they were always very polite but bit of a mixed bag here, went for diagnostics and they never once called me to let me know anything's done so it spent over a week there with me calling multiple times to get things progressing and so that was annoying, but they were quite knowledgeable and gave me the information i needed, and it was actually quite cheap with the things i elected to do so i'd go here again but i'd keep in mind i'll have to call like at the beginning of the day each day to see what's up. read more

Brake replacement. Better customer service to start and to finish, get your vehicles serviced elsewhere. I had my breaks done here and spent quite a bit a lot of money. I called Greg's Japanese Auto to make an inquiry into the specific date that I had the service done and if I was still under warranty or guarantee of service on work done. My brakes are squealing very loudly. The level of push back and gaslighting I received from the person I spoke to was insane. It's super frustrating and annoying that they are not willing to provide customer service after spending $3000.00 plus with them. Since that is how they want to operate. First of all, I NEVER write bad reviews. I felt the need to go out of my way to write this after going to a different auto shop, after getting my brakes and rotors replaced from Greg's last November, and the different auto shop telling me there was a severe safety concern with how they replaced the brakes incorrectly. I had taken my car to Greg's in Lynnwood in November for a routine oil change and brake and rotor replacement, which after my appointment I noticed there was a new grinding noise coming from the rear so I took the car back and they said that it was just the brakes being new and were supposed to make these noises. Not being satisfied, I took my car to another mechanic to get a second opinion and they were appalled with how these brakes were replaced, stating it was unsafe to be driving. I had to get a brand new set of brakes because the metal had been grinding off on the edge of the pads due to lack of alignment. They also tried to upsell me on a long list of stuff, which I brought the list to a different mechanic and they said none of that stuff needed to be done and my car looked like it was in great shape, outside of the brakes. Stay far away from this place, they do not take accountability and safety into account. read more

We called about two cars requiring routine service. The response was to bring in one car and after an hour bring in the other car and take the first home. We had a coupon for a discounted oil change and were told it could be applied to both cars. When we arrived at the appropriate time we found that the first car wasn't done. We had to come back and discovered that some major repairs were needed. We asked if there were any discounts and were told that they would apply all of the discounts they could. When we returned to pick up the car and leave the second car we found no discounts applied to the bill. They were applied only after we asked (again). When we got home we found that the car made a horrendous squeaking noise when we turned the wheel. We had the car towed back to Greg's. Apparently the line from the steering wheel liquid container became disconnected from the container and the steering wheel fluid was pouring out. Greg's fixed this problem. We were again told that the second car would be ready in an hour. When we arrived at the appropriate time the car was again not ready. When we finally got the second car the oil change discount was not applied. I found out after the fact. When I asked for a credit to my credit card I was told they couldn't do that but could only give me a credit on my next oil change. In my mind none of these events were acceptable. read more

Before it was 5 stores, but after my brakes was changed, I kept hearing scraping on my wheel, and I had to get rechecked by another Greg's locations and they said the caliper was off and had to be adjusted and also reflush brake fluid cause it the test strip failed again even though I got it changed. read more

Like some other reviews, I agree you need to be very wary of this branch. They seem unethical. My friend's 17 year old daughter brought in her Acura ILX for an oil change. They told her that the battery needed to be replaced and that see needed to bring the car back immediately because the brake pads were less than 1mm. We had just swapped the battery less than two years ago and there were no indications that power was bad, so we were kind of surprised about that. What really got us was the brake pads--you can kind of see them by looking through tire and they looked pretty good. However, we took them to another mechanic and they verified that they looked fine and could definitely be driven at least for another 5000 miles. There is good chance that might not have tried this with someone older, but it is really scummy when a place takes advantage of young women who may not know much about cars. Beware! read more

