We stopped in for a late lunch after a long morning of hiking. I had googled "best sandwich in Stowe" and Green Goddess Cafe was first on the list so we decided to try it. I'm so glad we did! The sandwiches here are unbelievable. We ordered the Cubano and the Pioneer. Both were amazing. We also split a magic bar for dessert, delicious!! I wish I could go back and try every single item on their menu. Worth mentioning is the friendly staff and fast service! Absolutely love this place. read more

I've been here twice. The first time I had the BLAT with tempeh instead of bacon. It was tasty, but teeny teeny tiny for $8. The second time, I had the black bean sweet potato burrito. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't seasoned in any way either and again, WAY too small for $8. My boyfriend ordered the BLAT and it was a much bigger sandwich this time but had only 2 pieces of bacon (lots of lettuce and tomato), so still absurd for $8. We would be thrilled to pay these prices for great food made of local ingredients, but that is not what you get at the Green Goddess. When I asked where the eggs came from, they didn't even know! Embarrassing. Good enough spot for tourists who don't know that they should suck it up and take the drive to Kismet in Montpelier instead. As a local, I wanted this place to be a real green/local/high quality brunch spot in Stowe, but it's quite disappointing. read more

My new favorite place in town! Everything on the menu looked so good that I had a hard time choosing what to get! I picked the caprese panini...and I'm glad I did! It was delicious and you could tell it was made with fresh ingredients. I can't wait to come back and try some of the breakfast options and the fresh juice! The "build-your-own salad" bowl is the way to go here. Cookies are pretty good, too. While the sandwich selection is pretty unique and interesting, I have always found them to be overpriced for the size and flavor -- but this is Stowe, after all. It's worth mentioning that this is one of the few places in the area with true vegetarian foods like tofu and seitan. read more

We drove over to Stowe from Smuggler's Notch JUST to have breakfast here -- and we are so happy we did! The restaurant is charming, a little bit funky, and the staff is warm and welcoming. The food? AWESOME. We had a hard time choosing what to order, and we were so glad we each ordered different things so we could share. I wish I could eat breakfast there every day! Be careful with your timing, though, because they stop serving breakfast at 11:00 .... we just barely made it. Definitely a place we'll go to again! read more

The Green Goddess Cafe is amazing! I am just visiting for the week, so I thought I'd see if I could find a restaurant with some good vegetarian options, and boy did I find it. I asked the woman who was working there what her favorite vegetarian option on the menu was, and she actually suggested the B.L.A.T. sandwich (Bacon Lettuce Avocado Tomato) with their tempeh instead of Bacon. It was so delicious, when I was finished I wish i had another stomach so I could eat more! The tempeh is marinaded and has a really fantastic smoky flavor. I highly recommend this place! read more

The Green Goddess isn't what it use to be... unfortunately! This used to be one of my weekly (sometimes daily) stops on my way to work in the morning, but not anymore. I miss Amy and Anna's smiling faces in the morning and the consistency of the "Real Green Goddess." Although the people the new ownership have working there are nice, no one is ever smiling or giving me the the "Goddess" vibe of old. Other than the setting, it feels more like a New York breakfast spot. Friendly enough, but really just want you in & out. Sad! Also, the food has really gone downhill since the new owners have taken over. The food is inconsistent and the menu has changed. Yesterday (1/7), I stopped there for a "goddess sandwich" (their signature breakfast sandwich) and it came on wheat bread. I know some of you might not think anything of that, but it used to come on locally baked Elmore Mtn focaccia that brought the whole sandwich together. Anyone could make what I paid $10 for. I've also gotten the tofu scramble since the change-over and it was oily and bland. As far as the menu change over goes, it doesn't really represent anything "green." The Green Goddess Cafe is one of my favorite breakfast/lunch restaurants in Vermont. I eat here at least once a week and I generally do not visit most restaurants with regularity. Foods, coffee, tea, fresh juices/smoothies here are made with love and it really shows. The quality and consistency of the food is always excellent and everything is made fresh to order. Green Goddess has great breakfast food, including a fresh take on huevos rancheros more traditional egg sandwiches, muffins, tofu scramble, etc. For lunch, they have a fabulous make-your-own salad option with fresh, flavorful ingredients and a variety of other meat and vegetarian sandwich options. The prices are very reasonable, too (especially for Stowe) and the atmosphere is welcoming. The staff seem to know even the once or twice a year visitors by name. read more

I am a local and will stop at GG frequently for a coffee or fresh juice. Generally, good food and great juices, but a bit pricey. This is definitely more of a "treat" place for me. I really like the coffee, and the Cuban sandwich is a favorite among locals for a reason. Crispy bread, perfectly warm, with gooey cheese and a tangy sauce. My only issue is I eat it way too fast and always am left wanting more! During nice weather it is typically packed and finding a seat is unlikely, unless you are willing to take one of the not-so-comfy (especially with a bad back) counter seats. The people working there seem to love their job and the owner is very friendly. Very pleasant space, good coffee ,great smoothies, and an excellent lunch menu. "Create your own salad" menu is full of great ingredients, and the salads are huge and beautifully put together. Was there Saturday the 28th of September before the breakfast rush. I like the people working there and the ambiance is pleasant. The food, however, was either overdone (my wife's eggs), underdone (my eggs) or dried out (my pancakes). Not good. I will give it one more try to see if it was just a bad day. read more

