Met friends here for dinner. Good local Mediterranean joint. BYOB! We started with a house salad special which was incredibly fresh. For mains we got Gnocchi Caprese, Milanese Pork, meatballs Cavatelli Angus Beef, and linguine with shrimp . All were good and the kitchen cooperated on customizing our meal. (Swapping cheeses and gluten free pasta for one diner). Service was good. For dessert we got Tiramisu, Affogato, and butterscotch Budino which were all good. Normally the Budino is chocolate but they were out and subbed in butterscotch which I love. That butterscotch should be on the menu all the time. Espresso was good as were cappuccinos. Plenty of parking available. Hadn't been here in a long time but they always satisfy. read more

The food was surprisingly good. Everything was tasty from the fried calamari to the salads to the pastas. We went on a Thursday night and the place was packed. There was only one waitress and a kid who was her assistant. It felt stressful just watching them try to take care of the entire dining room. We waited a while for everything- water, bread, food. At first the mains came out before the appetizers and we had to send them back-not sure if those sat under the heat lamps. I wish they had more staff and presented a calmer, more enjoyable vibe. But I will be back bc the main event is always the food and it was good. read more

I recently came here with the family to celebrate my brother's birthday. We made reservations in advance, so we got seated right away on a Saturday night. The atmosphere of this restaurant was great. Service from everyone here was outstanding. The staff went above and beyond. This place is a BYOB, so we brought some wines to enjoy with our meals. We started off with some apps. We tried the calamari, meatballs, and clams. All 3 of these appetizers were outstanding. They all tasted so good and perfectly sharable. I especially enjoyed the meatballs. Everyone's main dish meal was great too. No complaints from anyone. I had the chicken parm, and it was delicious. I also tried some of the salmon dish, and that was great too. This had to be one of the worst experiences at an Italian restaurant! My pork Milanese came out uncooked and pink. They substituted it for a piece of chicken that was like rubber when I called the owner Gregory to tell him my experience he basically hung up the phone on me. I will be stopping payment on my credit card in full for the terrible service terrible food and terrible experience. Then they ran my credit card for another table and I had to wait 40 minutes to get my credit and for them to ring up the proper order! will never be visiting this restaurant again. Beware read more

Came in a Thursday night for a wedding rehearsal dinner. Our group took up the entire restaurant which is quite cozy and tastefully decorated. A little understaffed, but all waitstaff were professional and amiable. The vodka sauce rigatoni appetizer was absolutely fantastic, I'd come back just for a full plate of those bad boys. For an entree I had chicken mushroom with spinach and garlic mashed potatoes, very very good. We decided last minute to go out for dinner on Valentine's day and Gregorio's was the only one with a reasonable time slot (8pm). We were a bit hesitant about bringing our two kids with us but surprisingly they were so accommodating. The restaurant isn't super fancy and in fact, there was enough noise and chatter in the restaurant where it feels less pressure to make sure our kids were not causing a ruckus. It was a busy night but the servers were super nice and patient with us. We ordered a caesar salad, calamari, and meatballs as apps. The caesar salad was really fresh and was surprisingly my favorite. For entrees, I got the pan roasted fish and cooked to perfection. They also had a kids menu which offered standard chicken finger or pasta options. I'm glad to live nearby so would definitely be coming back again. read more

Went here this past weekend with another couple. Our server Isabella was terrific and very attentive. Each couple shared a salad. My wife and I shared the Mediterranean salad and it was good. Other couple enjoyed their salad as well. For mains my wife had the chicken parmigiana and said it was just ok, not great. I had the chicken picante and it was very good. Our friends had the broccoli and cavatelli and pork tenderloin Milanese. Both thought it was good. We then realized that the mozzarella in corrozza that we ordered never arrived. I came here for a welcome dinner on the night before the wedding. I was only the +1 on the invite so I was grateful to be included because the food was delicious! Our large party were the only people in the whole restaurant and we were LOUD so I cannot exactly judge the ambiance. The food though! I give the food a definite 5 stars, no doubt about it. Starting with the salad, it was delicious, had a little shaved cheese on top and not too much dressing thank god. Next course was rigatoni with tomato basil sauce. Not something that I would usually order because I'm very picky about the sauce, I'm used to mine or my mother in laws but this was surprisingly good, I loved it. Last but not least was herb crusted cod with a little mashed potatoes and spinach. It had a smear of sauce on the plate as well. The entire thing was delish. I was really excited about eating here as it had been recommended by a local friend. I cannot emphasize enough how terrible this experience was. The waiter showed up when we first arrived, and then disappeared for almost 30 minutes. My wild mushroom risotto, tasted like ravioli, covered in queso. It was disgusting, almost inedible. Maybe the service or the food in this restaurant is better than what we got, but it was laughably bad. At the end of our terrible, overpriced meal I even had to get up and go to the cash register to get our check. In the hour plus that we were there, we only saw our waiter twice. It's a tiny place and it wasn't very busy so there was absolutely no excuse. Sorry for the one star review, but this was a pretty lame dinner. read more

