I don't patronize Old Mill restaurants all that much. Anthony's is my favorite for the happy hour bar experience. Frankly, Greg's has never been on my radar solely based on negative reviews, which is a bit unfair. Anyway, stopped in for drinks at the bar and I'll rate that at 4 stars. - Generous pour of Macallan 12 yo scotch from the bartender. - Comfortable padded seats at the bar.

Beautiful building inside, reminds me of a ski lodge. Waitress was great and made great recommendations. I went with their Prime Rib (served on Friday and Saturday). Came with loaded baked potato and opted for a side salad. Food was good and the ambience was really nice. There is seating outside by the river which looked great.

My wife and I stopped here on our way home to Seattle. We got great service from Esme and Jason. I ordered the Mushroom Carbonara and my wife got the Sunset Salmon Salmon. Both dishes were delicious. The Mushroom Carbonara was interesting in that instead of noodles it had finely sliced cooked cabbage. I took the leftovers home! Esme was BUSY but did not leave us unattended and was helpful in picking out dishes to try since this was our first time here. Near the end of the night Jason stopped by and shared some fascinating history of the area including the conversion of the powerplant. The restaurant was nicely appointed, has a great view of the Deschutes River, and has nice outside dining. The building, location, food and service all came together to make it difficult to try another restaurant next time.

Savor the View and Flavor at Greg's Grill! Perched above the stunning Deschutes River with the majestic Cascade mountains as your backdrop, Greg's Grill is a feast for the senses! We Enjoyed a delightful spread featuring crispy calamari, refreshing Roasted Beet Salad, a towering Stacked Steak Sandwich, fish and chips, and succulent Beef Tenderloin. We also enjoyed wine and Irish coffees. Huge thanks to Cameron for the fantastic service that made our visit even more special! Cheers to good times and great food!

I'd avoided this place somewhat because the menu looks non-traditional and a bit scary. If you feel that way, get past it. The things at the very top are effectively amuses bouches, not even starters. Then below that you have shared starters (pork collar lettuce wraps amazing!) , then salad/soup if you want (the gazpacho was simply amazing and Steve's description made it even better). The bread, oh my god, the bread. Some Spanish or Portguese flat fried round bread with tallow on it -- you don't need the butter, trust me. In fact, perversely, that was the only issue with the meal. We ate too much bread. Next time, I'd eat half a roll each and bring the rest home. The steaks were simply superb, the crust amazing, the cooking temperatures perfect. I used both Steve and ChatGPT to help me pick mine (the Eye of Rib). The hangar, the bavette, and even the filet (not my fav) were all great as well. But I liked my pick the best. No room for dessert, none whatsoever, but they gave us a free madeline which was yummy as well. A++, best restaurant in Bend, can't believe how long it too me to come here. Don't fear the menu, it's not that complicated and the server will make it easy when they explain it to you.

The ambiance is my main complaint and I honestly have no idea how to fix this but I could not hear my partner from across the table. Thankfully, they let you add your name to the waitlist so you can explore downtown Bend while you wait, which worked out perfectly since it's surrounded by cute shops and walkable streets. We came here to celebrate our two year anniversary, and it was the perfect date night spot. The atmosphere was warm, dark, and romantic with a rustic Western inspired feel that felt not overdone but fit Bend perfectly! For dinner, we ordered the scallops with the squid ink pasta. The scallops were perfectly tender, and while the pasta was a little on the greasy side, it was still packed with flavor. We also had a salad and the beef carpaccio to share. The carpaccio was delicious, though I think it would have been even better with a different type of crackers since the ones served were a bit too hard. So if you're hankering for the mac n cheese or shrimp n grits or veg burger or any of the menu items, after today they are history. I started eating at The Drake in their first week of business and had many, many, many meals there over the years but things change and so, it seems, has the popularity of The Drake. Now the good news. The new owners are a trio and one of them is also one of the owners of the inestimable Ken's Artisan Pizza in Portland that opened its' Bend location last year. (Go! Even if you have to stand in line for 45 minutes like I did.) The first news of this ownership change was that they would keep the name and current focus of The Drake. But local television news reports that after The Drake closes today it will be reimagined with a new name and design and menu. The opening for the new place is currently said to be Memorial Day weekend. I don't live in Bend anymore but there is still a family home there and so I visit on occasion and knowing a "Ken's" owner is involved in the new enterprise may make me brave the wicked-bad downtown parking to try this new place. I had a ball! (Actually, quite a few :)…read more Quite a few years ago, I was on a motorcycle trip coming into Bend, and I saw their sign that said "mountain oysters." I had always wanted to try them, so I stopped in, and I've loved them ever since. They have the texture of chicken gizzards, and have kind of a liver-y taste, but not nearly as strong. It's hard to describe the flavor other than they are very good. I was passing through Bend, so I had to stop in again. This is a very down-to-earth place. Nothing fancy at all. They left the food speak for itself. My server was. Kenzie, and she was very friendly and helpful. They are more than just a steakhouse, they have a very large, varied menu The mountain oysters are normally an appetizer, but I had them as a full meal. I also had a side order of the coleslaw. To drink, I had a fruity lemonade. I don't remember what it was, but I do remember that it was very good, the fruit played well with the lemonade, and it was not too sweet. The mountain oysters were delicious, pounded thin, and not over breaded. They came with two dipping sauces, a Housemade barbecue sauce, and a jalapeño mustard. I loved the barbecue sauce, it was just a little bit sweet, and a little bit tangy. The jalapeño mustard, also very good, reminded me of a Dijon, and you could just taste the jalapeños. They didn't overpower the mustard. The coleslaw was also very good, it was not overdressed, and I'm not sure what the dressing was, but it was savory and just a little bit tangy. I took my dessert with me to go. I had the MarionBerry bread pudding. It was moist, and a little bit sweet, but not too sweet. It was an excellent bread pudding, and of course I forgot to take a photo. They were generous with the berries, and they really played against the bread pudding so well. It came with a caramel sauce which was very good, but I preferred the bread pudding without the caramel sauce, because I felt that the caramel sauce clashed with the berries a bit. For all I got, the price was very reasonable, and they do offer a military/veterans discount. I will be back the next time. I'm in town. Thanks
