We did a steamer pot this weekend and was told by friends to try out Greens in Bristol. So my wife called ahead and they had what we wanted. My wife drove 45 minutes to Bristol and we bought top neck clams and oysters in the shell. I have to say they were both very fresh and the quality/flavor was outstanding. The service was great and they even carried them to the vehicle for my wife. My wife said the staff was very courteous and knowledgeable. We are already planning another seafood feast and you can bet we will be buying from Greens. read more

I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a long time. Finally, my children took me here for my birthday. First, they take reservations, this is a plus. Everything we tried was excellent. The food was fresh and cooked to perfection. The prices are reasonable and the portions are large. One of our party ordered a crab cake sandwich, and it was the biggest crab cake that I have seen. The staff is friendly and are sure to check on your table. I think all of the wait staff came to our table throughout the meal. The chef/cook also came out to make sure the food was satisfactory. If you like fresh seafood, this place is a go to place. I highly recommend Greene's if you want fresh seafood. The restaurant is hometown diner style, nothing fancy. It's like eating at home. Fresh uncooked seafood is also available for purchase. One amazing thing to note: there was no fishy smell although there is a large showcase of fresh seafood. My hubby and I went today to pick up some fresh seafood. We asked about King crab legs, Jeff-- the man behind the fish counter--let us choose our own based on our price range. We also got scallops and extra jumbo shrimp. Hubby says it was the best scallops he's ever had and The crab was perfect after I made a seafood boil with all the yummy spices. We came in with lots of questions and we got tons of answers, Jeff even gave us a deal on our seafood and we left happy and he got a tip. Friendly and wonderful/ knowledgeable people there if you come in with a respectful attitude for what they're trying to do in Bristol. I am happy this is the first Yelp review I'm writing. Originally from Boston, I was visiting my family in September (they've lived in Bristol since 84). I mentioned I wanted to try catfish as I'd never had it and my sister brought me, a friend and my father to Greene's for lunch. Honest to God, the calamari was among the best I've ever had (I lived in Sicily for a while), my sister had fried clams that made my mouth water, my dad had the blackene tilapia which looked amazing and Marylou had the fried oysters and wouldn't share. My first time having catfish lived up to everything I'd hoped - I couldn't believe how delicious it was (especially coming from New England). The young blonde waitress was a delight and the restaurant was exceptionally clean and well distanced, the fish market was as fresh as any I've ever seen. From now on whenever I go back to Bristol, I'm going there at least once a visit. Only thing I'd suggest is if a pickle piece gets caught in the tartar sauce bottle's spout, take the lid off, don't just squeeze (a lot) harder. read more

Wow! What a great meal. Just looked on Yelp for a restaurant not too far off of I-81. Chose Greene's and all our food was delicious. My husband is a huge seafood fan and said the fried oysters were about the best he's ever had (and he's eaten plenty!). My catfish was great. Even the baked potato and hush puppies were notable. While traveling across the state we 'Yelped' Bristol, VA for restaurants. OMGosh, what a find! Anthony Eastridge, the chef at Green's Seafood market was over the top in delivering amazing seafood (we ordered the shrimp, some grilled tuna and an oyster basket). He brought out the tuna steak for my approval before preparing it, then handmade a remoulade sauce and brought it to the table just because he thought we'd like it as an extra. I must say. I was skeptical about eating at a Seafood restaurant in Bristol Va. But i was amazed. First off, we gad a great server/cook that was doing both that day. Shrimp appetizer was amazing. Lightly battered popcorn shrimp and you got an overflowing plate fir 3.99. I had the Alaskan white fish dinner. Not greasy and wonderfully battered snd fried. It was perfect. Fabulous! Not a place that had ever caught my eye before, but I'm SO glad we went and will definitely be back. Excellent selection, delicious food with fast service, and so friendly! The place was super kid-friendly- they brought free hush puppies to occupy our two little ones while we waited, and the chef delivered Blow Pops to the table discreetly for us to give them when they finished eating, at our discretion. So nice! Hush puppies were to-die for, and we loved everything else- especially the catfish nuggets and grouper fingers. Fabulous really. This is not a fine dining fancy restaurant. It's an old fashioned moderately priced fish house that serves coleslaw and hush puppies with their entrees. That said, they do this really well. They obviously take a lot of pride in both the cleanliness of their restaurant and quality of their food. We had crab legs, big perfectly cooked, very fresh. Best alaskan crab legs I've ever had. The fried fish was excellent and not too heavy. Everything was very fresh. Our group was quite impressed. We would have come a second night ( yes it's that good) but passed due to lack of mask wearing by employees. It's August of 2021 and we are in an area where more than half the population is still not vaccinated. While this might deter tourists, it doesn't seem to be hurting their business as they had a full house on a weekday. The only picky complaint I had was the buttery veggie spread served on my otherwise perfectly cooked and steamy baked potato. Real butter would be of higher quality, at least the sour cream was real. In hindsight I probably could have asked for real butter. Bottom line, once this pandemic lifts or the area gets over 70% vaccinated we will be back - and stay in this fun and interesting area two nights so we can enjoy Greene's twice :) read more

For a seafood market it's unbelievable- I wish we had a giant cooler! But the crab cakes were amazing and their advertisement of 98% crabmeat was no exaggeration at all. Delicious! And the fried green tomato with the light cornmeal crust was spot to n (although they were not local tomatoes yet since its still pretty early) and the fried jump shrimp were perfectly cooked (not over cooked /dry but moist and plump). The key lime pie was too gelatin-ish for me but for the area and not being close the seafood was super fresh. Although we didn't get any this trip I can recommend his oysters too! A must stop on your trip to the Tri-Cities area. read more

I attempted to eat at this restaurant with my family at 6:30 pm. The restaurant closes at 8. We were told there were no tables for 6 available. A family of 4 sitting at a 6 top table overheard this and generously switched to a 4 top table. We sit down and 10 minutes later were rudely told that no one could serve us as they close their kitchen at 7:30 and were asked to leave. This establishment was extremely rude and I will never visit again read more

This is the best place to purchase fresh seafood in the region without driving to the coast yourself! They have a great selection! These folks KNOW SEAFOOD and what to get, when, and where it's from. They also have some good prepared items and frozen specialties, like snow crab legs or seaweed salad. Really good accommodating staff. I know they supply restaurants too and this place is clean as a whistle. I wish they had a better location, or a second one! I drive from Abingdon (second home) and it's always worth it. I love this place, when I get to go. It is about a 40 minute drive, but well worth it. The lunch specials are wonderful. Some of the best fried oysters I have ever had outside of the coast. The wife and I stopped by on our way back from the DC area headed home to Huntsville, AL. We did our due diligence on researching places to eat in-route. We stopped at Greene's Seafood because we enjoy fried green (no relation) tomatoes and, of course, seafood. After the fried green tomato appetizer, the wife had fried shrimp and I had the seafood platter. It was all delicious. This day they closed at 2pm as is the usual. We got 2 hours down the road when I realized I had left my cap (not a cheap one) on the chair at our table. We called the next day to see if they had the cap. "Yes, I have it right here", was the reply. We then arranged to mail a suitable shipping box to the restaurant for return. We mailed it on a Monday and received the package with the cap by Friday. I enjoy doing business with good people. We will be stopping here again on our next trip. read more

The freshest fish you can get since the restaurant is part of a wonderful fish market. Great soups, fresh oysters, fried fish that is not greasy and specials that reflect what is in season.
