Yes, you either will love this place or hate it. Let's get past that right away. It's full of kids, kitschy, and a tourist trap but sometimes you just want to peek in and see how this world turns. At the end of the day, my kids had a blast and I didn't have to sink my wallet, wins all around. We usually try to get to the Dells once a summer and we usually stay at smaller resorts like Atlantis or Natura but I found a deluxe family room here for only $50 for the whole trip. Why not give it a shot at that price point then. First observation, this place is huge. The water park has a massive footprint, three indoor areas that encircle an outdoor area. Lots of pools and slides including a wave pool, small lazy river, and a few hot tubs (including a kid friendly one - you get a star just for that!). They really pack a lot of slides into the building so a lot is indoors which is nice when weather isn't great. My kids never got bored with the water park. A big plus - most of the pool water is heated! Great for a water wimp like me. I actually enjoyed swimming in it :). When we did need a water break, there was other entertainment to explore onsite including Magiquest and an arcade. We mostly played in the water park though, it was easy to spend a day there. Location for the lodge is right off the road. Food and drink options are available onsite. The prices are hot or miss. If you don't want to pay out, you can walk to fast food, restaurants, shops, etc. so you can just park the car and enjoy the area. Parking is additional, which is dumb, so they lose a star for nickel and diming. The room was spacious and laid out well, lots of room for everyone. We stayed on a Sunday - Tuesday so crowds were light and lines were minimal. One thing we did notice was that the resort is showing its age, could use a good clean and a few updates here and there. Staff were helpful, welcoming, and very nice. We enjoyed our stay and got a good amount of fun for our $$. Worth the visit!

Made some great memories at Great Wolf Lodge with the fam! Our recent visit was my first time back since I was a kid myself, so it was certainly giving all the nostalgic feels. Our group decided to rent a condo-suite, as we had four adults and five kids (all age 4 and under). It had a main bedroom with a king bed, secondary bedroom with a queen and bunk beds, and a loft space with a full size bed. The 'living space' was pretty small and awkwardly laid out, but still did the trick. Our balcony unfortunately faced the highway, making it genuinely too loud to sit out there or have the door open, so that was a bummer. The full kitchen had all appliances, which was nice because we cooked in both nights. They provide pots, pans, plates, and silverware. Also a small dish soap. Would have been great if the could also provide mini salt/pepper, mini cooking oil, and paper towel. Those other simple necessities would go along away for sure. So take this as a tip to bring your own! I think the main reason this resort isn't more highly rated is because it's getting pretty outdated. Including some needed paint jobs, carpet replacements, wall patches, and overall decor. Nothing was terrible enough to really bother us, but it for sure is becoming noticeable. Especially when you're paying a good amount of money to stay somewhere. Can't imagine the cost of giving this whole place a facelift, but I bet it would be worth it. The waterpark options are vast. Three (very) large indoor spaces, and a good size outdoor section. Waterslides for all ages, splash pads, lazy river, wave pool, hot tubs... the works! We worried a little that our kiddos could be a tad too young, but we were wrong - there was something for everyone. Plus they provide life vests as needed, and it's clear how great their lifeguards are trained (and they're all over the place)! Safe-fun was had all around. Other positives: The wristbands serve as room keys and you can sync your credit card to it, making it so you don't have to carry cards around. Parking is plentiful. Towels are provided. There are lots of food & drink options on-site. And they had extra kid programing going on around the resort, from kids yoga to bubble dance parties - we loved that. Overall a comfortable, family-friendly resort!

We visited Thursday-Sunday and had alot of fun. My son is 4 and he never wanted to leave the water park he was having so much fun. I loved all the different water park sections as it made it perfect for kids of all ages. They did only have one worker working two different water slides so the line was EXTREMELY slow for a particular water slide that my son kept wanting to go down which was disappointing. (Half hour wait) We enjoyed some of the free activities they had through out the day like kids yoga, music, pictures with the wolf character, etc. My main complaint would have to be the food. I'm not a picky eater and every meal I had there was bland, tasted slightly stale or tasted like they just reheated a prepackaged meal in the fridge. Also, the majority of the swimsuit dryers throughout the park were broken which was a bit of a pain. If you're going for just a day trip or one night I'd say still come as the park was really good for the kiddos.

Ask the Community - Great Wolf Lodge

Is the Wolf Wakeup Breakfast package worth purchasing during booking? Or is it more worth it to go off the resort for breakfast? Also, is this a buffet-style breakfast, ala-carte, etc?

