Great food, great service, excellent scenery, and very clean atmosphere. The menu isn't big but has great options. No alcoholic beverages, but can bring your own. We love this place for special occasions because it certainly is a very special place. Been to a couple weddings here and it's always a great time!

Stopped here last week when on a little leaf viewing.... This place is AWESOME! Old play house and restaurant.... Nostalgic...Place is huge and beautiful inside.... Have a little creek in the back that you can watch while eating your dinner... We had the filet.... The plate was beautiful! They do a great job with presentation..... Taste... It was very good, but not excellent.... Ordered medium but steaks were both overdone... But they were still juicy and still good..... Had dessert as well... The flourless cake... which i thought would be a lava cake... But although again beautifully presented, was just ok... It was more fudge than cake. I will definitely be back to this place for sure! It's great! Just hoping the taste of the food gets a little better... Almost a five, though.

I do not know where to begin. My husband & I married at the Green Gables in May 2023. I have been wanting to write Green Gables & their staff a review since the day after my wedding and I am speechless. It is so hard for me to put into words how much of a wonderful day we had. As anyone planning a wedding knows, there is a lot of hard work and personalization to put into it. Teresa and her staff really put the "cherry on top" of all of my ideas and wishes. I am a tourist to Jennerstown, we are from LV area. Every second I spend at Green Gables, I feel I am home with my family. Highly recommend Green Gables to anyone that wants a secluded, unplugged time whether you are looking for a romantic get away or a family excursion. Green Gables is a great place to settle for a few nights. The views are beautiful inside the restaurant, the outdoor surroundings, even the accommodations. I have been to Green Gables several times and I have not been disappointed once. I will be headed back again in a few weeks and I know I am going to have the "welcome home" I always experience.

Wonderful meal in a very pretty place!

What a great place in very pretty surroundings! Food was delicious and service excellent.

    Easter Buffet

Worst holiday buffet EVER. We go out for three holidays every year...Easter, Mothers Day, and Thanksgiving...and have been for years. We've been to many holiday buffets and this was by far the worst. The sweet potatos were burned and stone cold, the white potatos were bland and over cooked, the veggies were cooked to mush and floating in liquid, the chicken was too dry to eat, the ham was ok for presliced boneless ham. The only thing on the carving station was overcooked lamb. That was all there was other than a couple of salads. The desserts were mediocre...frozen coconut cream pie, dry chocolate bundts, ok plain cheesecake (probably from Sam's Club), and some bizarre mix of mini marshmallows and chocolate pudding. There was one cake with lemon cream that was pretty good. This is the only holiday buffet I ever left hungry. $39 a person and it truly sucked. We should have gone to Dennys or LITERALLY ANYWHERE ELSE.

Since we were already in the area, we decided to visit the Flight 93 Memorial. On the way, while on Route 30 we stopped at the Coal Miner's Diner for lunch. We found the restaurant to be charming and the waiter was friendly and very attentive to our needs, although he was brand new at the job. The menu was generally composed of "Comfort Food" all of which were enticing. Given the schedule we decided to keep the meal simple, Two of us decided to try the Mushrooms and Cheese Hamburger with French Fries, one ordered the special of the day, Stuffed Cabbage Soup and the 4th of the party ordered the Bacon Cheese Burger with Onion Rings. We all found the food to be well prepared an cooked not to mention tasty. In addition they offer interesting pastries. The house specialty is Gob Cakes, a soft, cake-like cookies sandwiched together with a creamy frosting filling. They are available in a variety of flavors, including classic chocolate, vanilla, and peanut butter, the Gob Cakes are a must-try. We came away knowing we will be back next time we are in Jennerstown. When you are in the area you should try the Coal Miner's Diner

In this part of Johnstown, it definitely is a rough area. Parking is either on street or across the street in a gravel parking lot beneath a billboard. If you do park in that lot, do be carful crossing the street as it can be a busy one. Plus there is a slight curve that a driver might not see you while your rush across the street. Once inside you can tell that it lives up to the bar and grill in its name. It has this look inside that gives off this 80s dining vibe. One that calls back to those eateries once found in the mall. You know, those ones where it's almost too dark to see yourself let alone the menu. One where it is very dark wood, heavy on the brick, and all things that make you feel like your in and old time inn. Once settled at a table, we had our menus in hand and were given some time to look them over. Our server came back, took our drink orders and left us for a few more minutes to finalize our decisions considering the menu. Once we decided orders were place and we just waited for our food to come out. It gave us time to look around the place and take in our surroundings. When we first got here, there weren't many people. As we ordered, there were more and more customers that came in. Filling up the tables and making it feel warmer. We were in the midst of conversation and our food came out. I ordered the Franklin Street Bar & Grill Famous Meatloaf. This comes with a slice of the thickest homemade meatloaf I have ever seen. Plopped on top of a pile of mashed potatoes then topped with fried onion rings and smothered in brown gravy. This thing, even though not exactly as described and pictured, was delicious. Not sure if it is fame worthy as I have never heard of it, but hey, I will make sure to remember this when in the area again. To note, entrees are served with your choice of soup, salad, or applesauce, and comes with a homemade dinner roll. The service here is stellar. They all go out of their way to make you feel welcomed and their memory is like a vice grip. One thing you do need to keep on your toes about here, watch your step. With the dimness and small step ups, it would be easy to trip. They do have signs everywhere, but they can be hard to spot if you aren't aware of your surroundings.

For lunch, the sandwiches and soups are amazing! (They also have soup flights!!!) For dinner I always recommend the sou vide chicken. It's the best chicken in town. The ONLY reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is the wait times for food. Food can up to 45-50 minutes to come out of the kitchen when they are really busy. Now, does that impact the experience? Nope! Enjoy the atmosphere while you wait. It's always well worth it.
