I can't say enough good things about Greens Feed! It is a Great place. Ignore all of the bad reviews! I know most people, including myself, usually only read the bad reviews. Probably just because they are more entertaining than the rest. I love the one that "C.B" posted, that guy is an idiot, read the rest of his reviews, they really reflect on what type of person he is. He's the finger snapper at the restaurant, complaining about the service, because he waited tables for a week back in 1976! The guy that he named in his review "Christian" is one of the nicest people in the world! I DO NOT LIKE THIS PERSONAL ATTACK ON MY FRIEND!! He always takes time to answer our questions and directs in the right direction. It so nice to have a family owned store that we can support locally. I have a rabbit and I needed to find a place that would have good quality hay for him. I bought a flake of hay for about 20 and it would have lasted a long time. But the thing is my rabbit has allergies and after about a month he was sneezing whenever he put his face inside of the hay. I went to fluff it out and I saw a bunch of white flakes coming out the hay. I bought moldy hay. That could have made my rabbit sick. When I went back and told them the hay I bought was moldy, the lady gave me a weird look that I was lying and I showed her a video of me fluffing out the hay. No apology no nothing. I'll probably order my hay online. read more

Green's Feed is where I get all my rabbit food, hay, and accesories. Although there is not a gigantic selection of rabbit stuff there is top quality rabbit foods. They carry the Oxboro rabbit food (alphalpha free) and also good quality Timothy Hay mini bales. They are always very friendly and even have young strapping boys carry out your rabbit litter to your car. Good service goes a long way. Friendly, down to earth people. read more

Green's Feed is a really great family owned operation. Their prices are comparable to most feed stores in the area but they provide much better service. I drive past 2 other feedstores to get to Green's. Their products are a little higher quality as well. The only thing that disappoints is this: In the past couple years they have employed outside help, who just don't try as hard to please as the owners and family members. The employees just dont care as much and aren't as attentive as in the old days, when you were always helped by someone with a vested interest in the company's success. But, I'd say over all its still the best feedstore in Reno. read more

I have known the owners for 30 plus years now, great "local people". Have done business there several times over the years. This year I wanted to raise a few chickens, and I to fell pray to "chick day"! Got 15 for the price of the feed (got a good price on the feed also). We also had a problem with the chicks, we got shorted one. I figure it was my fault as the little chick pluckers (the grand kids of the owners) miscounted by one and I should have caught it, when we got home and called to complain, I to was told it was too late, and I must agree. Green's sells top quality name brand pet food, such as "Taste of the Wild" dog kibble for about 60% of what other pet stores sell it for. They have several brands of dog food available and they are all much cheaper than petsmart, petco, scraps, etc. read more

Cheapest propane in town (that I've found) and most of the things you'd need for animals big or small. I appreciate that prices aren't super high (most things I've found on amazon are similarly priced) and the owner stocks things that she trusts. There are a few hiccups; sometimes undertrained staff, sometimes very few options (or only the most expensive ones) - for example when I was looking for a chicken water heater. Overall, though, glad to have them nearby when I need them. read more

Good selection of electric fence equipment. Scott and Chris are very knowledgeable about how to build electric fences for bear protection. Good prices. Checked Home Depot, all the Ace and True Value sites in the Tahoe area, none of them carried electrical fence equipment. read more

I have been going to greens for years. I recently stopped buying my hay from them as their prices were way to high for the quality of hay they provide. I do shop there for other needs such as supplements and things I need to get my hands on quickly. I was unable to drive out of town for hay this month and got hay yesterday... I asked for mix hay... the hay I got is 90 % grass extremely light and fluffy and I paid over 17 bucks a bale. Outrageous! I know they need to turn a profit but wow. Four flakes of what I got from them is equal to the weight of two flakes from other hay distributors in town and they have cheaper prices. read more

I really love Green's feed. I just started my rabbitry and I am new to keeping chickens but they are so very helpful! I came in asking about what other rabbit breeders feed their meat livestock and was given quick, precise answers. I was given a discount for rabbit feeders and bought my rabbit feed there as well. Very good quality for the price. When I bought my laying hens, they helped me out with the right feed, scratch, and oyster shells. They even explained how frequently the feeders and waterers needed cleaning. I really enjoy shopping there and they try to foster the agricultural community in the Reno area. I'd like to first state that the guys that help in the feed yard were very helpful and friendly. Other than that, it was probably not the best customer service I've ever experienced. Three women working inside, when I made eye contact with one and asked a question, she completely ignored me. After obviously hearing me, Another lady asked if I needed something. I asked if she knew the price of an item and she was short with me. When checking out, the last girl was just plain unfriendly, and cold. I asked if they carried a certain item. She turned around and placed it on the counter without a word, or a smile. Holy crap! I got the feeling they all just wanted me gone. Not good customer service.... Last Thursday 09-27-2018 I took my 3 propane tanks to Greens Feed. Greens Feed had re-certified these tanks last April 2018 and placed a certification sticker on the tanks at that time which is supposed to be valid for 5 years. On my way to Greens i noticed that all three of these stickers were peeling loose & had almost come off only five months into the five year period they were valid for. So I asked them to replace the stickers since if they came off & were missing, no one would fill my tanks for me. They flat out refused to replace the defective stickers that had almost completely fallen off. I asked to speak to the owner & when he showed up he also refused to make it right. I explained to the owner (Scott Green) that I wasn't trying to fool anybody or get anything for free. I had obviously paid for the re-cetification right there at Greens Feed & the stickers could easily be identified as theirs. All I was asking for was for them to make it right & replace the faulty stickers that I had already paid for they had installed. AS stated...they flat out refused and I got completely stonewalled. Horrible customer service! The guy named Fin or something close to that was so rude and they wouldnt return a broken fly trap because i didnt have the card i bought it with on me... even though i had the receipt and it clearly wasnt used. It has my last name on the receipt from using the card too but he still insisted that i grab the card even if i showed him my ID. All i wanted was the 8$ i spent on the already broken trap. They were also saying that i purposely broke it for some reason... id give it less then 1 star if i could. read more