When we were there last week, it was served family style and all you can eat. The first plate is a generous helping of eggs, breakfast potatoes, pancakes sausage and bacon. There is a fruit cup and cinnamon rolls. It is all you can eat. We often…

Anyone know how the dining vouchers work? Says $10 lunch and $20 dinner voucher per person, do they just put a credit on your account then as you make purchases of food it consumes credit? 11 people in our party, thanks!

You would get vouchers, children 3 and younger eat free.

Would an 8 year old have fun at this park? Are there a lot of bigger waterslides? We've only been to the great wolf lodges in Ohio. One was def more for younger kids versus 8 yrs and up.…

I think an 8 year old would love it! There is a section for younger kids but there are definitely plenty of larger slides and activities perfect for that age.

    Good for 2 year olds?

    Definitely! It's perfect for them.

Has anyone been to the Great Wolf in the Dells over Thanksgiving? Suggestions for other things to do in the area? We have the Black Bear Condo rented....is it worth it to upgrade to the Wolf Pack Condo? Do they ever offer condo upgrade promos? ❤️

Idk about thanksgiving time, but it was a very fun time there. We went downtown and seen some fun shops and a magic show. Also checked out the zoo which was pretty cool and the Tim Barton show. Think that's his name. If you say it's a special reason…

We also have relatives nearby that come stay to make it a large family affair. The boys really love this place. The numerous water parks are all great. The arcade area is good for half a day. The food venues are all good and the evening visits for frozen yogurt is a must. Rooms are getting a bit dated but well maintained and more than acceptable for our needs. Plenty of parking. There is so much to do and see in the area, this makes for a great home base location.

We couldn't decide out of the two experience which one to do so we did a double feature. We come into the building on the 4th of July and there is an information desk because the place is loaded with other things to do at the resort. We get to the Take Flight and wait in line until it's time for us to go in. It was a bit of a wait because a group before us had just gone in. We did the Space Flight first. WOW is all I can say! I don't want to give it away but I would recommend the experience. It's full of surprises. We really enjoyed Space Flight. Then we unfortunately had to stand in line again for Wonders of the American West. That wait was even longer. We enjoyed that experience too. We got our pictures taken by a photographer for both experiences and we took advantage of their picture offerings after we were done to remember the experience. The one thing that needs improvement is that you have to be weighed before getting access to the line (which is fine). You have to be less than 325 pounds. There is a red light/green bright circular light on a tall pole right above the scale for everyone to see. It's embarrassing if you step on and it turns red for no entry. That should be moved so only the attendant can see. No one should have anxiety about people seeing if you get a green light or red light. Next we were hungry so we stopped at the Camp Social Burger Bar. Many were hanging out at the bar and the food looked pretty good so we decided to get the Burger BBQ which is an angus beef patty with cheese, bacon and onion strings with bbq sauce. It came with homemade potato chips. Hubby got a pina colada mocktail and they decorated it so pretty with the 4th of July colors and decorations. I must say the burger, chips and the drink were divine. We sat in the seating they have and just chilled which was nice. They have so many other eating places and a candy shop. We really enjoyed our experience there and highly recommend. Thank you Wilderness at the Resort. A+ in our books!

Props for giving us a map after registration. No free breakfast, but in the registration lobby is a Starbucks/Roadster Coffee House combo that had the best breakfast sandwich. The room itself was large, which was nice, but the broken toilet seat was hard to overlook, that's something housekeeping should have caught and fixed before anyone checked in. They did offer to fix it or change our room promptly. The outdoor Waterpark felt very unregulated. The drop slide didn't have a bar to hold onto like every other slide of this type, and kids were allowed to stand right where riders came off the slides, which didn't feel safe. The outdoor bar in the sand wasn't open on a Thursday or Friday, which was disappointing. The arcade closes at 9, and after that there's basically nothing left for kids to do. The gym was AWFUL. It's three hotel rooms with a ripped out sink and dim lighting. The weight rack is an embarrassment. They had one set of 10lb dumbbells. The next lowest weight was 30lbs and it topped out at 50lbs. The zip-lining on the property is offered at $25 if you purchase it prior to check in. It costs $70 if you book afterwards. It felt like we were in another country - we had one guide for the 4 of us. She let my husband go on his own, my 11 year old followed. Then she zip-lined over leaving my daughter and myself to hopefully set ourselves up properly. There were times she was already ahead of me and not there to receive my daughter or myself when we zip lined across. Really increased my anxiety as a parent. Overall, it's a low‑budget version of a Great Wolf Lodge but they allow you to bring your pets with you.
