I normally do not leave reviews. The meal that I just experienced at the Lombard location of Gia Mia was exceptional and I wouldn't feel right if I hadn't left an excellent review. I ordered the filet medallions. If you normally order medium, order medium rare. Cut like butter and I have to say even at Capital Grille I would be asking for salt on the table. This meal did not need it. The seasonings were phenomenal and complimented both the meat and the vegetables along with the crispy potatoes.This was served beautifully arranged on the plate with broccolini and heirloom carrots, both of which were cooked to perfection along with crispy potato. I chose not to add the balsamic. My opinion, it would ruin the flavor.I have never had a better meal there, even though all of whatever I've had prior has been wonderful as well. This was to die for. I'm a big-time foodie practicing gourmet chef myself so I can tell you, trust me. I paired this with a glass of Pinot Noir. I would say let your personal taste decide on which one to order. We then ended the meal by sharing a panna cotta between 3 of us. Wish I hadn't shared LOL. It was topped with macerated blueberries and crumbled shortbread cookie topped with fresh whipped cream. Finally came in to try Gia Mia as I received a coupon at an event earlier in the day. The lunch special is kind of like a pick 2 for 16.99. Portions are kinda small, but it's lunch. Food was alright. Nothing rave worthy. Vodka pasta was pretty good but pasta seemed a little under cooked. Waitress was un attentive. We had empty drinks, sat around waiting for the food, check, etc while she chatted it up with every other table. The manager was helpful and nice. read more

I have visited the Gia Mia in Downers Grove quite a few times so I was excited to check out the location in Lombard. The space is large and bright with warm accents and a lush welcoming bar. We decided on a whim to check out their happy hour during the week. We were delighted to find out that all their small plates/appetizers are half off. They also offered drink deals including wine specials and a couple of featured cocktails. We opted for espresso martinis which were robust but balanced - quite close to perfection. We decided on three small plates and everything was extraordinarily delicious. We savored each bite to fully appreciate the flavor combinations and fresh ingredients. The prosciutto and fig bruschetta, blackened shrimp and tortellici were so good that a little dance accompanied our first bites. Every dish was delivered with precision and attention to detail. Our bartender was great, too. He was very attentive and made great drinks. Manager was consistently walking around the establishment and appeared to be very hands on. **Updated Review To start, I appreciate the concern that Gia Mia's staff showed after my first review. I see that they value the experience that each of their customers have. I went back and ordered takeout again. The staff were very nice when I picked up my order. The menu itself doesn't exactly fit my usual appetite so we just opted for pizza again but this time a red sauce pizza instead of a white. The pizza was much more fresh this time around. The taste itself was okay. The best tasting thing was the caramelized onions and I added those on it myself. What is great is that their ingredients seem very fresh. read more