We were shopping at the Mall at Short Hills. By the evening hit, we were hungry and had no reservation. Decided to check out nearby restaurants at Chatham and saw this small but busy restaurant. They were able to accommodate us on an outdoor table. My wife ordered Mushroom ravioli and I ordered the Asiago chicken. Both were delicious. In fact, this was one of the best tasting meals I've had recently. A great find. Next time, we will call ahead to reserve a nice table inside, as it's going to be cold soon. read more

Called for a reservation three times on two days, left a message and never got a call back. The fourth time, I left a message saying "if I don't hear from you, in a few hours I will have to call another restaurant. Yep, that's all I said. The owner called back with a real nasty attitude and said he didn't appreciate me threatening him and he always answers the voice messages, so I probably never left one. I have never in my life ever had contact with such a rude individual. Never will we go back there again, besides, the food isnt all that good. read more

Wow, great time, if you're into a smaller cozy intimate dining experience try this place. Had an array of appetizers and shrimp scampi very well executed and authentic. Service was great our guy open our wine and anticipated when we needed him. He got a nice tip from us. Stopped off at this cozy little place in Chatham NJ. It's definitely a mom and pop type of restaurant that's BYOB- wish I knew that before. Anyway, the food was pretty good. We shared the Rice balls, crab and shrimp ravioli and asiago crusted chicken- they were all seasoned very nicely, not greasy and surprisingly light for cream sauces. The rice balls are a nice treat so go for these yummy appetizer. We finished our dinner with the warm flourless chocolate cake- it was eh! Could've been warmer however the coffee ice cream that accompanied it was off the hook! Could've had a tub of that. Great food. Moderate pricing. Staff although not polished in fine dining did a great job in providing a very competent service. The only objection is the smell emanating from the rear near the kitchen and bathrooms. If staff hasn't found this offensive and embarrassing, it makes you wonder if they are attentive to other critical areas such as food storage and general cleanliness. Our server recommended it cooked at medium and it came out perfect. My dad is a huge chicken parm connoisseur and he thinks Gregorio's does a really good one! The rice balls are also great - not overly fried nor greasy and just the right size for sharing. I love the combination of Italian/Mediterranean fare and the BYO aspect. We finished up at the Short Hills Mall and wanted to get a nice casual meal in the area. Turned to Yelp and saw that Gregorio's fit the bill; it was highly recommended, not stupidly expensive, and it was close by. What a find! The place was bustling with a positive energy when we arrived. There was a very sweet lady who greeted us; she then took us to a nice table and told us that she was also going to be our server. The service she provided was right on point; very attentive but not intrusive. We found the menu choices to be right up our alley. We started with the burrata with crispy zucchini. Our mistake was just ordering one portion to share, since it was so delicious we each could have happily eaten our own serving. My wife got the Asiago crusted chicken, and I got the pistachio crusted salmon. These were two dishes we had never tried before, and we enjoyed every bite. Mine came with a delicious butternut squash risotto (which could have been a bit larger portion), and the chicken came with garlic mashed potatoes, which quite frankly was the only clinker on the plates. Too much garlic and too much butter or cream causing a loose consistency and overpowering garlic taste. For dessert we decided not to share and we were soon digging into the tiramasu parfait with coffee gelato and the banana-nutella crepe. Great stuff with not a morsel left standing. The only real downside to the meal was the wine, which was terrible. However if I have to point the finger of blame it would be at myself, since after all Gregorio's is a BYOB. : ) Next time we are in the area we will certainly return. With a better bottle. read more

Looked like an everyday mom and pop joint but the quality and taste of the food is of fine dining. Had the slow roasted lamb shank which was fall off the bone goodness. Paired with the tomato risotto turned out to be heavenly delicious. Initially thought it would be too tomatoey but actually needed the red wine sauce to elevate it to that next level. The BYOB factor definitely boosts the appeal of this restaurant. The flourless cake, moist and surprisingly fluffy, with the espresso chip gelato was decadent and everything I didn't know I wanted. Definitely coming again to this gem. The only reason I give the restaurant 4 stars is because of how tight the tables are. Totally understand the need to maximize their covers - it was packed after all with diners before 7pm but maneuvering out of your table requires gymnastic reflexes. read more

