"Eh" pretty much sums up the experience here unfortunately. We were pretty excited to potentially find a new go-to Greek spot but this is far from if. The prices were fair(ish) but everything else not so much. -Gyro Sandwich: 3/5, I will admit the meat was actually pretty delicious and there was a ton of it..but after that this was pretty forgettable. Shredded lettuce and onion thrown on top and called a sandwich. The fries it came with kind of sucked, and the yogurt sauce was nothing special. -Chicken over rice platter: 2/5, we actually laughed when we opened this. A single skewer broken in half over a bed of bland brown rice for $10. Not very enjoyable...at all. The sandwich combo also came with a drink so when I selected coke I assumed I'd be getting a can like most other Greek spots do...BUT you know what they say when you assume!! Instead I received a small paper cup Saran wrapped up with half the drink soaked into it..to top it off it was flat. Like drinking water with coke flavor. Needless to say we don't plan on coming back here when the craving for Greek returns. read more

Been going here for years, the food is actually good but since the previous owner passed it seems this place is not what it once was. The prices are high and I don't mind paying for good food, but when you start skimping on portions I have a real problem with that. I noticed last time that the Hummus seemed to be not as much as usual but didn't think about it until I ordered again tonight. What was given to me was less than half of what they used to give me. I called and talked with the manager and asked when they changed their policy to give less than half the amount of Hummus with an order. Pretty decent overall! $10 minimum for credit card payment. They prepare salads to order (I'm a little picky and always ask for certain things to be omitted). They do this no problem. So far I've tried the falafel over salad and the gyro meat over the salad. You got ALOT of food and I definitely made at least 2 meals out of their plates on both occasions. The pita is delicious. The salad dressing was better the second time I had it (not sure if it was just more that was used) but it is good and tastes pretty healthy. They throw in a stuffed grape leaf that is really good as well. The woman who had taken my order both times has been pleasant despite seeming very busy. My only real complaint is that I have had better falafel and better gyro meat. I think this place is good and I'll be back but just isn't the best I've had. read more

Called for a delivery order. I was told one hour delivery time. Food arrived in hour and 45 mins. $20 chicken over salad - tiny skewer of chicken. I think I am done with this place. Ordered delivery here twice, and it's pretty cool that their system remembers your address so you dont have to repeat yourself. They accept wolfie wallet for stony students and have free delivery! I ordered the baklava, calamari, and gyro meat over rice. The bakalava is a little too sweet in my opinion, but is nice in smaller bites with some coffee. The calamari is not worth since it is both tiny and contains a small amount in consideration to its price, and the gyro meat over rice does not contain any veggies except for a few tiny diced onions and peppers here and there. I NEED VEGGIES, especially since delicious vegetables are hard to come by for a university student. The meat was also rather dry, but the sauce that came with it salvaged the dish. From my past 2 times ordering here, they always arrive quicker than the time they say they will so you can look forward to that. Otherwise, there's nothing exceptional here. Saying Greek To Go makes my mouth water. A gyro with a stack of fries & a soda is $10 with some change. SO amazing because the serving size is so gy-normous* I never finish. Sweet lunch value on the fly. Service is really fast. They make fresh fries as you order them and you should either: burn your tongue or drown them in the nice sized yogurt cup they serve. Deliciousss. I haven't ventured to anything else on the menu yet because I honestly can't get away from this gyro. The meat is nicely flavored, the onions are cut stringy and lovely, lettuce packed with three nice thin slices of tomato. Can't get mad at the mess I make trying to fork the white sauce on to this sandwich. View photos of said beast. Love this place!!! I usually get the fried eggplant on a pita loaded with lettuce, onions, tomatoes & the most delicious homemade tzatziki sauce.. it's the best!!! My daughter loves the gyro salad & chicken lemon soup. We order from here at least twice a week. Everything is cooked in front of you, even the fries are great. I had heard great things about this place but i was disappointed. I have had great gyros before both chicken and lamb. The lamb gyro my husband had was good and that is why I am giving this 3 stars. My chicken gyro was lacking flavor and was mainly lettuce tomato and onions (even though i asked for no onions). The French fry portion was awesome. The yogurt sauce was not my favorite either. All in all this place is definitely a place to go to on the run rather than an outstanding gyro experience. If you are in the mood for a great gyro, this isn't the place I would choose. read more

