This stop was unexpected. While in route to take care of my one errand a indicator light came on and I somehow didn't have my manual in my glove compartment so I took to YouTube. Found out I needed to check my coolant. Found the nearest auto place to me to avoid any damage due to prolonged driving. The staff were helpful and friendly. As I was purchasing the coolant they advised me to wait at least thirty minutes as a safety measure for the car to cook down and the coolant not explode from the combustion. A nearby Pupusas restaurant was recommended. How timely considering I hadn't eaten. I seem to be notorious for leaving the house on an empty stomach or having very little before leaving home. Anyhoo, Josiah an associate walked me to the Pupusa which was very close but I wasn't too familiar with the area. I ate, returned to the store and Josiah put the coolant in for me. This is my favorite location with the most helpful staff. This place has saved me both in time and money. If you have ever driven around to 3 different stores you know what I'm talking about.... Not only can you find exactly what your looking for, I think the quality levels are much better than the Auto Zone in my opinion. Located right off Jackson, at the Foothill Blvd interchange so if your heading out of town, you can easily pop in here then get back on the road without missing a beat. I came into buy some jumper cables the other day they had some for around $28.00 before taxes which looked like a pretty good deal to me. Sometimes you just can't wait two days for Amazon and if your in need of cables you mostly need them right away. The other auto parts store the Zone, only had one or two jumper cables in stock which my wallet said to me they got to be kidding.... $130.00 for jumper cables? That's just plain outrageous! Who can afford that? Not me. So once again, O'Reilly's saved my bacon, I should have came her first. I didn't catch the managers name but she was very helpful. read more

The cashier A on Saturday, March 8 at around 5:30 PM PT took my cash, entered the wrong number into the register, and then got confused. I handed him over $100 in cash and he only entered in half of that number. He was supposed to give me over $40 in change and only handed me 8 cents. I asked what happened and he panicked and handed me thirty dollars. He should have handed me another $6 after that but he seemed to already be confused after doing the numbers wrong a third time. The assistant manager named Luis is the most dedicated o'reilly representative they've ever had. I notice he is close and careful with every step he takes to make the Jackson store well kept up with. What ever he's getting paid he needs that doubled maybe even tripled, I've never met someone so helpful and professional. Whether it's a battery install, a helping hand or even something as simple as a diagnostics code reader, Luis is the guy I will refer everyone to and definitely the guy that I will go to. I prefer to buy a pair of shoes over a windshield wiper. But the shoes will have to wait if I can't see through the windshield while driving on highway 880 during an El Nino storm, right? I guess. I was taking a day off from work and had plans to go shopping for shoes, grocery and other stuff that are important to a girl. When I get into my car and click the garage door and cranked up the old Rav4, a strange sound came out of it. It was not the same purrrr noise I get but a whaawhaawhaawhaa whaa noise. Ohhh! Car is out of commission for the day. First thought that came into my mind...darn! There goes my day of shopping. Second thought, ooh, can I buy a shiney new car now? Third thought, man, I'm stuck at home now. What do I do? I call a man. A man to the rescue. The next day that is. After I've lounged on the sofa watching Korean soaps all leisure day long, that is. The next day, the man brings his 'Frankinstein is alive' cords with clamps to juice up the ol' 11 year original battery. A quick clip clop to the battery scared the bejesus out of me. I thought an electric bolt would come through and kill the both of us. It was the battery. Dead. Dead as a doorknob. The man tells me to run over to O'reillys and they can do the rest. I'm a clueless knucklehead when it comes to these things but I do as the man tells me. There wasn't customers there when I entered the store. I went straight to the guy and got to business. 1 car battery please. What make and model is your car, miss? Toyota Rav4 2005. He pulls up the computer and gives me several options. I said, which one would you pick? So, he picks one for me with a better warranty and not the cheapest one. I trust him. Then I bat my eyes... can you install it for me too? He looks at me, looks around the store, looks at the computer, then looks at me, then looks around the store, then answers, yes. Yes! That was the answer I was looking for. Such a nice young man. After paying for it, I take him to my car and he switches it out in 15 minutes. What a man, what a man, what a man, what a very good man. And the car purrs again. I've been to plenty of Oreileys and it's always okay customer service. I happened to go to the one near my house on Tennyson but I didn't feel like I had clarification on my headlights issue on my Honda Civic, But then I came to this one on Jackson and mission just to verify and/or to get a second opinion and Jesus was super amazing compared to other places. He came outside to check my headlights and he was super great on clarifying what I didn't understand. He went above and beyond for me and it was an awesome experience. read more

