Do not waste the subway fare that it'll take you to get there. I just (literally just) had an interview at Green Key Resources. The experience was a complete waste of time, money and makeup. A few days ago, I came across a listing for Green Key on LinkedIN. They claimed that they had a position open (Assistant to the Managing Director of Green Key) so I applied without thinking too much about it. I got a call literally ten minutes after I applied, so I immediately thought that it was a scam. I set up the interview anyway and checked yelp and glassdoor.com to see if the company was legit. They had a bunch of unsatisfied "customers", sure, but I thought I was applying for a job with the company, not going through them as recruiters, so I figured that I'd at least go to the interview to check them out. This morning I showed up at 475 Park in my Sunday best, all prepared to talk about why I was qualified to be an Assistant at Green Key. I'd spent a good hour researching their company the night before (or at least trying to, because their website is conveniently sparse in the information department). I was a little skeptical, because when I'd spoken to the girl on the phone she said that they had a couple of positions that I looked like I'd be great for, but she said that they were all within Green Key, so I was (again) assuming that I was applying to work at their actual company. First of all, the girl that I spoke to had clearly never been trained in how to conduct an interview, be a recruiter, or work with people. She paid no attention to a word that I said. I currently work as a Marketing Director for a small theatre company. I work part-time (like 5-15 hours a week) and don't make enough to live on there, so I'm applying for full time jobs. I told her that, and she referred to my job as an "internship" for half of the interview. I corrected her, explained the situation, and then she started saying that I wasn't employed at all. I kept waiting for her to ask about the position that I'd applied for (Assistant to the Managing Director) but it soon became obvious that that position didn't exist. The listing that I applied to WAS a scam, just a way to get people to submit their resumes to the place. If they have to trick you into working with them, what does that say about them? She asked what field I wanted to work in, and I said Marketing/Public Relations/Social Media. She said that I probably couldn't get a job in that field. I said I was also interested in working in Arts Administration. She said I probably couldn't get a job in that field. I said I was also interested in working in an office environment as an office assistant. She said I probably couldn't get a job in that field. I told her that I've been seriously searching for a job for about two weeks now and I've already gone on several interviews, and she seemed genuinely surprised. Thanks for the vote of confidence. She went on to say that they open and fill positions every day, that she basically has no idea what jobs are available right now, and that there's no guarantee that they'll be able to find placement for me. Near the end of the "interview" I asked if she'd needed anything else from me (I was waiting for her to tell me that I owed them money or something) and she said that she'd eventually need my references. The thing is, she had my references. I included them when I sent her my resume. I told her this, and she turned the paper over and said "Oh, I hadn't even looked at these." She then asked if it would be okay to call my current employers, or if they would be upset to hear that I'm looking for a new job. I explained AGAIN that I work part time on a contract/freelance basis, and that my employers know I'm looking for a job. She then asked for their contact information. It took all of my willpower to keep from rolling my eyes as I pointed out to her that two of my three references were high-level administrators at the companies that I currently do marketing for (their job titles and companies were written right next to their names on the page). To make a long story short: steer clear of Green Key Resources. You'll have better luck just spending a day on Monster or LinkedIN and applying for jobs for yourself. Hell, you'd have better luck just throwing copies of your resume all over the streets of Manhattan. read more

Dealt with justin Stratton and I felt it was a terrible experience. I remember being asked about a yearly salary that I thought would be acceptable. I figured 30,000 and 60,000 was a good number to start. It seemed like to him, it was too high to number. I would like to think an employee should known their self worth and shouldn't feel belittled which is what I felt the experience was for me. I would rather deal with someone else who is more compassionate and understanding. I don't like pushy recruiters. read more

I'm not sure why so many people have bad reviews of this company. I met with a recruiter who felt that I would be better suited with a rep from the temp department. 2 weeks later, a recruiter from the temp department requested me on linked in. She called me a few days later to discuss my work history, what I wanted to do, salary, etc. She mentioned a temp position with a company that I was dying to work for. An hour later she had an interview booked for me for that Friday. She sent me the LinkedIn profiles of the people I was meeting with and really prepped me for the interview. She was extremely helpful and encouraging. I interviewed for the position, and an hour later was offered the job. This recruiter was really helpful, and now I have an amazing opportunity with a great company. I couldn't be happier! read more

