My experience with the front desk was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. Ashley repeatedly changed her explanation instead of working toward a solution. First, she said I had not provided my insurance information. Then she said I had provided the wrong information. I had already provided all of the necessary insurance information, including a copy of the front and back of my medical insurance card. The confusion appeared to be that my medical and dental coverage are administered by different insurance companies, even though they use the same Member ID and Group Number. Once Ashley allowed me to explain the situation, I clarified that the insurance company had already confirmed their protocol: the provider's office simply needs to call the provider services 1-800 number to verify coverage and obtain any needed information. Despite this, Ashley repeatedly refused to make the call and instead told me, "You do it," more than once. Throughout the interaction, Ashley raised her voice, accused me of interrupting her, and shifted blame rather than trying to resolve the issue. She also refused to provide her last name when I requested it. Ashley initially told me the manager was present while we were speaking. However, when I asked to speak with the manager, she then said the manager was in a meeting. These inconsistent statements caused me to question the accuracy of the information I was being given. Ashley also stated that Alex the manager approved of how she handled the situation. Throughout the interaction, I perceived multiple microaggressions and felt I was not treated with professionalism or respect. Patients should not have to argue with staff to have standard insurance verification procedures followed. I hope management reviews this interaction, provides additional customer service training, and ensures staff follow established insurance verification protocols instead of placing the burden on patients when the insurer has instructed the provider's office to make the verification call. read more

Ok. When i first started w this practice, ALL was well. No complaints but clearly things have gotten progressively worse. Especially w BILLING. They need a new office manager and someone who knows WTH he or she is doing because they will send u a bill without allowing your insurance to pay their part and trust me...if they send you one, DO NOT PAY IT. WAIT until insurance has done their part as their billing practices are terrible and questionable and suspect. Thank me later. Trash the first bill. Will take an act of Congress to get anything back from them. Which is pretty bad and why i shall never return. read more

Going to Green Mount Family Dentistry landed me in the Emergency Room. The ER doctor told me that I got an infection, swollen lymph nodes and possible MRSA exposure. Stay far away from the dentists in this Green Mount location. The dentist that worked on me botched a procedure and staff helping her continued to hold suction incorrectly in my mouth after several pleas that it was uncomfortable and painful. They don't listen to the patient and they need to get better training on their profession and patient customer service. Everyone beware! Highly NOT recommend this dentist office. read more

Their billing is awful! Getting an appointment is awful too. Every appointment we go to, you see multiple charges sent to insurance. I can't tell if the billing department doesn't know what the codes are or if they are just trying for more money. This last bill though never showed up and they sent to collectors. I was there about 2 months ago and was told I had a bill, but they needed to resubmit to insurance. I said that is fine and please send me a bill when they know how much I owe. I never got a bill and they apparently sent a link to my spouse's phone (I don't click on links until I know the person) that wasn't obvious it wasn't a scam. They gave it less than a month and then sent it to collection. They have really gone downhill. Will be calling to cancel my next appointment and having to find someone new. read more