Overpriced - will charge a flat fee regardless of whether they found any issue or not. Also quoted me back work that I literally had just done prior to the visit (throttle body clean) and pushy on the sale after diagnostics. Their kiosk also asks you for your social security number which I found to be wild. Also kept my car overnight even though I was told it would be ready that day and I had to call them back to check on the work (simple spark plug change for $500+). So, we brought our 12 year old Nissan 370Z here, with an intermittent misfire engine code. We pulled the code ourselves- multiple cylinder misfire but not constant. Brought it to the Nissan dealership first and- I am not making this up- got a $3888 quote. To replace the spark plugs, and a new battery and fan belt and a basic 30K mile service. AND it would take several days. After I got done hitting the roof and whatnot, I called Greg's. Zach quoted me $800ish over the phone to do the spark plugs and 30K service. I took my car over from the Nissan dealership at light speed, and brought it to Greg's. This was on a Saturday. I brought it over at noon. Zach and the team got all the things done for $800. They also did a very thorough inspection. Granted, I didn't go for a new battery or fan belt. But that is a crazy difference, regardless. The team at Greg's got it done in 3 hours, same day. Frankly I was shocked at how fast they took care of us. And it was such a good experience. Zach was on top of it. When we asked to see our spark plugs he was already on it. 10/10, Zach and Chrystian are awesome. We will be back, what a breath of fresh air! On 25th January 2025 I bring in my car for a routine oil change. Later I am informed that I will need a new oil pan because the one on my car, the drain plug has worn out, cost $900+. Ok so if it was worn out, my previous oil change was done by this same location. Was I informed of this? Definitely not. So I came from a perfectly working part to not worn out but damaged between the 2 visits? Note only Greg,s auto has touched the part. Now I go look at what point in my vehicle's lifetime do I need to replace because drain plug has worn out, well still searching and even called multiple Lexus dealers. Same answer from all of them, the only reason oil pans are replaced is when damage occurs on them. So here is my question greg, the pan is not a part that wares out and need replacing at given miles or life of the car, vehicle was not leaking at all when it came in for service, you were the last service center that did the oil change with no ware of the drain plus noted, how did the part get damaged? Well apparently, the only way a drain plugs hole needs work done on it, is when its is over torqued or wrong drain plug placed in it. So again, why would you damage my car and charge me almost $1000 for repair? Ware out is not a cause of stripped drain pans. If my brakes are worn out you would advise me to change them, and I can easily google and see how long brakes would last, tires , oil filters, belts all this things ware out and need to be replaced. Show me where oil pans ware out and need replacing. I had to tow my vehicle to another shop to have it repaired and I would like a refund to cover expenses of doing repairs. read more

