Came to Boston for a conference and stayed at the Sheraton. Decided I needed a last minute blowout so I walked into Green Tangerine with the hopes of getting one. They accommodated me instantly! The place was very tidy and smelt AMAZING! I had my blowout done by Felix (Alex) and I have never had a better experience/scalp massage EVER. Keep in mind, I travel a ton and get lots of blowouts while I'm on the road, so this speaks volumes (pun intended). It was also my first time in Boston, so he not only gave me a great blowout but he gave me lots of great restaurant/bar recommendations! Went to one that night, just as great as he said. I have already planned to use him for a wedding I'll attend come April. If you want soft hair with volume, he's your guy. He not only relaxed me with the scalp massage but I left looking way more beautiful than I came in. Stop on in and ask for him, you won't be disappointed! read more

I had an appointment with "the best colorist in the Back Bay". It was not all the that the ratings promised. First, she, Anna Louise had a BIG attitude. Zero personality. Second, whilst she was applying color to me long hair she stopped because the husband of the magazine "Improper Boston" came in for a quick cut. All I listened to was the banter of how numerous people wanted discounts from the mag and how they did not tip well etc......You all know who I am talking about. I was pushed off to Sophie (who is a great person and I think a competent stylist) to complete the color and a blow-out. Anna-Louise walked by as she exited the salon and did not even acknowledge me. I travel all over the world for my work and I have never been treated in such a way. After much thought, I called the salon twice to speak with Ms Louise and no return calls. Really? Are you so important that you can not return a call from a client? I think it a shame that one bad attitude APPLE has to ruin the reputation of your salon. I will take this up with your corporate peeps. The power of the pen is mighty. Just because your last name is RUSK does not mean you can get away with improper service and unprofessionalism! Review is only for gel manicure which I would not recommend to anyone. So first of all the price..$55. That's ridiculous. I mean if it's an incredible service and a really upscale place then fine. This was definitely not. The manicure station is a dingy little table in a back room. The service lasted (no exaggeration) for 15 minutes. If I'm lying $25 for my gel this is all fine, but at $55 it's unacceptable. My technician was rude, the water they gave me had junk floating in it (ew), and here's the kicker, the woman just forgot to put a 3rd coat on my left hand. I absolutely hate confrontation so I just left it, and it chipped the next day. 10/10 would absolutely never return. read more

So I usually go to the Burlington location and always have an amazing experience. I live across the street from the Boston green tangerine and figured i would give it a try. I saw Mary, and had the worst experience. I told her I have eyelash extensions and to be careful around the eyes. She has massive hands and was so rough with my face. She didn't even use the steam machine to open up my pores before doing extractions. Just not a good experience. I left with my face all red. After I paid, the lady at the front desk called to tell me she forgot To charge me an extra $25 for a mask that Mary had used on me. I told her this is so unprofessional and not my problem. Mary should have communicated to the front desk on the extra service. Which mind you Mary didn't even tell me she was doing, nor that it cost extra. All in all worst facial experience. Loved this spa! The front desk staff was so nice and helped me find a great shampoo, and gave me a tour of the facility and were really excited and energetic about it. It's a beautiful,clean and modern spa with a gorgeous ladies locker room that has everything you could want. I saw Leia for a vitamin c facial, which left me feeling, for the first time ever, like I didn't need to wear makeup. My skin looked bright and healthy and she gave me so many tips I would have never known about my skin. She's also a 6th year medical student so she has great information on my skin that no one has ever given me! I also saw Karen for a deep tissue massage and she was wonderful! It was only my second massage ever so she made me feel comfortable and made sure to give me the right pressure I desired. D'onica, was right on. Rude staff. I needed shampoo and conditioner because I was out of town and forgot mine. I walked in, the red head girl at the front desk looked up at me and said nothing. I walked through the store looking at product for at least 10 more minutes. It wasn't until I had one foot out the door did she ask me if I needed help. No "hello" or greetings just "can I help you?" I was ready to spend money but that lack of service lost their salon $$. On a side note: the selection of product IS good, which is the only reason why they got the second star. read more

My review is mainly about Brian because he is just fabulous and everyone should go see him for their hair care needs. I followed him to this salon from his previous location and he does not disappoint. I received a cut and color today and he made me look like a brand new woman. My hair was styled perfectly and there was not a spot of color left on my face or neck (mind you I color my hair black so I find this to be very impressive). The salon itself is very nicely decorated and the staff was extremely nice. I love the variety of products they offer. A thumbs up to the massage chairs when getting your hair washed. I've been a client of this salon for a long time. In the past year or so the atmosphere at Green Tangerine has declined immensely. The manager, Louise, is extremely rude and does not seem to care about the well-being of the employees, clients, or the cleanliness of the salon. Every time I've been in the salon since it's reopen after covid shutdowns the bathrooms have been out of order, and there were cockroaches in the spa. I hope the owners replace the manager and clean this place up. I will not be returning. read more

