I needed a front end alignment. I took it in, and before they even pulled it into the shop they checked to see if I already knew that my truck chronically leaned to the left, which I did. But they checked. The kept me in the know and checked in with me periodically the whole procedure. It took about 40 minutes but I didn't mind at all. Extremely professional and kind guys who know their stuff and are happy to share their knowledge because they are concerned about giving you the best value for your money. Some time ago I brought my truck into Ryan's to do a simple oil change. I wanted to mention the total incompetence in such a simple job. Last weekend I decided to do the job myself because I wanted to use full synthetic oil. I needed to use a breaker to remove the drain cap (should be 9 ft/lbs), filter housing ( should be 18 ft/lbs) and drain plug (should be 30 ft/lbs) . And the crush washer Was never replaced on the drain plug. Aside from all that, I had to buy a special wrench to remove the filter housing and I learned why it was so tight. The didn't replace a single O ring. And lastly, they cross threaded the skid plate when they reinstalled it. I will need to remove and re-weld a new nut plate. Needless to say I had to waste $50 of engine oil in order to do the job right. This proves the old adage, "if you want something done right, do it yourself. read more

I went in for an oil change, dropped the car off at 9:30 in the morning and was told it would take about an hour. they have really great customer service, but they are not transparent at all. We talked at 10:30 also, they said my car was next in line. then again called at noon to check and they told me my car still hadn't been worked on and they are going to lunch and the car would now be ready at 2:30. I went to go pickup my car at noon, they never completed any type of service to my car. I'm very unhappy with their services or lack their of and will not be returning unfortunately because they were very nice. They did offer me an uber when I dropped off the car, but when I asked to come pick it up because I couldn't leave my car for 4 and a half hours for a simple oil change they did not offer to uber me back to pick up my car. read more

STAY AWAY from these guys. I came in due to my car making a nasty loud sound whenever going over 2k rpms. They quoted me a whopping $3,500 to replace a cv axel and some bearings. I ended up renting a trailer and truck from uhaul and towed my car myself all the way down to my mechanic in San Jose who not only told me he can do it for 1.5k BUT my mechanic (shout out to Akins repair in san jose) told me that they didn't even mention that my transmission was the real problem. So in summary I paid these con men at ryans $250 for a diagnostic (absurd to begin with) they were going to charge me 3.5k for a 1.5k job and they didn't even find the problem so if I paid them these extortion prices thinking I could go back home I would've been told in the middle of repair that I would have to cough up another $5k for a transmission. Literally saved about 6 months worth of rent avoiding them. Update to owners response: please re read what i wrote. I was quoted 3,500 for the cv axel AND bearings not sure why you're saying i misheard when i asked very bluntly over the phone, " how much will it cost to get me back on the road to go home" your employee said 3,500 and reiterated it was for cv axel AND bearings. in addition to the overcharge for both parts and services the issue was misdiagnosed by your employees as i took my car to a transmission specialist and he insisted to take a ride with me so i can confirm the noise (a protocol your business should incorporate) and instantly recognized the sound to be either transmission or transfer case and is currently diagnosing it further for $150 ($100 cheaper than you.) my main mechanic (the one that would do what was recommended to me for less than half the price you quoted me) even told me that he doesn't know what you all were listening to because within 30 min of me dropping it off he recommended me the transmission specialist (he didnt charge me for this inspection fyi). And he agreed that my cv axel and bearings could use work but this noise had nothing to do with that. In other words its evident that If I went ahead with your business I would've spent thousands of dollars and still would not have been able to drive on the road and spend thousands more to fix the actual root of the problem. I still have the diagnosis and i can go ahead and publish how you managed to find everything but the root problem and compare it to the findings of the ongoing transmission inspection and if God willing if it's just a transfer case problem I'll update how my car is back on the road after towing it to the south bay and having two other mechanics look at it cost me less that dealing with you. read more

Unfair Pricing & Misleading Information! I had a very unpleasant experience at Ryan's Automotive and feel like I was taken advantage of. The day before my appointment, I called to confirm Uber inspection details, and a man named Travis told me it would take 10 minutes and cost between $25-$30 max. However, when I arrived, Travis wasn't there, and the inspection (which only took 10 minutes) ended up costing $72.80 way more than franchise shops charge. When I questioned the price, the front desk lady claimed it took 30 minutes and brushed off my concern. I always try to support local businesses, but this felt dishonest. They could never get the electrical correct and it is still broken. We paid for this. This happened months ago. Fast forward to today. I purchased two batteries from an out source. I took the truck in for an oil change, battery replacement, and a rear brake light problem. I spoke with them last week about replacing the batteries that we were buying from somewhere else. Never in that conversation did it come up that they do not install outsourced batteries. As per the office manager they don't do that because they quote, "loose money". When I said that is a joke and we needed to find a real mechanic to do so he asked me to leave. Not only did he ask me to leave, but another man in the office came out from a door behind him and told me to leave. Over that? I was beyond confused. And two men asking a woman to leave? My wife's Nissan Altima was shaking when I drove it. I took it to Ryans's Automotive and met with Travis, their service manager. They did a diagnostic test and told me it needed all new coils and wiring and a vapor unit. I was given a quote of around $1400. I called the Nissan dealer and they would have charged close to $1600. I also told them when we started it in the morning it was making a squeaking sound. They tested it and heard the squeak and told me it needed all the belts tightened... Travis said they only use quality parts and ensure them for 2 years! Not only do they repair the car they sanitize the driver and passenger sides of the car! Unfortunately this place price gouges like I've never experienced before. I was quoted about $3650 for 2 rather normal repairs, which is more than I paid for my car, when ultimately the repair cost me $470 somewhere else in the area. They claimed the high prices had to do with "covid supply chain issues". But I always look up how much parts cost to get an idea of labor-- it would've been around $300 for the parts, meaning $3350 in labor. My mom jokingly asked "are they throwing in a new engine with that?" Meanwhile, the shop knew when I brought it in that I had to have the car looked at right away because it started acting up while I was here visiting someone on their death bed. The shop came off as nice people but ultimately I wouldn't trust them unless you don't care about what you're being charged. read more

