So this place reminds me of a dying mall, that still has stores open in it. I walked through here after going to Target for some water. I walked over to Dutch Brothers which is why I was walking past JC Penney, a store that has closed most areas where I am. I did get a beautiful picture of Mount Rainier, and that was a highlight. But the walk was long and the dark JCP was creepy. But, they have some pretty big-name stores inside and had it been earlier (and not quite so dark) I probably would have walked through the mall, however, I chose not to and walked around. I'd definitely hit up Target again, and if I wanted a place to walk around, I'd consider it. But, I don't know what they can do to rebrand, because they look like the mall closest to me which closed, so other than the Target, I wouldn't really want to come by. But there are some other great malls in the area and maybe they can go by and get some ideas about how to perk themselves up. read more

It's like stepping back into time walking into this mall. It's outdated but comfy and nostalgic. I def feel safe here and they have just about everything you need for a successful mall run without the super hustle and bustle of the bigger malls. I especially love that they have Target, Ulta, Old Navy, Victoria Secret, Jc Penny, just to name a few. I feel safe letting my 18 month run around without running into people. However; the food court is a little hit and miss. They have a lot of options but service and quality aren't the best. Overall, def a good place to go to for a shopping trip. read more

Fairly small mall in Puyallup. Pretty sure this is one of those places you don't come unless you're explicitly in the area...which is exactly how I ended up here. This mall is pretty dead. Overall clean and well maintained, but there are a TON of empty spaces and there's really not much to see. Looking for a specific shop? South Hill Mall or what I call the Puyallup Mall... well it's seen better days as well as unattached stores but still in the immediate parking area have had better years. There used to be a Toys R US in one of the nearby buildings but it now sits vacant and nothing has come to fill the vacancy. Inside the mall itself isn't much better. There are lots of vacant store fronts inside but the good news is that the majority of the spaces are filled rather than the other way around. And since that's the case it also has larger corporate companies to fill the spaces rather than entirely filled with mom and pop stores which isn't necessarily a bad thing but shows corporate interest still lingers at this mall. So it's not in the full fledged "dying mall" stage but if further vacancies increase it could. Still lots of big brands here but not like the larger Tacoma Mall. There is a attached Target, H&M, Macy's, Yankee Candle and more brands you associate with mall culture but as other reviews have mentioned this mall can come up lacking in other shopping compared to malls that are larger and don't have as much issues with keeping their vacancies filled. The road Metidian is often fairly congested if you are coming up from the south so patience is required to get to the mall or any of the surrounding stores not part of the mall development but getting off of 512 coming in from the west isn't too bad but could get congested as well during the Christmas season. read more

Pretty atypical mall with a basic Food Court, tech savvy Verizon store, charming aromatic Bath and Bodyworks, classic Spencer's gifts and all those staple essential shops and department stores you'd expect. They currently have a spirit halloween at South Hill that is pretty decent. A few outer businesses encompass the S.H. mall such as Panera Bread, Olive Garden, Red Robin and Applebee's.... which I find myself at often with friends when in town visiting. The salon at Regis inside the mall has great service though I believe they might be changing the brand and name down the line from what ice been told. The bathrooms stay in relatively nice shape as do things for kids (not too much). Parking is pretty abundant and all around every side and entrance whether coming thorough a specific mall entrance or cutting through from another store like Target or Dick's Sporting Goods. This mall is rarely ever over crowded and is a small underrated diamond in the rough because of it's smaller size and slower foot traffic... which to me makes for easier shopping and mall like needs as well as adventures... read more

We'd been shopping at this mall for ages and began noticing last year how many of the little shops had closed, it might be due to Covid? Nothing new was moving into the empty spaces. We did some holiday shopping here the other day and were truly amazed at how few shops were actually still hanging on. From Macy's, all the surrounding shops were out of business and it felt like a ghost town. Being so close the holidays we expected it to be busy with shoppers, but that wasn't the case. Most of usual mall stores are in this suburban mall with a few local extra touches. It's the area surrounding the indoor mall that has the real variety. Old fashioned parking lot in many sections with cars trying to crisscross so some caution needed there. A serious shopper could go on for hours but that's not me. I like this mall, is the only one in the area besides Tacoma mall. Now, is not as big as the Tacoma mall so check the stores available before you come to make sure they have it. It's never too busy (except for Christmas time) and is fairly clean. The food court could use more variety but I feel like everytime I go they have at least a new restaurant to try. The movie theater could also use improvement on the chairs. I used that movie theater for my daughter's bday in the past and everyone was very happy about it. The parking is extensive, currently going through some repair or construction on the sears/Macy area. There is a Bus station area too so if you need to get here by public transportation you have options. Otherwise the mall is right off the Freeway exit and its parking is also used for Puyallup fair shuttle. read more

