Great little place hidden in green valley. If you're from around here then this place is known. If you are from Los Angeles it may be off the path. Car and bike driving and riding enthusiasts should know the area as it is in the middle of the San Fran canyon and spunky canyon. Loses for a number of years and revived about a year ago is green valley smoke house. It is a great little bar and restaurant with friendly staff a comfortable dining room and a patio as well. Live music sometimes and catering to bike guys like me but also any patron that wants a cold beer and an excellent meal. Food is great! Fun restaurant and a center of the community in Green Valley. The pulled pork grilled cheese was bomb.

This was the worst restaurant we've ever been to! Let me start by saying, it wasn't busy at all. One other party was there. It took 44 minutes for us to be served! We had to ask for napkins and silverware, which took another 15 minutes to receive. The dumped it all in the middle of the table. We asked for salt and pepper and they said they couldn't find any! The barbecue was dry and tasteless; the coleslaw had no flavor. Everytime we needed something, we had to go find the "server." He acted like he just walked in off the street. This place has been on my bucket list for a while and finally made it. Located in the beautiful little mountain community of Green Valley. They make good BBQ. And they have a decent selection of beers on tap. I had the brisket sandwich with a side of Mac & Cheese and a yummy hazy IPA. All was delicious. Service was good. Quaint little small town restaurant where everybody knows your name! The Smashburger can be loaded up with pulled pork, pickled jalapeños, and bacon. The nickname for this is "The Bear" after one of the owners. This burger is absolutely heavenly! The macaroni and cheese is very creamy with lots of different cheeses, and a little hint of pepper jack cheese with chili peppers finely chopped up to give it a mild zing. It makes you wonder what is that flavor? But, it keeps you wanting to take another bite again and again! Obviously the guy in the above review has no taste buds. The brisket is very tender, along with the pulled pork. All of the barbecue sauces are homemade and so is the ranch dressing! The service is wonderful. Very attentive, always made sure our drinks were full, and checked on us frequently. We went close to closing time, but were never rushed. As usual the service was perfecto, since we were the only guest. lol They never disappoint on service regardless. Every single dinner I've had, since I discovered GVSH has been wonderful. Must admit yesterday not so good. Corn dip and chips lukewarm Brisket was like chewing on leather. First time, ordering the Cole slaw, so tasteless and needs a lot work.Also it's served in a ketchup fluted paper bowl. Also did they change the quantity of servings? Seems like they are smaller on a serving plate they are using now.. Only four small pieces of brisket.salad was nice and fresh. Mac n Cheese came in a small itty bitty dipping bowl? Two spoonfuls and I was scraping the bottom after. The server offered to exchange to tri-tip. I asked for it to go and the slices undercooked when I got home. I thought I heard a cow mooing. lol Companion ordered a deli sandwich which is huge and lots of meat she loved it. The bill with tip 76.00. I also noted the sign to order at bar. Fortunately, that didn't happened with us, the server mentioned it was slow and he'd take order at the table Which was peculiar, until I saw the sign as we were prepared to leave. Now you may think this is weird, but if I have to order at counter and pick up food and drinks, I'm not leaving a generous tip, 10% is sufficient, IMO. Step up your game GVSH and we will be back. What's not to like about this hidden gem. A great stop for a meal while on our motorcycle ride now that The Oaks is gone. Food is excellent and meats are smoked and flavorful, not just disguised with sauce. Service is friendly and Chloe's, our server, was top notch. Ambiance is updated with outdoor tables and a nice outdoor patio underneath 100 year old plus shaded oaks. I can't understand why this place isn't more popular, other than no one knows it's here. One of the business owners was very nice explaining all their history and what they serve on the menu. I'm gonna rate the food from 1 to 10 the coleslaw giving it a 3 l too much pepper in it. Tri-tip a 3.5 the reason it was kind of hard to chew. Mac & cheese 2.5 Too much pepper. My son rates, the Smashburger an 8 Pull pork a 9 Mac & cheese 3 It has too much pepper in it. It's a really great little place off of spunky Canyon Road is the only restaurant in the area I would give it another chance next time Im in the area hope they lighted up on the pepper and also workon Tri tip. read more