Brought my 06 acura here for a battery change. After about a week, it died overnight. Had to bring it back (obviously) for them to find the problem, and i was embarrassed because i thought I left a light on. Not so. It took about 4 appointments, 1 refusal to initiate warranty(lol), 1 out of pocket tow to the shop, and about $100 with each and every visit before they realized it was an electrical issue and they needed a blank check to work at their hourly rate of $200 to find the problem. By this point, I simply ran out of money. Gregs Japanese Auto of Lynnwood nearly completely capsized my life financially during a time when I was desperately working two jobs to pay for my dogs surgery (shes fine now). $500+ in fees and not to mention my lost wages from having to call off work 4 times and the problem never got fixed. With the best customer service in the world, this location gently bent me over and made a god damned fool out of me. I was the sucker of the month for them. I'm a car guy myself - just too busy to work on my own and thought this place was nice after reading reviews. It will be you next. Buyer beware - go elsewhere. I found Greg's Japanese Auto in Lynnwood after a search for a new shop for my 2007 4Runner SE, 4WD. This vehicle at 170,000 miles has traveled the North American Continent from Alaska to Mexico more than once. At a local Toyota dealer they estimated $2,100.00 for replacing both CV axles. Greg's came in at $700.00. They replaced both, warrantied them and without me asking shined up my 4Runner. When you call here you get an experienced mechanic on the phone. Alex knows her business. I took my Toyota Sienna in for an oil change and asked to have my tires rotated. They changed the oil and performed other maintenance checks to the vehicle, but they did not rotate the tires as I requested. The front desk person indicated that the tires did not need rotating, but that is not what I requested. I will give them one more chance to get it right with the next oil change but that's it. Paid some other mechanic to do the valve cover gaskets on a Mitsubishi Montero. Week later took car to Greg's to have them change the alternator, they said the gaskets were leaking again. I asked Alex to please go ahead and fix em being the car was there. A $600 job ended up costing $1100 cause I didn't go to Greg's in the first place. Now it's fixed and rolling fine. My advice is to go to Greg's in Lynnwood an see Alex and have her give you a quote and get the job done right the first time this will save you money and time. Gave my car for an oil change service and was told that my valve cover gasket needed to be fixed. I was quoted ~$850 for the replacement. I didn't replace it as I wanted to get a second opinion. Took my car down the road to Andy's - the technician there mentioned the car is in great shape and there's absolutely no issue with the valve cover gasket. The technician at Andy's even mentioned that he would trust driving the car to Florida, condition as it is. I've had positive experiences servicing my car at the Greg's downtown location but my experience at the Lynnwood branch left a lot to be desired. Pricing is almost similar to the dealership. At least the dealership uses genuine parts. To replace my Alternators, AC compressor, and water pump; total was $3470. When they call you about the work that needs to be done, and the total cost, you're already locked into the diagnostic cost and shop fees. So I would suggest you shop around first before having them look at your car. Alternator replacement: $751.83 AC Compressor replacement: $1475.77 Water pump repayment: $676.28 AC diagnostic: $136.50 Add on tax and $50 shop fee. I also wasn't offered a courtesy ride, even after spending $3470. I found out about it after walking 1.5 miles to pick up my car and saw their shuttle leaving the lot. So, ask for a ride if you need one. Update: Having using the AC for the summer, it works, but the air isn't as cold as the original Toyota AC. read more

I've used Greg's several times before and always had a good experience. However, this time was bad enough that I won't go back. My battery died. I was quoted an amount that included replacing the battery, an oil change, and several other minor fluid/belt replacements, etc. I agreed to this. When I picked up the car, all they had done was put in a new battery and changed the oil - and charged me over $350! I called them later to dispute the charges, and I had the same thing repeated to me like I'm an idiot, mansplained to, was told to stop talking, and no help was offered. I was told that $150 was for "diagnostics" - for a dead battery! I requested a warranty on the new, $200 5-year battery (which they offered no options for, and the car is 20 years old), and was told it applied to their shop. I bought it, I own it, and I'm never going back, so I guess I don't get a warranty. They should have at least given that to me or offered to send it. I know what it takes to put a battery in - 2 bolts - and an oil change is $35 anywhere. The mega-overcharge and rude customer service has lost them a customer, and gained them a bad review. read more

This review started as 5 stars but has dropped significantly over the last two months due to the excessive customer service follow up surveys and phone calls. Original Review: So initially I was skeptical taking my brand new Subaru to a place other than the dealership for services. However, Greg's has exceeded my expectations every step of the way. Their prices were consistently 20% lower than the Carter Subaru down the street and my wait time to get the car in has always been less than a week. My only qualm is that I have to go elsewhere for tire rotation. Not a big deal when I consider Les Schwab will do it for free. At the last service I did have a bit of sticker shock, but when I called around for comparison Greg's was significantly more reasonable than the dealership. The waiting area has always been very comfortable as well. My kids appreciated the toys and the free WiFi. I'll update this review as time goes on to make sure I am giving accurate information on my experience, but as of August 2015... I'm pleasantly surprised. Edit 8/31/15: One thing that has become extremely annoying after my positive experience at the service center is the excessive customer service follow up afterwards. I received no less than 2 phone calls by polling companies asking about my experience and 2 emails. After my initial review, this excessive unsolicited contact has left me irritated and annoyed. Obviously the company thinks I have nothing better to do with my life than fill out multiple satisfaction surveys and answer telemarketers all day. A different well known shop messed up on my last oil change so bad, the entire oil pan had to be replaced. I was referred to Greg's Japanese Auto, and they took care of just about everything for me. There was a bit of back and forth between them and the shop that messed up, and I really appreciate them doing as much as they did for me. The employees are nice, easy to talk to, and most importantly: they are honest. They kept in touch with me the entire time, and did not pressure me to do any more work then what I had initially took it in for. I have some pretty bad social anxiety, and have been really stressed out about this whole thing, but they took care of me more then I expected them to. The shop is really nice as well; very clean and has a comfortable waiting area. I highly recommend you try them out for yourself. This is my go-to shop from now on. read more

