When we decided to eat here, we did not realize it was a counter service location. But we had already drove there and decided to stay. The place was packed, we were able to get a (still dirty) table, that we cleared off ourselves. We ordered and had a seat. I did not have high hopes. But, let me tell you, the food was incredible!! It's hard to chance upon bad Middle Eastern food, but I'll admit I may be bias. However, in Green Corner, I've found mediocre. I stopped by for a Sunday lunch. A few tables were occupied. I requested the gyros plate, but with baba ghanouj and tabouleh instead of hummus and Greek salad. I felt the gyros was on the saltier (too salty, in fact) side of the range I'd encountered. And their Syrian-style tabouleh--which emphasized parsley over bulger--had an inadequate, something-was-missing mouthfeel. Plus, I'd dial down/balance the pure lime juice. But, including tzatziki and baba ghanouj, this meal did cross over the tart boundary and made each bite more dislikable than the last. read more

If you are patient when they are busy (they usually are), it is worth the wait. The food is SO good. The portions are more than generous (we typically order the plates). The staff is always friendly. Ordered takeout before closing, they didn't hesitate (versus other businesses that huff and puff when it's close to closing). When I arrived, I asked if they had baklava that I could add to my order. To which the dude responded 'I already threw some in there'. That's the kind of thing that gets noticed, goes a long way, and is super appreciated. For the price. The food is amazing. Getting to the nitty gritty, the star of this dish was the Greek salad, meat and hummus. I got the gyro plate. I can tell the rice was fresh as ive made this rice before and it taste just like this. The rice could have more flavor though with more salt or seasoning for taste. Pita was alright. Chewy and warm. I came to this restaurant on a weekday for lunch and it was really busy. The wait for the food was longer than expected. When the food arrived, I did feel it was worth the wait. The salad, sides, and main dishes were all fresh and flavorful. My guest and I both had different combinations so I got to try a little bit of everything. The beef and lamb dishes were flavorful, but the chicken was dry. The sauces did make up for it. You can also substitute sides in the combinations for free. With the chicken dishes, I would recommend at least one side being tabouleh because the chicken is dry. I wasn't a fan of the dessert and the fountain drinks are expensive. There's a Press Coffee in the same center and a nice place to get coffee and a dessert afterwards. The restaurant is small and probably not a place I would want to take a date or out of town guests to unless it was for takeout. Overall, this is a solid takeout option for us in the future and the best Mediterranean food we have had thus far in the East Valley. read more

For my inaugural visit, I didn't know what to expect for a Sunday night dinner here. It was busy with young families and older couples. After seeking advice from the o staff we selected the gyro plate and lamb kafta kabobs. I enjoyed the gyro meat, Greek salad, fresh pita and creamy hummus but the delicious rice, I couldn't get enough of! My entree, was good in size for $9.49. My dining partners weren't as excited with their selection. Perhaps we all were expecting more than ground lamb in the mixed round balls on a skewer. (Perhaps that is what the perfect lamb kafta kabobs is but they said it was missing flavor and know up for next time.) It got better when the cafe, brought us complimentary baklava for dessert! Super excited to see Green Corner has opened up a location much closer to us and their food seems much tastier as well. We have been to the Mesa location a few times for dinner in the past; this restaurant is much more modern & spacious, and the staff is friendly and helpful. The only confusion we had was with their hours because the two signs on the door had different information. One read open until 9pm and the other read open until 6pm. But as we came to learn, this is still their "soft opening" phase so the hours are a little bit more condensed. The food here is amazing, definitely a must-try. I ordered the Chicken Shawarma plate. As you can see from the photo I posted, the size is very large. It comes with plenty of chicken, rice, Greek salad, as well as hummus & pita. I enjoyed everything on the plate but the Greek salad with chicken was my favorite, I might get just that next time! My husband got the Gyro pita combo which came with the sandwich, fries, and a drink. I had only a bite (that's all I could sneak in), which was delicious. Their fries were super crispy as well! Overall, a really good option for lunch or dinner. Their menu consists of multiple sandwich options, a few combos, and also larger plates. Such a disappointment. Ordered food to go during lunch during the week. Was told that the chicken skewers would take an extra 15 min. No problem. We tried the beef shawarma, chicken shawarma, and a gyro plate. Crisp fresh veggies and salad. All were tasty! Portion sizes was more than plenty. Appropriate for a famished adult. Come hungry or leave with leftovers. I did find my beef shawarma to be on the drier side though but everything else was good. I used to recommend this place to everyone and anyone, I used to try to eat here as often as possible. The price for the quality is insane, however on April 15th I discovered why the low prices. I had a particularly rough day and wanted to eat at my favorite restaurant. I ordered a beef kebab plate and got four bites in before finding a bug in my food. When my wife brought the food up to ask for it to be remade, the cashier asked if we expected him to pick it out with a tissue since "bugs exist and that's not their problem" My wife asked for a manager since this was outright rude, to which she was asked "what manager?" and told he left, the cashier walking away immediately after. Now I've worked in the service industry, I choose to work in veterinary medicine because it's exhausting, but it truly is not mine nor my wife's problem that your cashiers hate their jobs and want take it out on others, especially when we were nothing but kind and respectful, including giving a 30% tip, solely because I love the establishment and I understand having a hard day from time to time. The cashier came up to us and told us he could replace the food "if that's what we wanted", we said please and were told it would be 10 minutes or so, which was more than fine. Things seemed resolved and I was fine with the outcome until I looked behind my wife and saw the cashier and two others, one being a MANAGER, discussing the situation. I watched the cashier explain to the manager that he told my wife he left so they didn't have to deal with it, and then watched him motion and explain how they'd scrape just that bite with the DEAD INSECT off and replate the same food because I'd "never notice". I watched them continue to talk about me not wanting to eat a bug in my meal in a beyond negative way until the cashier and I made eye contact. He told them I was looking at them, resulting in all 3 of them now staring at me from across the restaurant, then proceeding to crouch down to continue talking. Me and my wife just left because at that point it was making my hard day 10x harder than I needed it to be, which made the same cashier wave at us as we walked out. All the while I was having an allergic reaction to the tobouleh, with no complaints since that is out of their control, I just wanted to enjoy a meal after a hard day at my favorite restaurant. If you like shitty attitudes and bugs in your food while sitting indoors, please come here, if not I'd advise to go elsewhere. The combo platter was more than enough for two people and it lets you try their beef, lamb and chicken. Their falafels were perfectly crispy on the outside and moist in the middle. The service was good. Only complaint I have was their water (from the self serve soda machine) had a weird salty chemical taste to it. But theirs other fountain drinks were good.
