Best thing to do is buy your seafood and bring it home to cook. If you don't feel like cooking, you can eat in the small dining area (only open a few nights a week). If you like a drink to go with dinner, you'll have to settle for soda or tea. I would stay away from the fried options because I don't think they change the oil frequently enough and it always tastes overdone. Broiled is the way to go. The white stuff is nice, but if you are not a regular, you might find yourself waiting a long time... A long, long time. read more

The owner, Wayne green, passed away early this year. I feared that the quality would deteriorate after that. However his son who is an ordained minister took over the business with other family members and they have maintained the stellar quality of food and service. My wife and I love eating at Green's, and we often pick-up some fresh shrimp & fish to cook at home. We are loyal customers. However, we are very disappointed at the lack of concern for others health during this time of Corona-virus outbreak. The last two times we went into the restaurant, not a single employee was wearing a mask. This is how people get infected. The servers wait on dozens a people each day, and if they are asymptomatic, they could infect hundreds of others just by talking to them about their order. Other than staying at home, masks are the most effective way of not spreading the virus. Until masks are being properly worn by their employees, we will unfortunately not be buying anything from Green's. This is very sad for everyone. read more

We just spent the last year in the South Carolina Low Country right along the coast, so we've been leery of trying seafood in the Bristol area. I'm sorry we waited so long because Greene's Seafood is Amazing! We had the fried catfish, oysters, and Alaskan whitefish, and all of it was delicious. I actually wasn't expecting much from the oysters because the color seemed a little brown to me, but they were very flavorful, and the breading was perfectly cooked. They were as good or better than the oysters I was used to. Again, the dark color of the fries threw me off, but they were great too, and finally I've found a place that doesn't over season their fries. We also enjoyed the broccoli and cole slaw. Portions were huge, and we had enough for at least 2 meals or more. We also had the crab cake. I have to admit we had some really high standards to compare to, so it wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was still really good and like others said a very generously sized portion with a lot of quality crab meat. I'm impressed that they have such quality seafood so far from the coast and outside of a large city. We didn't linger in the market, but it looked to have a lot of interesting selection, and I'm intrigued to go back and try some of their salmon dip. We're definitely adding Greene's to our list of favorite restaurants and expect to be back soon. read more

Stopped here when we saw a packed parking lot. Actually, we made a u-turn to go back, and are sure glad we did. The food was AMAZING. The service was good for a busy restaurant, and the food came out piping hot. Portion sizes are big for the platters, and just right for soups and appetizers. We had a bowl of Otster Stew, a crab cake that was over 95% crab meat, fried green tomatoes, and hush puppies. All of it was filling and delicious. After dinner we went and looked at the fresh fish counter and we were amazed at how good everything looked. I 100% recommend this place if a great seafood dinner is wanted. read more

Wow! We were headed somewhere else, saw the packed parking lot and did a u-turn. Amazing! Fresh! Flavors! Husband got the oyster stew and loved it! They said they make 2 soups a week and next week they will have gumbo. We're coming back for that. I had a crab cake and fried green tomatoes. Both, the best I've ever had. They say the crab cake is 98% meat and I believe it. Delicious. Fried green tomatoes, not greedy, simple, good cornmeal coating- excellent! The hush puppies were also the best ever - they look like onion rings. Not greasy at all. I never like hush puppies, but I ate all of them. Be patient, it's worth waiting. Everyone is friendly. After you eat, go admire all the fresh fish for sale. So good! read more

Heard amazing things about this place... A total let down... The food was cold... And gross... The worst part was THE SERVICE!!! She was the worst waitress I've ever had in a restaurant!!! She was rude as hell and literally walked off when I was trying to order my meal!! When I went to pay she spent 5 minutes telling me how she hated her job and how her old job at the Angry Italian was way better and how she wanted to go back there... I wasted $50 eating her with my GF and will never go back!! As a matter of fact if someone says you should eat here RUN THE OTHER WAY!!!!! When I got home I got really sick from the food... This place was awesome!!!!!! I was in the area helping my friend move and I had a taste for seafood. Well look no further as this is the best place to go. The service was very fast and friendly. My friend ordered the shrimp and he had no complaints whatsoever. I ordered a two piece fish meal and I scarfed it down. Check this place out. Just get there a little before lunch as the place was crowded. From what I understand sometimes there is a line out the door. I would wait you will not regret it. read more

The food at Greene's is always delicious, with very ample portions. EXCEPT for today. They make awesome coleslaw and previously there was a lot of it in their servings. NOW - the portion was so small it was hardly there; maybe only 1/3 of previous amounts. Don't keep it hidden, please!! read more

Doesn't matter what your friends or family say about this place, save yourself the trouble. They don't clean their shrimp, crab, clams, or soft shells properly and above the food; I got charged $3 because my boyfriend gave me ONE of his popcorn shrimps to TRY. How is that any of their business? Called us "assholes" when we tried to speak with them about the free. My French fries were burnt, tried to eat some that weren't burnt and left bad taste in my mouth. They have went up on prices, but also cut portions. Fish was dried out and tasted old. No way fish was fresh.. Came from Kingsport and not worth it. Have ate there a lot and have recommended them, not anymore. read more

I ate here on Oct 3rd while on a business trip. What a wonderful find and just good ole home seafood cooking. I don't know why some of the reviews are so negative other than they are just uneducated on eating at a fish market with a restaurant in it. They should go to Captain D's or Red Lobster, not a real seafood place like Greene's. read more

We found this restaurant while in town for a wedding. We had 6 adults and everyone got something a little different. Everything was very tasty and cooked to order. The owner was frequently on the floor talking with customers and ensuring everyone was satisfied. We went early thinking we'd beat the crowd but even then, the place was packed. We had to sit at 2 separate tables but we decided to do that rather than wait for a larger table to open up. Definitely worth it and we'd go again if happen to be in the area again. read more

They only had one waitress and she was good but overwhelmedtrying to keep up with everyone. So don't be in a rush. They also close at 2pm on Monday. We had the Alaskan whitefish platter, the fried clam appetizer and the seafood platter with a little of everything. The seafood platter was 22 bucks and you really do not get as much as ive gotten other places. Whitefish lunch special 7.99 was good and good portion. This was incredible food! Greene's is a no frills kinda place and when you walk in you feel like you just walked into a friends home for a meal. Friendly staff all around, from our server to Anthony, the "cook". He made us feel like we had known him for years, although this was our first visit. He was super accommodating for my husbands Gluten free needs. He also took the time to bring out a blue crab and a soft shell crab for our kids to see and learn about. The food was amazing. I ordered crab legs and was so impressed. They were probably the best I have ever laid my mouth to. I have paid big bucks in fancy establishments for subpar crab legs. These were better than any I have ever had. On our way home, my four year old asked when we could go back! We will be back, and hopefully often. read more

Good quality seafood. Seems comparable to what you'd get on the coast - quite a surprise to find in the middle of Appalachia. Had the oyster dinner which was breaded and fried perfectly, not too much batter and oil as many places have nowadays. The slaw was also good, not too much mayo or sugar. If this place was on the Gulf Coast maybe it would only get four stars but basically anywhere else in the country it deserves a five in my opinion. read more