I started going to Anna Louise at Green Tangerine for my haircut and color about six months ago. Anna has worked wonders to correct color/highlights that were not ashy enough for my hair tone and were turning orange-brassy! She has an incredibly eye for color and cut and will be able to quickly assess how to have your hair looking fantastic. I had tried many hair stylists at other high end salons in Boston before I found Anna, and I do consider myself lucky to have found such a talented hair stylist in Boston. read more

I was staying at the Sheraton for a conference. Needed a gel manicure. I had an appt on Friday, the manicurist was fast, and filed my nails instead of cutting them.... the gel lasted 3 days. I tried this salon for highlights as I needed to get in quickly before a trip. The costs listed on the website clearly listed highlighting as costing between $125 - $200 so I was very surprised to review my bill and see I was charged significantly more than that....an extra $50 for 'toner' (part of the coloring process), and additional $60 to wash & dry the hair post highlights.... I spoke with the manager, and she couldn't have been less concerned; "I'll pass your comments on to headquarters". So my advice would be, if you come here (and I would skip it, there are better places in Boston), be very clear about what you are being charged for before doing anyting......but really, there are much better salons that don't layer up extra charges. read more

Laura Hanafin is a wizard. Her eye for color is outstanding, and her cuts are equally so. She is by far the best stylist I have ever had. My only critique of the salon is that there is one stylist whose speaking voice is untenably loud, such that the whole salon is privy to her portion of her conversations with clients and other stylists. She seems like a nice person but her overall demeanor and loud speaking voice detract from the otherwise very serene and soothing atmosphere. Nevertheless, I am giving the salon at 5 star review because of Laura's outstanding talents (and lovely personality). read more

There are many things I do not know - some important, like, is there a g-d? Others less so - is freekeh the next quinoa? But one thing I've always been sure of is that whenever I flew home to see my folks in IL, my hair would get properly blonded by Jeff at Beauty & Balance, hero of foils and sass. However, roughly three weeks ago the siren song of Naples became impossible to ignore, and the Parents N departed South. Floridians we became. Obviously this is distressing for many reasons, but clearly the most heartbreaking of which is leaving behind the colorist whose deft touch has kissed my locks with golden tones for 14 years - and so began revived my hunt for a place in Boston that uses the same brand of color so I could deliver them exact instructions to them on how not to eff up and make me bleachy, which has happened up here before (cough, Acote, cough). Despite the fact that my hair spends 95% of the time in an unkempt top knot, low key abt color I am not. And as a result of this voyage, I landed at Green Tangerine, a hop/skip/jump from my apt, and weirdly, through the lobby of the Sheraton. The space is airy, bright - and though they have all the right products if you want to drop hella dollars on hair shizz (hello, Oribe moisturizing cream, I love you) - there is something abt it that didn't feel....relaxing, even after spending time in their massaging shampoo chair, I was hyped up, rather than blissed out. Receptionists were perfectly friendly, though they did have be down for the wrong appt type, whatever, easily corrected. The colorist was pleasant, not a chatty Cathy, Janice, I think, was her moniker - and, as a bonus, didn't appear totally offended when I was like - it's not that I don't trust you to do your job...which I have zero idea how to do...but like...here are the colors you need to use, pls for the love of all things holy, take no creative liberty. Was efficient - and actually, the color looks beautiful. As most places in Boston do, GT charges for a blow out if you're just getting color done, a practice that I still find offensive as my hair ends up in a pony appx 30sec after walking out of the salon - I think it's $45-85 just for post-color blowie (lolz), which are hella bones to drop on top of partial foils, which start at $125 and run up to $200 - and if you're going full balayage b/c you're a boss, expect color to cost $185-275 - sooooo, I feel like the least a place could do is have a shampoo person also run a dryer over my hair for 15min. I digress - the man who did the blow out was perfectly nice. It looks decent. But. Not thrilled that they made me do it b/c they needed to "check the color" (which, I get in theory...but in practice I'd rather save the time and money). Cuts are $65-155, roots are $65-110, up-dos are $100+, keratin is "price upon request". I think they also do extensions? If you want to go full-on Donna and Tom treating yo-self, hit a massage ($80-165), facial ($90-220), and nails (mani, $30-50, pedi $50-70). Overall, I feel like I need to let this place warm on me - honestly, the color is spot-on, its convenient, and not crazy pricey for the quality of product they use...but, idk. Something is off. Like a hottie with bad teeth. Though, to be fair, perhaps this initial mistrust is their fault, rather than mine, foolish are they for naming the salon after a fruit known for being more sour than sweet. GT. BAD CUSTOMER SERIVCE! I called to schedule an appointment this morning for a simple wash blow dry and style. I walked into the salon with a pink by Victoria secret hoody biker shorts and nikes. Typical errand attire. I was greeted respectfully by front desk (red head girl) she asked for me to take a seat. (Let's be clear this is not an "urban salon" So the look I received from the stylist was unacceptable. I'm AA this does not mean I shouldn't receive services. My selected stylist was a slim girl with a short blond hair cut. She said my name COMPLETELY WRONG. I assured her my correct name she replied back "I don't think your the person I'm looking for" she proceeds to the front desk asking for "bionica" (once again wrong) the red head corrected her whispered something to her with a nonchalant smerk on her face and pointed to me. The blond pixie looked shocked and asked if I wanted to continue to the back. I completely decline. I asked to cancel the appointment. Funny she had the audacity to ask me why. How foolish. No I didn't receive service from the salon simply by the way I was treated. read more

