I want to preface my review by saying I ordered carry out from this restaurant, so take that with what you want. I also want to preface it by saying that I have dined at many Asian/Japanese restaurants before, so am well aware of typical flavors and what to expect. Picture a plate of chicken katsu curry, rice, and soup. Now imagine that everything tastes like fish. Not like a faint taste- imagine you dumped fish oil on your food and served it on a plate. Thats what my meal tasted like. The curry was gritty, and the rice was plopped into a container. The service at the restaurant wasn't much better. No greeting when walking in. I asked to place a carry out- after looking for a bit, I placed it. "Okay we got it." "How long will it be" ...other person behind the counter..."thirty minutes." Okay, I'll wait in my car for a bit- might as well not wait in the small waiting area for thirty minutes. I'm in my car for fifteen minutes...come back inside, and my food on the counter...Wow, fifteen minutes over estimation. Overall, inedible food and poor customer service. Am not interested in returning to try again at this time. read more

Used to come to this restaurant under its previous name and enjoyed very much. I was worried about the quality of the food with the change but I have not been disappointed. The food is as good or better and new expanded sushi offerings. I am partial to ramen and the variety is amazing. Everything I have ordered has been wonderful even the bonus spring roll or soup offered with the lunch special. The restaurant is clean, the staff is friendly, and you often seen a good deal of diversity in the patrons. If you like ramen you need to try this place. We'd heard good reviews on this restaurant but really didn't know it was there as we don't ever drive down that street even though we are quite often on County Line Road near the mall. I'm glad we did find out about it as we had dinner there last night. We had a reservation just to be sure we got a seat as it's a small dining room and got seated right away. It's a cozy little place and the menu looked amazing. There were so many choices. The server was friendly and efficient. We started with pork gyoza dumplings to share. They were hot and delicious. I ordered mild pork miso ramen and it look amazing and tasted so good. We'll definitely return and want to try their lunch menu. We've heard it's very good. read more

A friend had suggested we try KISSATEN for the first time. Like always, checked the YELP reviews and they were positive. Wow! This city has so so many little gems hidden within its neighborhoods, and KISSATEN IS ONE OF THOSE JEWELS. They offer a wide variety of Japanese Asian fusion dishes. Staff were very welcoming and helpful in menu suggestions. The restaurant is a small cozy and immaculate space but sufficiently roomy. We ordered pork gyoza dumplings that were served steaming hot and larger than most. They were very flavorful. I ordered a bowl of Pho Tai which was one of the best I have had. My wife had the Miso Ramen which was so very well flavored. The portions are huge and the price is very economical. My first impression was just how fresh the ingredients were in the dishes. We were both happy we found this place from a suggestion. We were both be back frequently. read more

Why three stars? Easy going place. I had the chicken pho. It's made in beef broth. I didn't think it was bad but nothing exceptional. Wanted more chicken but I read too late (it's a 3 usd extra charge). Service could be better BUT she was new and as such demure. My husband was looking for some ramen and a quick Yelp search brought us here. Tucked into a corner of a strip plaza and near a couple of ethic grocery stores and a run down looking vape shop I wasn't sure we were going to enjoy this place but we've found you really never know so we went for it. The interior is small and cozy and nothing fancy. We arrived at 2pm on a Friday for a late lunch. Luckily their lunch menu runs until 2:30 so I was able to order off of it. My husband ordered a pork ramen dish off of the regular menu that he hadn't had before where the broth came separately. He enjoyed it but wished it was server hotter than it was. I don't recall the name of it. I ordered the lunch version of the pad Thai, medium heat with chicken. It came with mushroom Tom yum soup and a spring roll. All for $10! Being a restaurant that served what looked like a variety of foods I wasn't sure what to expect of their pad thai but I'm not a fan of ramen and didn't feel like fried rice or general Tso, or pho. The mushroom soup that came with my lunch was a bowl of complex flavors. When you got a mushroom in a bite it was the main flavor, a bite of just broth was rich and savory, a bite with cilantro morphed the flavor yet again... and be ready for some heat, it packed a bit of punch. Now for the pad Thai.. the star of the show... yum! Thinner noodles than I usually see for pad thai, it was a little different eating experience however the flavor was there. At first I thought they missed the heat level and I got mild but after the heat from the soup wore off I realized that it also had some heat, although less than the soup brought to the tongue. While most places I've had pad thai use chili flakes or oil, they use peppers which I eventually saw a few pieces of. The portion was what I'm used to seeing for dinner at other places and then the added soup and spring roll, I took a small box home. They didn't skimp on peanuts, which I loved. My husband agreed that while his ramen was good, he really liked the pad thai better and said I won in the meal choice today. The fried spring roll that came with it was a nice crunchy addition to the meal but just your average roll. If we find ourselves back in the area again during meal time I would visit again. read more