I don't have a local mechanic, I typically try to service my own vehicles, tho some bad health has kept me from doing much of late. Nonetheless my ford escape was having some brake issues, leaking fluid. I brought it to them hopeful, they were very confident in the fact that whatever the problem was, they could solve the problem. Nonetheless they were very thorough in their assessment of the issue. Located the problem, and turned every rock over to solve the problem, and fix the vehicle. I came to Ryan's for the first time for an oil change for my Mazda CX 5. They are pretty booked up so I had to wait for an appointment and they aren't open on weekends which is tough when you have a work schedule. But we scheduled for an early Friday morning at 8 AM and they had it done shortly after nine. They texted me a report of the status of my air filters and other mechanic-y things- and were very clear about what I'm going to need to do for maintenance in the future. Ryans Automotive on Redwood Hwy in Wndsor is beyond spectacular, honest, and fair. They changed my oil, topped all of my fluids, rotated my tires and did a full diagnostic without suggesting to fix anything, just emailed a list of future potential issues for $105, not a penny over the quoted price. They were fast and it only took 45 minutes start to end. I love them. I will be using them in the future for all of my needs. To top it off, they give you an oil punch card so every 4th oil change is FREE. Called in Tues, made appt for the following Monday, and I explained EXACTLY what I needed. Ford power stroke 7.3, drop the fuel tank and replace fuel pickup screens/filters, nothing more. I was then told they can do a bunch of diagnostics, tests, blah, blah, everything I WASN'T asking for. I politely declined. FFWD to next Monday, I'm there at 8am. I speak to the gent behind the desk, he verifies I have an appt, reiterates my ask, and then starts the up-sale, "what if this doesn't fix the issue? We can run a series of tests, ect". What issues?? I've reported none. I again decline and ask for a price for just the labor/work I've come in for. Note** I asked for this price over the phone, but they "needed to see the truck" first. However today, without ever looking at my truck, I am given a price of $455 plus the cost of parts. I'm good with that, and say we can proceed. Then, as I'm trying to hand over the CORRECT new in box parts which I've already sourced, the guy tells me they can't actually use the parts, and he'll instead have to start working the phones to find the (same) parts. This of course sets the table for a series of disappointments. 1) I have already spent $$ on the parts, now i get to buy twice?? 2) my truck being ready "this afternoon" will turn into next week as I've already searched them out which took over a week to get. Finally, 3) why waste time finding new parts when you're literally staring right at them? Bottom line- None of my experience made much sense to me. Maybe others have had better luck? We took our truck in for a low coolant light. I was told the coolant tank was full and I agreed that's high priority and they were supposed to call me with the cost, they did not and did the draining anyway. I agreed to pay the diagnostic charge to find out why the light was coming on. We called hours later only to find out they drained the tank without approval at a cost of $600. They waived the bill but when my husband picked it up they told him to never f'ing coming back, I don't want your f'ing money etc. there were alot of f bombs going off from his employees. We were willing to pay what I approved. Ryan claims to have been there but as a business owner if he was he should've stepped in. How is it our fault that they made repairs without approval? To be so verbally accosted is so unprofessional. Ryan has his head in the sand when it comes to his employees. My husband even offered to go back to point out the employees but Ryan said no, so that tells me he knows. Kept asking what do we want, we don't want nothing! We tried to pay what was authorized but they said no. Accused my husband saying he called him an f'r and I'm sitting here, that didn't happen. These folks are great! I have an older truck that's pretty straight, good paint, decent interior, but was just running a little "Sluggish". These guys suck. I had some work done a few years ago and they never put my dash back together correctly which I let be. Just the other day my truck (2016 gmc)died while driving at 55. If I could give this "business" zero stars I would. Cheri is the most unprofessional woman I have ever met. I come in every month extremely positive and she makes every effort to shame me as much as she can both verbally and by changing prices without showing any paperwork to back up her reasons. The rate is supposed to be $25 for a calibration, and she randomly will change the rate when she wants to. Not only that, she will will tell I haven't had the experiences that I have had with the device and that I don't know what I am talking about. The device has drained my battery and caused me to have it replaced and end up in the shop more than once. I have had professionals look at my car and give me this diagnosis. It is not my own. She told me I didn't know what I was talking about and told me because I didn't have good news about her device, I was never welcome to come back to her business. Not only should I have not been in it in the first place, as I did not drink and drink (took the high road and took responsibility for an accident I did not cause so I could move forward with work and life), but people like her make it really hard to keep my head up. MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICE AND AVOID THIS BUISNESS AT ALL COST! UPDATE: Cheri decided to reach an all time low and file papers saying I tampered with my device, so I went to another business and they helped me no problem!! Of course I didn't tamper with the device....I hardly know how to jump my car, and the other place proved it. So she lied to the state. This woman should never should never work on a car again. They also said the installation was an absolute mess and that they had never seen someone put wires across the engine bay or across the door like that. Fast and friendly service in a clean environment! Right now they are doing free inspections so if you think something is wrong with your car, I recommend bringing it in to Ryan's for an honest evaluation. The shop is really clean and orderly and they have a comfy sitting area with coffee, tea, and free wifi. I came in for an oil change, using a Groupon. For $22 I got my oil changed, tires rotated and my car inspected and I was in and out in about an hour. Also, they will give a reminder call to schedule an appointment for my next oil change-appreciated! At the end of the appointment Ryan went through a long checklist from his 21 point inspection. He was honest with me regarding maintenance that should be done immediately versus maintenance that has some flexibility (I drive an older car with greater likelihood of work needing to be done.) He even printed out tax-including quotes on the maintenance items. Just as I would get a second opinion from another doctor when considering a surgery, I will also get a second opinion from another mechanic regarding the maintenance. It's a small family run business so I hate to leave a negative review. However, I took my car there to get my brakes inspected and they told me I only had one percent left on my front brakes and four percent left on my back brakes and I needed to swap them out immediately, for a price tag of almost $1000.I found that very hard to believe so I took it in for second opinion to another place,and I was told I had 20 percent left on my front brakes and my back brakes looked brand new. With such a huge difference I took it to a third person and the third person confirmed what the second person said. This place is a dishonest automotive shop, I was then told that the brake inspection was going to cost $60, even though they told me on the phone it would be a free inspection. Finding a mechanic that you can trust is such a huge deal. I have had my share of shops screwing with me because they thought they could (blaming me for the clamp they left of a brake line or charging me for a 4wheel drive inspection on a truck that didn't have it). I have never felt that way at Ryan's. They did work on my 12 year old car and treated it like it was just as important as a new one. When I was having troubles with the battery, I brought it in last minute and Ryan tinkered for a few and tightened it down or some other mechanic magic and sent me on my way good as new and no charge. When my car was nearing its end of days, I brought it in for their opinion on if it was worth putting money into. When I bought my new car, I brought it in to have them look at and make sure I got a good one. I TRUST THEM. 100%. They are kind and helpful. I took my hybrid to Ryans for a basic oil change. I got a call saying something was wrong with my battery and that they could diagnose it for 125 dollars and was told it might be my alternator going out. This would of been the second time they warranted my batter and was told they could not keep doing it since they thought it was a problem with my battery. Well first they did not check my battery correctly and second my electric car has no alternator they were rude when they said they couldn't keep warranty my battery again. So I do not recommend any one with a electric car to take it to Ryans they clearly were out to try to make money off of me and I am very disappointed on the service and how I was treated. Luckily I was smart enough to know my car has no alternator. Lol read more

