. They have a lot of different kinds of seafood, including a lot that is fresh in the tank. They will cut it up for you if needed. There are the usual meats and poultry as well as some of the more non-traditional meats. I have gotten some good deals on veggies here and there is a bar with hot food too. There are several restaurants in here and there are two that I really like. There is a Jang Soo Tofu and Korean BBQ restaurant which is good. I have also eaten at Spicy Chong Qing which is a Szechuan restaurant and I really like the food. The menu has a lot of pictures which will help you make up your mind. There are also posters on the wall of the food. If you are in the mall give Spicy Chong Qing a try. There is a Hong Kong and also a Vietnamese restaurant and a noodle house is opening soon. There is a small Vietnamese bakery where you can get banh mi sandwiches as well as cookies and other baked goods. If you have the kids with you there is an area by 99 Ranch Market where there are some arcade games. Whenever I come here with my niece and nephew they enjoy playing the games. The parking lot is big but it can fill up, so be warned. I was trying to pull into a space where a car was pulling out and I had my signal light on and someone actually came from the other side and just pulled into the space like I wasn't even there. I haven't heard of this mall until recently. I was taking "paths less traveled" this summer due to road construction on I-5 into Seattle and noticed a sign for this place. I became very curious about it and wanted to stop by some time. Our friends wanted to give us the 99 Ranch Market experience which one of their locations is in this very mall. So I actually came to this mall sooner rather than later. The shops in this mall are mostly all Asian oriented. There are tea shops, Chinese bake shops, boba tea shops and restaurants of ethnicity of the Far East. The mall is not terribly large but it holds a good variety of things. The building itself looks like it has been around for a while and looks like it has gone through at least one remodel on the inside. Going off of other reviews it seems like the place looked more run down before. The corridors are by no means upper crust but nice and most of the tenants here keep their places clean and have a fresh presentation to them. read more

I was so excited when I initially passed by this huge Asian super mall. From the outside, it has restaurants, marketplaces, and little eateries that house a huge Asian community. Anchoring on my excitement, I came here on a Sunday morning and only found the marketplace to be open. The supermarket itself was a Ranch 99 market, and it was completely disappointing. The whole mall reeked of butchered meats, and it looked like a ghost town. The market itself was poorly organized and while I grabbed a shopping cart, I only found about 3 items to purchase. I bought one plastic bowl for washing rice, and a bottle of aloe drink. I wanted to buy some ginger but oddly enough they only sell them in bulk bags that hold about 4-5 roots of ginger. I only was hoping to purchase one root. In addition, while they had a wide variety of cuts and meat options, I wasn't sure if I trusted the hygiene of the market all together. I was hoping this shopping mall would be my next weekly Hmart replacement but sad to say, I won't be back. Was completely turned off from this experience. read more

Ranch 99 is a centralized area in the middle of desolate Kent that has all of the Asian stuff you could possibly want and also offering competitive prices compared to Uwajimaya. I love when I'm driving to Ranch 99, and all I'm thinking is that it looks like some place you would put an airport. My family cannot have a proper meal without having bought SOMETHING from Ranch 99, whether they are making curry, broth, stir-fry, hot-pot, sushi, or fried chicken wings. Most ingredients were sourced from here, and I don't blame them. I can always rely on this place to have something that I cannot find else in the east side. Something I would always watch is their produce, like all other supermarkets. I have seen wilted water spinach (one of my favorite vegetables) that are too old to be sold but were sold anyway. Make sure to grab the fresh, seasonal produce. Basically, this place is a Costco for Asian people. You cannot leave without buying something that wasn't on your original grocery list. And no, this place does not offer an "oriental experience," this is just plain wrong and oppressive terminology to describe Asian shops. read more

