Excellent customer service today. I moved herec2 days ago and was missing the usual weirdo stuff like shower curtain rings, etc. Was asked right away if I needed anything and associate took me all over to gather everything. I was only in there 15 minutes. Cashier called for backup when they got busy, and TWO cashiers showed up. I cannot stress enough how much better experience this was than going to Lowe's/HD. I went in to buy a 5gal gas can. Everyone was helpful. However, a basic plastic one was $85. The associate there was also a bit shocked. I looked it up at Home Depot and it was $25. Same product. Ace has a reputation for having whatever you might need, even if more expensive. I love that about them. But this was sad. Always compare their prices online. Service & selection is great, but value is lacking. read more

What can I say about ACE? First off I'm a hardware store junkie. Does that explain why I love ACE? Hold on a second. I don't just love anything or anyone that quicky. This one grew on me. This is my neighborhood store. I'm an off the beaten path hardware store fan. Back in California, there's one that I love to visit. Its on the way to our every two weekend backpacking trip. If we can't stop it actually made me a bit sad. But I digress. Although tiny hardware stores are packed with goodies to peruse. I love! This one in my neighborhood is not tiny. If I'm not mistaken this is their flag ship store. We're in and out here most weeks. So fast forward to a Pandemic Life. Aside from backpacking, in house dining etc that was taken away from us there is a different animal that sorta replaced things that were taken away. Boredom. Not me. I'm resourceful. It's Adam. He's my person. He's an essential worker. But it's not enough. Hiking locally is not enough. So he finds fault with our house. Unfortunately for him it's new! So what he's left with is enhancing what's there. So we're in and out of this location with a myriad or purchases. A new and improved Traeger, our old one died. Although I suspect someone killed that grill . A Yeti ice box. Oh yeah expensive light bulbs that will work with the Apple ecosystem. New and improved big and bright ass lights. Tools. And me? Seeds and garden stuff. And I'm no Saint. I shop online. But that's a different story/review. The folks here are super helpful. Very accommodating. And they never rush you. They allowed us to exchange a product that otherwise we would've been stuck with it and it was expensive. Their delivery service is great! On time and it feels like your friends are just moving your things for you. I've been back just recently. I have to tell you guys all my garden stuff this year is from them. Btw they have tons of grill stuff. All the Yeti products. I love the accessories that yet offer for their giant tumbler. They have all the products here! Oh btw- are you a fan of the online store called The Grommet? It's like "As seen on TV" with a different focus. They have a little corner here. When you walk in-make a left into the aisle and there it is to your left! The one on one attention here is priceless. There might be more products somewhere else but here I don't have to walk around looking for help. read more

This place is great!! Our shower faucet broke on New Year's Eve and our shower wouldn't shut off. All of the major hardware stores around were closed. We had guests arriving soon and had to shut all the water off in our house. I called Ace and they answered even though they were already closed. I explained the situation we were in and the kind man (whose name I did not catch) took time to see if they had the part we needed. They had one part that he thought would work and even offered to stay late if we could get there soon. What amazing customer service, it truly felt like a small town experience even though we are in a big city. The part worked and we had water for our party. Thank you Ace for saving the day and for hiring such kind and caring people. Please give this guy a raise - he deserves it and we will always be using this Ace Hardware going forward. I walked in needing three items; a screw, a drip irrigation fitting and a sack of lawn fertilizer. The outstanding gentleman who helped me (unfortunately, I don't remember his name) took me to the drip irrigation part, found the screw for me, showed me the lawn fertilizer (even loaded it on a cart for me). They were out-of-stock of Milorganite but he recommended a replacement. The only negative of this visit was the wait to check out - only one cashier. The prices may be higher than big box, but the store is closer to my house and the pleasant shopping experience was certainly worth some sheckles. The Lakewood store (on Kipling Street) is larger and has more stock, but my visit to Green Mountain this time was perfect. read more

Have never had a problem with Ace in the past; small purchases, major purchases, or returns--until today. I brought in about $50 worth of items that had been accumulating in my garage, hanger, and workbench. I planned to return them for a store credit and buy a replacement well pump. I had receipts for everything. The first item was a radon test kit I bought three days ago. The cashier grabbed a receipt and said this is from 2021. A supervisor then came over and said that they have a 90 day return policy. I said that nobody mentioned that when I bought this stuff, can I still get a store credit? She said we can't take any of it (including items that were purchased just this week.) I said "That's it? No returns, no credits, nothing?" She replied, "Some of this stuff is from 2021, we can't take it back." I told her that I have spent thousands of dollars in this store, and her if her reply is F**ck you, we aren't taking anything back, I'll take my business elsewhere, and gathered up my items to leave. It didn't end there! As I was leaving, another cashier said, "Have a nice day!" I stopped and looked at him in disbelief. "What?" he said, "Have a nice day!" All three cashiers laughed as I left the store. I just did a banking review. I have spent tens of thousands of dollars in that store. Time to move on, and I would not recommend anyplace with poor sadistic employees, who would serve a customer who is about to spend more money in their own store. read more

