JiangNan has easily become one of my go-to spots for Chinese food in North Jersey. The interior has a nice, slightly upscale atmosphere, but the pricing remains surprisingly reasonable for Fort Lee. Plus, it's located in a small plaza with a free, ample parking lot, which makes dining here super hassle-free. The staff is always friendly and the service is consistently great. I recently started ordering takeout from them, and it's been a great experience. Their lunch specials are a fantastic value. I also like their braised noodles. They don't look like much but they are packed with flavor, though occasionally they can lean a little heavy on the oil. When I went to the restaurant, I wasn't aware they are a Micheline star restaurant, but after experiencing their incredible food and amazing service, I can totally see why they deserve it. They have nice industrial style interior, with rotating tables for large groups and synchronized iPads for tables that allow multiple guests order for the table at the same time, without the need to wait for the server. For our large group, we order a bunch of dishes that included the seafood fried rice, the garlic eggplant, walnut mayo shrimps, pecking duck, soy braised beef brisket with potato, black fish in peppercorn broth and a bunch of veggie dishes. All these dishes were so well cooked. Had such good taste. My favorite were the beef brisket (such tender beef), the fish in Sezchuan broth (deliciously super spicy), the eggplant (on sweeter side), the duck (we made our own bass) and the yummy walnut shrimp. We also got the soup dumplings, but that was the only item I didn't like. Our service was amazing through out the night. All the drinks and dishes came out in short time. Most of the dishes had small furnace underneath to keep them warm. The staff members regularly cleaned out the empty plates and dishes. While we dined, there were four different birthday parties where they sang for the group. A fancy black concept Chinese restaurant ..... Had a hard time locating exactly where the restaurant was when we entered to park from Palisade Avenue. It is in the basement so better to enter from Schlosser Ave for main entrance. Among all the menu from the tablet, we only ordered the Peking Duck that seemed decent and famous for. The platter came out with the duck nicely carved - mostly breast part only - accompanied with sliced scallion, cucumber & pineapple. While we were wondering where the restaurant of the duck went, we found out from the menu that we can request "soup" with the leg and all the rest. (Which we did). Came to Jiang Nan to celebrate a birthday with Yelp friends and had a wonderful time. It was my first time visiting a Michelin recognized establishment and it did not disappoint. Since we were a group of nine, they sat us at a table with a large clear Lazy Susan. It made the entire meal very comfortable and more personable. The electronic tablet menu made ordering very convenient and the enclosed menu photos made our selections much easier. One note.....this restaurant is BYOB. We ordered and happily shared the following: Kumquat lemon tea, Peking Duck, chicken and shrimp soup dumplings, roasted cauliflower, crispy shrimp with honey walnuts, boiled black fish in a spicy Szecuan red peppercorn sauce (pleasantly numbing my lips), DELICIOUS eggplant in garlic sauce, shrimp, water spinach, and fried rice. Each dish was well presented and I enjoyed how everyone described their experience in detail after each bite. I cannot give enough compliments to our Server, Aya. Pretty good selection of fancy-ish, banquet-style Chinese dishes. I didn't realize this is a sprawling chain with a location in every corner of NYC, from Flushing to LIC, as well as a branch in Boston. We came for Xmas lunch in Fort Lee and the place was thoroughly decked out in decorations, complete with a playlist of the best of Mariah Carey. One of the specialties is the roast duck which, if you order the full version, they'll roll up table-side and prepare for you. It's a whole production. The duck is not bad but I wouldn't get it again; I thought the canned pineapple chunks on the side, along with the usual accoutrements of julienned cucumber and green onion, was an interesting choice. The best part of the duck is actually the soup they make with the bones from your order. Very aromatic, with napa cabbage and tofu, and perfect with rice for a winter day. I much preferred the fish doused in ginger and scallion oil, as well as the crab and tofu in a clay pot. As for veggies, get the spiced cauliflower with pork belly, which was full of flavor for a relatively unassuming dish, instead of the stir-fried pea sprouts, which came in a massive, unappetizing oil-logged pile. Soup dumplings were just okay, you can get much better and cheaper ones only a few blocks away. They do a rewards point program where you can earn points each time you eat here and can use those points to swap out for certain dishes and pay for others but make sure to tell the waiter ahead of time. read more