This used to be the only store where I bought my chicken food and babies. This summer I bought 7 baby chickens and got one home that did not look healthy. I called the store and told them what was happening with one of the babies. They told me "sorry, once you take the chicks from the store, they are yours and there is no returns allowed." Not very good customer service considering I didn't even pick the baby chick, the person working in the store, picked it. The chick ending up dying three days later-sad. Hands down worst customer service ever. I will never step foot in that feed store again. No greetings from anyone when you walk in the store. Then a really bad attitude from the girls when you go to check out. I am not one to complain, but I was so angry when I went there today. My husband often visits Greens Feed to get are propane tank filled. He will usually complain about the customer service every time he leaves. Today I got to experience that first hand. 1 stop Ranch and Feed is a better option, they seem generally happy to get the business. We will be taking are business there!! read more

Have been going to Greens Feed store for quite a few years for bird seed. On my last visit a couple of months ago I ordered several bags of seed (sunflower and mixed) but the cashier accidentally put down that I wanted mixed hay instead of mixed bird seed, they were very close to the same price so I didn't notice. When I went to the yard to pick up the feed I gave my receipt to a large young person to load. He loaded the sunflower seed and with an attitude asked where I wanted the mixed, when I said my car, he said no way. He seemed to struggle a little with language and I had a hard time understanding him. When I finally realized the mistake I went back into the store and straightened out the order and went back outside. I handed the same man the receipt and he started to unload the sunflower seed. I said no, I still wanted that to which the grabbed the three sacks of sunflower seed, threw them on the ground and said "make up your fu ing mind, came at me like he was going to hit me. I moved back in shock. I went back inside to tell the cashier and another person what happened and they were dismissive and uninterested saying "oh we'll handle it". His name was Christian. If you want to go to a place where they condone abuse and intimidation of senior citizens (I am 66 years old) than this is you place. I suggest you make a statement and not support this obviously dysfunctional business. There are other great feed stores in Reno Sparks that appreciate your business without intimidation. read more

I've always been a little frustrated shopping at Greens Feed because the employees are very unschooled about the products they carry and livestock in general. If you have a question about a product, you are not going to get a knowledgeable answer from any one there..I don't consider an employee coming over and reading the label an answer (I can do that). I bought some injectable penicillin and as it has been awhile since I have administered penicillin I was uncertain as to the dose..the label on the bottle said, 'Read insert for directions & dosage'..I then realized they didn't sell it to me with the insert..the price & expiration date was hand written on the side with marker. I called, a typical untrained employee, Sara answered..she first said the dosage & directions were on the bottle..I explained it was not.. only the 'Read insert for directions & dosage'..asking for someone with some livestock knowledge (crazy thing to expect in a business like this!) or for someone to locate an 'insert'! Sara responded with, "your welcome to drive here & read the insert yourself".. Really? An 80 mile round trip to read the insert myself?! I'm not sure what is more frustrating..the zero knowledge or the rudeness. I'm done with Greens Feed! read more

I first discovered Green's Feed in spring of 2010 when I decided to start raising backyard chickens. They are very friendly and helpful and they always have everything I need. They even offer to carry heavy items out to my car. I discovered that they also carry Taste of the Wild Dog food, which is one of the best on the market, and the price is the best I've found anywhere, online or locally. Very Bad Service !!! Went there to get propane and the lady in side told me to take my tank out to the large filling tank and someone would be right there, so I waited about 5 min and no one showed up , then employee lady came out walked by me and then came back by and I ask where is the person to fill my tank she pointed across the parking lot there were two people on forklifts helping another customer, so I waited for them to get done, then there was another customer showed up he went inside order something came back out got in his truck and pulled in the yard, and the guy on the forklift came over and took the yard tag from him and helped him before me , I told the guy I was here before that person and you were watching me standing over here, so he went and helped him first , I was so damn mad, and over the years I have bought a lot of feed and tack and other items, I wouldn't buy one thing from that place now , So what happened to first come first serve. read more

We have been in several dog food stores in RENO and SPARKS NV and buy large quantities as we have alot of dogs and cats. We never are told NO to our numbers we buy showing up with no planning on our part, always are loaded, Many times given price cuts on products other than dog food due to our large purchases and NEVER have been taken care of so well at any feed store anywhere as WELL as Greenes.