I've been to several Gia Mia locations and this 1 is definitely a favorite of mine (also a fan of the downers grove location too). It's very spacious with floor to ceiling windows. Parking is plentiful as it's in the same area of Yorktown mall. Service throughout was great. My husband and I dined in on a Saturday night and Luis C was our server. He was the perfect amount of attentive and also let us know this spot offers happy hour deals from Tuesday - Friday in the bar area. Our food was timed out well, we were in and out within an hour and a half. We shared the rigatoni bolognese and the wild mushroom pizza. The noodles from the pasta were fresh and cooked al dente and took to the sauce very well. Flavors were spot on with a little bit of heat. The pizza was also delicious, everything was well balanced on it. The rose Mary kind of threw me off but still very tasty with it on there. We then shared the butterscotch bread pudding for dessert. OH MAH GAWD! Maybe it's bc I'm pregnant, idk, but this really hit the spot. The bread pudding was moist, warm and oh so goooooood. The vanilla gelato on top brought everything perfectly together. Got seated right away even though there was a good crowd. This new location is beautifully done inside -- the décor, wall accents, and seating (plus the outdoor area) all give it a nice, welcoming vibe. For appetizers, we tried the wild mushroom toast, which was super good -- the mix of cheeses and sautéed mushrooms worked perfectly together. For entrées, we ordered the Bruno and the Pasta Gia. Both were very flavorful, though I do wish the pasta had a bit more sauce. Still, it was really good overall. Service was great -- our server was attentive and made sure everything came out just right. For drinks, we got the Sicilian Sunshine and the mocktail. I was meeting a friend and asked the host if I could sit at the bar. Host and staff at the stand were very friendly. Bartender was super friendly and she explained the happy hour menu. Also, their happy hour menu is definitely why I would come back. 50% off their small plates and discounted drinks. I believe happy hour is Tuesday through Friday 330 to 530 pm. I split 3 small plates with a friend and they were all delicious! I enjoyed the meatballs, mozzarella, and shrimp. They were presented nicely and tasted great. Another thing that I appreciate as a customer is the team work I witnessed among staff. The food runners were cleaning and helping out. Gia Mia is a wonderful Italian spot in Yorktown mall (newly opened!) where everything is top notch, from the food to the service to the prices, and to where you'll be returning time and time again. We stopped by for an early dinner on weeknight and were able to secure a table without any issue. After surveying the menu we started with a round of drinks and a few apps. The Prosciutto + Fig Bruschetta is very tasty (although I think I prefer a more "standard/traditional" bruschetta) and the Zucchini Fries are always outstanding! The sauce... wow! For our meals we had Paccheri Vodka (with extra spice - it was hot and delicious!) and the Shrimp fra Diavolo... the shrimp was amazing. Every bite was bursting with flavor and there was so much shrimp! Incredible. No dessert on this trip as we were stuffed to the brim. I've tried several of the pizzas from Gia Mia and am consistently impressed with how delicious their wood fired pizzas are. Definitely recommend considering coming on a Monday when they have half off all pizzas. They usually accommodate walk ins. They always have friendly service and an extensive menu. read more

Our experience was very bad. We walked in with a reservation and didnt get seated for 45mins. We went to the bar to wait and nobody greeted us. 3 workers chatting at the corner of the bar. Finished tabs on the bar left over food all just sitting there for ten minutes. Finally sat at the table waiter didnt come for another 8 minutes. Drank several gulps of water to find food debris in my glass floating, food debris also on my silverware that was in wrapped napkin. Waiter disappeared again. No drinks to the table. When he finally brought drinks he insisted we reach across table to grab the drink from his hand. Food came out sporadically. One dish for our group of 6 was completely forgotten and did not arrive until most of everyone else's meals were nearly eaten. We were not offered a dessert menu for our group either. I was surprised they opened another Gia Mia in Lombard - just down the street from the DG one - but the Lombard one seems a bit bigger and has a lot more outside seating. Tables are spaced better at this location, too. Same food / drinks and as always - it's good. I tried a new pizza this time - Clam + Bacon - which I was not a fan of - but that's just me. A little too fishy for me - but it's just a matter of preference. Crust-wise - still very good. Beautiful new location for Gia Mia! Extremely clean and super friendly staff. The food came out quickly and was delicious! We enjoyed the ricotta and honeycomb for an appetizer which was perfectly portioned. My niece told me about GIA MIA and she loved the one in Naperville. I knew that a new one was opening in Lombard....Sunday afternoon I treated my family to a nice lunch. It was absolutely delightful!! We ordered everything from baked oysters, wonderful salads with arugula, beets, cauliflower, pistachios, goat cheese...absolutely amazing!! Then we ordered a variety of the featured pizzas....not the over gooey American style....they are the brick oven beauties like you get in Naples, Italy! We enjoyed cuppacino and tiramisu. So you might ask, "Why only 4 stars instead of 5?" The new restaurant ran out of tiramisu and my husband didn't get his. We waited and waited and no one informed us that there was no more until we asked. I believe these are growing pains and soon Lombard's GIA MIA will be perfect....I definitely will make this one of my favorite go to places. read more

