OEFCU is a FEDERAL Credit Union. This is a great deal different than a credit union without the…read moreword federal in its name. It's a world better than any bank out there! I have been very pleased with the service I've received with this Credit Union for 24 years and have done most of my financial business with this branch and some business with the multiple branches in California, Elko Nevada, and Logan Utah. I have always received better rates on my mortgages, auto loans, personal loans, credit cards, savings accounts, checking accounts, money market accounts, and CDs than I've received at other credit unions or banks. This Credit Union doesn't have all of the ridiculous nonsense fees, banks and other non-Federal credit unions have. Even through the great recession of 2007, 2008, 2009 this Credit Union stayed in incredibly solvent! It's managed very competently and conservatively. I read the annual financial status reports every year. Like many other working people in the building trades and retirees, I am pleased to use OEFCU as my primary financial institution of choice! Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and Greater Nevada Credit Union can all go in their hat!

When you call, they have to relay message to someone else to get a call back. No one knows what they are talking about, they said oh you made so many payments during 1st month, any other payments will go to principal because there isn't payment due for 5 months. I didn't believe them so I tested this with paying an additional $1.00... guess what, 100% going to interest?!?! Yea, I'm refinancing my loan now.

The service at the Sparks branch is better than any other financial institution I've been to as the employees are knowledgeable, helpful and seem more motivated to get your business. The website is the easiest to use and has the least amount of irrelevant feel-good pictures and graphics of any of them. It's also fast because it doesn't get stuck loading all this junk that doesn't mean anything. It's all business. And finally, their rates are the most competitive. Their 12 month notes are very close to what you can get going Treasury Direct and close enough I'm willing to give them the business. I wish they would offer a shorter term such as 26 or 13 weeks and a higher insurance level, but they're still way above everyone else.

Money Tree is the "Quickie Mart" of banks! Its not a bank, but they do many of the same things a…read morebank does! Cash checks, issue money orders, wire money, and do payday loans. What I love is when you buy money orders they give you free postage stamps! They also sell them too. Which is nice so I dont have to make a trip to the post office! You dont need a checking account to get a payday loan from here, just a job, and check stubs. Also no credit check. You can walk in broke and come out with cash in about 10 minutes! I can't remember exactly but I believe when you repay the loan, your paying back $20 on every $100 you borrowed. They also start you out with like a $200 limit on the loan, but after you borrow a few times and replay in a timely manner they will increase your borrowing power. If you have to extend the loan you can, but it will cost ya! Payday loans are NOT a wise thing to do, because it so expensive, but its nice to have this ace up your sleeve in case you do need some quick cash in a hurry. You never know when you will find a shoe sale and isnt it always when your broke - from the last shoe sale?? HAHAHA :) The staff at this location and the one on Clear Acre are all VERY nice, efficient, and know their jobs. They are really cool people. If you go in very much they will know your name by the 5th time you visit and for some strange human reason --- that just feels good.

The lady who helped me at this location was helpful and easy to work with but she could tell that I was a little put off that it was so expensive transfer money from one side of the state to the next. The location is clean and pretty easy to get in and out of parking at super easy so there is a lot to like about this money tree if you have to go in but hopefully I don't have to go back to this location because I could tell that their fees are serious!

The bank fees for business accounts are kind of ridiculous. But the Sparks location is my favorite location in the Reno area. Their customer service is Always friendly and they know my face. I recently had a problem with the Reno location and Sparks tried their best to resolve it. I go out of my way to visit the Sparks location for all my business needs!!

The AAA employee (insurance agent?} listened to my concerns but told me too bad, it is what it is. The "snapshot" discount for safe driving is anything but a snapshot. It is a personal tracker and agreement allow AAA to sell your personal location data & trends for more than 3/4 of the year. It kills your cell phone battery as it is always searching for the slightest movement. All of this and you MIGHT be offered a 10% discount when you renew. They even track and deduct points for when I am on my bicycle and stop to take photos or change the music. The "agent" told me "How are we supposed to know?", if you are moving you are scored. They of course don't insure my bicycle or trips on it, public transit, my Uber driver.... Remember when a 20-year driving record with no tickets or accidents was good enough to indicate that you were a safe driver and insurable, those days are gone. Personal data sales apparently informs them more than your credit score, insurance score, and DMV print out. Don't bother calling the "MySafeDrive" app either. Their answer to all questions is "You can always cancel and be charged more." How about I cancel and go back to a car insurance company that doesn't sell my personal information to the highest bidder? I wonder what AAA is doing to people that buy travel through them? Luggage trackers? Sell your travel photos and plans?
