A really lovely, fast casual spot that features some great vegan options! You go in and order at the counter from the super kind staff i for here or to go. There are juice options, smoothies, coffees, as well as European sodas to try! My husband and I love Greek cuisine so when we saw that there was a Greek restaurant in walking distance from our Air bnb we had to come our first night. And Greek from Greece did not disappoint! We got their stuffed grape leaves (a family favorite, if you haven't been brave enough to try them, do it), chicken souvlaki, and the lemon chicken. So fresh, so delicious. We're definitely adding this to our KSQ list of places to go for a bite!

    Emis Greek Fusion

The food was bad. We wasted over $50. Period. And then? The business owner flipped out creepy style in public reply and private message! Holy sh!t!!!! I tried to keep it short and sweet and gave Emis twice as many stars as I felt they deserved. The owner responded by messaging me through Yelp demanding I take my review down, and posting a public reply alleging I was never actually there??? Despite a bunch of photos. Tried to claim there was no ticket (um I have an email receipt), and any other number of bs deflections to try to make this into a fight. Ridiculous. I had an honestly bad experience. I'm a hard working mother who doesn't get many breaks, and when I do, I don't appreciate gross food and wasting over $50 of my hard earned money! Owner, I am sure, would never stand for this either, considering how they demeaned and insulted me for speaking my truth about their tasteless food. Owner stated they went through all their receipts looking for my order, asking me to email them my ticket info, like I have to prove I was there, and generally demanding to dox me because I dared to say their food was bad! They could simply have replied to say they were sorry. Or, they could have allowed me my feelings about their food and moved on. Since being so rudely treated by the owner of this place, I wasted more time on them reading their reviews. Positive ones are suspiciously overzealous (5 stars for a bagel and a smoothie? Hardly review-worthy! Try risking $50!) and negatives all echo my misfortune with zero flavor and low quality ingredients. Oh and pardon me for assuming a gyro would have lamb. That would be close to authentic Greek food, which is what I mistakenly assumed they made, based on the false review hype.

    Today's specials!

Beautiful friendly little café, authentic Greek pastries and sweets, with vegan options, fresh-ground American espresso and coffee-beverages, and genuine thick Greek coffee :-) We love beautiful little Emis Café on State Street in the middle of the historic area of downtown Kennett Square. They have made a narrow storefront into a bright oasis that can seat about 40, including a couple of sidewalk tables. Order at the loaded pastry counter as you try to resist sweet honey-walnut shredded baklava, dense chocolate tahini halvah, and flakey savory spinach spanakopita pastries. There are many more sweets and savories, and many have vegan options. They serve all of the espresso and coffee beverages that you know, freshly ground in the burr-grinder next to the coffee maker. Instead of American coffees, we chose traditional ellenikó greek coffee which has those lovely grainy unfiltered fine grinds at the bottom of the cup! You wont find that anywhere else. We also had halvah and vegan spanakopita, both authentic and delicious. And we bought some scrumptious Greek orange honey for home. All the staff was caring and efficient. The restrooms are clean and bright. We will come back again to this delightful real Greek café from Thessaloniki and Rhodes in the middle of Kennett Square.

Service was really good as everyone was so friendly but the egg for my sandwich came out flat and over cooked, I saw a picture of a fluffy egg sandwich online from here so I was a little disappointed

Set up as a fast casual eatery, you place your order at the counter and they bring it to your table. I love that so many businesses are using this model as it gives us a chance to try one or two things without overeating. My daughter chose the bagel with cream cheese and we all shared a banana strawberry smoothie. I threw and iced latte order since I can never say no to coffee. The smoothie was one of the better ones we have had all year. I am certain the full fat Greek yogurt gives it that rich full bodied taste. I would easily order any smoothie from there again. The bagel was also quite good considering I am used to New York style bagels, it hit the mark. I was not expecting that in a Greek spot. The latte was also slurpalicious. Overall super cute spot. The price was a bit high but I can see we got the quality we paid for! PS super clean groovy bathrooms to boot.

Yogurt parfait, Hummus platter, Tomato soup, and Bagle-cream cheese.

Best Greek cafe! We are vegetarian and they were more than accommodating to make sure that we get the best experience. We ordered the Hummus platter, Tomato soup (yummy), bagel - cream cheese and a yogurt parfait. Many more options to try. We will be back P.S. Tomato soup with pita bread was DELICIOUS!!!

    TONS of options.

