Nothing to me there blows me away......one major gripe is that their fried rice is yellow. Fried rice is not supposed to be yellow when made right. Fried rice is generally made with white rice and soy sauce which makes it brown, not yellow. Unfortunately, a large amount of Chinese takeout places have yellow rice these days. Chicken wings and fries are really good here, but wish they'd sprinkle some seasoning on the fries and wings. Definitely a good choice for Chinese though if you're in the area. I'm a fan of their half chicken with fried rice special. For $7 you get a lot of chicken with a lot of rice. You could definitely split it between two people. The chicken is fried well; a satisfying crunch to it without having the inside dried out. The food gets cooked fairly quickly and the service is pretty good. They throw in freebies if your order hits a certain price. Rather than getting a soda I'd opt for an egg roll. If you can't stand to wait, call ahead to place your order. Also, there's a $10 minimum for credit card. If you want quick, decent food (and don't want McDonald's or the like) Panda House isn't a bad choice. read more

We are Chinese food aficionados. From Mott Street, to Flushing, to any highway and byway in NJ where we get a whisper of a glimmer of a recommendation, we are there. Dim Sum, served classically with the carts, or nostalgically on huge trays (ala Nom Wah). Peking Duck served with flour 'tortilla' or classic rice 'clamshell'.....3 a.m Ginger Scallion Lo Mein at Wo Hop on Mott... Having just moved to Bergenfield, of course we explored our take-out options. Panda came up again and again - with people on line at the supermarket, waiting for a pizza, having a beer. So, not expecting as much as we think people thought of them, we ordered a few items with which we test the proverbial waters: Roast Pork Lo Mein, Sesame Chicken, Won Ton Soup, Egg Roll. This is by no means our regular order. But, if a place can pull all of these very basic, need we say it, American Chinese concoctions, they might be able to do the stuff we like, really. All were good, served up by a sweetheart of a lady who runs the counter. Smiling and personable, time flew as we chatted about the neighborhood. The day after we moved into our home, we were nowhere near ready to make dinner, so we made a call to Panda. This time, we ordered: Crispy Fried Chicken, Peking Style Pork Chops, and Salt & Pepper Calamari. Jackpot. The Crispy Fried Chicken is just that: perfect nuggets or perfectly fried boneless chicken. The simple flavor was wonderful, and they were so hot we had to give them a moment to cool down. A fine time to dig in to the Calamari. Look. Fried Calamari is a crapshoot. It's either rubber bands, or meltingly delicious. It's not easy for a Take Out place to do them this well. They weren't perfect, but there was enough goodness to plan on ordering them again. The slivers of fried fresh ginger and I think I remember seeing a few scallions were nice touches. Very nice. Let's look, though, at the Pork Chops. Sweet Mother of all that's good and lovely: fantastic. Mostly boneless --- but don't chomp down - they are real pork chops, so, real bones -- use caution -- but the perfect crispness, the tenderness, those little edges of super crisp fat -- are you kidding me???? We were halfway thru the dish before we even remember the lovely Peking sauce that went with it. We took that separate from the chops so as not to soggy them up. That sauce was good on all we had ordered. A side note here: they offer a real deal on catering pans -- wings, lo mein, tso's chicken -- nice deals. Panda House. Go. I love this place! Is my go to for Chinese in my area. I've gotten the general tso chicken, sesame chicken and orange chicken. The lunch menu is a deal breaker, it comes with a can of soda. If you order over 20 you get a free soda and your order comes with a egg roll, if it's over 25 you can get general tso chicken. They don't deliver which is a major downside. Since they dont deliver I had to go pick it up. The place looked clean other than an empty fish tank sitting on the side. The person who helped me was nice and had my order ready. Now for the food. I ate the pepper steak and it had like a few pieces of steak on top but they kind of just melted in my mouth when I ate it. I which it had more of a steak feel to it. The rest was undercooked peppers and well cooked onions. The pork fried rice had very fatty pieces of pork which I didn't eat. The rice was seasoned well though. The egg roll was good had a tasty filling and crispy shell. The mixed vegetables were really good and cooked well. I give this one star for the containers and cute rice container, but that is it!! Fried rice looks like Spanish rice, but unlike either Spanish or fried rice has no flavor. The shrimp are so small!!! Each time I ate here I became sick. The food tasted good but I got sick the 1st time and wasn't really sure if it was from here or something else I ate that day. The 2nd time I ate here I became really sick so I felt like it was this food. And then months later my husband bought food from here when we worked late and were tired and it was easy and quick.
