I had an overall outstanding experience. Matt K (in Kansas City) and Eduardo (in Hayward) handled my order and installation scheduling for a remanufactured battery with excellent customer service and professionalism.  On the day of my installation, Eduardo performed the diagnostic on my 2008 Toyota Highlander (~174K miles) and reviewed the results with me. Since there were no signs of significant hybrid battery performance degradation, I cancelled the installation. Eduardo gave me a few tips to extend the life of the hybrid battery and recommended that I return for a free diagnostic check next year or sooner if 'Check Engine' light appears. Bay Area LEAF owners rejoice! Greentec auto in Hayward can do full battery replacements on all models of Nissan LEAF. Meaning any LEAF owner can have a 62 kWh battery installed for greater range should they wish, or simply replace their aging battery with one of the same size. Greentec's Hayward shop has done two such replacements for LEAFs in my family. K.C. and Eduardo know their business and are patient and understanding with customers who are apprehensive due to previous bad treatment (gouging) from Nissan dealership's service departments. They will answer your questions as honestly and completely as possible. This shop is manned by 2 people. So, at times, it may not be easy to reach them by phone if both mechanics are up to their necks in a car. It's worth the wait. It's also worth noting that there is a glitch in Google maps related to the street the shop is located on. The Hayward shop's address at 998 Rufus Court is correct on the web but Google Maps will not get you there. Use Google maps to get you to the Mission Laundry on the east side of Mission Boulevard in Hayward. From there you will see a tiny street called Rufus Court intersecting Mission Boulevard but not crossing it. Work your way back to the end of that street to find resurrection for your LEAF. Before Greentec offered this service the closest option for LEAF battery replacement was EV rides in Portland or in Los Angeles. We are SAVED brothers and sisters!! I LOVE my LEAF hatchback and did not want to replace it with a CRV or SUV. Replacing the battery saved me approximately $27,000 and a ton of depreciation on a new EV. Not to mention the much lower registration and insurance costs on my existing 2013 LEAF which is now drivable for many more years. Thank you Greentec! I was very pleased with the professional interactions with Greentec while I purchased an 8AH Honda Civic Hybrid battery with a 3 year warrantee and in-house installation. The shop was clean, well-organized, comfortable, and well heated. The staff verified that my Honda was showing error codes indicating a degraded battery and the installation of the battery made those codes stop coming back. When I drove to the shop I was getting approximately 30 mpg, but on the way home I got 40 mpg. I'm a little worried about giving Greentec such a favorable review, as I still don't know how well the battery will perform for the next 3 or more years, but everything I saw suggested that it will not be a problem. read more

Why can't all businesses be like this? I believe I was helped by KC cuz the 2 times I went to the shop, he is only person there. I needed to replace my hybrid battery but since I had taken my car to Toyota dealership they had removed the codes, so KC told to continue to drive and bring back the car once the lights/codes come back up. After few days, hybrid repair engine light came back up. I immediately wanted to get repaired so I started driving to Hayward shop while I was in the middle of very important call, I was confident that he will repair at his earliest convenience. I felt he is honest and genuine based on my only prior experience. I got there.. Luckily, he had about 30 minutes before his next appointment. I asked to get the battery with 2 years warranty and costed me about $1700. He replaced the battery in about 20 minutes or so. So far, it's been fine no issues. The hybrid battery pack in my 2006 Ford Escape died. New ones go for $13,000, yikes! My mechanic found that Greentec was highly recommended by multiple people in his network with other garages and mechanics, and the cost for a reconditioned battery pack was less than a quarter of the cost of a new one. The very knowledgeable owner of Greentec, KC, could not have been more accommodating. Before I left the shop, he made sure that I understood the need to let the engine idle for 4-5 minutes first thing each day until the RPM needle drops into the Battery zone. Great service at a great price. From my first phone contact with Geeentec everything went smoothly and professionally. By phone Mark explained options for replacing my hybrid battery -- I chose to go with remote installation. Before the end of business the same day, the technician KC called to confirm my appointment. On the day of installation KC updated me in the morning and arrived right on time. KC was very professional and the installation went smoothly and quickly. He showed me what he was doing as he went. KC was very professional, polite, efficient and obviously experienced. The price for the 6.5 amp was excellent and gave the same 3 yr/ 36 month warranty as the dealership for about half the price even when the remote labor charge of $250 was factored in. The battery was there, ready to install when we arrived for our appointment. The office was tiny, but there was a comfortable couch in it. Alex was working, and he was helpful and friendly. In and out in 45 minutes, with no problems. This option was one quarter the cost of what the Honda dealer quoted me, $4400! The only downside is that this outlet doesn't have a credit/debit card reader, so unless you're paying cash, you'll have to complete the transaction with the card you already used for the deposit when you made the appointment. If you want to use a different card, you'll talk to the same person you made the appointment with to give the CC numbers over the phone. If this makes you uncomfortable, plan ahead. They would probably let you pay the entire amount ahead of time, but most people don't do that. The bathroom needs major help, but it was clean and the plumbing worked. With the money I saved and the speed at which the new battery was installed, who cares about the bathroom? read more