I recently moved to the area from another state. While I had found a new dentist, I unfortunately have a dental emergency that arose several days ago. After calling several providers, Green Mount was able to get me in for a same-day appointment. I am a high-anxiety patient when it comes to dental work and oral pain. Numbing works only to a certain extent, and my oral pain tolerance is very low. My previous dentist and I had been able to work together to establish a plan of care that eased my anxiety and made me comfortable, and I was able to get extensive work done over the period of nearly a decade - multiple fillings, multiple root canals, night guards, etc. Additionally, I worked with my therapist on coping skills. While I can't say I ever enjoyed it, we were at least able to make the experience tolerable and comfortable. When I arrived the Green Mount office, I waited over 30 minutes past my appointment time to get called back. My hygienist was wonderful and pleasant. She took x-rays and checked to see if I was doing okay. All was going well. Then Dr. Littlefield, whos mission statement "I will always be caring and considerate of my patients' needs in order to serve you better. I want to care for your needs and make sure you receive the most beneficial and satisfying care; the kind of care you deserve." came in. I came in with severe pain surrounding a tooth that had fallen out, next to one that had cracked. Both had previously had root canals. I told her I'd been taking 800mg ibuprofen and 1200mg tylenol, yet the pain was still throbbing. She recommended that I have the rest of the broken tooth extracted, and asked if I wanted it done today or if I wanted to schedule it for another time. After stating that I would need nitrous for the procedure, she suggested I come back. Although there were no signs of infection, she told me she'd give me an antibiotic, and to take ibuprofen and tylenol. I then asked Dr. Littlefield for something additional to help with pain, to which she responded, "I don't prescribe anything like that, ibuprofen and tylenol are just as effective." Having never been denied additional pain relief, I asked if it was just something she didn't prescribe, or if it was the whole clinic, to which she answered it was the whole clinic. At this point, she seemed to be getting a little defensive. I then explained (again) that I was following an otc pain relif regien, but it was not effective, hence my scheduling an emergency appointment. I asked why that was her standard, and she replied (yet again) that ibuprofen and tylenol are effective. When I asked what else I could do, she said that if I wanted pain meds I could try finding a different doctor who would give them to me, and promptly left the exam room. I left the office feeling ashamed and embarrassed, like I'd done something wrong. I understand that, as a new patient, Dr. Littlefield wasn't familiar with my history and also understand that narcotic pain medications are not something to be taken lightly, and that doctors need to use discretion when prescribing them. What I don't understand is how someone who claims they'll always be caring and considerate of my (the patient's) needs in order to give me the best care possible, believes that's achieved by being dismissive and, quite frankly, rude in response to a patient's request. That she wouldn't even discuss or consider additional pain relief is something I've never had to deal with from any healthcare provider. Denying relief to a patient in pain is at best poor service, and at worst, cruel. And I do feel in my case it was cruel - since my appointment earlier today, I've been extremely uncomfortable and hurting. I can't even sleep - despite my religious consumption of ibuprofen and tylenol. Dr. Littlefield, if you don't want to prescribe narcotic pain relief to your patients, that's obviously your prerogative. Though I would suggest alerting patients who call your office - especially those seeking EMERGENCY services - of that, as well as working on your bedside manner, and maybe re-wording your bio on your website. I'm a grown, middle-aged woman who's responsibly taken appropriate pain medications throughout numerous dental (and medical) procedures. read more

I made a yelp just to make a review about this place. Do not go to Green Mount Family Dentistry. I went in for a regular cleaning and they used a machine to give a 3D image of my mouth (which they made me pay extra for even though I didn't ask for it) and told me that I needed to get Invisa-line because my teeth weren't as straight as they should be. I had braces growing up and my teeth are already straight. Seemed like they just wanted to get more money out of me. But the worst part was that they told me that I had 9 cavities. I hadn't been to the dentist in a couple of years so I knew it was possible for me to have a couple, but 9 was pretty ridiculous. So instead of going back, I asked for my x-ray and went to another dentist for a second opinion. They told me that I only had 2 cavities looking at the same x-ray. My wife also went to the Green Mount Family Dentistry before we switched dentists and was told she had 15 cavities. Unfortunately we got all of them taken car of there, and still paid a ton with insurance. Which as stated above, probably wasn't the case, but we didn't know at the time. Had to pay a lot more money than we needed to, let alone the fact that its not good to grind into healthy teeth when it is not needed. On her last visit, the doctor who was scheduled to take care of her final few cavities wasn't there, and so the other doctor did it. My wife said that she was rushed, yanked her head around, and then made comments about how rough my wives teeth were. When they tried to make a follow-up appointment, we refused. When we switched dentists, we asked about the problem the previous doctor had mentioned, and our new dentist said that my wife's teeth were perfectly fine. Having recently decided I would not go back to my former dentist I was in the market for a new dentist. I'd heard good things about Green Mount Family Dentistry so I decided to give them a try. My son has gone there for the last year and a half and if he hasn't complained to me about when he goes to the dentist they must be do something right. They were super friendly when I walked in and I was quickly filling out the necessary paperwork so we could get this party started. I was soon led back to my tech's room to begin the fun, and I do have to admit, this was not a bad dentist appointment. Christy quickly got all my teeth x-rayed and started in on cleaning them. A bit of a different touch was they have small TVs that you can watch while they are working on your teeth. I understood my son's question last night when he asked me what I was going to watch during my appointment. Christy is a great dental tech who's been doing her job for 11 years and man does it show. She's very efficient and not to mention didn't make me wince once while that sharp metal object was in my mouth. Once Christy finished up in came the dentist, Amanda Littlefield. She was very personable and took a minute to kind of get to know you before jumping right in. Once she was done with her exam Christy finished up with my fluoride treatment and I was out the door in one hour and ten minutes. Not too shabby seeing I had to get a full round of x-rays done. I wish I could say I'll happily return in 6 months for my next cleaning but I'll be back in about a month to fix a filling that my former dentist did about 8 months ago. I won't be thrilled to be back in a month, but at least I feel my teeth are now in good hands. read more