i called Mr. Ryan this morning and asked for an estimate on a front end alignment on my F150 4x4 pickup. he said "about" $130 which i find is a pretty good price but the word "about" leaves room for higher prices once the car is on the rack. then i asked about a water leak on my wifes Chrysler 300 and he said he would need to diagnose it for $120 ( i believe it was, maybe $125) anyway i asked if that cost would be deducted from the price of the repair if i go ahead with it. He said no. well, i said i dont pay anyone to diagnose my car..... and he interrupted me in mid sentence and said his shop was not for me and hung up the phone without allowing me to finish. i was going to say; i would not pay the diagnostic fee if it was not applied to the repair costs and i was going to ask again if he would reconsider that..... i also was going to schedule the front end alignment but he hung up before i could speak. i called him back to tell him i did not appreciate him hanging up on me mid sentence and that i was going to book the front end alignment before was rude and hung up on me. again, he said to take my business elsewhere and hung up before i could say anything else. i have been in the service business for over 43 years including President of a large corporation before retiring, so i know of what i speak. any owner of a business who is confrontational, Antagonistic and demeaning towards customers dosent have long to live. word spreads fast! Avoid them like the plague. read more

The best, most honest automotive shop around. I took my car in for a AC Recharge and he did a 27 point inspection for free. He gave me a detailed list of what he saw wrong with my car as well as going over what was priority to fix.
