Fish and Chips - annoyingly served in a bowl??
    Lisa N.

Meh. This is my third time and likely my last. We ordered the cheddar fritters which were very good but the only good thing we ate. We both ordered beers which were good enough. The fish and chips served in a bowl were soggy, I ended up eating the fish out of the batter and left the soggy batter behind. The fries were also soggy bc of the way they decided to plate this dish. The server didn't ask / offer ketchup until we were already half way done eating. I had to ask for an extra plate just to put my ketchup on bc of the bowl format of this dish. (No mention or sight of any malt vinegar either) My bf said the burger was "okay." He wouldn't order it again. Just not worth the $80 bill for me. Disappointed to say the least. Also those metal chairs suck so much! Anyone with a behind finds them uncomfortable.

I came here with a large group on a Friday night. We made a reservation but there weren't many other people there, so we probably would have been fine without it. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. The menu is small. Not a ton of options to choose from. I got the mountain road grain bowl, which was mediocre at best. The chicken was dry and skimpy. The sweet potatoes were cold and hard. The portions were generous (just not the added chicken). I left full but not impressed.

Lots of different beers to try here. Tons of positive energy by the people who work at the brewery.

Came for dinner on a Wednesday evening and had a nice dining experience. Parking in their lot was easy and we were able to walk in and get a table. Workers were all friendly. Inside is large with many different areas to sit in the original area, the bar, outside seating for warmer days and another back area. Inside is cute with a nice atmosphere. The menu has a variety of soups, salads, sandwiches and other entrees. My fork did have a little bit of food debris on it. We ordered the Vermont cheddar fritters and the herb-grilled chicken sandwich. I was starving when I came so this really filed me up! The fritters were crispy and delicious. The crunch and the warm cheese oozing out was the best! The aioli that came with them was delicious, not too spicy. The sandwich was also tasty. The pickles gave a nice crunch and the green goddess dressing was tasty. Overall a nice meal!

Wow. Wow. As you enter the reception area, the ambience is awesome. Plants, large windows, they hit the mark with the flow of the restaurant! I had the French onion soup and it left me wanting more with trying to figure out why it stood out front the rest! The maple syrup Mac and cheese was incredible!

In the center of Stowe with plenty around if you're in town looking for a meal. I came here in the evening, midweek, during the offseason, and there was no wait. The hostess was friendly and quick to seat. The waitress was helpful in making selections and food came out really quick! I was in and out of the place within an hour but 30 minutes of that was relaxing after the meal enjoying a beer. On the food front the soup of the day hit the spot after a wet and rainy hike followed by some wings. The beer was good, I went with the Cloudsplitter IPA. Overall, if you find yourself in Stowe looking for a quick service and great dishes, checkout this spot!

We came here for lunch and were seated outside, which was perfect. It was a beautiful day and we had a nice view of the garden while we ate. The host and our server were both friendly and welcoming. We started with the Vermont Cheddar Fritter because why not when you're in Vermont. It was cheesy with a good kick and a great way to begin the meal. I ordered the steak frites and the steak was cooked perfectly. The maple onion jam added a nice touch and the fries were crispy and delicious. My partner had the Mountain Road Grain Bowl with added chicken. It was fresh, flavorful, and something I'd love to try making at home. Overall we had a great dining experience and would definitely come back.

We got the mac n cheese, flower child black bean burger, brussel sprouts side and a the greek salad to share for two. Great amount of food, we have leftovers! Wide selection of draft and canned beers/ciders. Great atmosphere with dim lighting, perfect for a date night! Very packed parking lot, highly suggest making a reservation online or you will be waiting a while for a table. Service was quick and friendly. Will be coming back!

The flight of draft was generous side pours and represented a diverse range of their options. Staff was very friendly and detail-oriented. The decor is beautiful throughout the several sections. One section was cozy, dark on feel. Another was a large fireplace and vintage style bar and the rest was an open, airy, greenhouse reminiscent dining room. The feed menu is well above average for your typical brewery and had both light and comfort food options. In addition to beer there was a cocktail menu. Definitely worth a visit for both the beer and the food!

