I went on a Saturday early afternoon. Had to sit at the bar because the tables were booked for reservations. I thought their bar chairs were a little low for the bar. And it wouldn't have been much better if they had bar chairs rather than stools with no backs. The drinks were okay. The long island was made well. The mimosa was just about all juice. Instead of ordering another mimosa in a different flavor, I just ordered a glass of champagne with a side of juice to my make my own. It was much better that way and only a dollar difference in price. The food was delicious. I got chicken and waffles. The waffles were probably one of the best I've had. And the chicken was well seasoned. The biggest downs fall was that we had to wait about 45 minutes for two orders of chicken and waffles. It was entirely too long of a wait. The restaurant is cute and trendy. And they played some good R&B music. read more

This place has a long way to go. My first time here was a couple of months ago. I didn't want to leave a review since this was a new establishment and I had a mediocre experience. So, my friend and I came here after seeing this place HEAVILY promoted on their social media platforms. Our waiter was nice but literally took forever. So we ordered a hookah while we waited for our food. About 20 mins later he comes back and says they were pretty much out of everything.... Literally about an hour after opening. So we tried to order drinks, which again they promoted soooooo many different types of "cool" drinks on their social media platform. Only to be told that they don't offer drinks yet, only mimosas (EVEN THOUGH IT WAS PROMOTED ON THEIR IG). I ordered the fish and grits and they weren't bad. Ok so fast forward to last weekend. The restaurant was empty. Literally 5 tables filled max. Once you walk in, the hostess told us that it would be 1 HOUR BEFORE WE GET OUR FOOD AFTER ORDERING. again, trying to give this place a chance, my friend and I said we'll order hookah and drinks and hopefully by then the food will be out. We literally sat at our table for 20 mins and no one came to our table. There was a table directly next to us and the waitress came there about 2 times and even looked us in our faces and never acknowledged us. Another waitress saw us and turned back around. NOT ONE PERSON WAITED ON US. We just got up and left. 2x we tried to support this place. But it's literally just not the move. We ended up going across the water to CANVAS ON GRANBY. We originally went for brunch but found that it is only on weekends. I had sirloin and my friends had Rasta Pasta with added protein. My steak was not good AT ALL. I asked for medium and got it well done. I'm going to go with it may have been an off day for the chef or maybe the order was entered incorrectly. I didn't hate it enough to not try them again. Came for brunch on Sunday and was told 1.5hr for 2 even tho there were multiple tables open. So we checked in 2pm seated at 335pm. I wanted French toast meal, I was told I needed to order from lunch dinner menu because brunch was over at 4pm, it wasn't 4pm yet it was 341 pm to be exact. No biggie, place food order and long story short we didn't get food until a little after 5pm. I ordered salmon blt. It came with 1 reheated from brunch piece of bacon and I was HOT! We all know that reheat microwave bacon taste, eww! I had to take it if but 1 piece of bacon. Even Wendy's puts 2 slices on a jr bacon cheeseburger! Our food was just ok. The table that sat down before us didn't get their food until after we left. I can't imagine how long they waited. Hate to do this but I advised coming up with a plan for faster service and chef that makes the food memorable. On the positive side. Great music and nice decor. read more

My family of 3 and I came in to try Greenyard for the first time after seeing it on social media. The pictures online looked promising and delightful. When we came in the bartender said we can sit anywhere we liked. Once we found a table that was cleared off we sat down for about 20 minutes before my husband decided to head to the bar to order our drinks and inform the bartender that we hadn't been waited on. After about 15 more minutes the waitress walked by us for about the 5th time, so I flagged her down to let her know we would like to be waited on. After ordering we waited for our food for almost an HOUR in which all of the items ordered didn't arrive. The food was subpar at best. I ordered the salmon which was overcooked to where it was almost rubbery. The mac and cheese tasted old as if it was out for a while, but I was starving because of the wait so I ate it. My husband got the jerk pasta and he seemed to enjoy that. If I can find a positive after coming in, I really enjoyed the music and decor of the restaurant. This place has a lot of promise and can benefit from a new up and coming area. I believe they can turn this around with a little bit of fine tuning to their customer service, the way seats are tended to, and their time management of delivering meals to customers. I would like to try this place again in the future, but will wait and see if any of their lingering problems persist in the comments and reviews from future customers. read more

Went for Sunday brunch with a girlfriend. We both Ordered the French toast platter. I got home fries and she got cheese grits. With a Peach Mimosa pitcher. All the food was delicious..came out hot and flavored well and correct portion. The service was professional and timely. Only area for improvement is the Mimosa juice to champagne ratio...way too much juice. We ordered the crush cocktail the second time around and they were made well. Nice atmosphere, cute decor. Overall, will be back to this gem. And I believe it is black owned, which is a bonus. read more