I can't believe I've been wasting my time at The Home Depot 10 miles away when I could have come here. Within 2 minutes of walking around, Dennis came up to me and said "it looks like you're looking for something." I told him I was trying to find a replacement knob for my radiator heater. He guided me to where the knobs were and noted there were probably much better and cheaper options somewhere else in the store. Nice, there's no up-selling. Another employee also chimed in (I didn't catch his name!) which I thought was really sweet. Usually when the first employee starts helping me, I'm officially invisible to everyone else. Teamwork makes the dream work! Also, they have a popcorn machine you can help yourself to-- score! I will never go anywhere else for my home good needs. The customer service is GREAT! I love this store! There's always someone up front who greets me on my way in the door and asks if they can help me with anything. Every time I have gone here, they have been helpful and KNOW what they are talking about. I've been shined on before by the Home Depot guys. None of that at ACE. I've taken a few hard to tackle items to them and have left every time with an acceptable solution to my problem. Most recently, my valve to the hot water line for the washing machine failed. I spent hours running around looking for a new valve when I finally thought to go to ACE. Home Depot's answer... buy this outside faucet bib, you take it home, you take it apart and you see if you can use the parts to fix the old one. Cost: $8.99 + tax for faucet bib and who knows how much in frustration and continued looking if it didn't work. Green Mountain ACE Hardware's answer... let me take your old valve apart for you, clean it up, outfit the stem with new washers, repack it for you and then send you home with a rebuilt valve to install. A big Thank You to Marley for this one! Cost $5.39 and a valve that worked perfectly. Also, and I'm sorry I forgot his name, there's an older guy in the paint department that can match anything. He's matched up paint for me and saved me hours of repainting time. read more

Apparently I should pay extra so they wont be bothered. Taking advantage of the elderly who won't notice? I don't think younger folks like me usually shop there--way too expensive. Green Mountain Ace Hardware has been my go to place for just about everything since I moved to Green Mountain in 1976. Years ago I asked my nephew who lives in Cherry Creek where he had gotten a huge lawn decoration for his yard. He told me the Green Mountain Ace Hardware. He continued that it was the best hardware store in the city. Sometime later I was talking with another friend about GM Ace Hardware, & he said, "Oh, you mean the Walgreens of .hardware stores. They have everything, & they're great." Well, both friends were right. GM Ace has everything, & the people are always so helpful. I'm 80 years old. I always walk into the store with some widget in my hand looking totally lost. I want to know how to fix or replace that widget. Someone in a red vest immediately finds me, shows me where to find what I want, & explains how to install or use the part. I love everybody there. read more

The staff here is incredible. There's always someone available in every department to help out and they're helpful but not pushy. They ask the right questions to get you the right solution. In other hardware stores it can be a struggle to find someone and then when you do it's someone from another department who can do little more than point you to an aisle. That's never the case here. Also the parents of all the teenagers who work here should be proud- nice, polite, helpful kids working registers and loading cars. read more

Each and every time I come into this store I find it impossible to get assistance. I was searching for an item for a good 15-20 mins. I approach a man and say "may I ask you a question" he just stared at me awkwardly and said "uh what's your question". I asked if he could direct me to the location to desired. He just said "isle 22" as he walked away. I spend another 10 mins in said isle with no luck. Finally I find another employee who walked me to it in a different location. Prices are marked up and employees are rude. I try to avoid if I know I can find what I'm looking for else where. I have since been back to pick up a couple items as it's the closest hardware store near me. The customer service is even worse. read more

If this hardware store wasn't so much closer to my house than Home Depot, I doubt I'd ever shop there, beyond the occasional trip for sheer entertainment value. As it is, I stop in at least once a week to grab something. After nearly five years of weekly shopping trips, here are my observations: TLDR: An entertaining flea market masquerading as a hardware store. 1) If you're in a hurry, that's gonna be a problem. In order to check out, you have to run the Candied-Chochski Gauntlet and jump through the Singing Bass Clown's Mouth, then finally bribe the bouncer with half your soul for access to a cash register. 2) The store is filled with more soon-to-be garage sale items than I've ever seen in one place. It's really an overpriced flea market masquerading as a hardware store. They don't have wood, but what they do have is solar powered squirrel spinners. 3) Everything is more expensive than it should be. If you're one of those people who use an app to find out where an item can be purchased cheaper, you're gonna have a bad time. 4) At first I thought the Jason Bournesque ear pieces were a little much, but if you have a question, the walkie talkie system the employees use will allow them to get you legitimate assistance very quickly, from the most qualified person working in the store at that moment. HD should be paying attention. 5) It's a three generation owned franchise, and I'm wondering if Grandma was in charge of purchasing for too long before they took away the car keys...because honestly...it's as if someone binge watched 90's shopping channels and went to town, and thus they've been stuck with cases of fishing pole bbq lighters and closet organizers ever since. 6) With all that said, this Ace is staffed by some really knowledgeable, kind folks. They know they work in a bit of sh!tshow, and will go out of their way to help you navigate the aisles filled with crappery to find the tile float and lag screws you actually came in for. Bonus: They have a membership program that tracks purchases so you don't need to keep receipts, and that gives you cash back rebates...so if you want a better price on that Sham-Wow gift set, you're in luck. read more

