The pork was perfectly tender and had that amazing 'wok hay' flavor. The Misses & Changes: Braised Tofu (4/5): Still good, but I remember this dish being better in the past. I was visiting a friend and was in the area looking for something good to try. This came as a recommendation. The restaurant is on a strip mall with sufficient parking. It is not overly big or small. Decor is quite modern with a fish tank in the front. Menu has variety. We ordered the sliced fish in chili oil and was surprised at the big portion. It came well packed where leakage is almost impossible. It does not come with rice so I'm assuming the other dinner dishes don't come with rice as well. A box of rice was $1.50, which is not bad, they actually use good quality rice with this yellow chia seed type grain, couldn't quite make out what it was. Been on the quest for good authentic Chinese food in my area for a while now. Been here a couple times now and this place seems to fit the bill! Located in the New Milford plaza which really seems to have everything despite its small parking lot. I've only gotten the Raised Tofu so far which I'm a fan of since they give you a good portion of tofu rather than most tofu based dishes which are tons of veggies and minimal pieces of tofu, and overall the portion size is pretty good considering the price. However, I will say that I think it's odd that rice costs extra, which I was not aware of when I placed my takeout order. My wife tried the dumplings and noodles and similarly has been satisfied. I mainly took a star off due to the service and massively underestimated wait time if they are busy. I assume this is a family run restaurant and they were incredibly understaffed. Lines would be long and take forever just to even get to the register. My wait times were quoted 30 minutes but take well over an hour to prepare. However, the food is good so I'll keep coming back. This is a rare find because not only does Green Dragon serve authentic Chinese food, they specialize in Northern Chinese food, which is very difficult to find in this area. I stopped by to pick up some lunch and I can say confidently that I will be back many more times in the future. I got a braised tofu, a stir-fried beef with scallions, and one of their specialties, the sweet & sour pork. It is important to note that the sweet & sour pork is not the version that you get at your typical Chinese takeout place. This is legit sweet & sour pork that people in China eat. It's located in a small strip mall and Dairy Queen is right next door if needed. Sat in a booth and place reeked of tobacco and I'm not sensitive to tobacco smells either. Firstly the small restaurant is clean and cozy. I am giving a preliminary review because the dishes I chose were better eaten at the restaurant. They can also put holes in the container to reduce moisture. The Generals Shrimp has a great sauce better than any general's sauce I have had. My issue was with the medium shrimp I think they should be large and butterfly. The shrimp tasted fresh and the broccoli so good with the sauce. The shrimp and pork dumplings have the potential to be the best along with the sauce but the container affected the texture when I finally opened it. Like I said it's a preliminary review. What a wonderful find! Our favorite Chinese restaurant closed so we looked on Yelp for a place for dinner. This had a great rating and was close by. A huge menu, with different categories including dozens of dishes we had never heard of, and a separate category for "American dishes", so we knew this would be something special. Quiet music played in the background. Our server was very helpful in clarifying which dishes were spicy or VERY spicy and answered any questions. We ordered an appetizer of cucumbers with parsley (without sesame seeds which I can't have), which was enormous and delicious. My spouse ordered spicy Sichuan fish. Wow! So much fish with red peppers! I had 5 skewers of BBQ lamb. A little spicy, just as I had been warned. All accompanied by white rice with bits of corn. Everything was nuanced and delicious. We took home enough for at least another meal, along with a desert of sweet pumpkin pancakes which are super yum. I may be full, but I had to taste them fresh, didn't I? Fried pork - Never came after two hours of waiting. Had to cancel order. Knowing this restaurant had just opened a few months ago and needs to work out problems on multiple fronts, we were tolerant of the mistakes and expressed our understanding of the long wait time. The frustration grew quickly after watching table after table that came after us got their food, with some of them ordering the same or similar dishes as ours. No apologies or explanations given during the whole time. I came with high expectations after reading glowing reviews on Yelp and red note, not knowing this would turn out to be the worst one in my 20+ years of dining experience.
