If you're in need of a cleaning service that won't just show up, slap a mop around, and leave a trail of disappointment, Green Clean LA is your answer. I've had them at two different homes in Beverly Hills and Larchmont for years now, and every time, they deliver. I can't say they've ever left me disappointed--except, of course, when they remind me how dirty my place was to begin with. They're professional, reliable, and surprisingly thorough. My place always feels like a little slice of heaven afterward, and even my picky cat (who has a sixth sense for anyone trying to escape her watchful eyes) is well taken care of. They're also careful not to let her sneak out, which is a feat in itself because she thinks she's the queen of the house. I've had them send two or three people depending on the job, and they bill accordingly. Great help in scheduling this and my questions were promptly answered. The 2 cleaners who showed up went right to work and kept going for several hours. This was for a move-in to a condo I bought from a very untidy (aka dirty) seller who left quite a clean-up job. It smelled bad and since the previous owner had a dog, I really wanted it detoxed and thoroughly cleaned. They came through and left it smelling much better and eased my mind about moving in. I am very happy with the service and the fact they used non-toxic cleaning products so I didn't have to worry about harmful chemicals on top of everything else. Wow. Just one cleaning later and these people have gone to the bottom. Do not use them. Due to the quality of the work done today, I will no longer require services from green clean. They really didn't do anything other than laundry and wipe down the bathroom. Not sure what I was paying for for two hours. Shoes were left out in living room clothes left out in bedroom paper on floor by couch. My shoes were not moved at all. The stuff on the ground was not moved which means they didn't really mop. I've never had a housekeeper, so this review is biased based on the fact that this is my first ever experience with two wonderful women cleaning my apartment for me. And what an experience it is! I never feel as good as I do once every four weeks when Green Clean sends my team of two amazing women to my home to clean for two hours. I started with the detox which was so incredible. They cleaned the inside of my oven!! They cleaned behind everything! I'm talking, no dust bunnies anywhere when they left! They even asked if I wanted them to clean my fridge. I decided not to and will save that for another time. I can't say enough good things about this service. And it's important to me that the products used in my home be environmentally friendly. They work well around my dogs and have never damaged any of my possessions. To be frank, hiring a cleaning service or person in Los Angeles brings a giant set of unknowns. With Green Clean I feel secure in knowing my residence is cleaned safely and professionally without any doubts as to its environmental impact. I use a non-toxic cleaning service because I have a high maintenance dog with severe allergies and a wife who makes me a better person by using environmentally friendly products. Truthfully, I really just don't care any more. I went to a severely liberal arts school, I spent years being holier-than-thou and to be perfectly honest I don't give a shit if someone uses fresh orphan blood to clean something as long as it works. But these are the compromises one makes in a marriage and as long as stuff feels clean I can support the hippie attitude. I'm sorry that others had negative experiences with Green Clean. The staff has always been very nice and done a solid job 95% of the time. With non-toxic cleaners you have to use a lot more elbow grease to get stuff clean and these folks have never skimped on my watch. I am here the entire time they do the cleaning and try and stay out of their way. Perhaps that's why I've gotten such a good experience. Or I'm not creating as much filth as I could and not challenging them. Truth be told, their fancy Miele vacuum doesn't get all the dog hair off my hipster Flor and I've got to do my own Hoovering later in the week. But it's clean. I acknowledge I pay more for the experience. With a $20 tip, a two person crew takes two hours and costs $115. I tip $20 ($10 each) because I like them. Could I pay less? Probably. Do I speak Spanish? No. Am I paying more to satisfy my inner hippie? Probably. Have I done any due diligence to find out if I'm paying more because they offer health benefits, union options, or other progressive "Green" values? Poor cleaning and poorer service. Pros: 1. They use eco friendly products 2. They were able to schedule very quickly Cons: 1. The two women were one hour late. I live in a new apartment building in Santa Monica, they told me there was traffic and they had been waiting behind my building for more than a 30 minutes. The reason I think they were lying is because they had Starbuck Frappuccinos that were still frozen... 2. I have floor to ceiling windows/doors that lead to an enclosed deck, they said they are not great at cleaning windows. 