Sorry to say it, but man this place is ghetto. It starts with the filthy parking lot, complete with sketchy characters mulling about. You're not only at risk of theft, but also of getting a nice new ding or dent from a clueless driver. I came back to my car to find my side mirror knocked off. Great clientele here! Inside, you'll find no fewer than 5 places to get bubble tea. So I suppose that's a plus if you like bubble tea. There's a section in the middle filled with old, outdated video games. I think this is to help really support the ghetto feel that begins in the parking lot. It also feels dark and cavernous, rather than vibrant and welcoming like other malls. The real coup de grace is the restrooms, though. If you ever wanted to get that 3rd-world feeling without leaving the country, this is your chance. The bathrooms here seriously look like something out of a survival horror game. So nasty! I can't really say much about the restaurants, because after the dirty lot and grosser-than-gross bathroom, I lost my appetite. Got to get outta here and take a shower now. Ick! read more

I like the random mall kiosks, I like the dance dance revolution game that I can watch the AWESOMELY TALENTED kids play. I like the makeup/San Rio store. I like the super cheap phone accessories. So leaving Ikea, I see this map to "the Great Wall", so we hop in the car and decide to check it out. Approching this place is pretty awesome... it looks like it should have archers on the roof. However, we were quickly shocked at the absolutely packed parking situation (yes it was Sunday and there is a grocery store). I highly suggest parking in the back and avoiding the swooping car bonanza. The grocery store is amazingly well priced. There are a number of cute little resturants with lunch specials and an acrade composed of games that were definately good back in the day. Moreover, there are bakeries, and a place that sells Boba tea... of course you can look forward to those reviews later... There are also a number of places to buy foreign DVDs. You will find yourself watching the sample show on a plasma screen along with other passers-by. If international cinema isn't you're deal how about buying a high end Japanese toilet complete with sounds and buttons. Now that is something you can't get at Westlake. But what really should be said about the Great Wall is that it is not like other places, sure you can find all the goods here in other locations but the atmosphere is a bit like taking a tiny vacation. read more

An exceptional place to hang out with friends and family alike......This mall is very ethnic...after doing the rounds you'll notice that most of the businesses are mostly Asian... So in short you can have a tour of the South East in one roof ...and have a taste of their cuisines as well...isn't that cool... There is a Japanese,Filipino, Chinese, Thai, Korean,Vietnamese, and Taiwanese... Aside from the restaurants, there's a Filipino bakery that served not only breads but some savory mouth filling Filipino delicacies....there is one particular bread ..looks like a log with pineapple and cream cheese filling....Delicious..i am thinking of calling my friend if he can send me some via priority mail....seriously this bread is just so good, my daughter Camille can't stoptalking about it and literally asking me to send for it via the post Office. The supermarket located at the back offers everything you can ask for...cooked food to go..bakery..a sit down restaurant while food shopping, pharmacy, utencils, chocolates all kinds of teas..this of course aside fromthe usual meat, seaffods , fruits and vegetables. I always get a little sad walking into this place. You know know that in a matter of days any number of these stores is going to close in a couple of days. I did find a small shop that sold Asian candy by the quarter pound. They had some sort of candied fish which looked a little too advanced for me. read more

After walking out of The Great Wall Mall I felt like I had just been on a world wind cheap ass tour of the China, Vietnam, Philippine, Korea, Japan and Thailand. I think I can now say I've been to the Forbidden City, that is kind of what it looks like from the outside. They have a little bit of everything Asian you could ever want. Knock off designer bags, check. Pan De Sol, check. Anime DVD's, check. Banh Mi, check. Lucky bamboo, check. Dishware, check. Pho, check. Hello Kitty stuff, check. Facial waxing, check. Candied fish, check. See they have everything you might ever need if you ever wanted to fool your friends into thinking you'd been on a trip to the Orient. read more

Good, clean and organized Ranch 99. Already a plus. Pho, noodles, bahn mi sandwiches, and assorted Asian knickknacks and the like. There's nothing like it in St. Louis (I'm so deprived), so I was just thrilled to walk around and take in the Asianness. The parking lot looks tiny compared to what I would assume weekend crowds would be. Therefore, try to avoid this place on weekends. read more