I used to love Ace. They have so many great things that you can't find at other stores, particularly in the hardware department. Unfortunately, I will now be boycotting this company. I walked in with my backpack (I commute by motorcycle, so my backpack has all of my personal belongings/work equipment/etc.) and was told by an employee that I had to leave my bag at the counter. I asked them why, and they responded, "Company Policy." He couldn't give me a reason other than that. Trust is a two-way street; if Ace can't trust me with my backpack in their store, at which I have spent thousands of my hard-earned dollars over years, then how can they expect me to trust them with my backpack? Would they take full responsibility if something happened to my backpack and lost my work computer and personal belongings? Sorry Ace, you just lost a long time customer. Ace manager is extremely disrespectful. They serviced a home product to our satisfaction. Took longer than verbalized which is fine. However, when we showed up at 6:58P.M. to pick up the item, they said we are closing. She said it would take longer than 2 minutes to close us out even though Ace closed at 7P.M. Explained to her we borrowed truck to pick up item. She said come back tomorrow, it's a weekend we want to go home. They technically didn't close for 2-minutes. No class. No consideration for our drive time and situation. They were still open. read more

Boycot Boycott Boycott. I went there today for a simple hanger. When I arrived to go in, I was hit with an extreme chemical odor. Not sure if it was fertilizes , pesticides what. I noticed my throat started burning immediately. When I went in the store, all around the counters was buraged with toxins and pesticides and rat poisons. This is uncalled for. What a nice and caring place to shop. My Dad turned 92 today and came in to buy a garbage disposal. He forgot his $5. Coupon at home and went back to get it. When we returned to the store that same day Jeanne noticed the coupon had expired in August but his birthday was today. She took the time to make sure he got his "birthday gift" from Ace. I had a really uncomfortable visit today at this Ace. The "greeter" said I could not have my diaper bag in the store. I also use the bag as a purse so it made things really weird. I had my small kids with me too and I even showed her I couldn't fit anything in there as it had you know.. baby stuff in it, but she wouldn't let up. The friendly staff is knowledgeable in each of their departments and more then willing to help you find a solution to whatever hardware related problem you may have. They seem to take things at a slower pace at ACE compared to the larger box hardware stores and I appreciate that. The low shelves and short isles are homey, not intimidating. Prices may be a little higher but you wouldn't notice if nobody told you and the bargain bins are a great place for starters to pick up a number of quality tools to furnish their toolboxes on the cheap. They carry all of the major brand names in easy to look at displays that encourage you to pick up your potential purchase and hold it before swiping a card. If they were open later I'd give this local ACE five stars. Oh, and next time it snows and you find yourself without a shovel swing by this local hardware store if you're in the area. They often have stockpiles of them that are the last in the western burbs to be raided day of that first, big snow. read more

I was a loyal customer of Green Mountain Ace for 30 years. They were great at standing behind their merchandise and replacing or refunding defective products. This is no longer true, I tried returning a defective product after 90 days from purchase date and was informed their policy for exchange or refund is 60 days and after that time period it wasn't their problem, and that I would have to take it up with the product manufacture. Wonderful store layout, everything you could think of Ace will have. Very friendly staff although on slower days there is a sense of pressure when you are the only one in the store or one of few people, browsing isn't an option here because every two minutes an employee is checking to see if you need help or have what you need, the courtesy is appreciated but my wife and I noticed one of the workers, an older gentleman, who kept following us throughout the store and watching us as if he was worried we would break or steal something. The general atmosphere of that behavior kind of pushes me away from going to this location. read more

Love this store and staff. Even the young people are polite and helpful. Gilbert helped me with a large shopping list. Difficulties with lifting and walking for long periods, so he did a great job. I've shopped here for 25 years, and while prices are a bit higher than big box, the convenience and assistance is well worth it. I do wish the entry to the check out was less maize like, and some of the aisles are too tight. Also hoping the closing times in spring and summer were extended to 9 or 10. read more

I like this Ace. I prefer to go here for hardware stuff over the larger chains. Every time I go, the employees are friendly and helpful. I've had house keys made, they cut a piece of window glass to the dimensions we requested, and we've bought other random things there. The prices may be a little higher, but I think they're still within reason. Their selection can be limited, but they have a lot of stuff in the store so I check here first to see if they have what I want. They offer free popcorn by the service window in the back. read more

Working as a supplier to ACE hardware, i have been to A LOT of home improvement stores both as a customer and a supplier. I visit this ACE as a customer at least once a week and I have to say that the customer service is flawless and the selection is without compare. They invariably have everything I need, in stock. Within 10 seconds of being in the store, you will be asked if you need help. And the person asking, will actually be able to help you! Paul in paints is amazing. He spent 30 minutes mixing different percentages of stains to get a perfect match to a chair I had. He made my 30 hours of building an outdoor table worth it. Now all the chairs and table from three different sources, match perfectly. read more
