We are regular customers. It is easy to get appointments and good for a quick oil change at a standard price. Like most smaller, privately owned garages, Wilmette Automobile Repair does not provide the high-level print-outs about everything your car might need now or in the future (like you would get at AAA Car Care or Heart), but they are honest, solid mechanics who are not trying to sell extra services. Looking at other posted reviews, I think some customers might misinterpret the owner's manner of speaking. We find him to be friendly and forthcoming. He has often been willing to road test our car at short notice to figure out what is wrong so he can get the parts and set an appropriate appointment. read more

Stay away from this shop.they will damage your car and lie about it.they have a old auto lift and the arms will come in contact with your wheel wells and damage your paint.the guy who owns it does not give you a receipt on purpose.he use a little handheld card device that does not print a work sheet with cost ,like everyone else.spilled brake fluid on my painted wheels too and broke lug nuts.complete con artist.this guy should be shut down.ASAP read more

I stopped by yesterday to have air in my tires. I asked if he could do it - he was checking out a customer - only one there. And when I asked him he said NO TOO BUSY and closed the door on me. He didn't know if I would pay him $1,000.00 or nothing and what kind of car I had, just wouldn't even give me the right time of day! Never going back to him. Sukhee and Danny are the most honest, kind, fast, and talented mechanics I have ever encountered. A year ago, I smashed my car up so badly into the carport, it seemed beyond repair. Somehow, Sukhee worked his magic, and what would have been thousands and thousands of dollars in repair was unbelievably inexpensive. They do NOT take you for a ride. I never have to worry that they are going to creatively "find things wrong" which do not exist. In fact, it's the opposite. Our super old Dodge Journey was stalling while we were driving it, we were thinking it was beyond repair, yet Sukhee said it was a matter of putting the right kind of oil in, and it was good as new! They help you keep your car forever. They are always busy, yet they always seem to work everyone in very efficiently. These guys are the BEST!!! read more

I had the following repairs done to my vehicle at Wilmette Automotive. Front rotors and brakes. Oil change. This shop is walking distance from my home. I called one other place for a quote and Wilmette was cheaper. My car is running great now. No more shaking when I press the brakes. Car was dropped off in the morning and ready for pick up within 2 hours. I would recommend. read more

These are my go to guys that help me out whenever I need it. I don't live far either so it is convienent for me to drop off my car and walk home. Most of the time, they do routine maintenance work on both my cars which we need since we take my minivan on alot of road trips. They always check my tire pressure and make sure it's in good shape before a long drive. They have also changed the timing belt, replaced brakes, and even came to my rescue once for a battery that died in my car. They do not overcharge me, or make a racket out of fixing my car. The only downside is sometimes I have a hard time understanding thick accents. That's my problem though. I do believe they are good guys and they do work very hard. read more

I've had my oil changed several times there. They are affordable, on time and friendly. They didn't try to sell me things I didn't need.

I brought my wife's 2012 Acura MDX in for a routine checkup prior to going on a long trip. Wilmette Auto checked everything out and showed us we needed a new timing belt, water pump and new front brakes. They gave us an estimate and I called around to check pricing and Wilmette Auto was $500 less than all other auto repair shops. They completed the work quickly with no pricing surprises. They did great work and I highly recommend them. It's great to find honest mechanics!!! read more

It was an excellent experience. They have very professional mechanics that are honest. Most auto repairs try to rip customers off, but this place was not the one. I have already went there twice for my brakes and oil leakage. I will definitely recommend this place. It does not hurt just to visit and check the prices, advices, etc. read more

I really hate the fact that my first review has to be a negative one. This is probably the worst shop I've worked with. First of all, this shop can't handle appointments to save their lives. Had to come back 3 times to have a flat tire fixed. Then when they couldn't find the leak, they put my tire back on without a word and charged me. When I questioned the charge, the owner snaps at me about how his guy had to work to get the tire off and put it back on. I said the problem wasn't fixed, and when I said I probably wouldn't be back, he literally said, "Don't come back. Don't care. " I get that he's got labor costs, but first of all, he's paying the guy to be there all day, so it's not like the mechanic is benefiting from the charge, and secondly, customer service and goodwill are apparently alien concepts to this guy. I did pay him, because the role of asshole was already taken. I would avoid this place at all costs. There are equally honest and cheap places nearby. I wouldn't even give them a star, but the app veiny let me finish without putting one up. read more

My experience is that they will always try to get twice regular price. I went there to have a nail removed from my tire, they refused to do it, because they'd rather sell you a new tire. I tried to get the AC Freon replenished, their price was $160. I went then to WILMETTE AUTO SERVICE (Wilmette avenue and Ridge), and they did the Freon job for half. Plus, Wilmette Automobile Repair people are definitely not customer oriented, neither friendly. Avoid them read more