I had ordered a Cobb salad and many of the ingredients (egg, avocado, cucumber) were not available and it wasn't until the salad came and I asked the question of where it was that the waitress went back to the kitchen to find out what was up. We waited over 30 minutes to order drinks and the waiter was very nonchalant and inattentive to the needs of our party, when I spoke with the manager about our concerns she never apologized instead she politely offered us to leave if we were not satisfied but since we had reservations for a party of 20 we decided to stay. I took my son and I here for a late lunch. The environment was very pleasant and had a good family restaurant feel. It was very clean, our service was excellent and the food. First time here and I'm not impressed. We were seated immediately and ordered our drinks and they took about 30 mins to come. Then we ordered our food and that took even more. We got here at noon and it's now almost 1:30. When the food came to the table it was cold and had to request two plates be microwaved. One plate came back in 5 minutes and the other took almost 10 minutes. They didn't offer to remake our food fresh, they microwaved it. Then when one of us said something about the service was unacceptable, the waiter ignored. The drinks were good and the vibe was nice otherwise. Also we asked for ketchup and it never came. French toast on a baguette is not ideal either especially after being microwaved. Again the vibe was great, the waiter was nice mostly. We addressed the issue with one of the staff and nobody came and spoke to us. We had actually ask for the manager and finally she was more receptive and very nice. Like huh am I missing something... so I taste it.. it's nasty but I'm like look when you bring the food can you just bring ms sugar. Big mistake because the food didn't come until 15 minutes later. My friend orders the shrimp and grits with a side of extra shrimp. I get French toast, eggs and home fries. She asked us if we needed anything I sad ketchup.. What I will say is the portion sizes were good. Too bad the food wasn't. The sauce on the grits had a very unpleasant taste.. can't put my finger on what it was that made it unpleasant.. too much hot sauce they use or how watery it was.. My French toast had no kick to it.. just seemed like they put butter on thick slices of bread let it get brown and put it on my plate. No cinnamon taste just blah. The eggs had zero seasoning. Well, I came from out of town and it was highly recommended by my nephew, he's brought many people there and recommended this place. I know it's a new spot but service is always imperative, first we stood at the counter for about 4 mins and then we had to get someone's attention to see us to be seated then after being seated we waited another 5 mins before someone came over to ask if we've been seen. I will say the food was good, my server was excellent. Being out of town I wasn't familiar with double taxes at restaurants here so I enquired with the waitress and the waitress got one of the managers so she can explain the taxes to me because it was more than even 10%, well the manager walked over to me and said, "I was told you wanna know about the taxes?", I said, "yes", she said, "it's 13% VA has 7.5 and the Common wealth has 6", And walked off. Came to Greenyard Grill after seeing them advertise a pretty good happy hour on Facebook. We came in on a Saturday evening and the place had a decent amount of people and...two employees out front. Part of our party arrived early and ordered appetizers which when we arrived 30 minutes after them..they still had not received. When it was our turn to order she told us they were out of shrimp. Someone ordered a Caesar salad...she came back and said they were out of Caesar salad. Huh? I understand being short staffed but in that case I feel there is a need to either put people on a wait or even close for the evening. I get call outs happen and it's hard in the restaurant industry now but an establishment won't make it or maintain customers making poor staffing decisions. On the plus side, the inside is beautiful and has pretty good vibes. They just need to work on staffing and stocking their food at this point. It's not a good look to hype up your restaurant on social media to turn around and not be prepared for the crowds you're advertising for. Some of us ordered the greenyard drink and enjoyed it. Someone ordered the lemon pepper wings and they didn't have much flavor, they tasted like regular fried chicken and were mostly drums. ONE FLAT! Another person ordered wings and they were cold to the touch and had to be sent back. Actually everything came to the table cold, unfortunately. The waitress said that all the cooks didn't show up to work today so the owners are cooking in the back. So I feel it would have been most appropriate to close. For the food to take so long and come out cold and to find out it is literally being cooked by the owners and sent out this way, it says a lot about the business itself. Now that all the food is here after being reheated, it was actually pretty good but it's a shame that I've sat at this table the past hour and saw so many people leave from waiting too long so they won't even know it. Our server was great for how stressful I know this environment is, she said she had been here since 6 am and it is now 6pm. This place has potential but it is not a close reach. They need to rexamine their staffing because the people who didn't show up today lost them a lot of business. We order the greenyard combo which was crab dip, mozzarella sticks, and chicken tenders. The chicken tenders were cooked to perfection but they were not seasoned. The mozzarella stick we lukewarm and the crab dip wasn't good at all and wasn't season. For our entree my husband got the turkey club and he said it was dry. For his side he got the Mac and cheese which wasn't good. The noodle were still a little hard and the cheese sauce didn't have any flavor. I got the burger and parmesan fries and they were ok but cold when they arrive to the table. My burger was good other than the fact that it was not seasoned. Just moved to the area and decided to give this place a try. Overall, our experience was rough. Service was poor, presentation of food was great but the taste was not. I got the steak and eggs and my steak was horrible. My sister got the French toast and chicken. Her chicken was not seasoned and the toast just tasted like a huge soggy loaf of bread. We had to ask for our server on multiple occasions. Our drinks took 30mins and our food took over an hr. The place was not really busy. However, we couldn't seem to get good service from our waiter.
