Love love love the bagels here. I believe they are the best in Greenville and will die on this very specific hill. They are always served piping hot and fresh. The pastrami has sooo much flavor. I crave them like crazy and you can't beat the prices. The workers are kind, quick, and efficient. Coffee cake is good. Cookies are great (wasn't a fan of the black and white one, but it's a cakey cookie and I don't like those --so I'm counting that as a personal problem.) love the local scenes on the walls. My daughter and I loved the bagels! These are traditional kosher bagels and are so good! Just as good as what you would get in NYC or NJ. The service was great. There was a long line but it went fast and the cashier was super helpful. The restaurant was clean and though it was crowded we were able to fine a table pretty easily. The prices were super affordable. We also bought 2 additional bagels to bring back to our hotel and some cinnamon raiser cream cheese which was awesome. I highly recommend! read more

Horrible service. Paid for a sandwich and never received it. I was second in line and then 4 or 5 came in after me. Guy in front of me received his sandwich , ate it, and left. Four or five people behind me received their meal. I told the cashier not to prepare it and left. Been there for breakfast for years. First time for lunch. Last time for anything. Solid choice for a NY/NJ styled bagel! The dough, itself, was favorable and soft and when toasted, a perfect crisp. We tried both the bacon egg and cheese and a bagel (everything toasted with veggie cream cheese). I will note, however, there is quite too much salt in the everything bagel seasoning. It takes away from the flavor of the bagel. Either was just an unlucky batch, or is needing a modification in the process of making the seasoning. Honestly would have rated a 5 if it wasn't too salty. The cream cheese, however, melts in your mouth when toasted. A fun touch of texture from the veggies. read more

Tried a gluten friendly onion bagel sandwich. Cannot remember the name but it had turkey cranberry lettuce tomato mayo. Good portion and comes with a side. I tried the sweet cucumbers. I appreciate that they offer gluten friendly options (they did mention cross contamination is possible) and also showed me the ingredients on paper prior to ordering to make sure I was okay with it not being totally gluten free. The bagel held its shape and was not dry and crumbly for being gluten free. I do wish it was steamed but not sure if that's an option here. Not the best but it was alright. Always fun to be traveling and find some familiar food! The bagels at Greenfield's do taste like home in NYC. We had two bagels, one with scallion cream cheese and one with vegetable cream cheese and a pastrami sandwich on a bagel. You order up front and they bring it to your table when it's ready. Lots of seating inside and several picnic tables out front. Busy morning, so we waited about 10-15 minutes, not bad. This is an excellent, scratch kitchen bagel and deli shop. I had not been here in a while and stumbled my way in on a Tuesday afternoon lunch. Seating is limited for a large lunch crowd. The method is to queue up along the wall in an aisle leading to the cash register/counter. TV displays face the queue so that you can be ready with your choices at the counter. The line moves, but it moves a little slowly. Prices are adjusted for credit (higher) or a cash discount is applied if paying cash. I specifically wanted to revisit their Reuben/Rachel sandwich and in this case, I chose the Rachel. Hot corned beef, coleslaw, Russian dressing on marble rye (other choices of rye are available) toasted and served with a pickle spear and a half of a small, spicy pickled tomato. Both served well to cut the richness of the sandwich as a good combination. The sandwich passed the first critical steps, it was warm and the bottom slice of bread was not soggy. Often, the Reuben is served after having sat at the counter under a heat lamp for just enough time to keep the sandwich warm, the top crispy, but to allow the bottom to "sweat" and that is just deadly to an otherwise good sandwich. The review - this was a very good Reuben option. Maybe even a contender for the best in the house. The post for best in the house was formerly occupied by The Cafe at Wilson's Hardware up in Travelers Rest, before they closed and handed the crown down to Bacon Brothers, before they closed. I have tried Reuben's in Powdersville, Stax on Orchard Parkway and Empire Deli, but all three fell victim to the dreaded soggy bottom. McAlister's Deli has a decent option, even Arby's will scratch the itch. On the slate are Hall Of Fame Sports Bar. Strossners is decent. Hans and Franz is decent. But there has not been a home run replacement yet. I would put this sandwich in contention for the showcase showdown, however. The meat could have been more evenly spread across the sandwich in avoidance of the mid-sandwich bulge. Meat portion was flavorful and adequate amount. Could have used more slaw. The bread tasted like it had been either toasted in a toaster or a toaster oven rather than toasted in a pan, ala grilled cheese style, which is always a greasy pleasurable characteristic of the crowned sandwich. Bottom line, I will line this one up in the top five showdown. read more

So for me this is a no. I didn't eat any of the food but the visual was enough for me for a first visit. The way the bagels are covered seemed gross the whole back is opened and people who work there are coming and going back and forth. I watched one guy cough in the Cook area. So many people touch the bagel toasting station and shove bagels back and then do other things either their gloves. I watch one girl with gloves touch the counter go to a different section for a pick up and then come back after passing off food to a customer to making my friend's bagel without changing her gloves. This whole place seems so unsanitary for my taste which is a big no for me. I bed the food is great but I cannot get past the visual. read more

I'm from New York. I came here because the reviews were raving about how it tastes like fresh New York bagels. I'm sorry, but to compare this to New York is a total joke. My wife and I both got the sausage breakfast sandwich. The egg patty was the yellow patty that comes from the freezer. The sausage...not much different than dunkin if I'm being honest. We really enjoyed our lunch at Greenfield's today. In all honesty, our main purpose in visiting here was to try out the chicken salad. My wife is a chicken salad enthusiast and has been checking out the options found in the various grocery stores in the area since we moved here several weeks ago. While she's found a few good options, we decided to branch out to some area delis in our search. We're really glad to have tried Greenfield's! Amy had a chicken salad sandwich (of course) on an Everything bagel, while I had a Ruben sandwich on marbled rye. Both were really good. The bagel that Amy's sandwich came on had a great texture that was chewy without being tough. Not the kind of bagel that you have to work to tear off a bite. My Ruben was filled with perfectly tender and tasty corned beef, an equal amount of sauerkraut, and a topping of Russian dressing that set everything off. Just terrific with the great marbled rye! I did see a post talking about higher prices than other places in the area... I can't say that is wrong, given how new we are to the area. I would say that we were pleasantly surprised by the prices, based on what we are used to. My $11 sandwich would have been $15-16 back home (Milwaukee-area). Before we left, we grabbed a couple more bagels for tomorrow morning's breakfast - and a half-pound of the chicken salad. Yes! The chicken salad passed the Amy test with flying colors! We have been huge fans of Greenfields for years, but lately I have been disappointed. We usually get the Nova special on Sundays and the past 2 times the salmon has been sad. Not thin slices, but bits and chunks of salmon that are unpalatable. Today, some of it was inedible because of very tough sinew or muscle or something. I would consider ordering almost anything else, but not the salmon. read more