I brought my 02 Montero into them for a timing belt and spark plug replacement and a front crank seal oil leak. While they were doing the work they found that the crank position sensor was broken and they could not determine if it was brought in that way or if they broke it while removing it for the above work. There was no clear evidence either way. They absorbed the cost for the part - I think it was $190 and a few dollars for labor for that part. I appreciated the honesty. I am going back. read more

Greg's did an engine re-seal and installed a new catalytic converter in my 2009 Subaru Forester. Before, I was leaking oil (because it needed the re-seal) and getting horrible mileage (because of the bad catalytic converter). I went in because i had a few things wrong with my truck.... they quoted me $650 just to look at the issues (didnt fix a thing). Okay well thats a bit excessive for sure, but there was a few things wrong with it so i bit...I should have walked out when they gave me that price... First off, they had to be the most expensive place ive ever seen in my life... Im not sure what they charge for shop time, but lets figure this out.... they forgot to adjust my parking brake, and they told me its gonna be ten min to do it... so i watched the guy remove the tire make one adjustment on the wheel, and sew it back up... you know how much they charged me for that? $140.00!!! holy crap 10 min of work! They charged me 150$ to look at my ac system... they didn't (couldn't) even tell me what was wrong, they said "oh it must be electrical, so its gonna cost more." So yeah i look around in the car omg my AC pressure switch is broken in half.. you trying to tell me the mechanic coudln't see that with his visual inspection? I sure did!!!! they tried to say i have a leak in my oil cooler... well that is a one bolt fix, they wanted to charge me over 200$ for that, its a 10$ gasket and one bolt in a very accessible area of the truck...these guys did me dirty!!!! Following an oil change at Greg's Japanes Auto (in Lynwood), they reported that my car was leaking oil from several seals, and then when I got my vehicle home and parked it overnight I checked the oil the next morning. It was SIGNIFICANTLY overfilled. That's not going to help any leaking seals, now is it? And then after moving the vehicle I saw ZERO leaks on the ground. So where were all these leaks they reported? I'm not sure what their problem is - but I won't be going back. I don't need my oil overfilled, and I don't need non-existent leaks repaired. And I don't need leaks being created or made worse by having my oil overfilled by A LOT - which anyone who knows anything about engines will tell you: significantly overfilling oil can cause your seals to blow out. read more

I have brought my 1996 Lexus to these guys several times this year for routine and (mainly) non-routine maintenance. Each time they were very thorough and very understanding of my budget. They clearly defined those repairs that were necessary immediately and those that were not. They have also been very flexible with my schedule. Allowing me to leave my car overnight, or even for several days. Most recently, I got a Discounted oil change via a coupon at another location. Leaving there I was told that I had about $1500 of maintenance that needed to be addressed immediately. I left there and went directly to Greg's where they analyzed all the same issues. After talking to Bruce and Rob at Greg's, I realized I had more life to my brakes than I was told. As well as a few other issues that were not accurately conveyed to me at the first location. Overall I have had nothing but friendly and accurate help from all the staff at Greg's. read more
