Legit Chinese/Taiwainese noodle soup at the mall? For real? YES, FOR REAL. Having lived in NYC for many decades, I was very spoiled by my seemingly "next door" access to authentic Chinese/Taiwanese food and, more specifically, noodle soups. On those cold, wintry days, it was my go-to entree and not much can substitute for those hot, tasty broths, noodles and meats. Anyway, for the size of this state, possibly the best Chinese noodle soup served in town might very well be at the mall! Yes, it's going to be a dollar or two overpriced, but beggars absolutely cannot be choosers. Most customers at the mall come here really just for the Americanized Chinese food that is generously served here in gargantuan, fully packed takeout boxes - fried rice, noodles, orange chicken, kung pao chicken, chicken w/ broccoli, barbecue chicken, General Tso's chicken, etc., etc., etc. However, no offense to Yong Kang Street, but, I wasn't here for any of that greasy food because, honestly, you can get that ANYWHERE. We ended up ordering the Roast Duck Noodle Soup and Wonton Noodle Soup, both of which were actually made to order as I watched the lady put the super duper hot bowl together. The bowl was actually so hot that even 1.5 hours after I got home, the soupy bowl was still piping hot! Anyhow, the noodle soup was surprisingly delicious. The noodles were a bit soft, but the broth was very flavorful without being overly salty. There was some Chinese Broccoli and chopped up scallions in the noodle soups and they really added to the flavor of the entree. The meats were also very good. As we were eating, my question was - where does this place find their duck?!? Because it was pretty good duck meat. We also loved their pork wontons as well. Typically, the wontons served with noodle soups are made with pork and shrimp, but it was just pork here...and, well, it worked! The wontons were very delicious and well put together. Never would I have thought a small mall vendor would serve some of the best noodle soup in the area, but Yong Kang does. Goes to show you that you never know where good food might be hiding, so always give new places a try. As for us, we DEFINITELY found our new noodle soup go to spot. read more

I wrote three other reviews tonight because I did not want to be negative and start the new year off with a 1 star review. This evening, we decided to go out on a limb and order delivery from this restaurant from our favorite delivery app despite its middling reviews, since the pictures looked pretty good and there were a few people that called this place "legit" or "best." I honestly wanted to like this place. When we opened our food, we put in a complaint to our delivery app immediately because we thought the restaurant gave us the wrong buns (we ordered xiao long bao - soup dumplings). But now looking back, I think the buns we got were actually this restaurant's soup dumplings. The skins were way too thick and the meat was beef, not pork - or - at least it looked like beef? And there was no soup in the soup dumplings. We got roast duck with fried rice. There was barely any duck meat in the roast duck. It looked like they cut up the bony parts of the duck in particular and we got the roast duck bones. The wontons - how do you describe the fillings - doughy? Whoever made the fillings definitely put too much cornstarch or flour in it. The Taiwanese beef noodle soup - the noodles themselves tasted grainy, and the soup felt like it had way too much soy sauce. The pepper steak - the meat was way too chewy. We could not bite through it. I did not even know that was possible. We threw away most of the food and ended up heating up some leftovers from lunch and frozen food from our local Asian supermarket. It was garnished with cilantro and scallion and wished it was tastier. Noodles were cooked well. But, overall not good. The Taiwanese Shredded Chicken Soup is pretty good. If you order to go, you get a bowl with made-to-order noodles, chicken slices, cabbage, and fresh cilantro, and a separate soup container with flavorful broth that's been simmering all day. When I got home, I poured the broth into other bowl and let it sit for a bit. Then I ate. It was pretty good. Broth was tasty, noodles had a good chew, and other ingredients were fresh. 3.5 stars. I ordered the pork wonton soup via Uber Eats. They packaged it very well for travel. I was feeling very nauseous today, so the pretty bland broth was perfect. It's mall food, so no high expectations. Has the aroma of a traditional beef noodle soup, but everything else is lacking. I really hate to give a negative review because they used to be pretty good -but what happened? Really rude, poor customer service with poor quality Chinese foodI I don't mind rushed - it's a mall and I expect that-but rude customer service is never okay. Ordered food for my kids because they usually like the noodles and general Tso chicken- but it's mostly breading with a boatload of sugar and msg at this point. The beef noodle soup was okay -but now the pieces of beef are a lot smaller and there is way too much fat. I was pretty shocked at how downhill the food quality and service has gone! I had a long wait and the food was meh, so never again. Half the outlets in the food court are closed but as I walked by I figured I'd give this place a try. I ordered dumplings and was told it would take 10 minutes, so I waited. And waited. And waited. A couple walked up who had ordered noodle soup and the person working on the orders that weren't coming from the steam trays up front took loving care to put together their soups, she packaged them nicely, included everything they needed, and then just walked away. Finally the cashier looks over and says something to her. She walks in the back, gets the dumplings, dumps them into a container and pushes it towards me. No bag, no chop sticks or forks, nothing. Just walks away again. I had to ask the cashier for a bag so I could carry them out (I had a drink and couldn't easily carry both). The cashier obliged and I was on my way. The dumplings are meh at the most. They taste like the cheapest of the frozen dumplings you can pick up in any Asian market freezer. Never again. read more