3. I was sitting in my office as they were cleaning and one of the women asked if it was okay that she, "quickly ate her lunch at my counter?" 4. It took them 3 hours to clean my apartment, but on the bill, they charged me for 3:15... and she ate her lunch during that time. 5. When I did my inspection, the did not clean inside the microwave, the fridge, dust my dresser or night stand in my room 6. They asked if they should vacuum certain rooms in my small (850 sq ft) apartment 7. At the very end, they did not know what my rate was going to be... they both said, "Lisa always does this." I knew what my rate was to be and they had to call Lisa and ask her to confirm. 8. I ended up being overcharged by $52.50. I called Lisa and she did refund me that amount. 9. She apologized about the service and said she would give me 50% off my next cleaning. I have placed to phone call and returned the email and have not heard back from her. The first call was place 6 weeks ago, the email was sent 10 days ago... still have not heard a thing. 10. I found it odd that Lisa said, they are not good at cleaning glass windows and doors. In my opinion, that would be the easiest part of owning a cleaning business... Windex and paper towels. read more

I've said before in other Yelp reviews that I'm an OCD clean freak and never believe anyone can clean my place as well as I can. Unfortunately I couldn't possibly handle the job myself when my 2 kitties and I moved into a new place that was COVERED in filth from the former tenants and the aftermath of repair/construction work. I spent hours upon hours cleaning this place myself for weeks after we moved in, but I just couldn't get it even close to my usual standards. After about 6 weeks battling the dust & dirt I finally gave up and admitted to myself that I needed professional help. As always, I was skeptical that someone else could really get the job done, but Debra and Adrienne proved me wrong. They were efficient and focused, and they worked their butts off for four hours, and at the end of it all my new home was finally CLEAN! Plus, they used aromatherapy essences that smelled so wonderful you'd think you were at the spa if you closed your eyes. I also really appreciated how kind they were - when I apologized for sticking them with such a major job they both insisted it wasn't that bad. I knew better, but it was sweet of them to handle it so tactfully. Having our home so clean made it really easy for me to keep it that way with my own weekly maintenance during the time that has passed since they did the job. Unfortunately, I was just out of town for nearly a week and though I had a wonderful pet sitter taking care of the kitties, there wasn't anyone here to do the daily maintenance cleaning. Hence, I returned home yesterday to find that an unacceptable amount of dust and cat hair had settled onto everything in my absence. On top of that, I sustained an injury on my trip that precludes me from doing anything requiring lifting, pushing or pulling! I scheduled the DETOX cleaning, which I do recommend for the first time. They pulled everything out and got into the tiny crevices, even under the fridge and stove! I love that they use all natural products, and the place smelled wonderful when I got back home that evening. The team that came over was on time, friendly, and did exactly what they said they would do, even texting me when they were done, telling me where they left the key. The only complaint I had was that they didn't put some of my things back the way they found them, which is a pet peeve of mine, but to be honest, I'm really particular about that, and many people may not be as fastidious about it. plus, I didn't mention that to the team when they arrived. To their credit, though, I contacted Lisa afterward and told her about that, and she responded immediately with an apology and gave me a choice: she promised to either send a new team next time or to talk to the original team and make sure they are more conscientious about it when they come back. In my book, a business that moves quickly and without argument to fix a situation to satisfy their customer is perhaps even better than one that got it perfect the first time. Also, I didn't want to leave a tip the first time, since I didn't know how good of a job it would be, but when I contacted Lisa to tip them after the fact, she easily adjusted my credit card charge for me. My Place was a nightmare. In shambles. I started a business a year ago and never had time to clean again. Seriously horrifying. I needed a miracle. Plus I wanted something eco & human friendly so I needed a green cleaner. My biz pard searched online for me and found Green Clean. We called. The guy was really nice and explained their products and philosophy and pricing and gave me 10% off for being first time and we scheduled a deep clean. My place is 1750 square feet and he said that usually takes about 4 hours for a deep deep clean, so that's what we scheduled. The day of cleaning - the one I'd been dreaming about for months - finally arrived and so did the two