I had been desperately checking auto shops for 2 days after I got off work that could help me install my battery if I bought one from their location but to no avail. Since I always got it done In Castro Valley where I used to reside for 16 years, I went back there only to find out that they could not do it. So I did a return on the battery I bought from them and started looking for a place who could help me. Garages were charging from $40 - $50. I had no one else to help me and then God heard my prayers. I was directed to O'Reilly on 800 Jackson street. After being turned down again by the sales person I began to leave the shop and I saw another sales person helping a customer outside the shop to take down information from her vehicle, so I asked him if he could help me and to my surprise he said yes. When I told him what I needed he said not a problem and I said thank you so much the other person said he could not come outside. He politely told me it may have been a misunderstanding. I am 60 years old and have been a Store Manager at my previous retail job, I currently work at a corporate office, this young man Dylan Lucas who helped me is an asset to this company, he was not only calm and attentive to everything going on around the shop while helping me but made sure everyone who entered the shop was wearing a face covering because of the current situation. I am so grateful to Mr. Dylan Lucas for helping me and taking the time to install the battery in my car. I will definitely recommend him and his services to all my family and friends. I walk in about 8pm looking to get my check engine light diagnostic already feeling like a jerk to do this as late as I did but after working 2 jobs with 2 kids time is short at times . Gentlemen at the counter said it was to late for them to go outside wich i totally understand but as I'm getting in my car I see him walking out with a different individual to check his car out but 1 min ago it was to late to go outside???. The store itself is pretty nice. They have a wide selection of parts and accessories for lots of makes and models, and I'm pretty sure they can order just about anything if they don't have it. The store is clean. Both the garage and inside seem to always be at least somewhat busy. I can't speak to the service of the garage, only inside. What good is a quality store if you don't have quality service to back it up? Their counter has 3 registers. I think I've only been in once when all 3 were being used. But here's the problem... Some people take so long with their transaction - from researching what parts to paying - that customers might stand in line for 10+ minutes when all they need to do is pay! Why not have a register or 2 for looking parts up, one register solely for paying, and someone to go "fetch" parts instead of staff leaving a register? And common sense... well... They know more about cars than I do, that is for sure. But I mean c'mon... This last Saturday and yesterday really challenged their common sense. I called in about 2 sensors. They had them and I asked the guy on the other end to put them on hold as I would be in shortly. He said he would, but he didn't even take down my name. I go in and ask for sensors put on hold. The guy I was working with had no clue about any sensors on hold. So he had to look them up, says they're both in stock. Funny.... they only had ONE in stock. Fine, no big deal, we can't replace them until at least Sunday. So he orders me the second sensor and I pay for both. It should be in by Sunday midday. Unfortunately, we didn't make it down Sunday. My dad goes yesterday to pick up the sensor with the receipt. 3 staff are looking around the store for the sensor. I wonder what wait time that created for everyone else... The only conclusion they came to was that whoever received the order, sent it back. WHY would you send a product back that was paid for?! Needless to say, thank goodness there's another O'Reilly close enough in Castro Valley. read more

The guys at this shop are pretty cool and knowledgable. Every time I have come here they have been very helpful and have referred me to shops and mechanics for projects that where to complex. As far as their parts they sell, good quality and affordable. I came up on a ignition cylinder interlock assembly for a 96 Honda Accord for $110 still in its original packaging. Came in to buy a battery, car was jumped and barely made it to the store. I asked a guy at the register if I can rent just a 10mm wrench so I can change out my battery. Every O'Reilly store I've been to does tool rental. This clown had the audacity to tell me "we don't do tool rentals here, you're gonna have to buy it" I just left the store to go look for somewhere else, but the workers from the tire shop next door told me that they do tool rentals here and they had no idea why I was lied to. So I went back inside and just asked a DIFFERENT worker if I could rent two tools. The first thing he said was "yeah no problem" and hands me the tool with no problem at all. After changing the battery in the lot, I came back in the store and I walk into seeing the first guy that I unfortunately had to talk to, HAND SOMEONE ELSE A RENTAL TOOL. He also saw the battery and tools in my hand, we both knew he lied to me for "no reason". He turned out to be the manager, shift leader, or something important because other employees called him "boss". I don't write Yelp reviews unless I feel like it's necessary. But what pissed me off was that the guy basically lied to me about something so simple about not having tool rentals. I just needed the battery and to get out of there ASAP. Bossman acted like he wanted to help me out, acted like he didn't just lie to me because he thought that I forgot it was him. That guy was so fake like he was some actor, sold me the wrong battery (still works, wrong size battery, getting battery exchanged tomorrow), and overall just the first EVER unpleasant experience I've had at a damn O'Reilly's. To the guy that "helped" me: I hope you see this. I don't know if you know me, if you're racist, biased, have some grudges, but leave that stuff at home. I was just a random customer looking for a tool rental. I really can't believe they made some stupid f*** like you boss, let alone hire you. WOW, Where to begin... My review is based upon over 10+ visits to this establishment. So lets start off from even trying to park at this place, who's idea was it to have all your customers park in the shared parking lot (With a restaurant called "The Ranch") Seeing that there's a "Wheel works" included in this cluster-f*ck that also provides tune ups/tires needless to say, all the store front parking is taken up by those who decided to be over charged for minimal work. Once you get actual inside from the confusion you open the most nastiest grease warn door I've seen out of a burger king bath room. (Pretty much a cry to be cleaned, i wanted to use my sock to open the door) None the less, once you're in the building it's a shot in the dark to actually find something you're actually looking for, the place is always out-of-stock. Good luck also trying to talk to the employee's cause most are on break and the others know nothing of what you're looking for/actual needing. I went in for brake pads and they tried to sell me an engine mount. In fact just came from there only to stand around and listen to some old guy ramble to all customers about how he can fix anything slipping his number to each paying customer as the transaction was completed... To be honest i left seeing i stood there for over 20 minutes without any acknowledgement that they'd be with me! Ample amount of time just listening to this old guy talking to other customers about how he was the one to fix anything... Not good business IMO Further more, you guys have competition, so i went to auto-zone around the corner and will be telling all my friends to do so as well. This place makes no sence... I go in cause I needed some replacement tail light fixtures. I go to the shelf and find what i need. Walk to the register and there is no cashier. I ask one of the guys working at the parts counter where the cashier is at. He says it's only him and another guy working amd I'll have to wait in line at the parts counter to purchase my items. Now why should I be in a parts line when i don't need any parts from behind the counter? Why should I wait in that line that I don't need? You need a cashier! Poor service here... They sold me a defective alternator that cost me an extra $125 I wouldn't have otherwise needed to spend and refused to reimburse me for it. I do not think I will be buying from O'Reilly Auto Parts ever again, nor will I recommend anyone to buy from there. This has been a nightmare from what should have been a simple and quick in-and-out exchange. My car's alternator went bad, so I went to this local automobile parts store to buy a new one so that I could install it myself because I don't have enough money to afford being able to take it to a repair shop. So, I install it and it works fine for a day. A single day. The next day, the same problem happens and I have to get it towed to a repair shop and pay $125 for them to diagnose the problem---which was still that the alternator was bad. So, I take the new alternator out and exchange it for a new new alternator (which I have yet to test thoroughly). During this time, I manage to get a hold of the store manager, who is apparently the only person in the whole world who can help me (according to the staggeringly unhelpful labor claims company person I talked to on the phone), exactly once to help me figure out how I could get some reimbursement for the $125 the faulty part cost me, but they didn't know anything and told me to call customer satisfaction. So, I do that, and the guy I talk to about labor claims straight up accuses me of lying. I'm not joking. That was this morning. I've been told I'm going to have to wait another week to get a hold of the store manager again because they won't be in the office during that time. *Important* The guy on the other end of the labor claims customer satisfaction phone line accused me of lying and refused to pass me onto someone who was more qualified to help me. read more

