Family owned business that is sometimes great and other times just average. This time we ordered the General Tso's All White Meat Chicken, the Chicken with Orange Peel, egg drop soup and spring rolls. Everything was good and seemed fresh. The egg drop soup was very good with a lot more egg than most Chinese restaurants usually put in it. They do charge extra for all white meat, but it's worth it to me. And they're usually pretty accommodating about switching things around fried rice versus white rice, eggrolls versus crab rangoon, etc.. This time they were confused by my order so they called me back to reverify it before making it incorrectly which I really appreciated. Better to be safe than sorry! Based on today's visit we'll keep coming back. One of our favorite dishes from there is the chicken with snow peas, but opted for something different today. read more

The worst food place I can remember visiting. I got a combination seafood plate. It was watery, and salt was all I could taste. I could not chew what they called lobster (mouthful of gristle). Everything was obviously thawed and soggy except for the green pepper's. The table was sticky, the chair was sticky. The floor was sticky. Crab Rangoon was ok- kinda sweet. Best thing we had Husbands beef fried rice was ok- kinda dark. "Nothing special", he said. I ordered some kind of chicken/veg dish (Non spicy, not sweet/sour, no broccoli (maybe sesame or garlic sauce)) ?? It was boiled or something that had no color or any flavor or spice appearance. The sauce was yellow goo. The menus doesn't help me find it again- many items do not have a description. The worst part was the smell. The onions and mushrooms seemed to be the culprit. I tried to pick through the bland chicken to have something to eat at least but that smell was too much and I just pitched the whole thing. It did not seem to be a healthy, natural smell. I've tried this specific location 3 times and each time has been great! Fast service and polite staff-! A lot of food for the money too-- my son's favorite is the Chicken Fried Rice- which is hardy and loaded with veggies and flavor. Now I love the chicken teriyaki (appetizer). Green China's location is one of its best advantages. It's right off the freeway, accessible from the hospital, and next to one of the worst excuses for Mexican food. While it's not the best, it still works out pretty good for this kind of fare. If you go, and have experience with only the more bland and tame, franchise Chinese fare, you won't be happy. It works out as this niche of Chinese food is what many people clamor for. The food is good, but don't expect amazing. It fills a need well, and while their choices of the flavors are ok, there are also oddities. The sweet and sour chicken is indistinguishable from the pork. They place mushrooms in a few more dishes than other places, and as I have a food intolerance for mushrooms, that has burned me a couple of times. A few other things like that, but nothing to break the overall need. Otherwise, the portions are decent, and the people are kind. I do wish they would update their picture boards and decor, as it's starting to look aged. COVID apparently shut down a dining room, and they continue to operate as a take away restaurant. read more

We were big Mardarin Garden fans. Been looking for another good Chinese place since they closed. First time here - good impression. Crab Rangoon on the large side. Slightly sweet filling but very yum. We also had lo mein, chick fried rice, pot stickers, orange chicken and Szechuan triple crown. All very good. Chicken fried rice, orange chicken and chicken with glass noodles (special) were all very good. The egg drop was not so good and we didn't eat it. Customer service was great. She was patient as I decided what I wanted to eat and the cook accidentally made an extra dish and they gave it to us for free. If staying in a hotel near the restaurant or hungry while driving on 70, stop here for some Chinese food. This location is a great place to get food. read more

Hands down, the best Crab Rangoon I've ever eaten! Each rangoon is completely filled with sweet creamy goodness and is cooked perfectly. Many times at other restaurants, the rangoon is over cooked.....crispy, crumbly and hard at the edges and under filled in the belly. Green China never over cooks and you won't be able to eat just one. You'd better have two because this is NOT what you are expecting! The fried rice is delicious and never too dry. I especially like the House Special Fried Rice. Let's just say it has a little bit of everything in it and you'll never order another rice again once you experience the 7th level of delight this dish takes you to. There are other great Chinese food establishments in the St. Louis metro area, but this little gem in Lake St. Louis is worth a drive. Their take out always delivers. We have always loved Green China in Lake St. Louis. However tonight was our worst experience yet! I ordered at 5:27pm and just finally got my $66 order (including a $10 tip) at 7:20pm after 2 different phone calls. When it was received it was cold as could be. Again called the store and the most that was offered was 15% on my next order. Very poor customer service and they have lost a long time customer. As I was told "it is the busy season" and I do understand the struggles. However, the website should give more accurate delivery times for delivery then. In no way is 1 hour and 50 mins appropriate if you want to keep customers...Especially when you live about a mile and a half down LSL blvd from them. read more

