Our wall of fire and water. I'll hopefully add a better pic later.
    John S.

When it was time to redo our back patio I tried like crazy to find a way to avoid hiring someone, but ultimately decided it was a job for a pro. I just needed to find somebody i could trust. Not so easy for most people, but I was lucky enough to know Ron through coaching his son a few years back. Trust is a funny thing, but sometimes you can just tell. My gut told me Ron could be trusted, and my brain backed that up because it knows where he lives. We just called him and explained we weren't shopping around but we required professional work, professional etiquette, and needed accurate pricing from the start. Ron meet with us and listened to our ideas and floated some of his own. About a week later he sent a drawing of a thing we'd vaguely described and we were sold. I was impressed that he was able to nail it with his first try. Seriously. He took the words "fire", "water", and "wall" and drew exactly what we were thinking. Next we negotiated a contract, which I think went really wel. Ron worked with me until we got a good balance of what we wanted and what we were willing to spend. We went over everything line by line, including options for various details, milestones and associated payments. The lead worker assigned to our project is as meticulous as a person can be. Every joint is perfect. Every surface is exactly level. Every face is plumb and every corner square. Even though I know it ate into the profit, there never seemed to be any pressure to take shortcuts to speed the process. This structure on our patio really is a work of art, and it was built as you would expect an artist to build it. Along the way there were plenty of opportunities for things to break down. Ron was there to work through everything and make sure we were happy. In the end we finished exactlyon budget and the final product is beautiful. I'm not sure I have a picture yet that does our patio justice, but hopefully I have something decent to post. Bottom line... Good guy running a good business.

Great service and wonderful work crew. Very happy with our yard from the planning, to the changes and to the execution.

There were two spots where he said his crew could do the work, but said it would be really easy for me to do in a couple hours to save some money. Which I really appreciated him not up selling me. Then I received the bid the next day. After we went into contract his team showed up and started the work. It was started on Monday and pouring concrete on Saturday. They were great to work with and respected our house. What I especially appreciated was the care they took to ensure nothing around the house was damaged. This was a pleasant experience and I would recommend SK Concrete to anyone for their big or small project.

They also installed footing drain (French drain) on the back retaining wall, backfilled with the usual gravel, crushed stone and covered the outside of the walls with installed paneled stone veneer. They also did the initial former structure demolition, debris hauling and the requested earth moving and other necessary small retaining walls reassembly. It sounds like an easy simple job but, believe me, it got complicated quite soon. Along the construction way, I was able to interact with the crew and bounce ideas and corrections which were followed to my customer satisfaction, resulting in more than a very acceptable final product. When the inevitable, beyond his control, the one odd crew helper misbehavior occurred on the job, this contractor immediately corrected it, got on top of the problem and smoothly and quickly we had no more of an issue here. He also facilitated for me the customer to bring my own tile / stone wall-caps products and installer guys, which ended doing a beautiful job we're very proud of. Pricing fair, not inexpensive. Job done acceptable, with your own (the customer) continuous supervision and being able to stop working crew's irreparable mistakes before they happened, however, the final product came out well built and functional as we imagined and expected, we are grateful for that. Thanks again to Shafiaq and SK Concrete for accepting working on our small home project and for including us in their busy commercial and industrial schedule.

In the process, Adam and team broke the stairs immediately, and reassembled them with screws sticking out and chunks broken remains used to "level" the remaining stairs (photos of all work attached.) While on site, Adam asked for "200-300$" outside of the scope of the signed contract for the same work that would have been done with or without the additional request. Through the phone exchanges and emails regarding these issues Adam was arrogant and dismissive, yet also took blame for the stairs and will not resolve the issue. Adam's team poured our concrete before a heavy rain, but failed to redirect a gutter (as it had originally been before construction) from pouring directly onto the concrete causing a water stain from the pooling water on the fresh concrete. Again, when confronted with this issue and asking for a resolution Adam denied blame and said "wait a year". As of 6/11/26 there has been no reply nor efforts made on behalf of this company to repair any personal property damage nor resurface the concrete stain/ finish the job as fully paid for.