chicks from the Green clean crew, at 11.30 am, right on time. I was home the first 90 minutes and they worked their asses off the entire time. However, I could tell 4 hours might not be enough because my place really was disgusting and these girls meant business! They were pulling out my fridge and stove and cleaning underneath and inside and out, everything was shiny. As I was leaving, the crew was worried that they only had 2.5. hours left to be at my house and there was tons yet to be done. I was worried too. It looked like a 10 hour job to me. So, i asked them to work as long as they could. Around 4.30 Lisa called and said their day was over and they weren't done yet. That was not a surprise. It was just too big a job for that amount of time. Lisa wanted to schedule them to come back but I had scheduled carpet cleaners the next day and a couple of other things that made having my house cleaned immaculately seem crucial. I asked Lisa to do whatever she could and prioritized what was left to be done. I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. Well, i have to say, when I got home later that night, I was blown away at the AWESOME job they did. They stayed until the finished. It was gorgeous. It's never been this clean before. Ever. I had a detox cleaning done a couple of weeks ago and I was extremely pleased with the results. I had been extremely busy at work and dealing with an unexpectedly ill pet, and the apartment suffered. I wrote Green Clean with short notice before a friend was going to visit from out of town. Not only was Green Clean able to accommodate my schedule and shift things around to get cleaners to me on the day I requested, but they did an outstanding job. We had a detox cleaning done for our house after moving in. I feel much more comfortable now to let my kids roll around the carpet and floors. The cleaners arrived promptly. They were friendly and very detailed. They went through all the shutters and even cleaned the inside of the fridge. The carpet cleaning was a bit pricey but the guy helped lifted furniture and even cleaned inside the closets. The house smell nice but not a trace of nasty, harsh chemical at all. I just had my second cleaning with Green Clean, and I am definitely a FAN! Both times I have had the same cleaning team, which is really nice because you get to build a relationship with them, they have been on time both times -today they even got to my home 30 minutes early and called to see if it was ok to come in, a really nice touch because Iv'e had other cleaners just bust in on me in my pajamas because they were early! The ladies on my team are excellent! They got out the gross brown stains under the bowl of my toilet, vacuumed up at the cat hair, and are all around considerate, professional, and thorough. Plus the fact that the only use natural products is a huge plus! I will definitely keep using this service! The only reason I didn't give the full 5 stars is I think the people running this business are overworked, it can be very hard to get them on the phone! They are good with email, however, so that is the best way to get in touch with them. I'm just more of a phone person so I so far have called, not been able to get through their message system, and then remembered to email. *** Update 16 Aug 06*** After repeated communications from Lisa Hall, the owner of Green Clean, insisting they had new crew and would provide a better service (yet, still not offering to take care of what they didn't do on their first $130 visit), I decided to give them another try. We scheduled an 8:30a visit after I explained that I had to be out of the house by then and it was important they be there in the AM. At 8:45a, no cleaners. At 9:00a, still no cleaners. I can't wait any longer and leave. At 9:10, I get the call - they're waiting outside and want to know where I am. Gee, I'm on my way to work. Shocking. Needless to say, I wasn't about to go back home. I arrive at the office (late) to find an email from Lisa at 8:31am, detailing the fact that my $65 "routine" service only covers 1.5 hrs, and since they haven't been to my place in a while, it may take longer and that will cost extra. You tell me this after you didn't clean the first time, and throw that out there after the service should have already started? Are you fucking kidding me?! Half-Ass Cleaning + Zero Customer Service + Wasting My Time = No Business From Me. I suggest that if you want to have a green clean home, find a reliable housekeeper and provide them with Seventh Generation products to clean with. Give them some lavender essential oil to mix in the rinse water when they do a final on your floors and when wiping down the window sills. Don't bother calling Green Clean unless your idea of a green cleaning includes being cleaned out of your green. ***** This environmentally conscious cleaning crew scores major points with me (at least the 3 I'm giving them), just for introducing the concept. Billing themselves as LA's only eco-friendly cleaning service, their mantra is that they will clean your home with love, and that they do. They call