It was delish and I liked that they served it with chunks of pineapples. It helps cut through the grease from the crispy duck skin. We ordered a Matsutake & Mixed Mushroom soup, a highly prized fragrant fungus that is only found in pine forests making this particular mushroom type rare and expensive to cultivate. Overall, a good food place. They are located on the 1st floor of a building. There is a strip mall parking area above ground and in the basement. There is a kiosk on the desk where you can see their menu and order. Since we are new here, a waiter came to show us their popular and recommended dishes. Upon entering the restaurant, I immediately noticed two Michelin signs dated 2022, still prominently displayed in 2024, which initially raised my expectations. Excited by this, but knowing Michelin does not review New Jersey restaurants gave me a bad taste in my mouth. I proceeded into the foyer where I was greeted by a self check-in station. I completed the self check-in and stood there for approximately five minutes before being acknowledged. Eventually, a host approached and seated us fairly quickly, though it did not appear that they were actively referencing or managing the waitlist. The coat check was minimal at best--simply a rack placed off to the side of the restaurant, fully exposed, with no designated place for hats or personal items, which felt unorganized for an establishment presenting itself at this level. Once seated, we were given one electronic menu to share. After about five minutes, only one of us had access to the menu, which was then passed to me so I could make my selections. Roughly ten minutes later, after our choices had already been made, the server brought us a second electronic menu. Drinks were then delivered as the server finalized our order. For appetizers, we ordered chicken and shrimp dumplings, which were quite good. That said, they were very similar in taste and execution to dumplings commonly found elsewhere--enjoyable, but not particularly distinctive. The pork spring rolls, however, were disappointing. Instead of a thin, crisp wrapper, they were encased in a thick shell, with very little meat inside and a noticeable lack of flavor. They were not memorable. I also had a pork dish featuring a backbone, which was actually the standout item of the evening. While the portion was very small with limited meat, the preparation was well executed and comparable to similar dishes found in other restaurants. It ended up being the best thing I had all night. Following the appetizers, a post-entrée dish was served--similar to a kimchi preparation. This was excellent: spicy, refreshing, and full of flavor. Main Courses * Shrimp fried rice was decent, but underwhelming for the price. The shrimp were not cleaned properly, and the portion contained very few shrimp, which made the dish feel overpriced. * Kung Pao chicken was good, with noticeably better-quality chicken than what is typically found at many restaurants. * Fried pork was good, but ultimately bland and failed to stand out or meet expectations. * Another pork appetizer (the name escapes me) consisted of a pork bone or backbone with sauce. While tasty, it again suffered from very little meat, making it feel more like a novelty than a satisfying dish. We did not order dessert. Overall, I did not find this restaurant to be Michelin-quality in any sense. I have dined at many Michelin-recognized restaurants recently, and this experience did not align with that standard. The ambience felt closer to a cafeteria-style environment than a refined dining room. The waitstaff continuously carried tablets that emitted constant beeping sounds, similar to incoming text notifications. Over time, this became distracting and nerve-racking. When dining out, I expect either a calm atmosphere or the natural buzz of conversation--not persistent electronic noise. This alone would deter me from returning. Additionally, the small plates used for sharing were never replaced or refreshed between courses, from appetizers through the main dishes, which further detracted from the overall dining experience. In conclusion, while there were a few bright spots, the experience fell short of expectations, especially for a restaurant displaying Michelin recognition. read more

When my kid wants Peking Duck, I'm stuck and have to go here as there's no other restaurants around with it. Upon looking at the menu, I'm just at awe at how expensive the dishes are. The place was nice, modern and moderately quiet. The dishes that we ordered came out warm to cool. The rice was too hard. Rather disappointed in that. Suitable for fried rice the next day though. The fish is my favorite, but the price for it is outrageous. It was the only thing that was warm, due to the tea light candle underneath. We ordered a full Peking Duck. Not sure why another table got a show, and we didn't. The flame thrower they used could have been helpful to warm up the duck some more. Nevertheless, pancakes were super thin, which is nice. Heard of this place opening in Jersey so came over to try on a weekend lunch. We were greeted at entry and brought to our table right away. Service was friendly though perhaps a few more check in a would have been nice. Had to wait for more water at times but all in all would say service was good. Overall we did enjoy everything we ordered. We tried to Peking Duck and also string beans, egg plant, and fried rice. Favorites were the eggplant and obviously the Peking duck was really good. We've been to this restaurant twice, in the past six months, so I figured it's time for the review. First off, what they did inside with the layout, lighting and decor is fantastic. This space used to be a dingy, run down Sports Bar that was never packed. Not even on a Sunday, during football season. The staff is very friendly, accommodating, and always manages to find you