O.K. Sam's BBQ..I see you! This isn't just BBQ it is OMG BBQ. I had the Brisket, it was so tender and cut like butter. The flavor was lightly smoked - not over Smokey. They said they smoke it for 6-7 hours then finish it in the oven all night- low and slow! My hubbie had the pulled pork sandwich with pickled onions and coleslaw. Even the fries were awesome. Last week I tried Sam's BBQ.... I heard that they had a nice selection of BBQ and I had to give it a try. My friend and I ordered their Brisket sandwich and it was great. I also had their Mac & cheese and I enjoyed that also. My friend agreed with my evaluation of the sandwich and said he'd be coming back to try some of their other food options. Heard good things about this place. So decided to finally stop by. Ordered the 1/3 rack of pork ribs, texture and tenderness were good but couldn't get passed the over powering flavor of the smoke. Usually happens when cooking with white dirty smoke. The Mac and cheese is just kraft mac and cheese with bacon bits on it. Cole slaw was good. They serve the meal with sandwich bread not toasted or buttered. The service was great. read more

I was craving some bbq ribs today, saw their freeway sign near Castaic. Don't let any wariness about "Truck Stop" food keep you away. It only affected finding a place to park. I got a to-go order of a half rack of pork ribs with coleslaw and baked beans (second side is extra) for a very reasonable price. The service was quick and friendly. They have some indoor seating that looked nice enough, and the place was pretty clean. OMG THESE RIBS ARE WOW! The smoke layer got nice and deep into the meat. The winning feature is the tenderness. Fantastic job. They aren't very saucy, looks like a bit of a dry rub on them, maybe a little brush-on basting that cooked in. Have your favorite sauce on standby, and you'll be good to go. I'm going back with the whole crew next time. I couldn't ask for anything better in a bbq pork rib. Great job Sam's! read more

We drove out from Simi Valley because the photos on the website looked pretty good and the description seemed interesting ("American, Mexican and Middle Eastern", and the photos show some great looking BARBECUE!!! We walk in and our first clue that we should have turned around and walked out was... we could not smell any barbecue!!!! Looking at the menu and seeing only MEXICAN items was another sign that we should have walked out. We asked the woman behind the counter what about the barbecue? She said, "We don't have barbecue anymore." If I wanted Mexican, I would have gone to a Mexican place. We went all the way to THIS place because it was supposed to be barbecue and the Yelp reviews showed as such. This place should be sued for false advertising. We should have gone somewhere else, but we didn't. My wife ordered a grilled cheese which was "ok" and I ordered a hamburger. I made the mistake of ordering the "double" burger. Not that it was bad, it wasn't, just that I was expecting thinner patties. The patties were quite thick which made the burger difficult to finish. It wasn't bad. But we were disappointed because we were expecting barbecue like the photos on the website indicated. Looking at the website and seeing that it was last updated in 2017 was clue #3. Yet the name of the place on the sign, on the menus and on the t-shirt that the staff wears all imply that there is barbecue to be had here. THEY LIE!!!! I've never been to any restaurant (and it barely qualifies as such) whose name is so completely misleading. read more

Bomb.com Saw this place on my FB Foodie page and had to try it! Super nice people. It's a truck stop, with a little cafe and a smoker set up out front. You place your order with the guy doing the meat smoking & go inside to pay. Amazing people watching. Yes it's a truck stop, but I was totally comfortable as a woman, being there alone! Tonight they had, smoked Brisket, smoked Tri Tip and smoked BBQ Pork Ribs. The plates are $12.95 and came with Potato Salad and what seemed like Home Made Baked Beans. It seemed like a pound of meat. Sliced super thin, the Tri Tip and Brisket Both, were delicious! We will definitely be back! read more

I got stuck here in a freeway closure on thanksgiving day. I had the guy sliced me some brisket it looked like a fat roll. I actually said to the guy. I'll just have the ribs like my buddy. And both the owner and my friend were appalled that I didn't like the way his meat looked. Well tim you're a prick anyways. And whoever Bob is if that's your name that owns this place. This barbecue place was so good! My son had the pulled pork sliders which I took a bite and they were so delicious. I had tri-tip plate with potato salad and it was so good. Tried this spot for the first time about a couple weeks ago. Seemed like it was new ownership and that the main menu was going to be Middle Eastern food although they still served Mexican food like before. The owners seemed welcoming. When I began to place my order the chef gave me advice to choose something else but I wasn't interested in what she had offered. I ordered a Torta with steak and a Shawarma wrap sandwich. She did get me excited by wanting full details on what I wanted inside my sandwiches! Out of respect to everyone's menu I always like what's traditional before I start making changes the next time I go back. I said yes to everything she asked. The cool thing about this place is it is a mini market therefore you can shop around while you wait for your food. I decided to buy a couple beers. Unfortunately when I went to pay my tab the gentleman checking me out was not wearing a mask. After tasting the food I was shocked that two elements were missing from the Torta sandwich. She offered beans and avocado, and we even talked about if avocado was an additional price but both were missing. The Shawarma wrap seemed a little small and she made it seem as if it was big. What I believe may have happened is maybe she didn't realize that she didn't have all the ingredients that she needed because there was pickles inside my Shawarma wrap and which I've never had before! I sure do love pickles and I sure do love Shawarma wraps. I don't think that they matched up very well together though. Pickles were never mentioned for the Shawarma wrap. After working in the food industry I have experienced times like these where you are desperate for the right ingredients to accommodate a meal that's on the menu. I should have checked my food before I left but I was in an emergency status with my pet at the vet right across the way. This place is loaded with potential but I would definitely check your food before you leave! Make sure all the ingredients are inside like they mention. read more