I used to live in South Hill so I've seen the improvement this place has made (it's come a loooong way). South Hill Mall has all your typical stores, but due to the area it's filled with either rednecks or preppy white boys who all think they're better than you because they own a pair of Sperry's. I also don't like the food court here - it's SHIT. There's no Starbucks (however, they do have one in the Target) and all the places in the food court are weird knock-offs of big name chains. They do get an extra star for having a Cinnabon, though. I don't come to this mall if I don't have to, so note that. read more

South Hill Mall has a place where you can have your t-shirts made I went and bought an item from the T-shirt place and the guy stole my credit card information and bought himself some GrubHub I reported him to the mall and the manager told me that there's nothing they can do about it they're not going to get rid of him cuz he pays his rent on time. I want everybody to know do not buy anything from that t-shirt place. And I think it's disgusting that the South Hill Mall would allow that kind of business to happen long as they are getting paid that's all that's really important not the customers. read more

Potential. Potential. Potential. This mall in Puyallup has more potential than any other mall I've ever seen. Right now the pro to com ratio is probably 50/50, but I mean if they just added a few better stores and did a little bit of small stuff, people would actually GO to Puyallup to shop. We'll talk about that more later, but let's start with the pros. PROS: 1) The mall is very clean! You always see janitorial workers cleaning to the best of their ability and I have respect for bushinesses that take pride of ownership by the cleanliness of their stores 2) It's been recently renovated. This has given the mall a more modern and clean feel and looks WAY more inviting. 3) They have some DECENT stores such as: Target, Dick's Sporting Goods, JCPenny, Macy's Gamestop, among many others. 4) It's connected to a great movie theatre right off the the food court which is nice if you want to catch a show before or after shopping till' you drop. 5) The store employees and owners are always kind and helpful. I can't name one store where I've had a negative experience with. 6) The food court is big and has a nice selection. There are a many more that I don't have time to write, unfortunately :P CONS: 1) Like, another Yelper said, the design and construction is very odd and inconvenient. You always have to backtrack no matter where you are and it's just weird. 2) They lack the stores that really had huge value to a mall (ie: Forever 21, Nike, North Face, etc). 3) There can be lots of rambunctious and essentially creepy teenagers that flock in and around this place. Especially outside the stores like Dick's and Target. 4) It's already labeled as kind of a crappy mall, so it can be eerily empty and quiet which is sad :( Ok, there's probably a lots more pros and cons I'll probably have to come back and add later, but let's talk about what management, with A LOT of money and hard work, can remake this mall into something worthy. First, if they add more department stores like listed above, they'll get WAY more customers and will start being taken more seriously. Next, they just need to work on their image! More publicity and show how their changing their ways into become something like the Tacoma Mall. Would I recommend this mall? Yes, but, again don't expect too much :/ read more