I've been using various recruiting agencies over the years and have had a decent experience with GreenKey. Particularly happy with Renee Bell. She is super quick, very personable, and doesn't throw random positions at you. If you have to use an agency, definitely try this one and ask for her. read more

I was referred to Green Key by a friend when they contacted her about a position that she thought I'd be great for. I got in to meet with a recruiter pretty quickly, and was refreshed by how upfront he was about my experience and what he positions he thought I'd be good for. I left feeling really confident that he would work hard to get me placed in a great company. I got an interview for the initial position I'd been interested, and was thrilled. However, it was really difficult to get any kind of feedback or update on the process - I felt like maybe the recruiter completely forgot I'd even interviewed for the position. I didn't get any updates unless I reached out to get them. Since then, I've heard from the recruiter 5 times (over a 5 month period). I'll basically get a phone call about an interview, go on said interview, and then not hear anything until I reach out for updates - and the answer is usually that the job specs have suddenly changed and they're looking for someone completely different. Other than that, I get a few emails here and there for jobs that I am absolutely not interested in (despite our extensive conversations) and are paying less than my current job. This happens in waves, between weeks of complete radio silence. I've worked with other recruiters and staffing agencies and had great experiences. But this one just seems like maybe they're trying to work with as many people as possible so they have a better chance of getting on of their candidates placed in the position. I know that staffing agencies make their money off of filling positions, but I never felt like my recruiter was considering my best interests. I haven't heard from him in a few weeks - not since he told me a company wanted to phone screen me and then responded to confirm a time. Since then I've taken my search elsewhere, and am glad to be working with a recruiter that is committed to finding the best role for me. read more

I met with Regina once and never heard from her again. I reached out 2 more times with an updated resume as I was back on the market for other opportunities, and she never responded to my emails. I saw a couple of postings on LinkedIn by other recruiters at Green Key and when I reached out to inquire, I was told that I should contact Regina since she was my initial recruiter, and that they would pass along my information to her. Complete BS. You're in a professional services industry; the least you can do is respond to an email. It's a terrible feeling to be ignored. Definitely would NOT recommend this company. read more

I started off having a good experience when I initially worked with them last year. However, when I reached out this year for help after leaving my last company, I received absolutely no responses from my recruiter after speaking with her over the phone and sending my resume twice. I was offered event type opportunities last summer but I didn't get any follow up or emails this time around and I was open to a broad range of industries, qualified through my resume highlights. It is clear that they entice people to post false, great reviews, which couldn't be further from the truth in regards to their service or professionalism. In a season of unemployment, I worked closely with David H. who insured me, "no problem, you're great, we'll have you out there in no time." Insistently sent me on multiple interviews to companies that didn't fit my interests or industry goals. When I declined an interview in the financial sector to take an offer from another job, I was met with both snark and clipped annoyance. Cut to 7 months later, where I'm still happily at the job I turned down his interview for, he reached back out to get referrals and would be, "happy to stay in touch!" Exceptionally rude on both a personal and professional level--resonates greatly through the entire agency. read more

I replied with interest and was set up for a interview within a short time frame. Needless to say, I accepted the position I was offered and satisfied with the salary. I gave this place a chance and have been overall disappointed. That said, a friend of mine did have some luck here, so who knows. I apply to "ghost" jobs on Craigslist and then I get phone calls from recruiters. They always interview you and if your hear from them its for temp position (literally work for ONE day). They also don't understand the terminology "temp to perm." That's a temp job that could itself become permanent - NOT 57 temp positions with the hopes of finding a perm position one day. I love when they ask you to pass on their info, like you'd want to go burning your bridges. read more