I will tell you why this place deserves 5 stars. John, Byron, and Hak helped me get my car back on the road. My vehicle broke down and I parked it a block away from this store. I needed a new belt, or so I thought, so I bought one from John and Byron. Meanwhile, by the time I got back to my car it was about 8:40pm. As I prepared to install the new belt, I discovered that a pulley from my power steering pump broke loose. What I didn't know is that it was a power steering pump yet. I returned to the store, which closes at 9pm, at 9:01pm. John let me back into the store and we spent the next 20 minutes figuring out which part actually failed. According to the engine diagram, it was the power steering pump after all. For this car, there are about 6 ways how you can buy a power steering pump. We looked up the necessary parts using their database, resolved inconsistencies, and I bought most of the parts I needed. I later decided to instead of installing the new parts to simply skip the entire failed system that I didn't need. This required a custom length belt. Back to the store I went the next morning and Hak quickly found me the closest matching belt, as well as processed my returns. The belt he suggested fit perfectly, but I had a discharged battery. As the belt came off, the car was running on battery and the alternator got disconnected. When that battery finally brought the car to a stop, it would no longer start it. The battery was still good but needed a charge. So I brought my battery into the store and they tested and recharged it in less than 2 hours. I asked the store for a referral to a junk yard because one of my parts they did not sell failed. They told me about a local junk yard that would likely have the part. I called the place, and they did. Finally, I had one more question about the replacement part, which Hak answered for me. I picked up some antifreeze, refilled my car's cooling system, and drove away. In summary, I decided to return all parts except for a custom length belt and antifreeze and my repair ultimately cost me just those two items. All of that got processed trouble-free. I am not concerned about store's personnel helping other people who call the store because I expect this to happen and allocate enough time for it to not be a problem for me when I visit parts stores. This was a completely hassle-free experience with great assistance by the store's personnel. I highly recommend it to anyone who happens to break down in Hayward, CA and other local residents. read more

The employees here are a joke. I spoke to LARRY yesterday to order some parts I needed. He took my name and number and the shipment should arrive by 4 or so yesterday. I called at 350 pm before going to check on the status. I was told initially the parts were coming from Stockton. My call in afternoon Larry says the Oakland store didn't have them and they had to reorder. I said when should I expect them? Was told today. I go in after the store has been open an hour and turns out the store got emailed during the next guy that the parts have to come out of state. NO ONE CALLED ME TO GIVE A HEADS UP. WHY DID THEY TAKE MY NUMBER DOWN IF THEY'RE NOT GOOD NG TO CALL. Then you have the other employee on a personal call about his cable at the counter. The service here is bs. Would never go to this location ever again. What should've been convinient was not. Larry doesn't know what good customer service is. read more