My first visit to South Hill Mall was on 1/2. It's an OK place to shop. I wouldn't go out of my way to shop here, but if nearby, might stop in for a specific reason. There aren't any concierge services provided. There aren't any high-end stores, only one department store to speak of, and no stores to purchase electronics besides cell phones and video games. Macy's is here, but Sears and Penney's which are both dying out are the only other department stores. There is a Target as well. I haven't seen a Sears in business in the US in over a decade. The duplicity of stores in this mall repeats a few times over. There are two of each: Victoria Secret, AT&T, JCPenney, CellAXS, and Sephora is sandwiched inside one of the Penney's twins. Half of the mall appears to be unrecognizable, mom and pop operations. Stores that are current that I remember are Aeropostale, Old Navy, Fuego, Aveda, and Bath & Body Works. The mall is pretty clean and there are a lot of places to sit down. Haven't seen the inside of the movie theatre, but from the outside, it looks like it was built in 1983. South Hill mall is a very suburban mall. It is smaller, the assortment of stores is very "eclectic", as is the food court and the patrons who walk up and down the tiled corridors with their loot in hand. There are a few national stores which are recognizable, and then there are the stores that no one's ever heard of. Save to say, these stores still carry name brand items. I have to say, having the Target connected to the mall can be a bit weird, but it can help you kill 2 birds with 1 stone. The Old Country Buffet in the mall.... You could look at it from the stand point that it's cheap food, that's as fast or slow as you want it to be. Get your fill, and walk it off. Although that might not be such a wise choice if you're at the mall to try on some new jeans ;) The parking is pretty spread out, so it's pretty easy to score a good parking spot. Added bonus: the turned the Krispy Kreme into a Panera Bread! I love Panera! There are also a multitude of other types of food establishments within the mall parking lot that are easily accessible, as is the Toys R Us. The layout of the mall is a bit strange, and I have noticed a lot of the stores jump around from one location to another and the JC Penney is split up into two separate locations. If you don't mind possibly having to hunt for your store and walk a bit more, then you won't mind this mall and accept it for what it is. If not, I suggest trying to find the most up to date mall map when you get there :) Overall, this mall isn't a bad deal. A-Ok in my book. read more

Do you like mazes? Do you often dream you are a test mouse, crawling around aimlessly for your cheese? Then the South Hill Mall is for you. This mall experience starts with the array of small parking lots surrounding it. Accessing the in the right "spot" takes research and planning. For example, which of the TWO JCPenney's has kids shoes? The mall has recently been upgraded with new decor and tile. But it seems nothing has been done to expand the mall or its parking. This mall gets all its business from people that live south in the nether regions of the area. (Think Mt Rainier...) Mostly stopping because they do not want to venture farther north. I would venture to say, if they had a choice of a different mall, they would go there. HELPFUL NOTE: Get the "Point Inside" app for your smart phone, to help with the navigation to your cheese.... This app loads maps of the interior of malls for you. Never be lost in a mall again, staring at the map kiosk like a monkey doing a math problem.... read more

Call me a bitch but Southhill Mall is a big disappointment. Why might you ask? Well let me tell you. 1.) Every single other mall has free wifi while this mall CHARGES for their wifi. Ermm hello, we're here to spend money on the stores that pay you rent. Why pay for a service that should be complementary to your guests? 2.) The mall managers are kinda dicks. They walk around with their suits looking down at all the store owners. wtf? 3.) They can do a better job at keeping the outside of the mall looking nice and modern but you'll come across broken everything. The one star is for the friendly janitorial staff and the store owners. They are always nice and have smiles on their faces. They are the only reason I come back to this mall. read more

One of the worst malls I've ever been to. It's big enough, but the layout is weird and the stores here are of the "Make Your Own T-Shirt" and "As Seen On TV" variety. The food court looks depressing -- heck, the whole mall does. I lived in Puyallup for two years and would only visit South Hill Mall if I wanted to go to Target or Daiso. Daiso (Japanese dollar store) has since closed down, so my trips to this poor excuse for a mall withered even more. The Macys here has limited selection and the Gene Juarez doesn't offer waxing or other services they have at their other salons. If you like shopping in dimly lit, empty malls, then this is the place for you. If you're looking for stores that you see in other malls (like the Gap, for instance), you won't find it at South Hill. You will find an Old Country Buffet, Western Workwear, and a Parfumerie. I would also caution about safety here as many cars get broken into in the parking lot, and people have also been shot at here. read more