Dropped by for a quick lunch. We had Octoberfest and Dunkel, both great beers! Welcoming ambiance, tasty food, and excellent service by Jason.

A large brewery with local beer, flights, burgers, sandwiches and salads. They also have chicken, steak and seafood. It was packed with an hour plus wait so we opted to sit and eat at the bar. Inside and outside seating. Good food and beer!

I ordered takeout from Idletyme and can confirm the food is tasty. Even though our order was takeout and came in to-go boxes, the presentation was beautiful. I combined the asparagus with the mashed potatoes and loved how yummy and soft the potatoes blended with the tender asparagus. The mac and cheese was divineeee. Sadly, the french onion soup was too salty and I could not finish it :(

We came here not expecting a lot (just randomly found this place on the way to Stowe) and I was blown away by the roasted half chicken. It was possibly one of the best chickens I've had. The meat was so perfectly juicy and flavorful! At $29 it's a bit steep but I was definitely not disappointed.

The brewery is on the outskirts of town. It is an attractive facility situated on a large property with picturesque views. It was a beautiful day and they have lots of outdoor activities (corn hole, frisbee golf, etc) so there were people everywhere! This is a family friendly brewery and there were lots of kids running around. What a great vibe! I had a hand pulled Heady Topper. The brewery is the only place on the planet you can get Heady Topper hand pulled. It was worth the trip. My wife had a can of Light. I should note that other than Heady Topper everything comes in a can. No draft options which also means no tasting flights. I found that odd, but I get it. Not a big deal and it won't impact my rating. If you are in the area you might want to check this place out.

I could even see trying to talk mama into driving an hour if I really had a taste for some schnitzel. So rating Von Trapp a high 3 is based on an average evening where you're not sure what you want for dinner. As I've alluded to, it's German themed as it was founded by the family around which the Sound of Music was written. Our server was fantastic. She was the right balance of helpful and fun without dominating our experience. The outdoor patio is dog friendly and it's an overall comfortable environment. Most importantly, the beers were good. We waited about 15 minutes for a table. Not bad at all!! Our server was energetic and accommodating. She cheerfully answered all our questions and honored our request to get a margherita pizza as an appetizer. The aforementioned pizza arrived in no time. It was good. Not the best ever, but still quite solid. The star of the culinary show was the salmon entree. Both my wife and I got it and we both loved it. It was a big piece of wood fired salmon and came with a nice assortment of roasted veggies. I'm talking real veggies--zucchini, broccoli, fingerling potatoes, the works. Neither one of us are big drinkers, but there are LOTS of microbrews on tap if you're into that kind of thing. The dining room was lively without being too noisy. Both of us enjoyed hanging out there. It would be a great place to have a beer and watch baseball on TV. Will definitely return the next time I'm in town.

The poutine was very good, but I'll grant you that it's maybe hard to get that wrong - but their gravy is on point! Service was great - got there around 5:40pm on a Wednesday, so the wait was non-existent and a table for 5 was easy to accommodate. Duncan was the server, who disclosed that he was new but you wouldn't know it from how he took orders and brought food out. Even threw him a curve by asking for the steak frites with an additional side of brussel sprouts, which he handled no problem - even though there weren't any sides I saw on the menu. Steak was medium rare and perfectly seasoned, and I think I mentioned the chimichurri but it deserves additional mention. Maybe you're wondering about beverages. The maple lemonade is great - it leans harder on the tart side and there are sweeter options around (Cliff House) but I love a lemonade that tastes... lemony. Pineapple cherry punch was also a hit - but that's secondhand hearsay, unlike my direct opinion on the chimichurri - which I would drink if I could. Definitely check this place out. The table near ours seemed to immensely enjoy their meal and also get great service from Duncan.

High quality cuts smoked to perfection. We had an order of every meat they offer and they were all just as good. That being said, I could go back just for the cornbread w maple butter. We didn't think we'd be able to finish everything but there wasn't a crumb to be found when we were done. As far as service goes, it was as good as I've ever had at a place like this.
