Was there on Fathers' Day for brunch. While the parking lot and entrance are unimpressive, the outdoor seating area is very pleasant. We were lead to a table near the band. I asked to be seated at the very empty back of the area but was abruptly told that wasn't possible. A few minutes later they seated a party there. The music was nice but too loud for pleasant conversation. I later asked the same young woman why it was impossible to seat us as I requested and was told they've landed the reserved seating assignments in advance. Another young woman chimed in that it was because of staff considerations (which made no sense since they immediately seated a party there just after my request). The food is creative and pretty tasty, service was good after an initial wait. We would have liked to talk without raising our voices but couldn't. Overall it is a pleasant place but the inflexibilty in seating makes you feel like the customers' positive experience is not their first priority. My son was there the week before and they would only seat him in the bar though the outdoor space was very empty. So ours was not an isolated incident. We both kicked off with some drinks, my mermaid margarita was amazing and the only thing that would make it better would be some edible glitter. The poutine hit the spot, fries cooked perfectly, gravy was on point. Been to Greenhouse countless times, and I am all in on it being a local favorite. The property is the first thing that pops, with a nice pond & water feature in front. We were happily seated outside in the tasteful pavilion on this fine sunny day. I opted for the seared tuna poke bowl, and tried the Bao bun appetizer. Tuna in bowl was perfectly cooked & overall, the bowl was very nice & fresh, ...but it was light on flavor, despite me opting for the sriracha cream instead of regular mayo it would've came with. Found this true hidden gem located in Burlington ! Beautifully decorated for Christmas ! They have headwater and covered seating the the greenhouse and a separate dinning area as well! We went on Friday around 5pm and thankfully there as plenty of seating however by 6pm it was fully packed . To start off I ordered the apple cider margarita , which was good , hint of apple cider and a hint of margarita . For the appetizer we got the meatballs and they were AMAZING ! Highly recommend. For my entree I got the chicken parm , again fantastic , chicken was cooked perfect , topped with pesto and served over linguine ! The portion was large and filling ! We went to the Greenhouse Cafe & Tavern because we saw the Christmas decorations on Instagram and it did not disappoint! The decorations were awesome they shutdown for a whole week just to decorate the place and it showed. The food was also delicious! I got the wood fired meatballs which were super cheesey and delicious, the smash burger, and the smores old fashioned. Greenhouse is a lovely spot for lunch or dinner. It's located inside a greenhouse in Burlington. There is a garden, hanging plants, ducks, a pond, and koi fish. You have the option to dine inside too. They serve American food with seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. It's kid-friendly, a great spot for kids. There is an ice cream shop on the same property and you can buy fish food to feed them. We started off with some calamari, fresh and delicious. They had a good drink menu too. For my meal, I had a chicken salad sandwich and fries, from their specials menu. I loved the pieces of grapes in it. It was a great chicken salad. My family enjoyed their meals too. Well, we returned for meals and drinks, which we said we wouldn't do. Overall, the food remained uninspiring and lackluster. My drink was made incorrectly and instead of remaking it, it was added to which made for a very mediocre expensive cocktail. The kitchen runners brought clean plates out to the dining area and to keep them steady, was placing their chins on the top plates..... I thought for sure they would return the top plate to the kitchen but they did not. The couple next to us were served an incorrect dish and unfortunately, her date finished his entire meal before hers was returned. I rarely write negative reviews, especially for a restaurant we've visited for years, but our Father's Day experience at Greenhouse Tavern was extremely disappointing from start to finish. The restaurant was out of multiple menu items and beverages. My son's soda didn't arrive until more than 10 minutes after ordering. My drink came roughly 10 minutes after that, and my husband's drink didn't arrive until about 30 minutes after we had placed both our drink and food orders. To make matters worse, the first drink my husband ordered was unavailable. He then ordered the Birria Burrito, only to have our server return about 10 minutes later to tell us that item was also sold out. After waiting nearly an hour, our food finally arrived. During ordering, our server never asked how my husband wanted his burger cooked. We had to stop her and specify both the side and the burger temperature ourselves. Despite that, the burger arrived well done. The bacon was undercooked, the cheese wasn't melted, and the bun tasted stale. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with eggs cooked over medium. The eggs arrived completely overcooked. To his credit, the food expediter was excellent and quickly had the kitchen remake them. Unfortunately, the replacement was even worse than the first plate, and the entire meal was barely warm. At that point, it genuinely felt like our concerns were being ignored rather than corrected. Throughout the meal, our server never checked back to see how the food was, never asked if we wanted additional drinks despite empty glasses sitting on the table, and never made any effort to address the ongoing issues. When I asked to speak with a manager, the hostess left and never returned. Another server eventually approached and asked if he could help. When I asked if he was the manager, he said no and explained that the manager was busy. At that point, there were only a handful of occupied tables and the entire indoor dining room was nearly empty. Unfortunately, this isn't the first disappointing experience we've had recently. On Mother's Day, all outdoor seating was apparently reserved for "large parties," leaving our family of three seated inside. That alone wouldn't have been an issue, but the constant crashing and clanging of dishes from the service area made it difficult to enjoy the meal. It sounded as though dirty plates were being thrown into bins throughout our visit. I worked as a server for many years, so I understand that mistakes happen, restaurants get busy, and inventory issues occur. What was most frustrating was the complete lack of ownership. No one--from our server to management--made any meaningful effort to improve what was supposed to be my husband's Father's Day meal. We've supported Greenhouse Tavern for years, which makes this review particularly disappointing to write. However, after two special occasions in a row that fell far below expectations, I felt compelled to share our experience. read more

