    French toast
    Regina F.

Came on a Sunday for brunch. Was warned that it would take about 45 minutes, no biggie as long as we can order drinks. It took our food over an hour. The food looked good but my steak was rare and I ordered medium well, i asked for no cheese in my eggs....I got cheese. I had to ask for my Waffle because th he waiter forgot. I enjoyed the Waffles and potatoes. My girlfriend had the French toast and hated them. Stated it was just a big chunk of bread with no flavor or batter used. I would give them another shot, but she i definitely not going back

Was not disappointed. Both the salmon and Mac & Cheese were super tasty. I will be back.

This has been high on my "want to try" for a long time and finally saw an opportunity with an available reservation, went for it and am so happy I did. I dined solo, which I rarely do, but this was the perfect place for it. It was apparent that most people dining were regulars. The owner was chatting with just about everyone and diners were popping over to other tables to say hello, as well. Felt like a very small town. Service was perfect - not overbearing, but perfectly timed for a good flow throughout dinner. Their menu changes often, so some of the items I loved, may not be available - but it does seem like their fried oysters are a mainstay and holy moly, they were delicious. I had one cocktail - I believe it was called Watermelon Sugar. It had vodka, aperol and fresh watermelon. Refreshing and smooth. I tried two apps: the fried oysters and the bao buns. Both were fantastic. Perfectly prepared, so much flavor. I think that next time, I would stick to the appetizer section and try many rather than getting an entree. I got the scallops, which were delicious, but the apps wow-ed me more. Prices aren't low, but you get what you pay for - really high quality dishes with lots of thought and execution embedded. I don't say this lightly - this has been added to my top 10 list in all of Hampton Roads!

It's a small, quaint space that gives you that perfect blend of cozy neighborhood vibes with an upscale, refined feel. The food was absolutely outstanding--every dish had unique, well-balanced flavors that clearly showcased the talent of the chef. You can truly tell that a lot of care and creativity goes into the menu. The service made the experience even better. The bartenders were fantastic (James especially stood out!), and the waitstaff were incredibly personable, attentive, and welcoming. We arrived at 6:30pm for our reservation. We walked in and was greeted and the next gesture was the hostess asking for $10 each. I was a bit blown away because I didn't understand what the $10 was for because we just walked in the restaurant and it was only a handful of people inside including an employee sitting down eating ... and the workers still setting up and what appeared to be the entertainment that was setting up as well. The hostess mentioned entertainment was taking place around 7:30 or 8:00 ... Okay but it was not even close to that time frame so not sure why money was taken or asked for in advance. My bestie and I were going to dine if anything share an appetizer and have a drink ...definitely wasn't going to be there for any entertainment because we both were underdressed so that was a bit of a turn-off but he was excited to try the restaurant so he paid the $20 for us to walk in and sit down. The restaurant was wide open so we decided to sit at the bar instead of a table not sure if he was greeted at the bar because I went to the restroom. Nevertheless I came from the restroom and sat at the bar with him and not even 2 minutes later I was greeted with gnats and the smell of bleach such a turn off not sure what's going on here or what happened but I was ready to go. My bestie wanted to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt but 5 minutes later I still was turned off and was ready to go. Well... go at your own risk. Parking is available on the street as well as a parking garage is available within walking distance. We were in and out by 7pm. $60 spent I order an old fashioned I know I finished that in about 15 seconds because I didn't want anything to get in it so from what I can recall it was good. Have fun and enjoy life :)

Nothing was set up. They finally let us in because it had to be a fire hazard to have that many people standing in the hallway. Everyone was let in and given wristbands. The lady giving them out didn't know how to put them on, so she just handed them to people. Again general admission tables, seating other than surrounding the pool wasn't available. There was no food after 11, or tables set. 20-30min later there was a dash of people trying to set up. One man in particular, I'm assuming he was in charge, came around apologizing for most of his staff not being present and comping mimosas. He was very aware and alert that everything started sideways and he just wanted to fix it. He was putting out tables and chairs in his suit. The bar seemed extremely slow and behind on fixing drinks. Once things got going the food was ok, no complaints here. It was a beautiful rooftop setting, it was extremely hot, the pop up tents provided shade. I would like to go back to give it another shot, when they are properly staffed and the food is better than "ok".

If you're looking for a restaurant that combines elegance, flavor, and a memorable atmosphere, look no further than Pecola's in Hampton, VA. This Black-owned and woman-owned gem delivers a one-of-a-kind experience from the moment you walk in. Pecola's effortlessly blends bold global flavors with a chic lounge vibe. The tapas-style menu is creative and delicious, with dishes perfect for sharing with friends or savoring on your own. Many guests rave about standout bites like the fired-cracker shrimp, salmon bites, seafood egg rolls, and fresh sliders; as well as the menu pairs fabulously with the handcrafted cocktails. What really sets Pecola's apart is the ambience -- the decor feels upscale and stylish without being pretentious, and it's a perfect place for date nights, celebrations, or just catching up with friends. Live music nights and a lively vibe make it more than just dinner, it's a full sensory experience. The shisha lounge adds an extra layer of relaxation and fun, offering a cultural twist that's unique for the area and a hit with locals and visitors alike.