I can say for sure that take out portions are much smaller than dine in. Like another yelper mentioned, the bread was bland. The gold peak tea was weird as hell. They probably tried to dilute it to get more out of it, then tried to save it, but ended up putting the wrong ingredients in. No wonder this place isn't crowded. Here's the Scoop: Greek to Go is a small restaurant located in the strip mall with Jamba Juice. This restaurant has nice wooden tables and a comfortable counter seating area. Not good for large groups because it can only seat about 20 people. The person taking your order is quick and efficient but a little curt. When my honey asked for red sauce along with the white sauce she quickly said one or the other. He replied well I like both and I'll pay for it she said that will be $1.09. So with that being said we were both appalled. Usually they'll give you both. We sat down and waited for our order which took about 5-10 minutes to make. Very clean in the sitting area. There is a bathroom in the back. I recommend this place if you're in this area. The Gyro will cost you about $8 but it big. Have an appetite, or share but after a bite you might not want to, or save a little for later. Check them out when you get a urge for a great gyro. read more

I have tried the Gyro and Dolmas and both were great! Gyro meat is cut nice and thin just how I like it. Food is quick. Staff is friendly with the exception of an older guy that yelled at me once for using the bathroom without asking even though I was a paying customer. The place is a little expensive but its to be expected a specialty food spot. But I continue to go back when I want a filling, very tasty lunch. read more

This is my go-to Greek place. The have the best quality Greek food. Their portion sizes are very generous. Their service is usually really good. They also deliver. The atmosphere is very nice, however most of the tables can only fit 2 people. I would have given Greek to Go 5 stars, but I had to take a star away because they (or at least one of the owners/bosses) don't treat their employees very well. It was a spur of a moment decision to order from here. I ordered the veal souvlaki sandwich. I was hesitant about veal for personal reasons but I got it anyway. First bite. No regrets. I very much liked the idea that they used veal because it was more tender than beef. It was quite pleasant because I was not chewing till my jaw cramped up. Bonus. However, I don't feel that it was seasonal enough. Bummer. I tried some gyro and the meat was over seasoned (too salty for my taste). Incidentally, no lamb taste in the gyro. Bonus. If you want a gyro in the stony brook area you cant do better than this. The place is a hole in the wall and not super appealing on the inside. The portion is slightly smaller than I'd like it to be for the price. But you cannot beat the flavor. The gyro meat is addicting and the tzaktizi sauce is heaven. We've only gotten take-out here, so all I can say about the service is that our order was ready when promised. We found the food quality a mixed bag. On the positive side, the portions were huge. The moussaka was quite tasty. The greek salad was good, but it was missing the standard hot peppers. On the negative side, the pastichio was very bland and tasteless and the chicken lemon soup was weirdly cinnamon flavored with the consistancy of library paste. I ordered a Greek salad and I got French fries. Come here a lot with my friends. I'm not aware of any other greek places nearby so this will have to do. The gyro meat is the usual crappy gyro meat (it's not doner, actual meat pieces. If you get greek food at other places and they have this, sometimes called a Greek gyro, GET IT. a million times better). There's no way to get a gyro with fries and a salad without blowing a lot of money. Their tzatziki (the white sauce) is REALLY good, though. This is hands down my favorite place to get a gyro. I now live in Nassau but when I'm out east this is my go to. I don't understand why so many negative reviews. I started coming here as a Stony Brook student 9 years ago. I've used them to cater birthday party's and everything. The food is always FRESH. That is very important! I think a lot of reviewers are mistaking the owners attitude, that lady works hard and she's always sweet to my family. Decent greek food for pretty good prices, what more can you ask for? Also, their sauce is so. good. They definitely have an upper hand because its the only greek place in the near area (I think) I've eaten here twice, once at the restaurant & once got delivery.
