Our first visit and most likely the last! Sadly, during lunch time on weekday the wait is at least a 30 min wait despite ordering over the phone ahead of time. I was cursed with rude service from the young cashier who refused to correct their mistakes from taking the wrong order down. To top it off they didn't even have the correct name for the order so it was a process before i suggested to try the phone number used before they can confirm they had an order. When they finally gave us our food it was cold and the salmon skewer was just thrown on the container which looked like it was eaten out of or compromised. The skewer only had 3 pieces when we were told it was four. The flavor of the food was decent at best. The good: -The flavor of the food was decent. -The location has ample parking space. -The manager (sandy) did her best to help out - outdoor seating The bad: -Horrible customer service -Bratty cashier -Long waits during lunch hours -sloppy plating in containers Overall: We will not be giving this location any more of our future patronage or even recommend this location to others. I had the Napa salad and added blackened cajun salmon and it was delicious and very filling. Salmon portion is on the smaller side, but the salad itself is very large. Service was excellent-- Bryan B was such a kind server and understanding of my extremely messy toddler who threw rice on the ground. I had a watermelon martini off the happy hour menu which was a refreshing, although slightly too sweet for my taste, yet a fun summertime cocktail nonetheless. I finished charging at the supercharger and decided to grab some dinner for the family. I usually go to kebob crush in artesia but I didn't want to drive so far. I placed my order via phone. Lamb. Chicken. Filet mignon kebob platter. She didn't give me a time frame and just took my name and number down. It usually takes my other place around 20mins so I aimed for that. When I arrived, I thought I beat the rush. However, the signs for phone and order here lines were a bit confusing. You still go to the same register to pay. Then after that, people just stood around trying to accommodate the 6ft social distancing guidelines. The restraining was SOOO HOT. Almost like a dry sauna. I have to give the people who work there props. It was not a good working environment. After a few people were called for order pick up, it was finally my turn. I love their food , it's comforting for me , but the last few times I've came have been huge misses. Back in August , I ordered a chicken kabob plate . Aside from waiting 45 minutes for our meals , There was salmon in the rice . I have a fish allergy . Maybe they were in a rush to get it to the right temperature because I was waiting there, and ended up cooking it less than what they should've . I don't know . An hour later ... Words cannot describe how awesome The Green Olive is. I've been a my job for 3 months now and I found this place early on. Best place for a good healthy lunch. This place fills you up and the portions are amazing. I've had the a lot of the lunch wraps but hands down the Salmon and Eggplant are my favourites. I'm slowly working down the menu, Sandra is always helpful and I trust her recommendations. The staff is great, friendly and attentive. I always leave happy and with a full belly. Note: This 3-star is only my initial review, as I have only visited twice, but I hope future visits will change this. The first visit was 30 minutes before closing on friday night. Im disgusted. Got a sandwich and cracked down on something hard. I got my tongue jabbed. Spot out sandwich and find a toothpick I almost swallowed. The staff stares at me and says it's to keep the sandwich together. I have literally never eaten a gyro that wasn't "held together" by anything but the paper. On a nice spring /summer day I suggest you head over to the Downey Promenade and enjoy the best Happy Hour in all of Downey. Starting at 3pm you can enjoy juicy fresh Kabob skewers ( Chicken, Filet Mignon, and my favorite Lamb) for $7 each. The drink menu is off the hook with everything from a hibiscus drink that my wife and future fiancé loved. I had a couple glasses of Pinot Noir and I went off the happy Hour menu and ordered off the menu a Spicy fettuccini Alfredo with shrooms. I absolutely love this dish and even though they are Mediterranean and not an italian restaurant I highly recommend it. My son ordered the fettuccini with lamb chops medium and he devoured the dish. The ambiance here is super nice right on the promenade across from Bar Louie and next the Gaucho Grill. You have Cinemark so a movie to sleep off the food and drinks is at your disposal. The service is top notch and the energy in here is very warm and welcoming. They also have live romantic music that starts around 5pm. Whether with friends, Family or a to celebrate a casual birthday as we just did for my Wife you can go wrong with the Olive Restobar at the Downey Promenade.
