What a great place for bagels!!! It's like being in the heart of New York City eating my bagels. Super friendly staff, very popular place, busy and they're only open till 2:00 pm. So get there early and indulge in their amazing tasty bagel sandwiches!!! I'll be back tomorrow!!! Thumbs up

"Please clean your table" My advice: hire a kid at $10ph during peak times to handle this instead of asking your customers paying 80% markup on a piece of bread to work for you. Food's okayish.

Bacon egg and cheese in a poppy seed bagel

Solid choice for a NY/NJ styled bagel! The dough, itself, was favorable and soft and when toasted, a perfect crisp. We tried both the bacon egg and cheese and a bagel (everything toasted with veggie cream cheese). I will note, however, there is quite too much salt in the everything bagel seasoning. It takes away from the flavor of the bagel. Either was just an unlucky batch, or is needing a modification in the process of making the seasoning. Honestly would have rated a 5 if it wasn't too salty. The cream cheese, however, melts in your mouth when toasted. A fun touch of texture from the veggies.

Gluten free onion bagel with Turkey cranberry

Tried a gluten friendly onion bagel sandwich. Cannot remember the name but it had turkey cranberry lettuce tomato mayo. Good portion and comes with a side. I tried the sweet cucumbers. I appreciate that they offer gluten friendly options (they did mention cross contamination is possible) and also showed me the ingredients on paper prior to ordering to make sure I was okay with it not being totally gluten free. The bagel held its shape and was not dry and crumbly for being gluten free. I do wish it was steamed but not sure if that's an option here. Not the best but it was alright. They were very busy so it must be a good lunch spot.

Always fun to be traveling and find some familiar food! The bagels at Greenfield's do taste like home in NYC. We had two bagels, one with scallion cream cheese and one with vegetable cream cheese and a pastrami sandwich on a bagel. You order up front and they bring it to your table when it's ready. Lots of seating inside and several picnic tables out front. Busy morning, so we waited about 10-15 minutes, not bad. The bagels were excellent, mine had that nice outer crust and that great chew on the inside I loved the shaker of everything bagel seasoning on the table!

Bagel was small and the sausage patty was even smaller. It was ok. Tried a few years ago and has not changed.

Delicious bagels with proper chewiness. A little slow, but worth the wait. Always grab at least one breakfast here when in town.

This place doesn't disappoint. I had forgotten they change the menu 3 times a day based on the fresh ingredients they have on hand. We were seated on the terrace by the door, which was less than desirable but still good. The chair I was in was awfully uncomfortable, but the benches were suitable. For food, we ordered the crispy Brussels sprouts, Earl Grey tea bread, chicken tamales, berry French toast, mushroom bruschetta and fried oysters. The Brussels were good and perfectly cooked. The Earl Grey tea bread was good, but too sweet for me (not a sweets person). My friends ordered the chicken tamales and berry French toast, respectively, and enjoyed their meal. For me, the menu didn't have anything that caught my eye, so I made a meal of the small plates. I love mushrooms, but I felt that the mushrooms in the bruschetta needed to be chopped. Their meaty texture and large pieces made it less than desirable, even though the flavor was good. The oysters were well-cooked and served in an ample portion, but with cocktail sauce rather than aioli. When asked, she brought me the paprika aioli that's on the Brussels sprouts. Still, I think a lemon-and-herb aioli or a lemon-and-horseradish aioli would have been more appropriate for a fresh brightness to cut through the breading. It was almost a good meal, but oftentimes the devil is in the details.

Menu was very interested and not your standard breakfast place menu. I was a little suspect because of the poor customer service reviews but all food ones were good. Our friend called in for a call in reservation and we were seated with in 5 minutes eventhough the restaurant was packed. The server came to the table to take our drink order, came back with our drinks and took our food order. The food order came out fast. The "works" omlet and a side order of French Toast. The only thing missing from the "works" was the kitchen sink. Cheese, onions, sausage, tomatos and mushrooms and their fired, cubed potatoes were amazing. The French/Texas toast was great. Everything was perfect and service was great. We'll be back.

