I just recently went to Anita Kurl and received a deva cut and Pintura from Antonio. This is my second time seeing him and I have to say that I am super pleased with the results. When I had first gone to see him 3 months ago, my hair was damaged and unmanageable. He gave me an A-line cut and gave me a conditioning treatment. He set my curls and afterwards made sure that everything was perfect with the cut. I was super pleased. Even though I didn't have an appointment to color my hair, he offered while I was there so I only had to be there once. He picked a wonderful color. This past week when I went, I came in wanting some blonde put in my hair. He was honest and explained to me that since I had a lot of red already, the blonde would look Brassy, which no one wants. He ended up giving me highlights and lowlights by pintura. He washed my hair and set my curls. The aftermath was perfect. I was more pleased this time with my curls. He made sure the cut was perfect after setting the curls too. He was wonderful at explaining to me that now it's getting cooler out that I should use different products for my hair. He explains very well what to use and shows you exactly how to use it. He then explains and shows you how to set your curls after washing. I have learned so much from him about managing my curls because he takes the time to show you exactly what to do I would highly recommend him to anyone who has curly hair. After so many years of not knowing the right way to manage my hair, he has done a wonderful job teaching me and I have now worn curly hair for three straight months without the wanting to straighten it. I've even managed to grow my hair 3 inches in the last three months because of him. He is perfect to helping women grow out their hair! Although when I got there I had to wait about 20 minutes to be seen, I knew the wait was worth it. The salon is a busy place and was pretty packed when I got there, but who doesn't want the best of the best! I would say Antonio is the best hair dresser I have had. Even though I drive 2 1/2 hours to get there, it's so worth it. They always say, "Life is more beautiful once you find the right hairdresser!" And I can honestly say, Antonio has been my lifesaver! My experience was at the LA location, but its the same stylist so I wanted to let others know of my experience. A few years ago I was looking to vamp up my curls after having worn my hair straight for years, and a friend from Chicago (who had gone to Antonio once on vacation) recommended Antonio to me. Unfortunately, I had one of the worst haircut and highlights experience of my life. The first thing I noticed is the name of the salon. Curls Are Fun sounded very childish, so I thought maybe he was only doing kids' hair. But then I saw the prices and said no way. The prices are on par with the most renown salons in Beverly Hills. The service, which I will get to, is not. When I met Antonio at the shop, the arrogance of this self proclaimed "curly hair guru" escalated. He brags a great deal of his expertise, and it is off-putting. And although it seemed like he listened to my needs, he did what he wanted. He cut my hair very uneven and gave me stripe like, orange highlights when I asked for blonde. When I expressed that this experience was not what I expected, he spoke over me, condescended to me, and stood by his less than subpar work. After a long back and forth he told me "fine I'll redo it, but I'm charging you full price". I've never in my life not liked a service and then been told to pay again. Especially at this price point. I felt cheated out of hundreds of dollars and very belittled as a person. I wasn't going to write a review, especially since happened a few years ago, but I had a great hair experience recently and thought it actually wasn't fair to not share this experience. At LAST. 43 years of searching and I have finally found the ONE. Best haircut/color I have EVER had. Antonio is a true, TRUE artist who's understanding of curly hair is beyond anything I have experienced prior. He is a kind soul with infectious energy. He will not try to talk you into anything you don't want to do to your hair yet WILL be frank and honest about what is realistic considering your type of curl, face shape, etc. He is also incredible with color - suggested the "Top Pintura" (highlights) for me and they are so natural looking - gently cover my grey without being a heavy, single process color all around. My overall look had become very "tired" and an appointment with Antonio is exactly what the doctor ordered. Put the spring back in my step! On high recommendations from a friend, who had listened to me bemoan about my hair for many months, I made my first appointment to see Antonio. I didn't know why, but my hair was unruly, frizzy and dry. At the salon, Antonio greeted me with tremendous warmth and put me at ease immediately. He zeroed in on my hair and spoke to me with exceptional interest and remarkable knowledge about its condition and curls. My problem was that my hair was no longer healthy. So the re-education about my hair and it's care, began. After 2 visits with Antonio, a new routine and some great Deva curl products, I can see my hair is coming back to life again. I had the best haircut of my life with Antonio. After years of hair stylists who blow dry my curly hair at the end of the cut because they didn't know how to dry curly hair or didn't want me to see how terrible it looked once it dried curly, Antonio was the total opposite. He gave me a DevaCut and showed me that my last cut was off by 3" from one side to the other and I never even noticed. He fixed that and gave my hair so much life and bounce. My curls have never made me happier to wear down and the ringlets have never been tighter. I will always come back to Antonio! If you have wavy or curly hair, a Deva cut (and products) are a must. Antonio is an expert at his craft, and my unruly hair is always transformed after a visit. He does book up far in advance, and the cuts aren't inexpensive, but I typically go 12 weeks or longer between cuts, which is fantastic. People literally stop me on the street to compliment my hair, and I am a wash and go kind of girl, I spend almost no time styling or primping my hair. I love that the Deva products can be applied in the shower, and Antonio will give you instructions and tips on how to apply for maximum benefit! read more

Are our curls REALLY fun? Truth be told, they can be very temperamental, frizzy, darn right unmanageable, and ornery etc.,BUT, NOT IF THEY ARE CUT AND CARED FOR PROPERLY.