a table; without a reservation. Tables are equipped with small IPad like devices, that makes for a fun ordering experience. On both visits, we ordered a few apps./snacks and maybe one or two mains. The Peking Duck Spring Roll is amazing. You should select "2" on the quantity tab. Both times, the Soup Dumplings were disappointing {Steamed Pork & Black Truffle w/Pork}. Presentation is great, but they fell short. The Crystal Pear Bun w/Red Bean was fun, but more of a dessert than snack. Cumin Lamb entree (From 1st visit-no photo) was tender and flavorful. The Stir-Fry Pork Belly w/Green Pepper was way too spicy. The 2:1 Pepper to Pork ratio is a bit unsettling. One thing I've noticed is that there are large, loud laughing groups of people having the time of their lives. With an orgy of food on big platters. I need to give this place another visit, with a bunch of people and try that way of dining. Also, watching the Table-Side Peking Duck routine made me a bit jealous. read more

The first time we had Jiangnan was in Flushing and the experience was great so I was excited to have lunch here at this location. The exterior of the restaurant is a bit unappealing but the interior is nicely design. We ordered a large fish maw and chicken soup, tofu with crab, and fried chicken with dough. The fish maw and chicken soup came in a pretty large container but it was mostly broth with a few pieces of chicken. It tastes very good but I don't think it's worth the price... maybe get a small to drink the soup? The fried chicken and dough were good but very spicy. The highlight of the lunch was the tofu and crab sauce. It's delicious and had a strong crab flavor, goes very well with rice. The staff were pleasant but did not come around the table at all to check in during the entire meal. Our experience here was definitely not comparable to the Flushing location. This restaurant is located within a complex of a bunch of other Korean restaurants, plenty of free parking available. We had originally wanted to go to a different restaurant in the same complex but there was a half hour wait for it. We saw this restaurant nearby and decided to take our chances because of the shorter 10 minute wait time. I'm so glad we did! It was really good! Pretty much all the food that we ordered was a hit. Honey walnut shrimp was HUGE where the heck did they find these shrimp lol?? Stir fried pea shoots were great but this is hard to mess up. Chicken and fish maw soup was suuuuper chickeny and flavorful, really warms your soul type of soup. Seafood fried rice was awesome, but I would skip the xiao long baos next time. Presentation of the Beijing duck was so nice and I love that it came with the skins rather than the buns. Service was excellent, you order on the iPads but there were still plenty of wait staff wandering the floor and eager to help you if you needed anything. Food came out really quickly too. The only reason I an dinging half a star is because there were some flies in the restaurant that kept trying to get on our food so constantly trying to swat them away was a bit annoying. Took me awhile to write this as I dined here a few times when it first opened. Thankfully they opened an outpost of this popular chain in Fort Lee as there definitely has been a dearth of good Chinese restaurants amid a sea of mostly solid Korean restaurants. Generally speaking the food here is pretty pricey but you get exactly what you pay for. The quality of their dishes are all very high and the duck as you'd expect, is a real standout. The variety of other dishes ranging from shrimp to scallion beef to spicy wontons and even the mango dessert were all excellent. I really don't have any complaints at all when it comes to the actual quality of the food. Order via the tablet is also very easy and the staff is very attentive. The ambiance of this place is pretty dark. They do a nice job of strategically positioning the lights so it really shines on the table to make the food look good for photos. However, it is still kinda dark and not the most family friendly vibe. Regardless it's still a great place to grab a nice meal. My first impression- the table right when you walk in - there is an open lap top, papers, menus and various items. Not a great impression for a so called "upscale" restaurant. It's really something you see at a Chinese take out. We were a party of 10, why did they sit us along the wall and not at a round table with a lazy susan? So much easier to share family style. We had to get up and walk the food to the other end of the table. Forgot to put in one order. This was for my kids. I only ordered 2 dishes for my kids so I was on the lookout for it. Food was ok. Upscale Chinese restaurant that specializes in Peking duck. Reservation is highly recommended especially on weekends. While the Peking duck here is not the best I've ever had, it's probably the best you can get in Bergen county. Prices are definitely on the high end, but $100 for a whole Peking duck isn't too bad. Their other dishes were good and I like that their menu is on an iPad and everything has photos. read more

Very very good restaurant.Had to wait for 45 mins on a friday evening for the table,but well worth it. Loved everything we tried. The variety of dishes in the menu is incredible. Nice ambiance and very attentive staff. They have a rewards system for frequent diners. Must try in the fort lee area. Our absolute favorite is the sizzling cumin lamb. read more