This place is so gorgeous in the summertime. There is a shady patio with lots of flowers and plants. There were also a lot of ducks running around likely because the pond is nearby. Even though it was a chillier day for June, we still enjoyed sitting in the greenhouse and taking in the beautiful views of the grounds. Really nice ambience today! I love the koi pond, ducks and one small dog wondering around. Happy to find out they have additional parking and seating closer to the pond. Took advantage of the nice breeze and ordered at the to go window where service was really nice. I enjoyed the 2 shrimp tacos but I wished they had a side of tortillas chips included. Located in the cut of Burlington Connecticut this restaurant/ice cream garden features a pond with a waterfall you HAVE to go find! And on your adventure to get there you might be lucky enough to see a family or two of ducks who will cross your path while dining outside. It's so pretty and relaxing. Noah the manager was phenomenal and very attentive on my visit. We started out with some seasonal drinks which included the June Bug Bliss (a strawberry and mint refreshing blend, my favorite) the Mocha Espresso Martini, and the black cherry cosmo. Some appetizers included the Pulpo, wood fired garlic knots, wood fired meatballs, and the beautiful baked burrata. For dinner I had the summer salmon tacos. Not only were they colorful, the flavors were fun too. Topped with a pineapple salsa and pickled onions. My friend enjoyed the Nashville Chicken Sandwich with fries. This place is NOT good. It was insanely priced and the food was not good. We went because we wanted to sit in the Christmas greenhouse. Maybe it's because it was daytime but it was lackluster at best. Not at all what we expected. Burger was completely overcooked and whole bun was sopping wet. Husbands steaks tips and risotto were overcooked as if they had been cooked earlier and reheated prior to serving. His $17 cocktail was near microscopic. Our waitress was terrible. So inattentive. Took my family to the Santa Brunch! I guess we expected a little bit more for the amount of money that we paid. It was very disorganized., the room we are outside was freezing , the chairs were uncomfortable probably needed cushions, and more heaters! The Christmas music was playing in the Buffett area inside the building, but not inside the tent, where we ate. there was no information provided when you entered. No one told the parents where the activities were being held for the children or what to expect.. overall it really didn't feel welcoming, for the prices we should expect a better organized and pleasant environment. Decided to travel a ways from my CT town to the rural town of Burlington CT near Harwington. Found Greenhouse on Google and figured I'd give it a shot. Spring and summer pictures entering the driveway of this place to eat show it as a beautiful sight. With mounds of snow, I didn't get the advantage of the beautiful pond or pentiful vegetation that I saw customers snapped photos, but given my experience, I'd leave it to my next visit When you pull in, there is a market in the front with dirt road parking, but to enjoy a dine in experience, you must drive up around back and park. The landscape is very farmy with literal barns in the back, and the building you enter with outdoor seating (when it's not February and snow covered) is literally stylized like a GREENHOUSE with sheer curtains draped over the translucent walls to the outside. They've got propane heaters out here, but I can't imagine they seat anyone out there during the coldest months. You wait in the closed door Greenhouse dining area for a hostess to seat you. Bring a jacket in the winter just in case you've got to wait a few minutes. Not a problem for my daughter and me, but the thin-skinned patrons who are new to Greenhouse might not be as expected. Imagine if you want you can wait inside the main section as well. It wasn't clear. The service was great. They were cheerful and good mannered. The speed is a little slow given the customer flow, but I'll chalk it up to a one-off occurrence. It could also be a seasonal thing or the fact that the weather wasn't ideal. The food was AWESOME. I started off with meatballs from the starter, and I'd have to say that the meatballs were probably one of the best I've had at any restaurant. They serve them to you in a mini cast iron pan. Which gives you the chance t9 scrape away the sticky cheese of the cast iron to top those meatballs. I got what appears to be the most popular online ordering option. The Station One Burger. The burger was cooked to the right inside. The toppings were plentiful and offered the right texture per bite. They serve the burger with what appears to be handcut fries (one of the best choices) and a pickle. My daughter got a Build Your Pizza, and it looked good as well. I had the unfortunate joy of sitting next to whining old couple who complained about the smallest thing to earn themselves a discount. Sometimes, you can't make everyone happy. All in all, I'll be back for a 2nd round at Greenhouse when the view is a little more Green. Everything was outstanding food wise, and will look to give the speed of service another shot before updating my review. I recommend giving them a try. We did not have a great experience today. Our server seemed uninformed when we asked direct questions about the menu. We gave her the benefit of the doubt, assuming she might be new. She said she would check on a few things for us, but never came back with the information...our food simply arrived instead. The poutine came out with ice-cold cheese curds, which was disappointing, but we chose not to complain at that point. My salad contained slimy green leaves, which I picked around, but it still left me feeling uneasy. The final straw was the BLT, which came out with bacon that was barely cooked. At that point, we felt we had to say something. Our server was apologetic and took it back, but when it returned, it appeared to be the same sandwich still with almost raw bacon and now it was cold. Overall, the rest of the food was lackluster and bland. My daughter mentioned that her wings had a strange taste, and my husband agreed and he usually eats anything.