their first visit a Detox (billed at $125-$300 based on size, versus the usual $65-$160). According to them, they: 'first utilize our eco-friendly techniques to meticulously clean and organize the entire place. This service tends to be a combination of adjusting to your cleaning needs, as well as a deeper more detailed method of preparing your home to make our maintenance service that much more efficient. This service can take up to twice as long as our follow up services. It also includes a starter kit of Seventh Generation products.' All I can say about this is, it's a good thing they left me the cleaning products, because I needed them when they were gone. Pros: Very personal service. I loved the guys who came out to clean. Having college-aged alt/indie types clean your house with essential oils is a trip. They really do mean it when they say they'll clean with love. Don't ask me how I know .. I just did. Cons: The detox is pricey, especially considering they didn't clean half of the things set forth on their own residential checklist, let alone the areas I requested be paid extra attention. Some things just need toxic chemicals to get clean - like my porous antique porcelain bathtub which still had black marks in it after the guy spent an hour working it over with oils and love. When they left, I was left needing to clean. In addition to the standard cleaning services one would expect, they also offer a wide range of alternative a la carte spiritual services for your home, (I shit you not), including energy cleansing and balancing, but I notice these things have been removed from their site so who knows if they're still on the menu. When I explained via e-mail to the founder that numerous basics hadn't been addressed on the visit (like vacuuming the ONLY rug I have in the dining room, cleaning the inside of the microwave, dusting the bookshelves and thoroughly sweeping the wood floors before they were mopped, never mind, making the bed - which was on THEIR list, and forget about the extras I made it a point of asking for), her response was that on the next visit they'd be sure to address those areas but for me to be aware that a standard visit lasts 1.5hrs and anything over that time would be billed at the hourly rate of $60. Excuse me?! I wanted to reply to that asking that they include with the service a little of whatever she was smoking when she wrote me that response. Unfortunately, I was so put off by the mediocre job that was done of the actual cleaning on my "detox" visit, that I didn't bother to have them back - despite the multiple follow-up calls they made. But, I wouldn't entirely discredit them yet. I'm hoping to see someone else give them a great review so I can bring myself to give them another chance... Green Clean came to do a Detox (deep clean) on our house last Saturday. It took them a little over 5.5 hours to thoroughly clean our 1600 sq ft home which was in need of much TLC with 4 young kids running around! We had previously used a service which claimed to use natural products but actually did not, but I noticed that the Green Clean ladies actually used all natural, earth-friendly products, a brand I recognized and see at Whole Foods and Sprouts and have used in the past. I think I also saw one of them putting essential oils in the mopping water? In any case, the house smelled and looked amazing after they were done. They certainly covered every spot--I was surprised to see that they had cleaned inside my medicine cabinet, which I didn't realize was in such dire need of a cleaning! With four young kids and homeschooling, I can never manage to clean my house well. It was such a relief to get my house cleaned so well. The ladies were so polite and hard-working and didn't miss anything, and easy to communicate with as well. The people at Green Clean were very responsive over email to all my requests and concerns. I've used other cleaning services, but decided to give Green Clean a try because of their eco-friendliness. I received a competitive quote for an initial "detox" and scheduled an appointment. On the day of the cleaning, the crew showed up over an hour late. Once they got started, the work went extremely slowly. Hours passed and they still weren't even half done cleaning my small 1 bedroom, 1 bath house. Finally the crew leader approached me: they'd used up their allotted time and could either leave the job only half finished, or start charging me by the hour. Hours later when they finally "finished" the job, the total cost was almost twice Green Clean's initial quote. On top of that they had broken a flower vase. Then over the course of the next few days, I kept finding parts of the house that had been completely missed. A shelf still covered in dust, tile in the bathroom that had been overlooked. It made their pretentious sounding "detox" service all the more laughable. Calling both the manager & owner proved to be completely unhelpful. This is an extremely poorly run company. They were late, overpriced, did mediocre work, and had terrible customer service. I wish I was able to give them less than one star. You are much better off finding absolutely any other company that uses environmentally friendly products. read more