I had a FANTASTIC experience at Green Tangerine. The receptionist was super; she immediately checked me in & offered me a beverage. And I can't say enough about master stylist Kai Lopes! She is AMAZING! Her knowledge of hair & haircare, especially African-American hair, is on point (my hair is relaxed). The salon also uses great products. My appointment was timely (I didn't spend all day there!) and I walked out feeling like a million bucks! Be warned, it is pricey (especially with a master stylist) but well worth it. Karen was great! She did my wax and right away asked if I was allergic to anything. I liked how she interacted with me and felt she was listening to me. Most important she made me feel comfortable and relaxed. I also appreciate her not wearing heavy perfumes or lotions, never a good feeling when someone is so close to you and smell their cologne or cigarettes from lunch-yuck! She also followed up with asking me if I needed help with salon products since I was perusing before she called me back to the spa room. I was a first timer here and very enjoyable experience. Just wish I had time to get my hair done or a massage. Location is super convenient to walk from the Sheraton hotel. I was greeted as soon as I walked in. I maybe waited 3-4 minutes before I was called back. I called the day before to get an appointment. Overall A+ experience and I used the Yelp check in deal (10% off for first timers). I've had numerous massages at multiple places, but this is my first Boston location. So you can call me inexperienced as far as Boston goes, but I was kinda disappointed. I made an appointment for a 50 minute massage, $120. Most of my massages that run an hour are usually $80-100 dollars, but it is Boston and it is a spa (and the facilities were excellent) so I'm willing to pay more for an excellent massage. Sadly, I was disappointed. My massage therapist was very nice, but she asked me if I wanted to add a $25 dollar facial onto the massage. I figured, why not? Already spending this amount of money, might as well go all out. What I didn't realize is that the time she took to do the facial cut into the time of my massage. So really, I had a 20min facial and a 30min massage. I just wish she would have told me that my $120 massage would be cut shorter by the facial. So basically I ended up paying $140 plus tip, when a 30min massage costs $80 plus the $25, which would be $105 instead. I didn't even think the facial was that good. Every couple of months my friend and I meet in Boston for a massage. Boston is a central meeting place for us with each of us driving over an hour to get there. We decided to try somewhere new for a massage, so Green Tangerine it was. While my friend had a wonderful massage, my therapist, Jeffery, was over an hour late--so I did not have a massage at all. At first he was 15 minutes late, then 30 minutes late, at which point I learned that he hadn't even arrived at the salon. After more than 60 minutes, I was offered a complimentary facial, but instead requested a gift card for the full amount of the massage. While the salon was very apologetic, it was a very disappointing experience; one that will impact me recommending this salon to others. read more

As usual, Mirna is warm, thoughtful, efficient and skilled, and my manicure and pedicure are flawless. So, I think I'll like the spa-salon itself, and look forward to getting a massage there in the future. This is my first time coming to Green Tangerine. I was in Boston from out of town and really needed to get my hair and nails done. I recognized the name from seeing it in CT. First, I got an amazing manicure. Absolutely flawless and relaxing. Then I desperately needed a cut and color update. It was my first time getting ombré and Ashley, my stylist, did an absolutely amazing job! I am so happy with it. She was so knowledgeable about the style and my cut is flawless. First, I go here ONLY for facials and waxing, so I'm not going to comment on the hair or nails part; other than the fact my mother got a basic manicure and it came out fine. After having botched brows for years, I live and die by Mary Frangie, the facialist and waxer who does some of the best brows you've ever seen. My brows grow curly, so if someone waxes them, they will simply disappear. Mary waxes above and below, then takes tiny scissors and cuts off the stray curls and creates a natural arch to my brows. I've been to her for waxing Brazilian bikini, brows, lip, chin and face, and she's extremely professional and empathetic with a bubbly, warm personality. If you're going for a facial, she will gently steer you towards the type that you need and the products that are best for your skin. I choose the deep cleansing facial that comes with pore extractions, plus you also get an arm and hand massage with lotions and serums. This spa is located on the ground floor of The Sheraton hotel in Boston, and besides being located inside the Prudential Center, there's a Starbucks next to it, along with a bar and some cafes. The front desk staff are very nice, and they sell a wide range of salon products if you need something. Mary originally was at Grettacole at the Weston Hotel, and she was so good that I followed her to the new location. If you're having trouble with your skin or brows, or just need a bikini touch up before vacation, PLEASE go see her! read more
