Green chili kitchen is another restaurant here in Oklahoma that is truly unique and easily one of the best. There are only a couple other locations in the country. Guess where?? San Francisco!! Not sure why they are here, but I'm glad they are. Best place to get New Mexico style food in the city and it is amazing. Seriously delicious food. I am mad I'm not there right now eating as I write this. Green chili, posole, blue corn tortillas, etc. all good. Plus, they really specialize in pies! Been going here for many years. Somehow, I think people who leave less than stellar reviews are comparing this restaurant to true Mexican food. Why is this place so delicious??? The entire staff was super nice too. I ordered the Chile Relleno and added a grilled chicken breast. I envisioned how I wanted it to look in my head but expected to get the chicken on the side. Y'all!!!! They added the chicken into the meal so it was perfectly mixed and married with the flavors. It was delicious and a lot of food. I ordered rice and beans to go because I only ate half of it. I had it for dinner that night. Then had the remainder for breakfast the next morning. I visited this restaurant a couple of weeks ago, but I have been there several times. Each time, I am in heaven. You can't go there without getting at least 2 things: Green Chile Queso (I prefer the spicy) and pie!!! The queso is abundant and can feed a table of 4 nicely. You will have to take leftovers home if it's just 2 of you. I always get the Grilled Pork Burrito w/black beans and the spicy green Chile sauce. I always take half home. This last visit, we couldn't decide on the pie flavor, so we got the Blueberry lemon buttermilk pie and the Green Chile apple. It was worth the trip to Yukon!! Delicious! read more

It was a huge portion and I barely finished it all! As usual, I binged on the chips and salsa/hot queso... My wife ordered the steak-stuffed poblano peppers. Just one of the two peppers was enough for her, so she took the other one for leftovers! The restaurant was clean and well kept. The service was excellent the entire time. BUT for the restaurant being named after chilies & it being New Mexican, the taste was bland (even after asking for spicy)! The pork tamales a friend tried was dry & the masa was super thick. The 1/2 chicken roasted was dry, they used a dry rub and again no flavor came through. I don't know what the hype was about. I really hate writing this review, because I do enjoy their food, and I'm also a big fan of small businesses! I grew up in a family of restauranteurs, and I would much rather frequent a mom and pop place than a big chain, any day. So I will start with positives: I have been to Green Chile Kitchen 5 or 6 times, and everything that I or any of my friends and family have tried from their menu has been tasty and made with obviously fresh and good ingredients. Drinks are good, margaritas are big. Sadly, there are negatives that will make me think twice next time I want a tasty meal close to home. The acoustics are awful, so you cannot hear the person sitting right across from you without yelling. Like, really bad. This is annoying, but wouldn't stop me from going there necessarily. The DEAL BREAKER is that shortly after 8pm on a Friday night, as we were about halfway through our meal, employees started putting chairs up on the tables. It got weird. People in the booth behind us left, saying they would've had another drink but felt like they were being rushed out. Then we started talking to the people across from us, who also felt very weird and like they were being rushed out. We asked to speak to a manager - we thought they closed at 9, and that maybe the kids who started putting the chairs up were doing so without management's knowledge. The manager came and just said, "we close at 8." OK, it was 8:30... but you still have several tables full of people still eating, drinking, and spending money at your establishment. This is just not good business practice. You are literally telling people to get the hell out and spend their money elsewhere, which we will absolutely do in the future. Sad, Green Chile Kitchen. I really love the green chile queso here if you order the hot. If you order the mild, you really cant taste the chile at all. Overall, I think it's a little overpriced and I prefer my food a little spicier. It's probably great if you have a hankerin' so something milder!