At first I met with a recruiter for full time who gave me no response whatsoever after promising me a great position which definitely started me off on the wrong foot but about a week later I met with Clare from temp to perm. Clare was professional, clear and made no promise that she wasn't able to keep. She had me employed in 3 whole business days after meeting her. Although the first company I was placed at was the wrong culture fit for me she had me employed at a better company for me in 2 business days. Currently I am on long term temp while I'm able to find something permanent which is AMAZING. She understood I was a hard worker and supported myself and was really able to get me working. I registered with this agency 3 years ago after they contacted me thru the internet. The recruiter told me to follow up in a week and after leaving messages and attempting several times, I never hear a word from the recruiter. They keep calling me every 6 months with the same, same story: there is a 'Potential Job" for you but e-mail us your updated resume with your client list, including your current contacts. I replied: No, I don't think so, I will not share my clients with your agency unless I get the foot on the door with one of your "potential clients." So I think they target people looking for jobs on the internet, especially freelancers or independent consultants to make you believe there is a "potential job" for you but what they are really after is your information (job references) so they can market themselves. read more

I thought I met the best recruiting agency. I met with them a week later I interviewed for an assignment. Got the job. The harassment from the employer was insane, told my recruiter that I was uncomfortable multiple times. They tried to talk me into staying on the assignment until it went perm. The most horrible and demeaning experience in my proff life. Dianna of Green Key contacted me via LinkedIn about a position they have. After signalling interest, I dealt with Hannah to sort things out. I ended up passing. They wanted a super strong Flex/Java person and they wanted to pay hourly. I'd be okay with this, only they'd pay me the exact same salary as I have now, with benefits not kicking in until after a while, and it was for a temporary job. Hello.. We employ contractors and I know we easily pay $200/hour. You want me to work in a top position, pay me a fraction, and pocket the huge difference. That is somewhere between insulting and laughable. I must say though, Hannah was really pleasant to talk to, even after it became clear that they don't currently have anything for me. read more

Honestly, I am really surprised at the bad reviews for this company. I have had nothing but a pleasant experience thus far, But I guess its fair to say that it depends on which recruiter you get. I met with Elisa who sat with me and went over my resume and experience. Literally 2 days later she called me with new positions that she received in to see if I was interested and to send my resume out for them. This guy named Ray is by far the rudest recruiter I have ever seen. First off, he called me from a "No caller ID" and then sent me emails with all CAPS asking me to go meet with him. I felt uncomfortable and of course I didn't reply. A few days later, he called me from a regular phone number and when I asked him what kind of companies/positions he had, he was like I wouldn't contact you and waste our time if what I had is not right for you. Again, the way he approaches people is very aggressive and I almost wanted to hang up on this guy. But we set up a time to meet but later in the day I found out I got a good offer that I want to take, so I emailed him saying I'm no longer interested. You know what he replied? - sure thank you for wasting our time. Excuse me? Is this how you talk to your customer? I have worked with other recruiters very well and this guy is just incredibly irritating. No respect for people. I don't know about other people in this company but this one star is for him definitely. read more

Last Thursday I was contacted by a recruiter named Elizabeth. She received my contact information from another recruiter who works at Green Key. She asked me questions about my resume and after 20 minutes she said she wanted to set up a phone interview for the following week at 2pm to speak to the human resource manager at another office, where I live closer to. I agreed that I would be available at that time. She said she would email me a confirmation email. I never received the email. So this morning, the day of the phone interview, I tried getting in touch with her to make sure that the interview was still going to happen. She called me back and I asked her if the interview was still at 2pm. She said that she doesn't recall telling me that she was setting up an interview. She said she told me that she was going to pass along my resume and if anyone felt I was a fit then they would call me. I told her she never said that to me. She claimed she did and she also said that I was lacking experience. I have 6 years experience as a recruiter, that is not entry level experience. So I asked her again when can I expect a phone interview or how do we set one up. She said that I was misinformed and that there isn't going to be an interview. This was such a waste of my time. She seems to be the one that lacks experience, especially when we went through my resume, she asked me what kind of companies I recruited for the in the past, and she never heard of them, but they are huge and well known. So we got off the phone and that was that. I felt like a slap in the face and I feel like she made a mistake and she was just trying to cover herself. Maybe she forgot to set up an interview and if that is the case she could have just been honest. When we originally spoke she said that I had great experience. Why would she waste both of our times and say she is going to set me up for an interview if I lacked experience? I wouldn't recommend this staffing firm because of this experience. These young kids out of college need to be taught how to create relationships with people and they need to give the customer hope while searching for jobs. Recruiters should be friendly and compassionate not just treat someone like a number. read more