I really love this place! Their wonton soup is one of my favorites to get (I always add some of the provided sambal oelek to it, too!) The broth is flavorful and they give you a a lot of noodles and dumplings for the price! I've had the Taiwanese beef noodle soup once too which was good (it all depends on your preference for beef vs pork). The broths are simmered all day and the noodles are all cooked fresh to order! I think their other food seems pretty good, too but I'll admit I pretty much only come here for the soup but the samples of chicken I've tried have always been flavorful and fresh-tasting. Been waiting for this place to finally open in the mall food court. And now that it finally has, I'm excited to try all the options! It seems to have opened fairly recently and it certainly stands out because it's brightly lit (giving off a very clean vibe) and tastes fresher than any Chinese food you've ever had in a food court. The employee handing out samples won me over. The General Tso's Chicken didn't taste cheap and overdone. So we gave it a try along with the fried rice. Even the little bits of chicken at the bottom of your dish were actual pieces of chicken and not the super bready parts that aren't enjoyable (yet somehow are... you know what I mean). There were a couple of noodle options available. I'm also looking forward to trying their various noodle soups (Taiwanese style, Hong Kong style, Japanese style). They also have dim sum and smoothies/bubble tea to finish. Priced competitively with similar fast food yet you don't walk away feeling bloated or over salted. The only bowl of Taiwanese Beef Noodles Soup that is claimed to be almost authentic. It is my go to order every time I hit this mall to go shopping. It gives me enough energy to circumnavigate this mall. The beef is melt in the mouth tender. The pickled mustard gives this sour/umami taste to the beefy broth. The mounds of noodles has a very nice chew to it. The chopped Serrano pepper gave a slight heat. The broth I can taste the ginger, star anise and was probably steeped many hours with the beef to give this nice rich taste. The vegetables used are fresh Chinese greens. read more

Authentic Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup, jalapeños included. Decent quality cuts and properly cooked beef tendons. Appropriate portion size for the price. The Japanese Tonkasu Ramen is made with the right cuts of pork, though very lightly spiced and the marbling of the pork is quite lean, which is what one should be looking for. Don't be eating Tonkasu if you're looking to spare your figure. The service is like what one would expect of any mall quick service eatery. Nothing rude, but nothing extraordinary either. Overall, a safe bet for authentic tasting Asian food representing their ethnic regions of origins. read more

I've tried this place a couple of times. As far as mall Chinese food goes, it's not bad. This establishment is located in the food court of Garden State Plaza. I was starving after picking up some items in the mall, and although I usually avoid mall food courts, due to the price gouging, I was in the mood for some mall Chinese food. This place satisfied my hunger. The food is pretty greasy and not the most flavorful, but it's decent and plentiful. I ordered the two choice combo with two side dishes and two main dishes. Both times, I got the lo mein and fried rice as my sides. Also both times, I got two chicken dishes as my main dishes. The chicken dishes and the fried rice were just okay. The chicken dishes, were greasy and the fried rice was pretty dry. But, the lo mein was pretty good. Best of all, the portions are really generous. I also liked that they gave me free samples to try. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the noodle soups are. Roasted Duck Noodle Soup and Taiwanese Style Beef Noodle Soup so far. The broth for the duck was so clear when they were pouring it into the bowl I was afraid it was going to be flavorless but wow it was so rich and creamy! The beef noodle soup was excellent for mall food. The broth was delicious, and the braised beef was tender and flavorful. It was pretty salty, but really not as salty as some of the more famous ones with the same name (in vegas!) I'm not sure if this place is related or they just decided to name the restaurant after the same street. I don't really care as long as the food is good:) The only downside is that the noodles are a bit thin and it's not al dente. But for mall food, I suppose I can overlook that part. read more

I pointed out to the employees that there was money at the bottom of the canister holding the forks. They argued back that the forks are in plastic. Since we know viruses can live on surfaces for a long time and cross contamination is an issue, I asked them to just take the money out. They were a bit combative. Not as good as I imagined. I've been to the YKS in Bridgewater NJ and was impressed by that one. I tried their Tonkatsu ramen, which had no flavor at all. Not impressed. Their service was pretty slow also... The only thing I would say is good is their prices, which are lower than what I'm used to, but that's all. read more

As I walked passed it smelled amazing and the people behind the glass were amazing. They offered us samples until finally they sold us on the meal. The wait is finally over! I had been waiting all summer long for this place to eventually open bc I'm so tired of the food options at the GSP. Yong Kang Street is not your typical mall chinese food stall. They got yummy Taiwanese street foods such as noodles, dumplings, buns, and shumais. The coconut-ey spring rolls here are bomb, so are the chicken curry dumplings. Highly recommend trying a bit of everything. read more