It's not setup for large groups for the interior (6+), however they have outdoor patio dining, which will be a big plus for large groups. Definitely a "do again" and will recommend it to others. Just be careful when driving out of the parking lot, there's a blind eastbound curve in the road (blind spot). Great little restaurant! Worth a turn off the main road into Green Valley. Cozy decor, friendly staff. Great food. Unique beverage offerings. Vegan/vegetarian friendly. Check out the menu. What a gem in Green Valley. The food was delicious, we had the pulled pork and the tri tip. Both were the plates and come with really good cornbread and your choice of two sides. The green salad was fresh and filled with so much flavor. The coleslaw was tasty not sweet but a bit of a tangy flavor made it delicious and different. The french fries were also very good. The service we had from Chloe was great. Came by a couple times to make sure everything was good. It has been remodeled so it's nice and fresh inside. We will definitely be back. I can not begin to tell you how incredible these people are who own GV Smokehouse! They went above and beyond for my daughter and her husband's wedding reception! Two weeks before her wedding the original place we had booked closed their doors! She got on the computer and her father called GVS. He explained what had happened to Dylan and they took on the task of taking everything under control! I absolutely believe that everything happens for a reason and that my daughter's reception was supposed to be held here all along!!! Dylan, Bear, Tanya and Tannon went over the top and everyone had an amazing time! Tanya was so easy to work with! She did everything she could to put us all at ease! She listened carefully and with the help of Tannon, they created exactly what my daughter had envisioned. The food was over the top amazing and I can't begin to tell you how beautiful everything turned out! Okay, I went back here with my wife giving them another try. It's been over a year ago since my wife has beer here. Her last time here was about a year ago. We tried to order some Corn Queso but the customer just before us took the last order the waitress mentioned. So we just gave her our order. Waited for a while for her to return back with our drinks, but instead she came back, asking us what we wanted to drink again because she forgot. Then she came back asking us what we ordered again? so I repeated it. Mine was a smash burger with fries and hers was an impossible burger with fries. Once our order came out, mine was fair. But the wife's impossible burger wasn't a impossible burger. After a few bite's she realized that it wasn't. At this time she was done with this place. They mention that the next time she comes in it's on the house, she never came back. Until today over one year later. Now, she was very happy with this place. Service was top notch, very good. We order an appetizer corn queso and chips she order a smash impossible burger with no Tomatoes or onions her side was a salad. I ordered a double smash burger with no tomatoes or onions my side was macaroni and cheese. Our waitress was on the ball never had to ask her for nothing she was always there making sure we were satisfied. She mention the cook, even clean the grill before cooking her food. We took a canyon weekend drive out to this place over the weekend not really knowing what to expect. Its a small place attached to a tiny gas station in a very small mountain town. They have about 6 booths inside and a patio outside. The owner was very welcoming. They have changed their model to a "order at the bar", which is not an issue for us. The menu is interesting in it is a "choose your style, salad, sandwich, or bowl, choose your meat, choose your dressing" model. They also have sides and appetizers. We had the jalepeno poppers which were open face and topped with a sweet honey. Quite good. We did the salads with tritip and jalepeno ranch. The sizes were good as neither of us finished the whole thing and the tritip was very well cooked. Tender with a light smoke. They have boutique sodas from the midwest and seemed to have a decent beer list. Prices werent cheap but are pretty much on par with most bbq places locally. I am not sure if I would go out here specifically to have lunch since its a 30-45 min drive, but if we are passing by I would definitely make the stop due to the good bbq, local feel, and friendly people. read more

Sunday drive for lunch was worth it! We were greeted and seated right away by a friendly lady. The smell of smoked meats called to us in a not so obnoxious way as we sat down. The space is charming, very clean and had great air conditioning. The decoration was simple and really complimented the space. Food had great smoked flavor, I had the og smash burger & it was cooked perfect, meat was still juicy and the bun had a good toast to it, the lettuce and tomato were cold and crisp! Show string fries were crispy and well seasoned. The hot BBQ sauce isn't that spicy and was delicious. Also ordered the smoked chicken sandwich which had great flavor and pairs well with the Mac and cheese. Try the corn queso and chips- really good! Trying new spots to eat is what brought us up here and the food is what will bring us back. Seeing the hikers from the PC trail enjoying the food and conversations was cool too- always fun to find out how the hikes going! ! Stopping by on a Thursday to try the smoked brisket since we were told they sell out fast, lots of hikers through the area getting that protein! Lastly the bathrooms were very clean and well stocked. We were excited to see this place open. Our neighbors raved about the food, so the whole family walked over to go check it out. When we got there it was about 15 minutes before they were scheduled to open. We were simply checking out the hours and the posting on their windows and chatting with each other when a salty waitress burst out the front door and said "can't you read? We don't open for 15 minutes!" We tried to explain we were simply curious about the new business and had no desire to rush their opening time, but she would not hear it. My husband, trying to be polite and give her an option to course correct, asked if they had a take out menu so we could come back when they opened. She gave him a sour look said "No!" And slammed the door shut, locking it behind her. Umm...yikes. I guess everyone has bad days, right? Since there are no take out menus, I tried to look them up online. Their website is lacking. There are no prices and lots of misspelled words. The pictures if the food do them no favors either. They also don't seem to have a rating from the health department yet. Not sure how that could be. We are going to try to give them one more chance (now that we know their hours - lol.) Everyone has bad days, and while it's not professional to be rude to potential customers, we all need grace sometimes. I will update the post if we are ever able to get an order. read more

Our family drove from Quartz Hill to eat at the Green Valley Smokehouse on a Wednesday night and had the best experience! With everything they brought us you could tell that they care about the food they make. The flavors, textures, and end result of their creations spoke to a lot of work perfecting the recipes. We ordered tri tip, pulled pork, and fried pickles, as well as some cheesy biscuits (buns?). I keep thinking about the biscuits that had cheese melted on top and crispy around the bottom. we placed an order two days ahead to have our thanksgiving dinner with my family today and I was really disappointed and dissatisfied with the food presentation. I ordered 3 pounds of tri tip and was given 1.14.3 pounds. I paid 2 pounds of pork and the guy told my husband that he put extra....!!!! not cool! I also paid for 2 pounds of chicken and was given only 1.07.7 pounds. they stole so much!
