The only tricky part about Wil-Ridge is their location, especially if you're coming from the east on Central. Other than that, no tricks here, just straight up reasonably priced service and parts. Coincidentally (or maybe not) the lug nuts were "swollen" and the I couldn't use my lug wrench to change a tire and put on the spare. John got me new lug nuts as well. If you can get past the ornery guy that either owns the place or runs the front desk, they may be good, I just don't know because each time I swear I'll never go back there but they are so close to my house the last 23 years. Every time I go in there, I'm shocked at what an ornery and condescending guy he is. Wil-Ridge! I'm a fan! If only I had a go-to auto repair place like you in the city! So anyway, I've been coming to Wil-Ridge for "replacements" pretty much since I've had my car: replacing headlight bulbs, tail light bulbs, windshield wiper blades, even tires. Every time I've pulled up to the garage door, they've opened right up, let me in, and someone has stopped what they're doing to help me and get me on my way as fast as possible. AND considering I am totally incompetent when it comes to car parts, these guys are really nice, take the time to explain things, and you don't feel in the slightest like you're paying too much or making an unnecessary repair. If they don't have a part for your car, they'll order it and it will usually be there the next day. As for the repairs they do, like John (might be the owner?) says, "We do everything." The guy who runs the front desk is EXTREMELY ornery and condescending. If you don't know what something is technically he talks to you as if you are stupid. Came in for a pre-purchase inspection on a vehicle and he said the timing belt was in need of a replacement. Got two other opinions which identified the timing belt as newly put in and in great shape. Waste of money. read more

If you're looking for good customer service, Wil-Ridge Auto Service is as good as it gets! I made a stop here a few weeks ago to have a tire patched. They were able to get me in right away. Quick, easy, affordable. Done. Then I started to hear something funny and didn't know if it was worth me calling the dealership to set up an appointment. You know how that goes. I called John and asked his opinion and he told me to bring it in and they would check it out and tell me if it was safe to drive and if it needed a repair. I was able to bring the car in the very next day, they took a quick look, determined it was safe to drive and what might be the cause and sent my on my way to make an appointment with the dealership (car still under warranty.) They have serviced so many cars for my family through the years, and I trust their honesty. Years ago, when I had a lemon of a mini-van, John told me he wouldn't let his wife drive it and to buy a new one. Even told me that the auto show was in town, so I should go to pick out a new car.