I recently went here to have my wisdom teeth removed. I forgot everyone's names but the staff was so incredible and did an amazing job and treated me with so much care and respect. I healed amazingly and the anesthesiologist even held my hand because I was so scared lol I am moving to Texas but if I need any dental care I'm definitely coming back here because the staff is that amazing. Watch your bank account around Dr. Nicole Kniffin because she will most definitely try to drain it if given the opportunity. I have been with Green Mount Family Dentistry for many years. The reason I decided to faithfully stay with this dentistry was the professionalism and expertise displayed throughout the years by Dr. Amanda Littlefield. However, when Dr. Nicole Kniffin was hired several years ago Green Mount Family Dentistry took a very huge negative hit. This is VERY evident with the EXTREMELY high personnel turnover rate within their office. Special note: Most of my colleagues have since changed their dentistry because of the unethical antics of Dr. Kniffin. For example: When Dr. Nicole Kniffin was hired and saw me for the very 1st time, she highly recommended full-blown braces be placed on my teeth. This came out of nowhere and I was in utter shock. I have seen dentists since early childhood and EVERY Doctor who has ever observed my teeth have always commented on how nicely spaced my teeth are, so I took the news hard, because I could not understand the sudden change of opinion. Once Dr. Nicole Kniffin left to attend on other patients, her very own hygienist whispered the following into my ear: "I do not know what her problem is today, but you most definitely do NOT need braces". Once I heard this statement coming from a person who I highly respected, I no longer wanted Dr. Nicole Kniffin anywhere near my mouth, so I requested to be seen only by Dr. Amanda Littlefield. This request was granted, and everything was running smoothly until I needed a back tooth removed and an implant procedure completed. Unfortunately, Dr. Nicole Kniffin was the only Doctor who conducts the procedures needed in my case, so I was in a difficult situation. I reluctantly agreed to be seen by Dr. Kniffin, because I really did not have a choice if I wanted to remain with Green Mount Family Dentistry. After our 1st appointment - Dr. Kniffin tried sending me across the river for specialty work (as this Dentistry will ALWAYS try to do) instead of some where local (Illinois) because of an apparent handshake agreement with a surgical dentistry across the river. A practice that is hard for me to understand, because there are several outstanding dentists available in our local area. Again, it is (most likely) a money-making scheme that I did not want to be associated with, so I requested to be seen by a local dentistry (Periodontics of Southern Illinois) which was granted. Everything was moving along fantastic! The professional care received was outstanding and I could not be more pleased. The problem? It seemed like my case was forgotten/lost within the Green Mount Family Dentistry scheduling system, so I called their office and spoke with Lauren who is one of their schedulers. I informed her I was down to 3 weeks before my retirement at which time I would lose my dental insurance and wondered why I have not heard from anyone from her office. Lauren tap danced and came up with one excuse after another, so I repeatedly requested to talk to Dr. Kniffin (a request that was NOT even acknowledged) to no avail. I even apologized several times to Lauren stating that I knew it was not her fault and I realized she was the person stuck in the middle trying to cover for Dr. Kniffin. I will admit that I did lose my cool and threatened a lawsuit if our agreed upon deadline was not met. This threat resulted in receiving an email stating Green Mount Dentistry was withdrawing their care as my dental provider. Yes - you are reading everything correctly. I was dumped after 15 (PLUS) faithful years with this dentistry because I was concerned with the timeliness of my care and questioned the way they conducted business. Note: Sensing something negative might happened, I purposely conducted my phone call on speaker phone within my professional office so my colleagues could bear witness. A decision I am grateful I made, because of the many witnesses I now have if needed with my pending lawsuit against this dentistry. read more

I have had the opportunity to use Green Mount Family Dentistry services for a few months now and can't tell you enough as to how pleased I am with them. The entire staff is wonderful to work with they are friendly and knowledgeable and always have a welcoming smile for you. I personally have found them to be patient, professional and understanding. They have answered all my questions whether it be about treatment, billing or anything else. I can honestly say I would never go anywhere else after finding such a great group of dentist and staff that have made me feel so comfortable. read more

2 stars for the friendly front desk and techs. Missing 3 stars due to the rushed doctors and the wait time of 2-3 weeks to book appointments. Most recently I went in for a visit-overdue for a cleaning and to check on 2 fillings from this location, which were not smooth to the teeth and catch food every time I eat. For some reason the tech thought I was only there for the tooth check and I sat in the chair waiting for the doctor for 30 min. When she finally came in I had to re-explain my issue 3 times and it was almost as if she didn't believe me. Also, when talking to me she stood behind my chair so I had to turn and sit sideways to look at the doc while talking. I was then sent home with no time for the cleaning, even though I explained that I had taken the afternoon off work for the appt. I am finding a new dentist. Personable dentist, gentle. I feel asleep during a BIG cavity filling. The other staff is helpful and friendly from the lady who checked me in to the one who gave me my bill. The dental cleaners are both gentle and friendly. And at the end, they gave me the traditional toothbrush, paste and.... chapstick. Not the cheap chapstick either, the good stuff. The best dentist experiences I've ever had, and I had a lot of work done. read more