The tonkotsu broth had a lot of flavor and the noodles held up well. The miso broth was pretty mediocre, and a bit salty for both myself and my dining partner. One thing that absolutely didn't make sense was that one of my dining partners (true gluten allergy) asked for rice noodles in her ramen and they said they "couldn't do that" -- which makes absolutely no sense to me at all considering they have rice noodles to make the pho... The photo of the tonkotsu doesn't include pork, because I asked for fish balls instead of meat :) The only reason I'm giving this place a 4 star is because of the tonkotsu broth which had great flavor! This place is so delicious and the servings are ample and the price is right! The kids split the chicken chow mein, ordered with no veggies because the kids are super picky! They ate this right up and also the chicken egg rolls. The pork gyoza and chicken egg rolls were the perfect starters! Wife had the General Tsos, which I've had for lunch in the past, so perfect flavor and a tiny bit of spice. White meat chicken and not stringy or cheap cuts. My spicy miso ramen was flavorful and silky. The egg was cooked perfect and the pork was tender and melts in your mouth. This is a must place to be a regular go to! The value was outstanding. My shoyu ramen was simple. No bells or whistles on this dish. I've had great shoyu with mushrooms and other vegetables, this was not that! Service was okay. The noodles held up well. It had a nice sear, but still had the soft dumpling. So good. I got the Miso Ramen for my main, but was on the fence of wanting the spicy version. The waitress offered to bring me the chili oil on the side so I could customize it to my taste. I definitely recommend trying the ramen. Major flavors right here! Everything we have ever had from Kissaten has been right on point. We've had takeout at least 10 times in the last year. This past Saturday we treated ourselves and the grandkids and dined in. The inside is very clean and minimally designed. A tv played soft music. We were greeted warmly and the young woman who took care of us was very sweet and attentive. The bowls of ramen were huge and steamy and made us swoon with their amazing aroma. In addition to lovey chewy ramen noodles, there was a variety of little delights that made every bite delicious and different. My grandson said the salmon was cooked perfectly. The portions are large enough to satisfy a big appetite. Leftovers warm up beautifully so you can enjoy a sweet reminder the next day. *insert happy face here* read more

I was starving and I looked up any food near me. This ramen place was tucked into a line of small businesses and it had a good ambiance to it. There were some tvs playing gospel music in Japanese I believe which was interesting but didn't distract from the DELICIOUS food. I got the spicy miso ramen with extra meat. The meat was soft and tender, the noodles tasted like they were hand made and the broth was full of flavor. My boyfriend also finished his plate and finished off the remaining sauce with his rice he said he was happy and content. A new Asian spot? Of course i'll have to check this out. It's located in a small strip mall behind Thai Spice. The place is nice enough and the staff is very friendly and accommodating, unfortunately easily confused. Hopefully they will work out the kinks soon, because it just wasn't hte greatest dining experience quite honestly. Very refreshing on a hot day. for an appetizer I ordered the chicken skins. I wondered why they listed those as boneless as I have never experienced bony skin. Come to find out that this dish is more or less chicken nuggets with dipping sauce. They are tasty, but rather unexpected. This does explain the boneless remark though. My friend ordered an omelet type appetizer and that was not only pretty to look at, but also very tasy. My guests also declared the dumplings as worthwhile. I had ordered the Singapore noodles and was quite disappointed. the chicken consisted of tiny little pieces that were most cerainly leftover from somewhere and the whole dish was rather tasteless. I assume I got the mild version, not that anybody had asked how spicy I would like it. And the noodles were in tiny pieces, almost like they scraped out what is in the bottom of the bag, the crumbs. Another one of my guests tried the salmon, but didn't like it at all. She sent it back and ordered the Singapore noodles also before I could stop her. At least they must have opened another bag of noodles, because hers looked like actual noodles and not the crumbs on my plate. The only entree that was truly devoured was the ramen. I was so thrilled to see a Japanese restaurant/cafe in this area when I moved here. I went in during Covid, when it was take-out only. I was surprised to see so many "basic" menu items (kung pao chicken, etc.) that were more mainstream Chinese, but if it widens their customer base good for them! I would like to go back when it's safe to dine inside. Their dinner menu offers more authentic dishes that you can't get elsewhere. I wish the dinner menu could be found online. It was our first time trying Kissaten and we were very impressed. We ordered the Garlic Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen and added the pork dumplings. The service was super fast and friendly. Plus the broth was sooo flavorful and delicious. The ramen comes with a starter of fried rice which was great as well.