I had a Terrible experience there over Martin Luther King weekend. After waiting 30 minutes I went up to the counter and asked how my order was coming along. They had forgotten to make my salad and sandwich. I got sick from my Latte, I think they made it with whole milk when I only ordered it because they have almond milk. It is called Green goddess, but they had don't have many vegetarian options and they couldn't tell me any details about the meat. They couldn't even give me a strait answer that the ingredients were organic either, just said they use as fresh of ingredients as possible AKA NOT ORGANIC. Not very "green" if you ask me. read more

We had an appointment in Stowe and was directed to this spot for lunch. It was good. They have he salads served in these large wooden bowls and you can build your own. We saw lots of folks doing that while there. It was to late for a breakfast wrap so I had the pork wrap and it was quite tasty. maybe just a bit on the salty side but not over the top. I hadn't had a smoothie in a long time so I had the mango, peach and banana and it was very refreshing. Their machine is quite loud while making them which makes conversation a bit hard. My wife ordered the Chicken Tarragon Salad sandwich and it was very delicious. We ordered one of their oversized Oatmeal Cookies which we split. We would come again and by the time we left the lunch line was growing by the minute so it was a good thing we got there early. Lots of seating at counter space built around the room and a few tables which filled up quickly. read more

My Favorite in Stowe. Best healthy farm to table selections in town. They have fresh juices smoothies and serve breakfast lunch. I love a place that makes simple delicious food with fresh quality ingredients. Green Goddess definitely does just that. Cute little spot to hang out with a book or a good friend. I went for lunch - had the half sandwich (I went with the Rachael - basically a turkey Reuben) plus side salad. I wanna say it was just under $10. Sammy was delicious and plenty full, the side salad was fresh (with mixed greens and some other fresh veggies - not this iceburg lettuce with some shredded carrots nonsense that some places try to pass off as a salad). I did debate the make-your-own-salad option, but ended up deciding I needed meat (that's what she said), and it cost extra on the salad. Saw a few others' salads, and they are definitely sizable and looked delish... good to know for future reference! Service was friendly (super patient while I went back and forth trying to decide). Place was clean. WIFI is a plus. In conclusion - if you're in the mood for a tasty, fresh sandwich/salad/soup situation, definitely stop in! read more

Best sandwiches in town, in spite of the misleading name. Athena and Tim run a great quick service shop, where you can grab a Cubano sandwich, or one of a dozen others, soup, make your own salad, and coffee or juice for a reasonable price. Stopped In for a quick breakfast. Wife had egg, cheese and sausage on English. She loved it. Said the sausage was amazing. I had a fruit smoothie but it was just okay. Chalk it up to fruit being out of season. Also had a blueberry muffin that was great. Service was great and the staff is extremely welcoming and friendly but not over the top or fake. We headed here before checking out the Ben and Jerry's Factory near Stowe, VT. I think we went at the wrong time. It was really busy with no where to sit, all the coffee and tea were out for at least 20 minutes, and they were out of a lot of important ingredients like avocado that were out. I think they were understaffed that day. The food was pretty good but I wouldn't visit during busy weekend lunch or brunch hours. read more

We had breakfast here this morning. I ordered the Simply Eggs (eggs home fries and toast) and it was $8+.... Seemed a little overpriced for the basics. My husband had a meal-- eggs sausage home fries toast and pancakes. He enjoyed that. Refills for coffee: 99 cents. I was disappointed to have to pay for refills on coffee. Wouldn't serve breakfast despite it being minutes before noon, having "Just switched the kitchen over". While we waited for the other sandwiches there were eggs, pancakes and breakfast sandwiches served to other patrons. We liked this spot - stopped in for lunch on a Friday, no wait at all, not very crowded. The food came quickly. We had a BLAT - tasty, and the Chicken Philly wrap - very tasty, but had lots of oil dripping out of it. Both were on the smaller side - fine for lunch, but not enough if you were really hungry. I am a big fan of this place. We go to Stowe every year and make sure to visit this place. I was sad to learn that they don't serve the granola parfait any longer but everything is so good is wasn't hard to find a replacement breakfast. The focaccia egg sandwich with spinach mushrooms and feta was delicious. The coffee is excellent as is the service. I enjoy the atmosphere and the great wi fi which, I have learned, is not a given in Stowe. I hope Green Goddess is in Stowe for years to come! A nice scenic walk near the river if staying in town (walk off breakfast). For non-meat eaters, this is a must! A very nice selection of healthier breakfast selections with a raw juice bar. Atmosphere is laid-back and inviting. read more
