Well I finally tried this small 'Japanese' hibachi restaurant. It's clean inside with friendly staff. They were pretty quick at getting my order ready as I did a highly recommended order online for pickup. There is also a small indoor dining area if you'd like. So now to the food .... I'd say I agree they REALLY need to have some sauce or flavoring. The chicken and beef had more pepper than sauce if that says anything and that was minimal. The chicken and the beef hibachi were good but I could fire this up at home and it would taste better than this honestly plain chicken breast and steak. The steak was low quality but I expected that for the awesome price . Very, VERY minimal veggies. The zucchini is very thinly sliced and I'd say it had 4 pieces chopped in quarters max on my plate. The togo container is the typical size of 1 big (rice area) and 2 small side areas (meat and veggies) if that tells you what to expect. The pricing is good though for what you get. Now the Chinese dish (general tso's) was excellently done. Plenty of sauce and plenty of meat so that's confusing when comparing to Japanese dishes. How have I never been here before?? We ordered two hibachi meals - teriyaki chicken and teriyaki beef and were very happy with the taste, service and experience picking up a to-go order. The food is flavorful, you can add or modify the vegetables you want and it was ready in no time. This seems to be a favorite for locals - it was really busy on a Saturday night and I saw some people eating sushi, which looked good even though I am not much of a seafood fan. I think that's definitely a specialty based on how many people were ordering it. This is going to be my new go-to take out spot for sure. read more

Red Sun has been a staple for me since I moved to Indiana in 2016. Nothing fancy, but super quality food. I had the General Tso's lunch special. The best that I've had in a very long time. Great flavor, perfect crunch to the chicken. The Bento Boxes looked amazing. I happened to stumble on Red Sun purely by mistake coming home from my new job. I decided to stop and check it out since my husband was out of town, and I didn't want to cook just for myself. I walked in and found a stack of menus, so it made my selection that much easier. They have a good assortment of food and sushi. I ordered the chicken hibachi with brown rice and an order of shrimp tempura rolls. Wow, everything was really good! The sushi was fresh as well! The people are very kind, warm and welcoming and very patient for newcomers lol. The food is very flavorful and delicious not greasy and made fresh. The only thing that I complain about is for $25 I would imagine having enough for leftovers which is sadly not the case here but the food is very delicious and so the staff is very welcoming. I've had Red Sun recommended by so many people, I think maybe I had too high of expectations. Nothing necessarily bad about the place - it's fine. But I don't know if I'd go out of my way for it. I also thought this was more of a sit down restaurant, but it's quick service style -- order at the counter, get your drink, and someone brings your food to you at your table. I really enjoyed this spot. I've been 3 times in one week. The food is flavored well. The price is reasonable. The service is good. I've had the sushi (Miami and Tiger), the imperial hibachi (beef, chicken, shrimp, brown rice and veggies, and the beef and brown rice. Gyoza was delicious also. All of it was good. I was looking for a sit down lunch spot, and I was lucky enough to find Red Sun. I was expecting your normal Chinese food restaurant, but this was a great surprise! They have sushi, bento boxes, and several other options. I had the General Tso's lunch special and spring rolls. It comes with your choice of white or brown rice and broccoli. Everything was so fresh and HOT! The general's sauce was perfect. I really enjoyed it. The service was great. Both girls that helped me were prompt, attentive, and kind. My vegetarian husband and I went here for dinner on the advice of my coworker and we brought along a non-vegetarian friend. It is the type of restaurant where you order at the counter and then they bring you your food. They also have hibachi entrees, but do not make the food in front of you (they make it in the back and then bring it out). It was a fun experience as we tried a lot of different menu items for a fairly inexpensive price - we tried the vegetable soba, vegetable hibachi, the spring rolls, the vegetable tempura, the sweet potatoes tempura roll, and the Japanese donuts. Of all of the menu items we tried, the vegetable soba was preferred by both my husband and I. Next time, that is what we both plan to order. I wanted this to be good. The sushi roll was pretty good. We ordered 2 chicken hibachi, 2 salads, and a sushi roll. Our hibachi had no flavor, no sauce, no nothing. It was plain chicken and plain white rice. From all the pictures we've seen this should not have been how it was served. Disappointing to say the least. The ginger dressing was ginger water and ended up on the bottom of the container. Too liquidy to cling to any lettuce leaf.