They sat me down in a corner and no one wanted to wait on me.. I have no idea who my waitress should have been. After 10+ minutes of waiting, the person who seated me asked if I had been helped, I said no, so then he took my order, but I don't think that was his job. On the menu, the regular drinks like orange juice, didn't show a price. This seemed strange to me; I am pretty used to being charged for an OJ, but it was my first time here so I asked if this was included in the meal (that would have been a nice surprise). He said no. I asked if it was free, and he said no, it costs money. I asked how do I know how much it costs, because there was absolutely NO price anywhere on either side for the cost of orange juice. He said it's a hidden charge that they will charge in their computer system...... That's bullshit at a fundamental level! I asked how much, he quoted me a price without checking the computer, but how do I know? It's not listed on the menu. Is that the price for the small OJ or a large? How do I know? How can I make sure they're not overcharging me? That's the whole point of a MENU, to list what they sell and for how much, so you can decide without having to waste the waiters time asking the price of each item. I really don't like this! I should of listened to my inner voice that said just walk away now. Foolisly, the only reason I stayed was because of the recommendation by my colleagues. Needless to say, I didn't get an OJ because I had no way of verifying the price. I ordered a water. I would have enjoyed an orange juice with my breakfast. Maybe I should have ordered it and then told them I'll pay the price on the menu.... After about another 10+ minutes of waiting, no water was brought out. Then a lady came out and asked if I had been helped, I said yes but I don't think it was his job to take my order, so she said she would look into it and brought out a water a few minutes later. The sad part was, the place was not very busy.... Just a slow Tuesday around 10am. When the food finally came out by ANOTHER waitress who I never saw before, I was a little sad because the toast was loaded with way too much butter. The menu didn't say anything about butter, nor did the waiter... I scraped off as much as I could, but the damage had already been done. Dam, am I responsible for telling them everything I don't want on toast that could possibly be put on toast? The bacon was okay tasting but overly salty. The eggs were the opposite, pretty bland without any salt. What they did add to the eggs appeared to be finely chopped scallions. I don't enjoy the taste of scallions on my scrambled eggs. It's a bad combination for me. The fruit was okay, but a very small portion. Overall a lackluster tasting breakfast, very poor service, and the menu that I fundamentally disagree with. For these reasons I give it the lowest rating possible. I am thankful I tried it so I could see what my colleagues were talking about, but now I know. I probably won't return ever again to any first watch.

The cafe is to the left upon entry and the bakery and display is to the right, and what a display!…read moreA Greenville staple for over 75 years, they moved to this location in 2002 and have been named by Southern Living Magazine as the #4 best bakery in the South. The old adage that "we first eat with our eyes" is on full display here; pictures cannot do it full justice. And the smells of the bakery and cafe add to the sensory experience. The bakery side infuses flavors in their treats with flavors wash technique (typically on unbaked products and based on egg and cream mixture) that ensures moist and tender cakes or pastries. One example, for the forthcoming Kentucky Derby they had a cake washed with mint and bourbon that included a mint layer of icing and a bourbon based layer of icing inside the cake to achieve a "mint julep" cake. Of several items we purchased, mostly the cake part is standard white cake with flavor added and very nicely decorated. If one were to judge just on taste, it's essentially a good white cake, the "wow" comes from the decoration and somewhat the flavors. Heavy on the icing. But that is the decadence many want, and it looks great. I had the key lime pound cake and it was good, but a lighter example compared to Granny's (my Granny), so that's an unfair comparison, but it was lighter than anticipated and Granny's isn't the only pound cake I've had. The key lime was more subtle than the visual and mostly came from the glaze. The visual was so good, I asked if we could buy by the slice and the staff agreed to slice up a full cake for my slice and since they were getting low on pre-sliced available pound cake options. My wife loved it all! They do have take and bake casseroles and the cafe side has great sandwiches, an admirable Reuben if I remember. We must come here more often as it is very good and convenient and Granny took here recipe to the grave years ago, (RIP).

Really good food that we enjoyed thoroughly. Very interesting menu-fusion of many cuisines featuring many ingredients that found their way into places one would not expect. With happy results! I had the salmon moussaka. The salmon was delicious-slightly blackened. Great quality salmon. Paired nicely with the lovely tzatziki and accompanied by salad heavy with toasted garbanzos and mucho quinoa, 'cukes, endive-heavy greens and a spot on bright dressing. Sister had black bean burger on dressed bun that was accompanied by perfectly prepared steak fries with house made ketchup that had a slight heat to it. Really good as well. Kitchen staff nailed the preparation and everything came out perfectly. First meal out in Greenville (as we cook). I could not have been more pleased. Great value for the price. Certainly not inexpensive, but not outrageous. I will definitely be "stealing" this moussaka dish and presentation for my wife the minute I return home! Menu is in transition per our wait person, and one interesting dish was not available. And a croquette dish had been substituted the croquettes for a latke-like pancake (I presume)-not a croquette.