I already loved Gia Mia, but they donated pasta weekly for the local HS football team and have been incredibly generous sending more than they committed to, including meat, and extras. Was only here once..The pizzas seem to be ok according to the person I was with who are one..A good fake margherita...The crust a dough seem to be pre- fab..So you can buy a premade crust at the grocery store and heat it up yourself..And it will taste like this..It ok..But not from scratch... I ordered pasta. The rigatoni bolonese.I said I do not want cheese on my pasta...I ordered a salad. I said I do not want cheese on my salad ..I repeated to the server 3 times..No cheese on my food order .I am lactose intolerant...I ordered rigatoni Bolognese pasta..It clearly states on the menu that the sauce was a "classic Italian meat ragu tomato sauce". That's is from the menu listing.. It was anything but a tomatoes sauce..It was and is a cheese sauce .All cheese and cream..The should have had it listed as, Italian macaroni and cheese..I gave it to my date..I ate nothing .False advertising..Now the server cannot see there is cheese on it. The cook, the manager and moron that made the menu cannot see it's a cheese sauce .Well I left a picture..What is your opinion?? Gia Mia (Lombard) is great! A colleague and I met for quick lunch and work details. Food was very good as expected. Our server, Tyler, was excellent - very courteous and patient as it took me a bit to decide on food. He was attentive, but not pushy and quick to bring us anything we needed. We dined inside at peak lunch time and there was a good crowd but not overwhelming for the staff and not noisy. I'll keep this in mind for future lunch meetings! First Visit to Gia Mia in Lombard - A New Favorite! This was my first time dining at Gia Mia. I'll admit, I was disappointed to see Ra Sushi was no longer here--but after eating at Gia Mia, I can honestly say it's become one of my new favorite spots. I went on a Sunday afternoon and was greeted right away--first by a busser outside, then warmly by the hostess as I walked in. The space has been completely refreshed with stylish décor, a full bar, and expanded outdoor seating. The restaurant was bustling, which immediately gave it great energy. Because of the heat, we chose to sit indoors at a table. The manager, Ms. LeCree (sp), stopped by to welcome us, which was such a nice touch. Our server was equally friendly, quickly taking our drink orders before we decided on the lunch special: a personal wood-fired pizza paired with a salad. Each of us ordered something different so we could share--every bite was fantastic. My friend, who usually avoids traditional pizza, absolutely loved the pear and caramelized onion pizza and said she'd return just for that! Ms. LeCree stopped by again to check on us--attentive, genuine, and clearly a team player, since I also saw her delivering food to tables. That kind of leadership makes a difference. As we were leaving, I spotted a meatball over polenta appetizer at another table that looked incredible--already planning on ordering it next time. And lastly, a shout-out to Walter the bartender--great energy behind the bar! Overall, Gia Mia exceeded my expectations. On Monday, they have half-price pizza and I have tried the location in Wheaton before and I was not impressed with their pizzas by any means but I thought I'd give this location a try and maybe it would be better because it's a different location now everybody knows that things can vary based on who's cooking, etc. So we got two different types of pizza and they were pretty much the same as the other location even at half off I really don't think they're really worth it. They really are very lackluster and flavor and I definitely wouldn't pay full price for it. This might be some people's vibe, but not mine. Also, when you go to pick it up, it is sitting in a box across from the host stand so it's not even being kept warm. It's just sitting in like a little cubby area. That was a huge turn off. I mean, even when you go to freaking Pizza Hut they have it in a warmer ! And on a normal day these Pizzas run about $16-$17 and they're not very big so I'll pass on returning read more

First off, I am a longtime fan of the Gia Mia in Downers Grove, so I was thrilled to see that the owners opened a new location in Lombard (which was previously Ra Sushi, I believe). The new location is gorgeous; 20-foot ceilings; light; open; with a well-stocked bar int he back. There's a huge patio outside as well for al fresco dining The menu is the same---wood-fired pizzas, lots of pasta and salad options, and my favorite--the Scottish Salmon. We had drinks at the bar and the cocktails were delicious; our wait staff and bartender were all friendly and provided great service. Check it out for lunch, dinner, or drinks! Reserved for 7 on the 23rd because I have always had great service and food at Naperville location. The service at Lombard was not good. Slow, food came late and it was not hot. In our party only 5 got served and two had to wait. The food was not up to their usual quality. The server only came to the table three times and then was a no show until the bill. The manager did step in....not impressed with the overall experience. I will not return to this location. read more