After trying to charge me to fix her mistake, I refused and she still tried to charge me an office visit for the appointment. It was unreal and I will never go back!!!! read more

My daughter went to this dentistry with a referral from the orthodontist to have four wisdom teeth removed and that's all. Green Mount Family Dental told her she would need to have 4 teeth filled in order to get the wisdom teeth pulled, although that was not stated on the referral. After receiving a treatment statement listing only two visits (1st visit for 4 fillings listed and the 2nd visit for sedation and wisdom teeth extractions) we ended up being told during the 1st visit that 7 more fillings were required. So I called the office to get an explanation and asked if my daughter could even get her braces without these fillings right now and was told yes she could but it's recommended. How convenient after finding out I was approved for a care credit account to cover the charges. And Keep in mind I never asked if it was recommended. This place is a rip-off that took advantage of my daughter by adding additional charges for procedures that weren't needed but recommended at this time according to the referral. I feel they took advantage of my young daughter because I wasn't available to attend the visit and ask these questions. Now we have 2 different billing statements received on the very same day...one saying we owe $174 out of pocket because they forgot to bill the insurance company at the 1st visit for her cleaning and another showing a $19 credit after realizing their mistake. This place is totally unorganized and money hungry and I will be reporting this to other outlets. read more

Run from this place at all costs. If I could give zero stars I would. We were given the cost for our procedure upfront ($1,421) and was told it would be 1.5-2 hours. After the first hour, the dentist comes out and says the repair is worse than expected and she needed to do a second crown for an additional $990. We opted to wait and they did not do the crown. Three hours and 45 minutes later, we find out our bill went up another $500 dollars due to an extended sedation. My wife says she remembers the dentist going to lunch after she was put under. We paid $92/15 minutes for someone's lunch break. The very next the temporary crown that was already planned for came out. We called the on call number and they said to get some tooth cement from Walgreens and chew on the opposite side. When my wife true to get an appointment to make the repair, they were reluctant to work with her schedule and made it seem like they were doing her a favor by making the repair. It was like going in for an oil change and leaving with a faulty transmission repair. Don't say you weren't warned. read more

I found a new dentist. Without transferring any of my records from either this dentist or my prior out-of-state dentist, the new dentist did an examine. I wish I could say I have perfect teeth, but I don't. Without knowing any of my dental history, he instantly noticed problem areas - the 2 areas I discussed in detail in my original review here (that were gapped too far apart). Unlike these dentists, he did say the gap being too far is a problem - food is more likely to then get caught in there, decay, & cause cavities. He also inspected all my fillings (not just the ones Green Mount did) & found that one of the ones in the gap-issue-area was lose & needed to be redone. He "didn't like" the others that Green Mount had done, but said they were ok for now. He said the ones performed by my much prior (out-of-state) dentist were all done well. So I've had the one, most bad spot, from Green Mount redone now. Because insurance already paid for that filling once (and it had only been less than a year), they would not cover it again. The new dentist felt sorry for me & removed the bad filling & redid it at basically next to nothing for (since I was paying out of pocket). And of all coincidences (sarcasm here), I haven't had any new cavities or need for additional dental work. Seems like in the past 15+ years, the only time I "needed" work was each of my 2 times getting checked out at Green Mount. (My other referenced cavities were from grade school when you first get your permanent teeth & like most kids, don't take care of them like you should. ) The experience here has left me nervous about trusting dentists now. read more

This is not a good dentist they rip you off and they play dirty, They tell you, you owe one thing but when you get the bill in the mail it's 10X more than what you were told you would be paying. DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST!! The office staff is also very rude. I will also be reporting them to the BBB after a non resummation to my insurance company after they said they would be resubmitting it to my insurance after i provided them with the documents they needed for the resubmission, and trying to make me pay the remainder of the balance! read more

I agree with Renee B. I had my first and last appointment. The dentist did not introduce herself or even explain what was going on. She spent less than 2 minutes with me and I felt as though she was criticizing me the whole time. I had to pay in full before I left the office and before they even billed my insurance to see what they would cover. They are out for MONEY and that's all. I am very dissatisfied. read more