I am a tough sell but I have to be perfectly honest here... I considered moving to be closer to this place (as in changing states and employers). I was absolutely gobsmacked. We found this place as a breakfast option when traveling thanks to other Yelp reviewers (THANK YOU YELP! YOU ROCK). The downtown was adorable and our first thought at seeing the store front was "hipster small town"... it should have been ROCK STAR small town! Soothing decor (light wood, dark and light dishes, good lighting, pics of coffee) supported the hipster vibe but when we made our way back to the counter we discovered baked goods to die for, an extensive menu, shoppable souvenirs and takeaway options to fill your cooler. Honestly, the worst thing about this place is that there is too much to choose from. After serious study of the menu we opted for the Milos and Local (featuring local mushrooms!) breakfast pitas , Greek coffee (ask them) and a dirty chai plus Greek yogurt (IMPORTED FROM GREECE!) with berries, walnuts and honey. The staff was very comfortable with recommendations and every option was spot on. No surprise, it seems like everyone has worked there since the day they opened. Food was brought quickly to our tables by staff who were eager to tell more about the owners' passion for the food and what made it special. I would go back just to hang out but I would move there for the yogurt. It is crazy good!! Count me in the fan club. And yes, we bought coffee beans and dessert to go!

    Vegan Gyro

Been exploring the cafes and restaurants from the area, today I came across this one. It caught my attention because of its vegan options. I ended up getting the vegan Gyro, best gyro I have tried; crunchy, filling... I ended up literally liking my fingers. Their chai latte however, was way too sweet for my taste. I asked them if it was too sweet as a way to figure out whether to customize it for a less sweet version. I was told it was not too sweet... I felt as if I was drinking syrup with milk ! I think that's on me however, I should have ask how many pumps they do. The drink needed up in the trash but the food made up for it. Location is super nice, staff is nice and attentive, bathrooms are clean and the inside of the restaurant is really pretty too!

Delicious place to stop for breakfast or lunch. Found this gem by chance today walking around. Food was amazing and SO fresh! They have grab and go options too if your in a rush. I honestly can't wait to go back and try some of the desserts! The breads and dressing are homemade! Staff was beyond helpful, friendly and so pleasant!

The vibe is light and airy, and the service is always friendly. I especially appreciate their rotating drink specials and options for non-coffee drinks, like a matcha. Also shoutout to the scones from OsoSweet bakery across Baltimore Pike--they go so well with a coffee and are huge and tasty. Chadds Ford Coffee House is what a chain like Starbucks aspires to be: local, cozy, and artisanal. Good music playing loud enough that you can hear it, but not so loud that you can't have a good conversation. There is wifi and a good amount of seating, including stools for solo diners who might want to open a laptop and send a few emails while eating the aforementioned giant scone. It's also easy to get takeout service, but I'd say it's worth spending a few minutes here to really savor your food and drink.

Ended up at Chadds Ford Coffee House on a day where a trip to a normal stop of mine was denied…read morebecause of the location I frequent being closed. Which wasn't necessarily a bad thing. I love to switch it up and try new places, and this was no exception, and I did get to enjoy not only a good macchiato, but also a lovely, light and fluffy croissant. However, based on the vibe when I walked inside, I had expected a step above from what I actually experienced. This is NOT to say that anything is wrong with this place; it is cute, the staff is extremely nice, and their coffee is good, just good. But there is nothing here that takes it up a notch to make them anything memorable or more than just another coffee stop on the road of many potential head turning exquisite coffee paradises. I was very excited when I asked about the macchiato, as they said they make them the traditional "correct" way, which is what I prefer. A very small, very potent and delicious amount of espresso, and I usually enjoy mine con panna which they were happy to oblige. While the espresso was pulled well and the drink was delicious, it did taste as if their roaster went just a bit too far, or they extracted just a bit too much. Not a big deal. However, at a place making this correctly, I would expect a damn good macchiato. The croissant was also tasty; buttery and flaky, and I am not sure if it was baked on site, but I feel like if it wasn't, they should consider doing just that, because that is what could elevate this to that next level and really make it a destination! All in all I was pleased with what I got and the price was reasonable for what we ordered. If I am in the area I will likely be returning to my favorite spot nearby that I frequent with reverence, and that is no fault of Chadds Ford Coffee House. But when coffee is needed and I'm around, if I can't go to where I normally would, this would be at the top of my list! Give them a shot if you travel route 1 through the area often and you may find you're new spot!

It was just me, so I only got half a dozen donuts with a knife so I could taste them all! I tried: Cookies & Cream, Salted Caramel, Maple Bacon, Toasted Coconut, Chai, and Fluffernuter. Let me start by saying the cake part of these donuts is just perfect. Not too dense, lightly crisp on the outside, and insanely fresh. The toppings might sound over the top, but they weren't. They were perfectly subtle to add a hint of flavor without a dose of diabetes. And the coffee- such unique lattes both in name and flavors. I went with Davy Joey's Locker with an extra shot of espresso. So good. Not overly sweet and not bitter at all. And then I just had to try the cute little pistachio cannoli. Shell was filled upon ordering, so the shell was nice and crispy. Now this was super sweet, but I haven't met a cannoli yet that wasn't! Barista was friendly & bubbly and patient when it took me some time to pick my 6 donuts. Basic tables and chairs with some bench seating along the window. Pillows & chairs could use a refresh, as well as the bathroom, looking a bit worn & dingy, but that's literally the only negative thing about this place.
