When I first heard about their aspirations of being a coffeehouse that specialized in Northern Greece cuisine, I was instantly sold. And since then, I've enjoyed the quality service and sense of community that they have brought to the Ardmore area by doing things like partnering with other local businesses, like Mavey Books, to sell their goods. The interior features great table spaces for groups of all sizes, including some comfortable couches, and window seats that overlook Lancaster Ave while you get some work done. The coffee offerings feature all the classics that you'd expect, including rarer offerings like flat whites and cortados. But for me its the speciality drinks like the strawberry cloud matcha and their lavender Levaux Latte that especially deliver a win. For breakfast offerings, it doesn't get much better than phylo dough filled with feta cheese, and you can get that as spanakopita, cheese pie, and bougatsa. But they also have plenty of sweet and vegan pastry options and a Greek bagel. For lunch, there's the best pastrami sandwich that I've had outside of a deli or BBQ joint. But there's also the phenomenal Greek Jawn toast with whipped spicy feta, cucumber, tomato, olives, roasted red peppers, arugula, oregano, olive oil drizzle!

Unfortunately, since the recent staff turnover, the quality and consistency have gone downhill significantly. My drink now seems to taste different almost every time I order it, even though I order the same thing. Instructions aren't consistently followed, and on my most recent visits my latte wasn't even filled to the top of the cup. When you're paying over $8 for a latte, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect the cup to be full and the drink to be made consistently. What has bothered me most is that on occasions when I haven't left a tip at the counter, I've felt like the quality or care put into my drink was noticeably different. I obviously can't say whether that is intentional, but as a customer, I should never leave feeling that way. A tip is optional and should never determine the quality of the product someone has already paid for. I really hope the owner sees this and provides the newer staff with more training on recipes, consistency, customer instructions, and service. I was a loyal customer who truly loved this place and told so many about it, but after repeatedly paying premium prices for inconsistent drinks, I've decided I won't be returning. Sourdough with smoked salmon, tomatoes, cream cheese, red onion, and CAPERS is not the same dish without the salty briny capers. So, big fail. At almost $13 for a single slice of toast without the other items (and not enough smoked salmon to counteract the missing salty aspect) it's sad. On the upside, there were enough red onion chunks to have me breathing onions for several days. The specialty drink I ordered, which is a cold brew with an amaretto foam, was really good. It's a lot of ice and a medium sized drink, so you can gauge the value for the price. It wasn't cheap. I probably wouldn't do it again. But it did taste good. The environment is nice. Old train station, high ceilings, charming atmosphere. Old wood floors, old wood moldings, old ceiling. It does look like the windows have been replaced, but they kept the frames. The space has been upgraded while maintaining the charm. Kudos to the person who did it. Fun to see the trains speeding through the station. This was less than $5 (still getting adjusted to reasonable prices outside of my current city), and it was very good! Seating was throughout the narrow space, from tables and chairs to an old-school station bench which I took advantage of while I savored my beverage. There was also a separate restroom for men and women. From the barren station it was, someone really took this space and gave it new life. I imagine it's packed during the early weekday commute, but when I visited, it was almost peaceful with just a handful of people. Looks as though they haven't been open for very long, so I wish them success and look forward to the next time I can come by again while in town (and waiting for what I still call the R5).