Went for dinner last night and found my absolute favorite Italian restaurant in the area! My husband and I came hungry (and we can eat) so we ordered a lot to share. We started with the rice balls and calamari which were good. In hindsight, we should have ordered something lighter to start with (their salads look beautiful) because the portions are quite large! The rice balls were very good-extremely rich and cheesy. The calamari was good, not chewy at all and came with a nice dipping sauce. I would only order calamari again if I came with a bigger group though as it was a huge portion and pretty filling. We then split the lasagna. This is hands down, the best lasagna I've ever had. The noodles are made in restaurant, the bolognese is so delicious and they use a different type of cheese that makes it so much creamier and decadent. You must order the lasagna! Then, because we have huge stomach capacities, we each got an entree. I ordered the pistachio crusted salmon-it was divine. My husband got the healthier salmon preparation. We both tried each other's and couldn't decide which was better! We were fully impressed! By then, we were actually stuffed. Their homemade desserts looked amazing (especially the crepes) but I, unfortunately, could not eat anything else. I'll be back and know better to save some room for dessert! The place is a BYOB and prices are pretty fair. The atmosphere is cute. It's a small space with lots of tables but isn't excessively loud-cute date night location. The servers are very attentive. Chatham, NJ is a boring place. When we got to Gregorio's for our 8pm reservation, the place was buzzing. By 9:15, we're getting dessert and the place is dead (as in one other table eating their dessert dead). But, this doesn't mean it's not a solid restaurant. The current listing says the place is Greek/Mediterranean, and I know the awning calls Gregorio's Italian Mediterannean Cuisine, but this is an Italian place. If you're coming here looking for Greek food, you are in the wrong place. There are no shabbily dressed men outside smoking and drinking coffee, and there's not a hint of foods ending in -aki inside. Refined carbs like white bread are terrible for you, but Gregorio's bread comes with an awesome roasted tomato spread, so live a little and have some. Appetizers are a solid mix of good salads and plates that 2 can easily share. My last time here I had a salad special to start with spiced pecans and gorganzola that was really good. I'd also recommend the roasted pear salad, crusted fresh mozzarell and the eggplant involtini. If you're in the mood to stuff your face, get a pasta dish here, the portions are huge. I had a squid ink linguini last time with swordfish and shrimp in a light tomato basil sauce. I was expecting a little more flavor wise, but it was good. Everything here is also very reasonable price wise, pasta dishes run from $14-19, and main entrees go from chicken dishes at $17 to $23-24 for tuna and steak. I usually get the pasta here, but the lamb shank is also good. Desserts are basically ok. Nothing special, I'd say waste your calories on white bread and pasta and pass on the dessert stuff. read more

This was my second visit to Gregorio's and I truly enjoyed everything about my experience. The food was delicious. The salads are terrific and there are plenty to choose from. The entrees and pastas are delicious, we had pappardelle pasta, chicken parm and salmon with pistachios. Everyone was pleased with their meals. The service was terrific. Went back last night for dinner. Absolutely horrendous service. We had a female waitress, I don't know her name. Took 20 mins to get bread and order, another 20 minutes to get soft drinks. She argued when we asked for extra butter and napkins. She never came back after dropping our food off, never offered salt, pepper or grated cheese. Never came back to see if we needed anything. We had to beg for the check which took another 20 minutes. She then slammed the check on the table and it took another 20 mins for her to get back so we could pay the check. First time I ever considered just walking out of a place due to the wait staff. It is a shame because the food is very good. read more

I love this casual Italian restaurant right on Main Street in downtown Chatham. The dishes are well composed and cooked. Sauces frequently are served with meat or fish. Salads are refreshing. Desserts are very tasty. We choose this restaurant over all other Italian restaurants in this price range nearby. Never had a bad or even so-so meal here. FYI: the owner is the chef. Fantastic meal. We had a party of 8 and the experience was fantastic. Our server was awesome. I was so preoccupied that I can't remember his name. The entire staff were always present when we needed them, but also allowed us to enjoy are meal. The chicken picante is amazing and so is the pork Milanese. My only complaint was the chicken dish was a bit on the small side. Two very very small, but tender chicken breasts. The bread and dip were great.