It has been few months since I installed a new hybrid battery on my Prius at Greentec Hayward and everything is good. I have a trusted local shop for regular maintenance issues, but I was told that their diagnostic tool has limitations when it comes to hybrid cars. Greentec has Toyota shop grade diagnostic tool and Alex said they will provide free diagnostics for any issues on Prius as long as the battery warranty is effective. Greentec does not offer regular vehicle maintenance service, however, they will provide full diagnosis, print out the results, so I can bring it to my regular shop. I feel much better now about owning a Prius, as in the past, I could not get the exact error code, from the generic diagnostic tool at my regular local shop. read more

They have products no one else has -- they had a special battery for my Accord Hybrid that was far more powerful than the standard replacement that you'd get at a dealer. Greentec Auto deserves the highest recommendation. Using Greentec Auto in Hayward saved us almost 50% off of what the dealer, Marin Honda, quoted to replace the IMA battery in our first generation 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid. Greentec Auto also gave us the same warranty that Marin Honda offered for a replacement IMA battery (36 months for the option we chose). Marin Honda quoted $3,500.00 to replace the IMA battery plus $156.00 for a diagnostic exam to confirm the IMA battery needed to be replaced and to discover if any other problems also were present. Greentec Auto offers the diagnostic exam for free, charged us only $1,695.00 for the IMA replacement battery plus $150.00 for labor for a total of $1,845.00 when we would have had to pay Marin Honda at least $3,656.00 for the same job (I never asked if Marin Honda would have charged extra for labor). Wow, what a huge savings! We chose Greentec Auto's best and most expensive IMA battery replacement option with the longest warranty out of three options available for our car brand, model and year. Check Greentec Auto's website for options, warranty info and prices for your car's brand, model and year. Best of all, the car is running great since Chris at Greentec Auto in Hayward replaced the IMA battery. My husband and I were hesitant to try Greentec Auto as we never had heard of the company until we needed a replacement IMA battery. I read several online reviews regarding Greentec Auto which built my confidence in the company. I also spoke to Cindy, the appointment setter at Greentec Auto, who patiently answered all of my questions over four phone calls before we decided to use Greentec Auto. Marin Honda confirmed Honda dealers also use refurbished IMA batteries with new cells as replacements which is what Greentec Auto put into our car. When we checked the Kelley Blue Book's online valuation info, we discovered our 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid (with a working IMA battery) would be worth only about $1,000.00 at trade in and just $3,000.00 if sold to a private party. After considering our car's resale value, we explained to Cindy and Chris at Greentec Auto that if the free diagnostic exam indicated more problems needing repair in addition to replacement of the IMA battery, we would choose to give the car a funeral. Cindy and Chris were very understanding. Chris called us twice during the diagnostic exam to report on the findings. Chris also let us know we might end up needing to replace the small battery as well which we would consider an acceptable expense if necessary in the future. We are delighted Greentec Auto has made it possible for us to get at least another three years of use out of our old car (the option we selected includes a warranty for 36 months). Considering our car's resale value, it would not have made sense for us to pay the prices quoted by Marin Honda. We might keep this old car for only another year, but now we have the freedom to take our time choosing a replacement vehicle thanks to Greentec Auto. Thank you, Cindy and Chris!