Please understand that anyone entering the mall has the right of way. Anyone leaving, there is a stop sign for you, not the people arriving. Please give people coming to the mall the courtesy of a safe arrival. Meridian is hell enough. I swear every time I visit the mall, I nearly get killed. Anyways, I'm just here to talk about the arcade and the pinball machines inside. Two machines here, both are .50 cents a pop. I think both have the 2fer5 deal. I remember a few years ago this place had tons of pinball machines. Obviously not as cool as the DDR machines or whatever else they have in here. Anyways, machines were nice and played well. Not sure if I'm a fan of the pirates machine, need to plunk a few more dollars in before I decide. I wasn't a fan of the simpsons pinball party at first either and it's one of my favorites now. I wanted to like this mall because it has a JCPenney's, Macy's, Target and Famous Dave's. It is really hard to argue with that combination. The problem, as many other people have mentioned, is the layout. Apparently drawn on a napkin at 2am by a drunken construction worker, there are dead ends everywhere and no clear cut way to reach one end of the mall without turning around and walking all the way back from whence you came. You will probably get tired and stop before you reach your destination (which might explain all the benches I saw). I have no idea why they didn't do a circle (Tukwila) or straight line (Commons). I guess they just wanted to be different. Spoiler alert: being different does not mean you're better. The stores themselves are interesting enough, if not a little small (why is JCP divided into two different sections?). It was clean, well-lit and spacious. If you care enough to go shopping I'd say go for Tukwila and Southcenter. Unless, of course, you just want somewhere to walk around away from the rain (or just want to visit GameStop, which for some strange reason this mall has like 3 of). Had a great day shopping at S Hill JCP. I love the coupons and rewards program. I can always find something here that I was looking for. I noticed that the men's store has darker lighting than the woman's store though. Still pretty typical for dept store mall clothes though but I prefer the styles here over the other stores in the mall. I shop with my kids and we can all get what we need here. On a side note: I'm not a big fan of the shoe selection for women and I've never had any luck with their bra selections. The brands of bras here seem to be lower quality and fall apart after a few wash and wears. The sales staff and customer service have always been extremely friendly and nice, they go out of their way to please the customer. But they hired a very mature saleswoman, named Kathy, who works in the women's dept at the back doors facing Macy's. She is the only unpleasant sales person I've ever met here, and she goes as far as being outwardly rude. She also takes at least two times what it takes all the other cashiers. This mall is not handicapped accessible. I'm 64 and in a wheelchair. I went there for the first time through Macy's and visited a shoe store. I wanted to check out Finish Line also, but there are 4 very steep ramps to get up to that level with no alternative ways to get there. A guy came over and pushed me up all the ramps, it would have been impossible without his help. If you have someone to push you or an electric chair it's ok, but accessibility means I can do it alone. Poor planning or lack of interest on the part of the Mall. read more

You can barely rationalize calling this place a mall. I suppose they carry stores that people in the surrounding area shop at therefore Nordys, Barneys, or even your regular Banana, Ann Taylor, etc., are missing. Parking is awful, and the stores they do have are mediocre at best. The best thing South Hill has going for it is the Target store which is pretty run down and disorganized. read more

For Puyallup area, it's a good mall. Has a decent selection of stores & a movie theater. The food court has a good variety as well. But if we're comparing to other malls in the area, it's definitely better than the Super Mall (or now known as the Outlet Collection) in Auburn. Far less superior than Southcenter Mall in Tukwila though. If you don't mind making the drive & dealing with the insane parking situation there, I would suggest making that trek. If not, South Hill isn't too bad, you'll most likely be able to find whatever it is you're looking for. read more

It's a pretty small mall, especially compared to the one in Tacoma, BUT Target is attached to it. I have never seen that before. It's clean, the stores that are there are awesome and there is a fire place inside the mall which is a first for me and I really loved it. One of my favorite food courts because of the fire place. Just a neat little mall I wouldn't go out of my way to go to but I wouldn't go out of my way to avoid it either. read more

South Hill Mall in all true terms is bigger at heart then it is in person. They have four access points into the mall parking lot. The parking goings all the way around the mall leaving Plenty of parking for everyone even during the christmas season! Once you go into the mall they have five major stores 1) Target 2) Dicks sporting goods 3) Jc penny 4) Macy 5) sears. The Jcpenny is split up kids and girls stuff, and then men and everything else in two different sections of the mall. Their is plenty of mice small stores within the mall where if you can't find what you looking for within one of those stores their certainly is other multiple other stores in the mall you could shop in to find just about anything cloth like that you need. They have a fair food court with plenty of cheap places to eat, but if you would like something a little bit more fancy to eat don't worry they have that in front of sears, then Panera bread in front of old country buffet.