I ordered takeout just before 5pm. It's now 6:30pm, I called and asked for a status on my order. I'm on hold for over 5 minutes and then he says there's two other people ahead of me. I ask for some sort of compensation, but he deflects it. I tell him that this is the last time I'll be ordering from them and he says, "Cool," and hangs up on me. Awesome place... My wife and I have been frequenting this restaurant for years. My wife really loved their fried dumplings and crab rangoon. I found a couple dishes I could tolerate, as I never really liked this place but went to make the wife happy. Last night my wife ordered her usual favorites and an order of sweet and sour chicken. I got a couple egg rolls and beef and scallops. Nothing tasted right. Everything but the white rice had a strange aftertaste. At first I thought maybe the frying oil was old or rancid, but the beef and scallops (or should I say beef and scallop, as I only encountered one, despite being assured that there were eight present though unaccounted for) had an unpleasant aftertaste as well. It was a different unpleasant aftertaste, but it wasn't just a matter of I didn't like what I ordered; there was something amiss in the kitchen. The place was busy, and the woman behind the counter acted like she barely had time to take our order, so I wasn't optimistic that our complaint would be heard. But I went back up anyway. We had only eaten a few bites and had no intentions of finishing. The manager was summoned to the counter and listened to my story with an expression that was one part impatience and one part incredulity. He offered to make us something new, but I expressed my doubt that the new food would be substantially better. I requested a refund. He scoffed and said it couldn't be done. I protested and he offered me half my money back. Sensing this was the best offer I could expect, I agreed. We spent over $30 dollars. He handed me $6. I expressed confusion. When I explained that our bill had been $30, he literally threw his hands in the air, astonished at the temerity of expecting half of the entire tab, for food that was essentially uneaten. We stared each other down for a few uncomfortable moments until he lunged for the register, handed me $9 more, and exclaimed that they were too busy to argue about it, acceding to my, apparently, unreasonable demand. My wife speculated that perhaps they had recently changed management, as her dumplings tonight didn't resemble, in flavor or appearance, her favorite dumplings from the past. Personally, I'm kind of glad I'll never have to go back here, but my wife was very disappointed that a past favorite has deteriorated to such a point. read more

Best authentic Chineese Food in the Lake St. Louis \ O'Fallon area. They always get my order right when I call in and the food is always prepared fresh. Although it is not a very fancy place the dining room is always clean and the staff if friendly. The Pork Lo-Mein and Crab Rangoon are the highlights for me personally and the Hot & Sour Soup is the best I have ever had. read more

I have been a customer for years. Found this piece of metal in my house special lo mein. Had my family immediately throw the remaining meals in the garbage. Went there to show them what I found. I've eaten there twice. The first time I went I ordered chicken with almonds on the lunch menu. There were barely any almonds. The chicken was overcooked. It was hard and stringy. The crab rangoon was okay. The second time I went hoping it was a fluke and I caught the cook on a bad day. Sadly, it was exactly the same. I will never revisit. I was in your Lake St. Louis location this morning around 11:30am. A elderly women was ordering food and the lady behind the counter taking her order was the rudest most disrespectful person. She was screaming at the elderly women and ripped the coupon out of the customers hand. It was so bad i actually stood up to support the customer and the employee started yelling at me that she could not hear me and kept shouting. I walked out. I would never want to write a negative review, especially on a small business, however, I feel our last few orders require such. The last 2 times I ordered egg drop soup, 1 time had a gnat in the soup (forgivable, even though I couldn't finish the container), and the second time, had a "partially developed egg" (best way I can describe it) in the soup. My kids, however, love the lo mein and crab rangoons. I ordered that for them last night, and no joke, one of my girls pulled out a staple from one of her rangoons, and a hair from another. So we're talking bug, "partially developed egg," staple, and hair in all of our most recent experiences there. Great take out! I ordered online and it was quick! Sweet & Sour chicken, pepper steaks and egg rolls. All good! Tried the teriyaki chicken skewers but not our jam. It's a shame that this restaurant has gone down hill. This has happened several times already on past orders. Last night I placed a pick up order, drive to get it, and get home to realize they forgot part of the order and the side rice was wrong. I called to explain the issues only to be confronted and told I mis-ordered. I drove back to the restaurant to get the corrected items and was charged for the order errors. I have ordered from Green China 1 or 2 times a month for several years. The current staff has no concerns for customer satisfaction or ensuring the orders are correct. Ordered for delivery took almost 2hrs. Food was dry and barely warm when it arrived. We were missing the shrimp egg roll. I called twice 1 time when the order was an hour and twenty five minutes late and again when I saw the missing item. Both times the person who answered the phone was extremely rude. I was told to just have patience when I questioned how much longer and then was told immediately my missing item would not be delivered tonight but I could get it the next time I order or could drive there and get it myself. When told that would not work I needed it delivered tonight, I was told it would take 30 min to an hour, so now I have a very disappointed child who did not get his menu item.