I hired Green Clean to do a "deep clean", focused on the kitchen and 1.5 bathrooms. Wendy & Deborah were on time, polite, followed all my specific directions, and didn't break anything (this last one has been a problem with other people in the past). They brought their own gear too which was nice. They were very enthusiastic and Wendy was even up on the counter cleaning the window behind my sink (difficult to reach!) as well as getting the spatters on the wall above my stove, cleaning the top of the fridge, and the underside of the microwave. Deborah really nailed the bathroom with the details of dusting the baseboards and cabinet paneling. The two of them worked really hard in the kitchen and even pulled the stove and fridge away from the wall and cleaned all the dustbunnies out...highly recommended if you've never done this. I checked on them frequently during the three hours they worked to ensure efficient timing and catch things immediately (soaking cast iron stove grates in soapy water is a no-no!). I think any new staff will need to be tuned to my preferences, but they were really great. Things gleamed when they were finished, plus I liked the scent of the products they used. The scheduling is flexible too - I have had to change it a few times and they were able to accommodate. Great job. Hiring again! read more

The cleaning staff is always professional, thorough, and they treat everything in my house with care. Yes, they might be a slightly higher price point than other cleaning services. But they earn every damn dollar of it. If you don't mind a raggedy mop and bucket full of Mr. Clean, then no, Green Clean probably isn't the service for you. Using Green Clean was a very expensive disappointment. We hadn't had a cleaning service in a while, and though we keep our house neat, a deep clean was needed in preparation for relatives coming to visit. When making an appointment we were very clear about the square footage of our house -1675 sq ft- room arrangements, and the fact that we have a lot of nicknacks - many of which we took down to make it easier for them to dust and clean the shelves. The initial estimate was for about $290 for two people to deep clean our place (2 people for 4 hours, or 3 people for 3 hours) We had to pay a deposit of $162.50. They ended up sending three people and they took quite a long time. So long that we called to inquire about the time it was taking. To make a longer story short, when I checked my credit card statement a few days later, they billed me an extra $227.50 bringing the final cost to a whopping $390. And for that they did not clean the oven at all, did a mediocre job on the refrigerator and kitchen in general, they did not even dust several shelves in my office (no white glove necessary to detect that), the bannisters to our stairs looked like they hadn't been touched, and the top of the shower door in the master bath hadn't been touched. Again, no white glove necessary. The rest of what they did I would have considered acceptable- not great, but acceptable, if it hadn't been for the final cost. For $390 the place should have been sparkling. We paid more than enough for a deep clean and received what at best could be considered a mediocre basic cleaning that my wife and I had to spend more time cleaning after they left. We have been using Green Clean for about 3.5 years now for bi-weekly cleaning. The service they provide is excellent, we could not be more satisfied. They are always on time, they communicate very well if any schedule changes are necessary and are very responsive when we need to change things around. I work from home, and all of the cleaners are very respectful of my time & needs, and work around the office area. All of the cleaners we have been in contact with are friendly and professional. They are a little on the expensive side, but they provide great service and use natural, green products and do excellent work. I could not recommend them more highly, which is why we have been using them for so long. read more

Shirlesse and Wendy S. are the Dream Team! They showed up on time with fabulous attitudes and sunny dispositions! They came for a Detox Clean and left me with a sparkling clean house and a huge smile on my face. They moved the furniture and stove (!) to deep clean every nook and cranny. I never dreamed I would hire someone to clean my house (I'm completely OCD on the eco-clean front) but after months of traveling and working I was overwhelmed. This company is the BEST!!! I called them at the very last minute with an emergency - moving next day, workers left house a disaster zone. While I am sure it is not normal to show up 2 hrs after you call them, they did it and two women who came in Wendy and Debbi cleaned their hearts out and made it possible for us to move the next day. Their work was great and they were very pleasant without any attitude or dilly dallying. Lisa at the office was stellar in getting me exactly what I needed at the last minute.
